Really inexpensive bridal dresses, and a good selection of off the rack ones so you can save money. And they did not push unneeded alterations. made appropriate suggestions for jewelry and other accessories, again not pushy. cashier had an attitude though, and they went after my maid of honor for a $5 mistake THEY made, refusing to take credit card over the phone. made her drive back to the store to pay it (over 20 miles round trip). for $5. Then when her dress had come in, the seamstress had quit, and they had no one to do alterations. they suggested someone who was even farther away from the maid of honor than the shop was. Though I had no problems with the wedding dress, the Maid of Honor certainly would not have even given them the 3 stars.

The hardest part about going wedding dress shopping is waiting for the sales. I first went to David's Bridal because I knew that David's Bridal had seasonal sales, so it was a matter of waiting until one of the sales came around. One thing that I don't like about David's is that they didn't let me go through the dresses they had in stock myself, and rather brought the dresses to me. The staff is also kind of iffy, meaning that they are not always nice. In smaller stores the salesclerks usually let me look through the racks myself. I understand that they have hundreds of dresses, but I would have loved to have gotten closer and looked at all the dresses myself! Anyway, I went to the Bridal World and it was great. They had a good selection, lots of variety, and in the end I chose something from one of the bridesmaid's collections. The dress was on sale, at it was 75% off. It was a really fancy for a bridesmaids' dress, it flared out at the bottom kind of like a flamenco dancer (I think the style is called trumpet), but it was perfect for a bride. I think my dress was really different at the time, because the brides at the other weddings I went to that summer had dresses that looked like cakes. This was more smooth and curve showing! I usually never wear form fitting clothing, but for my wedding I thought, hey, it's my big day, why not?
Alterations:
They only had to do a few minor alterations. Mostly they had to pinch the dress under the arms, and take it in for the chest area. The dress I ordered took ten weeks to arrive, and then I had to arrange to come back in for a fitting. I wasn't in a hurry so I can't confirm the exact time frame. All I know is that I had my dress, with perfect alterations, for about four months before the actual wedding date.
