I'm sure it was quite overwhelming to see 5 people at a cake testing because it was definitely for me. She handled it very well and communicated well with my husband. The cake was beautiful.

I was very pleased with the look and taste of the cake. I found a picture of a beautiful wedding cake and asked Kristin to imitate the style. The cake turned out so perfectly. Everybody couldn't stop complimenting how elegant and delicious the cake was!

Kristin from A Cake Life is wonderful! She basically made our dream wedding cake come true. We wanted something different for our wedding cake instead of the traditional 3 to 4 tier cake. We wanted a mix of cupcakes and a cake. We gave her our idea and the end result was beautiful. Not only did we get our dream wedding cake, the cupcakes was delicious! Another thing we did different was having different flavors with the regular size and mini cupcakes. EVERYTHING tasted delicious! I highly recommend A Cake Life! The cake was absolutely wonderful!!! Appearance, set-up/presentation, TASTE -- everything was perfect. The only issue we have is no one wants to cut into the beautiful icing plumerias on top -- wish there was a way to preserve them. I posted a picture on Facebook, and it was "liked" by my friends back on the mainland. The taste of the guava+strawberry icing was a hit with everyone -- delicious, moist, consumed by all. Haven't yet tried the top tier coconut/pineapple, but this is the most flavorful wedding cake!

We've been to many weddings, however we have never had cake like this before. Maybe we're biased, after all, we DID choose the flavors, but no wedding cake we've had can come close to our cake/cupcakes in terms of flavor and texture. We just wish we had some more to savor! I have to say when I met Kirsten at the wedding cafe for our tasting I died and went to cake heaven! I knew if the cakes tasted like this I could only imagin what our cake was going to look like! Our cake was exactly what I pictured in my head. We changed our design and when I told A cake life about this they did not hesitate to send over a new drawing to us. The sketch was amazing and when I saw the cake in real life my husband and I could not believe has beautiful it was.. Everyone talked about the amazing taste and look. My only regret is that I couldn't bring it home to Australia with me :( I was in cake love!!! A cake life is defiantly the one stop shop for your wedding cake! You won't be disappointed! The entire experience working with Kristin has been a fantastic experience...much better than all the other vendors we had to deal with. The quality of the cake she provided to us was one the the best we've ever had. Her responsiveness to questions and concerns was very prompt (within 24 hours if not sooner). She provided ideas to us when we didn't know which direction to go to...which showed her true value. We can honestly tell that Kristin has a passion for her craft, and that it carries over to the overall experience that she provides to her clients. Kristin made us an amazing cupcake tower with a single cake tier on top for our wedding, and it was fantastic! She ran with our soft, neutral beachy palette and created our cupcake tower in whites and ivories with seaglass-colored "floats" that perfectly matched our stationery and bridesmaid dresses, as well as tiny white sugar starfish and little pearls. It worked perfectly with our color palette and overall aesthetic...coastal without being too kitschy. I can't stop looking at photos of our cake! But the best part is that everything was DELICIOUS. We chose four cupcake and filling combinations, all with white buttercream frosting, and they were all excellent. Some of our guests even confessed to eating four of them! Two days later, they're still moist and delicious, and we're still enjoying them. Plus, Kristin's pricing was reasonable and she was great to work with. Thanks Kristin!

I just used A Cake Life for my destination wedding in July. I came across this company through my wedding planner and decided to use them because of their great reviews. It was very scary using a vendor that I never got to meet with. I am a huge sweet eater and so is my whole family, so we had very high expectations for the cake. I gave Kristin a picture of the cake I wanted. I couldn't believe the cake she made. It was so much prettier than the picture I gave her! It was STUNNING! Since I was a destination bride, I had to chose my flavors without tasting them. I had a three tier cake: coconut cake with coconut filling, red velvet cake with cream cheese filling, and carrot cake with cream cheese filling. I used buttercream icing for the outside. All three flavors were to die for. All of my guest raved about the cake. This cake was above and beyond what I expected in looks and in taste. Kristin was so easy to work with and was very quick to respond to all emails. I would recommend her to anyone!

I highly recommend Kristin for any sort of cake design, small or big. She is so meticulous with each detail and really listens to her clients and works hard to deliver what they envision. My cake was 5 tiers, purple ombre, pearls, ruffles and gum paste flowers. It looked so amazing. Everyone could NOT stop talking about how beautiful it was. We had guava, lilikoi and cookies and creme flavor cake. The cake was moist, perfect texture and tasted delicious. Kristin is organized and has a good response time. During our consolation she was professional and helpful. Great service.

We live on the mainland but traveled to Oahu in dec 2011 to taste cakes and fell in love with Kristin and her cakes. For 6 months we communicated by email with Kristin, making arrangements with her for a custom cake and 8 dozen filled, decorated cupcakes for our daughter's wedding in June in ko olina. Kristin was helpful, creative and easy to work with. Her cake and cupcakes were beautiful, and delicious.

I had my destination wedding in Hawaii 6/22/12. I live in california and had to do all my research online. I came across reviews for cake life and they were all great so I decided to start communication. From my first email Kristin was great! She is so nice and answered ALL my questions, and I had A LOT! Responses were quick. I sent her image of a cake design I liked and she created it beautifully. I had a two tier cake for 46 servings. Bottom tier was yellow butter with fresh strawberry filling and top tier was coconut with pineapple filling. They both tasted amazing but my favorite was the coconut. Just delicious! All the guests loved the cake. The taste and look. I'm so happy I went with A Cake Life. Thank you Kristin!

After doing some research online and receiving recommendations from various other vendors, A Cake Life was the obvious choice to me for a creative, delicious wedding cake. The fears I mentioned above were quelled by the level of creativity and professionalism I received from them. They took my vision and brought it to life, providing me with sketches and exact details of what my cake would look like. My Cake was such a HIT!!!! My guests LOVED it, and were raving about it for weeks after the wedding!! We did a cupcake cake with the minimum order of mini and the the minimum order of regular cupcakes, with a guava and strawberry and cream filled little cake on top, and they decorated it for me, SO perfectly!!! Kristin was such a pleasure to work with, she made it all super easy to order the cake over email and phone.

I would highly recommend "A Cake Life" to anyone. The cake we had made for my daughters wedding was adapted from a picture we sent to Kirstin. THe cake not only looked amazing and surpassed our expectations but tasted great too!!!

Working with Kristin from A Cake Life was simple, easy and very professional. We requested an elegant 3-tier cake with "Tiffany blue" fondant, a white drape, scattered white sugar gardenias and silver pearls around the base of each tier. I was worried about whether the color would match but the cake turned out absolutely amazing! The cake flavor was white cake with strawberry buttercream which tasted heavenly!! Not only did the cake meet our expectations, our guests also admired and complimented us on the wedding cake. We are so glad to have worked with Kristin.

We were very nervous about our cake since we were having a destination wedding and could not sample it beforehand. We were pleasantly surprised because the cake was absolutely delicious and beautiful. I am normally a chocolate cake person but this time I actually liked the strawberry better because it was just so good. This worked out well because I think my husband ate the remaining chocolate layer on his own. We have both had much more expensive cakes that did not taste half as good. Thank you!

Kristin and her team did an amazing job, not once but twice! We ordered an Alaskan themed grooms cake for our rehearsal dinner. She paid attention to the little details and it showed. The other was our wedding cake. We ordered a wedding cake with additional sheet cakes... super moist and to die for! Our wedding cake left us speechless... it was gorgeous and everything we wanted and more! We are OBSESSED with the white cake with fresh strawberry filling and the chocolate cake with peanut butter filling. They were peerfect. We are already thinking of reasons to order another cake....

When our wedding coordinator suggested Kristin, my fiance got very excited, since she remembered reading about A Cake Life in Midweek. Kristin listened to what my fiance imagined her cake looking like, then proceeded to make it into a reality. That she designed a cake that was even more beautiful than what my now-wife imagined is a testament to her vision. That the taste was superb is proof of her talent. We are hoping to order more cakes from her, just to share with people who couldn't attend our wedding.

Kristin and her assistant did a phenomenal job on all of the details: from creating an aesthetically appealing cake, an extremely satisfying cake, to delivering and setting the cake up; everybody was very impressed! The coconut cupcakes were fantastic and the guava cake with strawberry cream filling was absolutely amazing!

Additionally, we had a mishap on our end. Kristin and her assistant waited for someone to meet her at the reception site for 40 minutes. That dedication is unbelievable. They didn't complain that we were late, they just made sure we were happy with everything!...and we were!

Kristin Kato was referred to us by a family member and completely lived up to our expectations. Kristin is professional from start to finish. In our first meeting, she helped us narrow down our flavors, by letting us sample some requested cakes and some that she recommended. In our second meeting, Kristin helped us envision our wedding cake design and she really put it in perspective with a sketch. We knew exactly what we wanted for our grooms’ cake, and it turned out perfect and beyond expectations. We received lots of compliments on the presentation and the flavor of the cakes. Kristin was quick to follow up on all communication and cleared information so that everyone was on the same page. We highly recommend A Cake Life and will definitely utilize their service in the future!

I contacted A Cake Life to make a surprised grooms cake for my now husband. My husband loves to golf. I got him a golf themed cake where he was laying on the ground, blowing his ball into the hole. I met with Kristen and she was so nice and willing to go with my budget. When I actually saw the cake I was amazed at the details she got onto the cake. Kristin was amazing to work with. We got cupcakes with a cake topper - red velvet and yellow cake/strawberry cream filling. Our guests were raving about the cakes, especially that strawberry cream filling. You can tell they use the best ingredients and the cake was so moist. It was even better than I remembered from our tasting.

Little girls all over the world dream about their fairy tale wedding or princess gown, and these dreams sometime stretch into adulthood. I was not one of them. However, the one element I hoped for was the perfect wedding cake, “a piece of art.”
When we met with Kristin for the first time I came armed with many different photos incorporating many different design details.
Then I shared my story. Kristin seemed touched by this and was ready to make this dream come true.

The story didn’t stop there. The groom has a love for shoes. On a recent trip to New York we were on the hunt for a specific pair, but were out of luck. I thought it would be fun to have a groom’s cake replica of the shoe he desired. After many photos and conversations the grooms cake was realized (in a true size 10), and it was remarkable.
Every little detail down to the shoelaces and stitching on the leather trim was included.

Both cakes were definite showpieces and the talk of all our guests.
The actual wedding cake was beautiful and it couldn’t have been easy. After tasting the butter cream (delicious) I knew I wanted it versus fondant. I was worried that it wouldn’t look as clean and smooth, but it was not an issue. It exceeded my expectations.
The groom’s cake was a hit and looked too real to eat (… but we did of course).
Our vision was executed to perfection.

Kristin and her team are amazing. She listens, communicates, and delivers.
She is a true talent and we will recommend A Cake Life over and over again.

Kristin is wonderful to work with! I was indecisive about what I wanted my cupcake cake to look like but Kristin was so patient and helpful. I corresponded with her entirely over e-mail and she was prompt and very thorough in all of her communications.

The cupcake tower looked so good! I couldn’t believe it! I knew it would look good from the pictures on their website but it was more than I expected when I saw it in person. It was perfect!

If there is any reason for me to order a cake next time I’m in Hawaii – it’ll definitely be through A Cake Life!

The lilikoi wedding cake was delicious and we got many compliments on it! The flowers on top of the cakes were perfect and it looked fantastic with the cake plates that I provided. Kristin was so patient with all my anal-retentive e-mail correspondence and worked with a few inspiration images that I sent her. Rather than have a single large cake, we agreed on a more challenging motif of 6 variously-sized cakes (with one of them being a two-tier) with slightly different colors and surface textures. The only thing I would have changed is that the tonal/color variation of the cakes wasn't quite as subtle as the inspiration image I sent, but the frosting textures was so beautiful I barely noticed on my wedding day. If you are particular about your wedding design, you may have to be creative or hire additional help as Kristin wasn't able to provide loaner cake stands/plates or recommend a local resource. I wanted a particular vintage look with variously-sized cake stands at different heights and had to provide/make my own stands. These were such minute details, though, and I was overjoyed by the cakes Kristin prepared - I would highly recommend her!

We ordered a two-tiered cake with 2 different flavors for each tier. The cake itself was beautiful and we had many compliments on the design but we were really disappointed in the taste. The flavor of the tiers were switched and the cake was very, very dry to the point where it was almost inedible.

On the day of the wedding, she delivered the cake on time and even came to personally congratulate me. I can not imagine any other sweet person who fits the description of a cake maker for a joyous occasion than Kristin!

My wedding cake & cupcakes were done by A Cake Life, and they were perfect! I had planned my Hawaiian Wedding from Seattle, so all of my correspondence with the local vendors was via phone and email. Kristin from A Cake Life, was absolutely wonderful to work with. She initiated phonecalls and emails to help gather ideas and to provide me with her own creative suggestions. She was prompt, professional, warm and friendly throughout the several months we communicated. I opted to go with a simple, yet elegant top cake and cupcakes decorated with orchids. It was a beautiful cake and cupcake display, and it tasted delicious. The ordering and contract process was simple, and Kristin was able to combine our ideas and created exactly what I had pictured for my wedding, all without us meeting in person. If and when I am ever celebrating again in Hawaii I will definitely work with Kristin again.

I was given cart blanche by my son & his fiancee to create their cupcake wedding cake. After researching many wedding cake vendors, I decided on Kristin. I can't say enough about her, since I had to do this from San Diego. She responded quickly to my emails (very important to me!), always answering all of my questions & making some great suggestions. She was very flexable when I made changes a few times. Having brought ideas together from both of us, she created a cake that was more than I envisioned. It was absolutely beautiful, & at the same time different & unique. The sugar flowers were unbelieveable!

Of course, not being able to meet personally with Kristin to view or taste her cakes was a concern to me, plus hoping that my vision was going to be the same as hers, was definitely put aside when I saw my son & new daughter-in-laws cake.

Ok, so i went to High School with Kristin, so i was very happy when i found out she was doing wedding cakes. We easily chatted over facebook and through email and she has been so professional and kind throughout the whole process.

My husband and i could not stop eating her samples. HER BUTTERCREAM FROSTING IS TO DIE FOR!!!!!!

Since my husband is a coconut addict - we went with yellow cake with coconut cream filling for our top tier and our cupcakes were devil's food cake with cookies and cream filling along with the yellow cake/coconut cream. DELICIOUS I TELL YOU!!!!!! so moist and yum yum yummy.

Our cake was simple and i supplied the ribbon, brooch and cake topper, but Kristin did an amazing job on the set up.

I seriously want to keep coming back to her for more of her delicious cakes! thank goodness for birthdays!!! :)

Kristin did an outstanding job on our wedding cake, it was what I envision my cake to be. We went with a three tier cake and it was a hard decision on what we would pick for our cake favor. However, Kristin was able to accommodate three different favors, I would highly recommend the gauva, fresh strawberry with cream, and last but not least her dobash cake. Our families also really enjoyed it. Even thou you are suppose to keep the top tier and freeze it, my husband and I couldn't resist but eat half and freeze the other. It was that good. Kristin Kato did such a great job on my wedding cake. It is one of the fondest memories I have of my wedding.

Cake Consultation: We had a fish theme wedding and we are fish nerds. We asked Kristin to put specific fish on the wedding cake and we wanted a colorful design. Kristin came to our cake consultation very prepared with examples of fish/ocean wedding cakes she had done in the past. Though she came with examples, she was very open to what we wanted on the cake. Within a few days, she sent us a sketch of the cake and it was adorable. She is very good at drawing and based on her sketches, we had to have her make our cake. During our consultation, we tried the guava cream, the lilikoi and the chocolate cream cakes. They were all delicious. Her cakes are very fluffy and not heavy, which was great.

Communication between each other via email: As I was planning a destination wedding from California, email was the easiest way for me to correspond. Some of the vendors in Hawaii can take forever to respond. Kristin was the opposite (which was VERY much appreciated). She always answers emails within 1-2 days.

Ease of completing a wedding cake contract: This process was very easy with Kristin. Our guest count increased within a month of our wedding and Kristin was able to update our contract within days and send us a revised invoice very quickly.

Cake delivery/set-up and quality of the product: Kristin set up the cake on time. The cake had an adorable "sand (sugar)" bottom. When I saw the cake with the specific fish we asked for, I almost cried! We changed our fish theme and she was able to incorporate the fish on our invitations as the cake topper. Everyone absolutely loved our cake and took a million pictures of it. It was really hard for me to cut such a beautiful cake!! The cake also tasted delicious. We had the butter cake with guava creme, coconut cake with pineapple creme, and chocolate cake with lilikoi creme. It was great she could give us a different combo for each layer. Each layer was delicious! Our guests all loved it too.

All our guests were impressed when they saw the hand made flowers that sat on top of cakes. When I saw her website I knew that this was the bakery that we would pick for our wedding. Kristin was wonderful to work with! We had a very difficult task as our family has a traditional cake which is served at all our weddings but it is very hard to find this type of cake since it is out of style. I went through several designers until we found Kristin. Kristin took up the challenge and worked with us through numerous tastings to get the exact taste we were looking for - the cake was wonderful! At the tasting, we fell in love with several of Kristin's specialties and ended up using three of her flavors in our wedding cake. The wedding cake was beautiful, I just had to tell her my vision (and the grooms vision) and she made it happen! All night, we were getting complements on the cake. Kristin is extremely talented!

Kristin Kato with A Cake Life is truly talented. She made an amazing “island shaped, dirt bike themed” grooms cake for our rehearsal. After a brief description of what I wanted, she sent me a color sketch making my vision a reality. My husband and I were fortunate enough to meet with Kristin and our coordinator for a tasting 6 months prior to our wedding. The cake was to die for! Kristin is very detail oriented and so very thoughtful. She showed us hundreds of pictures and spent so much time with us until we decided on our perfect custom wedding cake. The top was white cake with vanilla custard filing with fondant along with tiny details that totally matched my dress. The bottoms tiers with the cutest little mini cakes that were topped with sugar flowers. Each flower was a flower that was incorporated in the wedding! Everyone raved about the cakes. Planning a destination wedding from the mainland isn’t easy but Kristin sure did her part in making it less stressful. We highly recommend Kristin Kato with A Cake Life.

The value of the cake and cupcakes were great. It tasted amazing. We were a little worried as she is a one woman show. However, she exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be recommending her to everyone we know.

We were pleased with the top tier of the cake, it was exactly what my daughter wanted. The cupcakes were perfect. I had never had that before and for our guests it was the perfect amount. Since we had to travel back to the mainland having a traditional cake wasn't an option.

I got married on the beautiful island of Hawaii last June 9, 2010. Now since it was a destination wedding, I had to book all the vendors through email! " A Cake Life "really alleviated my panic attack few weeks before my wedding! They were so responsive, accommodating and professional! The cake looked lovely and it was heavenly delicious!

Calling all local and DESTINATION brides! Words cannot describe how happy we were with our wedding cake by Kristin at A Cake Life. We spent a year planning our Destination Hawaii wedding from Michigan. We had never been to Hawaii and had no contacts. After extensive research and referrals from my other vendors I was happy to find A Cake Life.
Kristin's creativity for cakes is beyond your imagination. If you can explain your vision she can make it reality. Kristin sent me hand drawn cake diagrams in color until the design was what I had dreamed of.
Taking the 6 hour time different into account I had no problem communicating with A Cake Life at all. Kristin can be reached by phone or email at anytime for help and questions. Since I live in Michigan we weren't able to sample any cake prior to eating it the day of our wedding. When talking with A Cake Life I described the unique flavor and taste I was going for and they had great recommendations. I also had A Cake Life make a personal cake for our 84 year old Aunt as well. I explained Aunt Ruth to Kristin and she came up with the perfect flavor and design for her cake too.
Once we got to the reception I was really excited to see our beautiful cake. A Cake Life does a great job with presentation and even supplies boxes for any leftovers. All of our out of state guests were so impressed with how moist and flavorful our cake was. It was a real treat for everyone and something they'll be talking about for years to come.

My husband and I planned our wedding from California, which was a bit tough at times because of the 2,000+ miles between us and Hawaii. We weren't able to do cake testings like other non-destination couples get to do. But Kristin Kato from A Cake Life was an absolute pleasure to work with. She is such a creative individual. I knew I wanted a cupcake tower, but I wasn't quite sure about how I wanted it to look. Kristin was an absolute key component in this respect. When we spoke over the phone, she was able to ask just the right questions in order to get a sense for our style. Once we started talking about designs, I asked her opinion about almost everything. Her feedback was great! My husband and I couldn't have been happier with the final product. It was absolutely beautiful and completely in line with our style. She was able to bring in our wedding colors and incorporate the theme from our invitations. Not to mention, it was delicious! We ordered five different flavors: yellow butter, devils food, devils food with peanut butter cup filling, red velvet, and red velvet with cream cheese filling. Our square cake topper was devils food with chocolate buttercream filling (I highly recommend it!).

Thank you, thank you, thank you Kristen. What a scrumptious and beautiful wedding cake you made for us. Kristen was great to work with and flexible with her time to meet with us. She had some wonderful ideas that expanded on what we wanted on our simple yet elegant cake. The sugar flowers she made for the cake looked very realistic. The cake flavors were moist and delicious. We had Yellow cake with Lilikoi filling for the top (which came home with us), Red velvet and cream cheese filling for the middle tier, and the bottom tier was guava cake with a guava cream filling. Even though we had a desert bar at the wedding with various delectable goodies on hand, the cake was cut up early and also served as an option to our guests. Let me tell you that all of the two bottom layers of cake slices were snatched up by our guests. Kristen provided us with an awesome cake at a reasonable price. We will definitely use her again for future cakes or cupcake orders. She's definitely an up and coming cake marvel. Mahalo nui loa Kristen, Eliot and Mie.

Kristin made our beautiful cupcake tower for our wedding. Nine delicious flavors of over 250 mini-cupcakes arranged artfully with a small square topper - vanilla with lilikoi filling (heaven in cake form) - amazing! Our guests absolutely loved the cupcake tower idea and thought the cupcakes tasted better then most wedding cakes they'd had - even a Wienstock cake!
Kristin was an absolute pleasure to work with - she's responsive, creative, smart and can create whatever you envision. And if you're suffering from wedding decision making overload she'll gently lead you in the right direction. Cannot recommend her highly enough!
