I was not one of the easiest brides to work with - due to my insane life - but I trusted Dave's music choices and he totally pulled through for me. All his song choices were perfection and EVERYONE loved the music - shown by the flash dance party during dinner! People just couldn't stay off the dance floor. Dave was certainly flexible and had excellent taste. He also firmly kept me on track and made sure that I picked songs while never being pushy. Dave was beyond amazing and his DJ skills honestly made the wedding!

Greg was the DJ for our big event and he was phenomenal! Before the party, communication with Greg was so easy. He responded to emails quickly and called us exactly when he said he would. At our party we had a lot of people, both adults and kids, and he was able to keep everybody on the dance floor. He played all the music we asked him to and kept the fun going seamlessly. All our guests had a great time and Greg was a huge part of that.

Ok so when I started looking into wedding DJs on here, I was a little skeptical. All 5 star reviews? really? BUT YES REALLY! Greg DJ'd my wedding 2 weeks ago and everyone is still talking about how great the music was. People who never dance at weddings were cutting a rug and having a blast all night. Greg was so genuinely nice and great to work with thru the whole process too! He has an entire on-line music request/planning website that is SO helpful to us. We gave him a list of songs we liked (and ones we didn't) and he played all our "must plays" and mixed in some selections based on our crowd and our taste. Highly recommended!

Dave did a fantastic job. He did the music for both the ceremony and the reception. He found our unique music requests. He was very sweet. He was also on-time for the wedding despite being rear-ended on the way there. He always had a smile on his face the entire time, and was very attentive. He worked very well with the other vendors. I hope he continues to be a DJ!

Amazing!! Greg did such a great job at our wedding, everyone can't stop raving about him. He does a great job of directing the flow of the wedding with out being overly involved. He had some great ideas that we used and everyone thought they were so creative. I was the neurotic spreadsheets for my spreadsheets kind of bride who also had lots of experience in the wedding industry prior to planning my own, so I'm embarrassed that it has taken me this long to review DJ DAVE from 5 Star Events. From beginning to end, our first meeting all the way until months after the wedding, he has gone above and beyond what you would expect from most other DJ's. Not only was he amazing and personable and adorable, but he played the coolest songs with lots of fun and unexpected ones thrown in that the crowd went crazy for. He was so professional and so easy to work with, always offering a listening ear or a checklist I may not have already had. He even went so far to send me a special wedding CD of some of our wedding playlist to cheer me up after hearing about a horrible experience with another vendor. Seriously, who is that thoughtful 2 months after a wedding? DJ Dave is. I promise, you will be so happy that you booked him. We are RAVING about the awesome job of 5-Star Events at our wedding reception last weekend. Now, Dave is the younger brother of the founder and owner, but from the moment we met him, I felt that our party was going to be in great hands and it was! Our wedding had a large and varied guest list and Dave kept the dance floor full the whole time (and our reception involved a LONG dance party, so that is saying something!) My guests were enthusiastic and effusive from the very beginning and I heard someone say, "the great songs just keep coming!" Dave catered to all ages and the older (parental) crowd had a great time early on... and my mom was even joining my friends in the club-type dance-party late in the evening.

Greg Hodges was an amazing dj! He played all the songs we wanted and didn't play any that we didn't want! He kept everyone on the dance floor all night! At 1 am majority of my guests were still dancing and didn't want to leave! I highly recommend 5 Star Events!!

Greg was absolutely amazing!! He was incredibly easy to work with--available through email, in person, and even in skype (which was very helpful!). With each request we had, he was extremely accomodating and helpful, and also had many great suggestions. Being a dancer myself, having great reception music was important to me, but I did not have to worry for a second about the music on my wedding day because I knew Greg would be fabulous--and he was! Thank you Greg for a wonderful night of music!

Dave Hodges is fantastic. From the moment we contacted this company, we had wonderful service. Both Dave and Greg were extremely prompt in answering our questions and put us at ease right away. Also, they have plenty of state-of-the art equipment. Dave was our DJ for the wedding, and he surpassed our high expectations. Our crowd danced all night, and many many guests told us that we had a great DJ. At one point it felt like every person was dancing. But more than anything else, I was impressed by Dave's warm and calm demeanor, his organization, and the way he handled our large party for introductions. He was low-key, which is just what we wanted. We had a wedding coordinator to run the ceremony and tell the party when to walk, but, had I to do it over again, I would have Dave do that part too. Don't hesitate to hire him!

Greg was the most professional wedding vendor among all the vendors I worked with. He was extremely responsive and so easy to work with throughout the whole planning process. The music was GREAT and exactly the style we were looking for! I would recommend him to anyone!

Greg was awesome! We were so impressed by his DJ services- he is really organized and was able to judge our crowd and what they'd dance to so well! Our friends and family had the best time and the dance floor was packed all night. Greg was very responsive and fun to work with, and kept things flowing smoothly on the night of our wedding. He also did cocktail hour music for us & had a great playlist going during dinner! When we first booked with 5star, I was a little apprehensive about how a DJ company could have so many great reviews. As it turns out, he is even better than the reviews say!

Greg Hodges is an incredible DJ. Prior to the wedding he was quick to respond to any questions I may have had and he made sure he knew exactly what we wanted for our wedding and he gave us an outline of exactly how our reception would flow. He made sure I was comfortable and happy with our wedding timeline. During the wedding he was amazing! The music at our wedding was the perfect soundtrack for my husband and me. Our guests are still talking about our excellent DJ and how all of the genres and styles of music flowed together. I did not stop dancing all night and the dance floor remained packed! Our wedding was wonderful and Greg Hodges played a huge part in making sure everyone had a great time! I offer no hesitation in reccommending him as a DJ!

Dave was just what we wanted. He listened to all of our input and made sure that everything was done correctly. He was easy to contact and went out of his way to make sure that details were taken care of. He uses the latest tech seamlessly, and was able to make sure that even our most out of left field song request was fit in perfectly. He never gave up on a tough crowd and made sure that everyone kept dancing. Dave was exceptionally attentive and professional, we highly recommend 5 Star Events.

Dave did a great job and we had a great time at our wedding. All we've been hearing is how much fun everyone had and that the dancing was out of control. Everyone was into it and we've heard compliments of the DJ from many of our friends. He met with us beforehand not only to go over the planning but to get to know us, and he definitely read the crowd perfectly and kept the party at a great pace. We had a blast and couldn't have planned for our wedding to go any better. Dave made the party even better for all of us.

We recently had Dave DJ our June wedding. He was unbelievable. I didn't have to worry about a thing. He made it so easy. From our first meeting with him till the end of the night Dave was very attentive to our needs. He listened and got to know us through some meetings and email. He did a really good job choosing the right songs that fit us and "making the wedding our own". The website they have made it very easy for us to plan our wedding and organize every detail. Dave was very organized and responsive to last minute changes we had. Dave knew exactly what to play to keep our guest on their feet. We had a great time and our guest can't stop talking out it. We worked with Greg for our wedding that was a few weeks ago and it and he were exceptional! The dance floor was packed from almost the moment it began with people of all ages!
Greg is the most organized person that I have met in a long time! He has a binder that he gave us that walked us through the reception event/ timeframe; provides you with songs and titles in different categories (i.e Fatehr daughter dance, first dance, etc); names and order of the wedding party, names of the parents, etc, etc. Additionally, hegives you access to his system where you can listen and download songs that you want him to play. We met with him twice prior to our wedding and talked out the logistics of the reception; set up a timeline for the reception that he then shared with all of the others involved in the event; sorted out what music to play when; and the overall feel we wanted at our reception- and he did it all of this flawlessly. Moreover, he kept things moving during the reception by working collaboratively with the site coordinator and wedding coordinator so that we were able to maximize the time we had at the reception. Everyone who met him loved working with him!
Greg is smart, talented, intuitive, organized, friendly and is a wealth of resources. He is responsible for creating music software for DJs used throughout the country. He made the event so much fun and festive. He was able to sense when the songs were hits and when we needed to move on and did it flawlessly. During our first dance, the song began to feel too long so with one quick look, he knew to invite others to join us on the dance floor. Marvelous...
Also of note, I began receiving calls the day after our wedding through as recent as today about how much fun it was, how great the music was and how ice Greg was when approached with requests!
I truly can't say enough great things about him, his level of professionalism, organization and wonderful personality and his company. Anyone who includes him in their event is sure to have an exceptional event.

Dave recently did our wedding at the Liberty Hotel and he was absolutely fabulous. I would recommend him without hesitation to anyone. First of all, he was SO helpful during the weeks leading up to the wedding, keeping us organized with the online system and checking in just the right amount to make sure we were on track ;) I love how they enable you to build song request lists and outline the evening. On the actual night, Dave made sure everything went off smoothly and met with our coordinator at the hotel beforehand so all entrances and events (cake cutting, bouquet dance, etc.) were seamless.

Then of course, there's the music and he did such a great job of selecting music that everyone would enjoy, mixing more contemporary and classic songs so EVERYONE (really, people I've never seen dance before) was dancing. Let's just say even my mom and her friends were doing the dougie and loving it. When midnight rolled around, we had to ask him to stay for another hour because there was still a big group partying. It's a night we will never forget and Dave was an instrumental part of that!

Greg worked with Jon and I for our wedding on Memorial Day weekend of this summer (2010). He was an absolute delight to work with leading up to our wedding. He was flexible, had great advice, and was always available to talk to us. He even helped us to fix a last minute seating arrangement snafu two days before the wedding!

We have had dozens and dozens of our guests tell us that our reception was amazing and we have the pictures of everyone dancing to prove it. Greg gave us exactly what we wanted with a night of great songs, great dancing, and for Jon and I, the confidence that we were supported by the BEST DJ. Jon and I both feel that Greg got to know us so well that he was able to provide a personal experience which nobody else could have provided.

Easiest, most convenient, most professional DJ service I have ever had the pleasure of working with. My wife and I planned our wedding from New York and 5 star Events went out of their way to make it as easy and painless for us as possible.

Dave and Greg work great together as a team and did everything under the sun to make sure that we had absolutely zero to worry about on the day of our wedding. Due to my work schedule a lot of my e-mails would go out around 11pm or later, and without fail I would have a response to any e-mail within the hour. These guys must never sleep!!

They put together itineraries for us, and even sent them out to other vendors involved in the wedding so that they would know what to expect and when (was especially helpful for the photographers).


Dave was so easy to work with, he was getting last minute important song changes, such as the father/daughter song less than an hour before the dance was set to take place and he didn't miss a single beat. His professional announcements throughout the festivities were welcomed by all. His ability to give them throughout the night with keeping the focus on the bride and myself not making the DJ the center of attention spoke wonders of him and his company. Dave even went to the extent of buying a matching tie to match the bridesmaids dresses!! He had bodies on the dance floor from the second we were introduced to 30 minutes after we had hired him for!

Unforgettable night made extra special by having great music played all night long! Would recommend them to anybody, anywhere, anytime!

Dave from 5 Star Events was the DJ at our wedding and he did an outstanding job turning our reception into a fabulous party which all of our guests are still talking about five weeks later. We're an older couple and we wanted to have just the right mix of music that would cater to both young and older adults...our biggest fear prior to the wedding was no one would dance. With our first dance our fears were quickly dashed as the floor was packed with people and that was only the beginning as the night turned into a really fun evening for all ages. Personally, Dave is incredibly organized and extremely cooperative and easy to deal with. Many of my guests spoke with Dave during the wedding and they were all so impressed with his style and professionalism. In my opinion, Dave and 5 Star Events represents the Best of Boston in the world of DJ's.

First of all, Greg is the greatest! We had a day wedding and I was anxious to see if anyone would actually get on the dance floor but as soon as the reception began all my worries disappeared. Everyone got out and danced and had such a great time that at the end of our wedding they were chanting "encore". He's that good!

t was a pleasure to work with Greg Hodges for our wedding music. Our First Dance song was too long for our nervous footwork, so he whipped up a shorter version (by 1 minute) that was so seamless it was barely noticeable that the song had been altered at all. He was great at finding songs that we had custom-picked, and his online interface is very easy to use. He's a great, personable guy and it was very easy to contact him either over the phone or through Skype videochat. People definitely had a good time dancing at our wedding, and Greg's equipment, speakers, and digital turntable were perfect for our event.

Greg is a phenomenal DJ. If you hire him, he will put bodies on the dance floor and it is as simple as that. He very adeptly had three or four generations of people all having a great time, the entire time. Just a spectacular party, and if you are reading this, he should be your guy.

Nuts and bolts: very responsive to communications, web setup lets you add playlist songs whenever they may pop into your head, he will meet to discuss things and address your concerns, whatever they may be. Runs the party/reception with authority but without calling attention to himself. Then bumps the beats, gauging the crowd to make sure he gets everyone moving.

All-around fantastic experience and I recommend this DJ for any event.

Greg was amazing from the first moment we started dealing with him. I'm a big picture/macro person and my wife is a very detail oriented/micro person and Greg and his "system" were able to accommodate both of us superbly. I loved the "do not play list" and my wife really liked being able to really set the tone of our reception based on the type of music yet giving Greg the flexibility to pick songs, read the crowd and adjust accordingly. From little kids to old people I never thought would make it up on the dance floor Greg had the dance floor filled from start to finish, the time flew and everyone was sad for the night to end. Hindsight being 20/20 the only thing we would have changed is we would have added another half hour of music onto our reception. Thanks again, Greg!!!

5 Star Events went above and beyond to help us plan our wedding. Greg was more than helpful on non-DJ questions that came up during the planning process. He has endless ideas and ways to keep everyone happy (as we all know it is not easy planning a wedding). Dave was the DJ for our wedding on 3/26/11. He went above and beyond what my husband and I expected from a wedding DJ. Before our wedding, Dave worked meticulously to help us find the right music for our ceremony and reception. On our wedding day, he kept the dance floor packed all night (with all age groups!). We hired Greg Hodges for our February wedding and he was fantastic! Throughout the planning process, he was always very responsive and had lots of ideas. When I wanted a very hard to find song for our ceremony (it's not even on any album anywhere), he found it for me somehow, and when my dad wanted our father-daughter dance to be to a somewhat lesser-known 1950's group, he not only got that song for us, but also the whole album in case my dad wanted to hear other songs from that group.

Greg's enthusiasm and excitement for what he does makes the whole process fun and stress-free. He is super detail oriented and I believe he set up like 3 hours early on our wedding day!

He did a good job of playing lots of danceable songs, but I think the ultimate compliment was that during the reception, a close friend asked me if I had chosen all the songs because all the music was so "us". When I told her I left that to Greg after just discussing the vibe we were going for, she was very impressed (and so were we!) that he was able to create such an amazingly personal musical atmosphere.

One of the most important pieces to a wedding is the DJ and Greg was amazing! He had the place rocking all night long! He has a wonderful personality, is an extremely nice guy, and was very accommodating to our schedule. He did an outstanding job at our wedding and I would highly recommend him to anyone that is in need of a DJ.

WOW! Greg & 5 Star Events was the best! We had been to 2 other weddings where we was the DJ before we booked him so we knew he was be great. We were very specific on what we wanted for our playlist and Greg was more than happy to accommodate. We met before the wedding to discuss our vision and Greg was so enthusiastic about our music that it made us feel at ease. Greg is amazing. We had a small wedding, but the dance floor was packed the entire time thanks to his great selections! I really appreciated that he met with me in person a few weeks before the event to talk logisitics and flow, and listen to my song preferences. He was extremely professional - and left out all the cheesy DJ chatter that you sometimes get at weddings from other DJs. The services are very well priced and a great value for the very high quality!

We hired Greg to DJ our November wedding and he did an outstanding job. Greg was always extremely accessible and always responded very quickly. He went above and beyond. I cannot begin to describe how AMAZING Greg Hodges is. He DJ'd my sisters wedding back in February of 2008 and as soon as my husband and I got engaged in July of 2009, we immediately booked Greg. Our dance floor was jam packed all night because of Greg- I totally trusted Greg's opinion so had told him to play whatever he thought our guests would like. We had David Hodges as our wedding DJ and he was perfect. Planning my wedding was so much easier knowing I didn't have to worry about him and what he may play :) He respected my wishes and when a guest tried to get him to play "The Macarena" David very quickly asked me if it would be ok (I had asked him for "no cheese"). I have already recomended his services to friends. Great job David and thank you!!

Greg did a great job from the begining of our reception to the very last song. If your looking for a DJ that keeps the dance floor packed and everyone moving all night then Greg is your man. September 25, 2010: DJ Dave Hodges made the reception....I can't explain it any better than that. He was professional, flexible (and we threw a lot at him, last minute), courteous, PREPARED, fun...at some very stressful moments, he remained calm and immediately put us at ease. Honestly, it was a perfect night, enjoyed by everyone (and no exaggeration, half of the guest were deaf! and still had a great time and danced!!..and my 77 year old father even said the music wasn't too loud and enjoyed himself). Speaking of deaf attendees; we also threw at Dave interpreters...they loved him also! Anything I can do to get the word out that THIS is the guy you need to DJ your event! I have no regrets and neither will you.

Greg did such an amazing job DJing our wedding! Our dance floor was packed all night and we could not have asked for a better person to work with! He played a fantastic mix of songs and everyone has told us how much fun they had dancing at our wedding/ how great the music was! Greg was wonderful through the whole planning process as well. He was very quick with responses and very helpful. His website also had a great online planning tool and the music was coordinated well ahead of the actual wedding day. Dave was fantastic! It started with the excellent website that made planning very easy, to one-on-one meetings to make sure we got what we wanted WHEN we wanted it. Dave managed the times and course of events flawlessly and allowed us to do something most couples don't get to do on their wedding night: RELAX! He took our music suggestions and ideas and weaved together a great playlist. He also read the temperature of the room perfectly. We had people on the dance floor to the bitter end.

Greg Hodges played at my cousins wedding a few years ago, he had everyone ( I mean everyone) on the dance floor. A few years later when I got engaged I knew instantly we had to have him DJ our wedding. He was the most professional vendor we had. If I sent an email, he wrote right back, if I left him a voice mail, he called right back! He had very helpful ideas and suggestions and is an overall great person to work with! You will not be dissapointed with his work.... he will have your guests "fist pumping" all night long!!

P.S He also does uplighting!

Dave was awesome to work with! He was easy to work with and very flexible and the online planning tool was AWESOME! It was actually fun to just go on and look through the music - thousands and thousands of songs to choose from! Dave made sure our wedding day went very smoothly! Since my sister was so nervous to give her maid of honor speech Dave held the microphone and her drink the entire time - he was so great!

Greg did an excellent job at our wedding! He balanced party involvement and letting the party go by itself perfectly. We had some unique requests for music and Greg delivered, he play sections of songs on loop and cut out other portions of music for us. He understood our music style and played tracks that meshed with what we wanted. Everyone loved the music, evident by the full dance floor all night long!

Not only did he have a huge variety of music on offer but he was so easy to work with and immediately made us all feel confident that he and everything about the wedding was going to be great. Everything the bride chose he played and for any of the gaps that she hadn't decided on Dave chose exactly the right music for the moment. He truly couldn't have been better, more professional, or easier to work with. He was the perfect combination of professional and friendly If I could have given him a rating higher than 5 stars I would have. I cannot recommend him highly enough, he was terrific!

He inspired confidence from the begining, which meant that I was able to leave the music in his hands and only worry about the other millions of details. Dave Hodges was the 5 Star DJ at our wedding and he did an amazing job! I was extremely impressed by his professionalism and accommodating attitude. After meeting with Dave Hodges we knew he was the DJ we wanted for our wedding. From the start, he helped us organize the flow of the reception by giving us a guide to work off of as well as an online planning tool. The planning tool is great because it is full of every song you could think of and even has different lists of song suggestions just in case there are songs you know you would like played, but forgot to put on your list. Greg from 5 star did such a great job at our wedding. You can tell he loves what he does and had our dance floor packed all night. He was very professional and managed our play lists very well. He got a great read on the crowd and kept people going all night by stacking dance song after dance song based on the crowd. He doesn't play any silly games or fill up the night talking all night - he made appropriate announcements and worked with the venue to time things perfectly. We used Greg for our wedding on February 13th at the Red Lion Inn in Cohasset. Our original DJ cancelled on us a month before the wedding due to health issues. Luckily for us, he recommended Greg to us. We met with Greg shortly thereafter and he was kind enough to accept the terms of the contract with our original DJ. Greg was very accomodating with music requests, even setting up a webpage for our guests to make requests on. We had certain guidelines on songs that we wanted played and songs that we didn't want played, and Greg covered them all. He did a fantastic job at the wedding, once dinner was over people were on the dancefloor the entire time. I've had numerous people comment to myself and my wife that it was the most fun they've had at weddings and that the DJ did an excellent job. I would highly recommend Greg again and have done just that to another friend who is getting married this summer. 5 stars easily, I'd rate higher if it was possible. Thanks again!

Greg was outstanding! My husband and I wanted a DJ that left the dancing to us, and the music playing to him-- and that's exactly what we got. When you work with vendors, you want to be sure that you have absolute trust in them- and we did in Greg. He had never worked at the location where our wedding was (The Union Club of Boston), so to be sure he knew where he was going, how he would set up, a few weeks before the wedding, on his own, he took a walk through so that the day ran smoothly on his end and our end.

I cannot say enough about him and 5 Star events-- we even hired him to do out lighting for the dance floor. With an old, historic Boston building, he was able to keep the elegant setting of the Beacon Hill location, with proper lighting that stepped up the room so that our quests knew that there is where the party was going to get to the next level.

From the moment that we first met Greg we knew that he was the man for the job; he was absolutely great to work with! We booked both a DJ and Band; after sitting down with Greg, he assured us that he would contact the band and coordinate all of the details with them, which took some of the stress off of us. Greg Hodges of 5 Star Events did a fabulous job as the MC and DJ for our wedding reception in Cohasset. Greg has the best equipment (not bulky), has back up units (that he brings to the venue), incredibly organized (provided us with a binder with questions, ideas and suggestions before we even had made our final choice) and is very accomodating. 5 Star Events was phenomenal. The owner & DJ, Greg Hodges, was the best DJ we have ever experienced. My husband and I wanted a no-fuss but extremely fun reception. Greg helped us deliver that. Every single person I have spoken to, has told us that we had the most fun wedding ever. Greg spent as much time with we wanted, planning our big day. With just one meeting, we were able to plan out the entire reception timeline and Greg gave us great advice every time. His online planing tools enabled us to document our reception timeline (everything from when the 1st dance would be held to when the entrees should be served) as well as tools to request the songs that we wanted played. As we wanted everything from Weird Al Yankovich's "Yoda" for my 7 year old nephew to specific songs from the 80's, 90's and current for our friends and of course Frank Sinatra for the older crowd---we wanted quite a wide variety of songs. Not only did Greg have all of the songs, but the way he sequenced them was genius. He literally kept the dance floor full the entire time.

I can't say enough about Greg. I also went to another wedding where Greg DJ'd, and the couple wasn't as particular about the music as my husband and I were. The end result was the same---the dance floor was full the entire time. So whether you want to be very involved in the music selection as my husband and I were or want to be hands off--the end result is the same....the dance floor is full. And it feels effortless, but I know it is not. Greg knows his music and he knows how to keep the energy going.

One last thing. Greg is pretty low key. He does a great job announcing what you want him to announce (the entrance, the cake cutting, etc) but he isn't out there clowning around. We didn't want that. He is 100% focused on keeping the party going, which is exactly what we did want. The music spoke for itself and didn't need anything extra.

By the way, Greg's equipment was phenomenal---the sound and lights were crystal clear and if you want powerhouse bass, Greg can deliver that too!

Greg was amazing. His system was so easy to use and to request songs and he was so flexible the day of with extra requests that our family and friends had. Can I also just add, that my wedding happened to fall on a weekend that we got 11 inches of rain. (If you knew me and my luck that would not surprise you!!)There were many obstacles that presented at the last minute due to the weather and Greg was so flexible and you'd never know how much commotion was going on behind the scenes (trolley broke down, guests were late, issues with the tent, etc). Greg was so professional and we felt totally comfortable knowing that Greg was taking care of our guests in the function room while we were dealing with the many other issues. Greg was super easy to work with and his site makes choosing songs simple. I was planning my Massachusetts wedding from New York and we only needed one in person meeting and the rest was all over the phone/email. The website has a great planning tool and a list of 200 songs that are popular at weddings so you can easily pick which you like and which ones you DONT like. He'll also get you whatever songs aren't listed in his extensive database (way beyond the top 200 songs). He also did the music for my ceremony (over speakers) and it was awesome. Everyone danced the entire night and he didn't do much talking. It was all about the bride and groom!

Booking 5 Star Events was one of the best wedding choices that my husband and I made! From the beginning, Greg was both personable and professional. My husband and I planned our Plymouth wedding from Virginia so it was often difficult to meet with all of our vendors when we were only in town for a short periods of time. Greg was always very flexible in his schedule and would always go out of his way to find time to sit and talk about our day with us. Greg Hodges, at 5 Star Events, is the most talented DJ I have ever come across. My husband and I literally picked our wedding date based upon the availability of 3 components: the venue, the church, and most importantly....DJ GREG HODGES. Greg was the DJ at my sister's wedding, and he did such a fabulous job that we had to have him DJ our wedding. He exceeded all expectations we had for a perfect night of music. He allowed us to work with him and voice our preferences of music styles throughout the night. He also provided the music for our cocktail hour which was a hit- a total mix of laid back favorites every generation can appreciate. He knew when to play oldies but goodies, when to play slow songs, and when to turn it up a notch and play more recent hits...the entire night was orchestrated perfectly. I saw people dance all night long that hate to dance...he was that good!! Greg is also very professional, patient, and a joy to be around. He is by far the most talented DJ I have ever met and I highly recommend him to anyone who wants a fun wedding filled with happy guests and tons of dancing. We had Dave Hodges as our wedding DJ. From the very beginning he was very understanding of our needs, very adaptable to our pace, and very good at making suggestions. At the day of the wedding, he played a great selection of songs based on the 30 that we have selected! It was amazing, everyone kept dancing and having a good time. He was flexible and had no problem adjusting to the changes in the flow of events. We would recommend Dave to anyone without a doubt.
Out of the vendors we worked with 5 Star Events was also the only one with an online client portal where you can choose songs, setup the event flow and details. It was very helpful.

Greg was incredibly easy to work with from booking to the actual wedding. His online software is one of a kind and really make the music process stress-free, allowing you to add/subtract songs and make special notes for him to follow for the wedding day/reception. He can get you any song you want, whether or not it is already in his system. Our bridal party really kept him on his toes with their odd requests, and he did a great job! He is extremely professional and very nice - he let the party unfold without taking over the evening by MC'ing the whole night. We also gave Greg license to play music to keep the dance floor packed the whole night - which he was 100% successful at (and didn't play a single song on our "do not play" list - thank God!

Just a thought to consider, I would definitely recommend speaking over the phone if you have a difficult last name to pronounce just to make sure that everything is 100% - despite spelling my last name phonetically and him asking us very quickly as we were about to be announced, he pronounced our last name wrong (which really nobody noticed but us and can easily be rectified. Greg was extremely apologetic about this and I would not let this skew your decision to hire Greg.

All in all, Greg is an absolutely fantastic DJ and if you want someone who will play great music, keep everyone dancing on their feet the whole night, is extremely easy/flexible to work with and will not be talking on the mike all night (or at all), Greg is definitely the guy for you! Our wedding was 100% a success and Greg played a huge part in that. We have already recommended him to many of our friends and family and will continue to do so!

I have had the absolute pleasure to have had Greg Hodges and 5 Star Events provide the entertainment for my daughter's Sweet Sixteen Ball. From the special effect lighting to the music that just kept on grooving, what an amazing - sensational - event he put together. The dance floor stayed packed all night and the mood was palpable every time the room changed colors in tune with the beat.
