Reviews for A Piece of Cake
GUEST

A Piece of Cake provided our cake pop favors, wedding cake and a special cake for my grandmother's birthday (presented at the reception). All were delicious and wonderful. The price was great, quality was amazing. Highly recommended!

Laurie did an amazing job of recreating a cake I had seen in a magazine. We received many complimnents on how beautiful & delicious the cake was. I appreciated her honesty regarding flavors and size and there wasn't a crumb left as our guests went back for seconds!! She was very easy to work with and very responsive to my emails and questions. I was great to work with her as she took the stress out of this part of the planning process.

Our cake and service were good, but not perfect. We sent a picture of a cake to be duplicated. A great job was done. I thought it was great, my bride was not as pleased. I can say that it was delicious! But my bride asked for white chocolate shells and was charged extra. The shells ended up being marshmallow. They were good, but we were never asked to approve the substitution, nor informed that one was being made. We didn't know until we ate it. We were dissatisfied with the communication during the last 2 weeks. More reassurances would have been appreciated.

Our cake was included in our package with the Grand Plaza Hotel, but that is not to say that we settled A Piece of Cake for our baker. My friend got married a year prior and used A Piece of Cake and I was impressed by the taste and look of her cake, so when I saw them on the list of preferred vendors for the Grand Plaza I knew we had to have them. Our meeting with Laurie was very casual which I enjoyed. I brought pictures of what we wanted our cake to look like - she sketched out what the cake would look like and we sampled several of their delicious flavors. On our wedding day I was blown away by how beautiful our cake was and even more pleased with how yummy it was!

Laurie did an amazing job on our cake! Not only was it the best looking cake, it was the best tasting cake! I am very happy we chose "A Piece of Cake" for our wedding cake designer!
GUEST

Our wedding cake was delicious! Laurie offers a variety of flavor combinations. We had three different ones and our guests raved about all of them. The cake looked gorgeous. Laurie was able to take our vision and make it a reality. Thanks so much for doing an amazing job on our cake, Laurie!
GUEST

Our wedding cake was beautiful, I would recommend A Piece of Cake for your wedding cake. Laurie did a really good job on the wedding cake. She is professional and a pleasure to work with.

Laurie was great to work with - when we first met her and had the cake tasting, she had great ideas and was so nice. We wanted to do something a little unique and different beyond the standard cake or cupcakes theme, so we collectively came up with a cake pops idea with 150 cake pops (4 different flavors) along with a 6" sheet cake for us to cut. Laurie showed us some photos of how the cake pops looked on a stand and how it was set up from previous weddings and we were really excited for the idea. I guess our expectations were really high b/c the only part of our wedding that wasn't amazing was our cake :-( The presentation of the stand looked ok, but the big bummer was that the outer chocolate shell of some of the cake pops started to crack so they had to be taken off of the stand and put in the fridge so they could hold together. Essentially, we got a few pics of the cake pops in the stand when we first entered the reception hall but right after the pops had to be moved so the only thing we had for the cake cutting was the 6" cake and 4" tier above it....not the ideal pics for the photo album. When dessert time came around, the cake pops were put out on the chocolate fountain table for our guests to enjoy (really glad we got the fountain b/c the cake failed to impress from a presentation stand point). The consolation: when we sampled the pops, they were really good!!So we had to ding Laurie for this - although she was really nice and the actual cake and pops were very tasty, the whole aura of having our wedding cake/cake pops displayed for everyone to see during dinner and reception was kind of ruined. She was one of two cake vendors that our wedding planner recommended so I'm sure she is top notch but for our event, it was a bit of a let down.

The cake was excellent. The presentation was beautiful and it was the best red velvet cake I have ever tasted.

I gave a piece of cake 5.0 stars because they deserve it! When my husband and I met Laurie for the first time to pick out our wedding cake we knew that she was the person to create our cake for us. She was very professional, but she was also personable and hilarious. Her cakes are delicious!!! I am not a big fan of fruit as a filling for cake but when I tried her blueberry buttercream filling... omg I was in love! We choose a 3 tier beach wedding themed cake. The top tier was the blueberry buttercream that we have in the freezer and will eat on our 1 year anniversary. She responds super fast to emails, and our cake was gorgeous. We received so many compliments and it was soo delicious. I recommend A piece of cake to anyone looking for a stress-free vendor that can make your dream cake come to life. Thank you soo much for everything Laurie!
GUEST

I got the red velvet cake, and it tasted wonderful!!! They worked with me on my budget and made the process very easy.
GUEST

A Piece of Cake not only makes beautiful cakes, but more importantly one that tastes great! Our guests all commented on how great the cake tasted. The owner designed the cake off of what I envisioned which turned our beautiful. I would use them if you are in the St.Petersburg/Clearwater/Tampa area!
GUEST

A Piece of Cake made me the most delicious cake I and many of my guests had ever eaten - and it was VEGAN! It was very difficult for me to locate a baker who would make me a vegan cake and Laurie did an amazing job. When I gave the first bite to my husband he could not believe it was vegan, nor could my guests. Everyone absolutely loved the cake and I cannot wait to eat the top layer on our anniversary. We got the vanilla cake, with strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. Laurie even handmade 2 kissing peacocks for the topper. It was beautiful.

I was so disappointed with my wedding cake! When I first met with Laurie, i saw lots of pictures of different cakes that she had done in the past. I fell in love with this one design and we discussed about having pictures on the cake of my husband and I. Laurie told me that she was able to do this cake with no problem. I should have known from the very beginning to not work with her, because it took SEVERAL weeks to just get a contract from her. Laurie was horrible with responding to emails. She only responded to one of my emails immediately, and that was an email that was in regards to final payment. The week before my wedding I tried to get a hold of Laurie to discuss the delivery time and she NEVER called me back. I had to respond with someone other than Laurie via email. I told them I wanted my cake deliverd before the ceremony, and she argued with me that they were going to deliver my cake during coctail hr. I have NEVER heard of a cake being delivered during coctail hour, and I was very uncomfortable with the idea. The day of my wedding my wedding cake looked horrible!!! I had picked out 12 pictures to go on the wedding cake. Including a VERY important picture of my husbnd and his grandmother (which passed away a couple of weeks before the wedding) Some of the pictures were not on the cake including the one with my husband and grandmother!!! The taste of the cake was delish, but there was more icing and fondant than cake. I would not recommend A Piece of Cake to any bride!! they are not worth the headache!!!

Bride came in March 2010 for a tasting and received second set of samples in December at no charge. The cake that the client picked was a cake that I have done before. It is a cake where the top tier was the middle cake and the middle cake was the top tier. Again this cake has been done by me before and did not have any issues nor did I have issues with the first cake. 4/6/2010 10:04 pm I was contacted, 10:20pm I responded 4/15/2010 8:00pm I was contacted, 10:00pm I responded 4/16/2010 7:01 pm I was contacted, 11:03pm I responded 5/3/2010 1:05 am I was contacted, 11:49pm I responded 5/10/2010 2:54pm I was contacted, 7:37 pm I responded 12/4/2010 7:04 pm I was contacted, contacted her two days later 12/6/2010 11:13pm I was contacted, 11:42pm I responded 4/14/11 12:12pm I was contacted, 4/15 12:33 pm I responded I met with the client for the third time and she asked if I could personally print out one of the pictures (and did not charge her for doing this print for the ink or the paper of which she took home to show her finance and never heard back from them) 6/2/11 12:09 I was contacted 6/7/11 3:59pm I was contacted, 5:00pm I responded 6/7/11 5:03 I was contacted, 5:23 I responded The client asked for the cake to be delivered before the ceremony started. Mirror Lake Lyceum is where we delivered the cake, the clients get married in the main area, go downstairs for the cocktail and then come back up for the reception, it is a narrow window and have delivered many, many times here before of which this has always been done this way. I spoke with the fiance directly of which I EXPLAINED, not argued about the fact that the cake would be sitting out for more than four hours and I never talked to the bride as she stated, I spoke only with her fiance. I go by the Department of Agriculture, my Food Manager certificate of which states clearly that any item that has eggs, butter, milk should not be out for more than four hours at a time. I was only guiding them. The fiance stated that he works in the food service industry and understood and still wanted the delivery time when they wanted it. Maybe I did not call her back with the time, but there sure is an email on 6/8 at 3:02 pm stating that I was checking on the time and this was before the conversation with the fiance. On 6/2/11 at 12:09 am I received jpeg files from the bride I guess I must be really confused as there is no mention in that email or any after that one particular picture i more important than another. I made an error and just noticed that in my Outlook that she had attached so many pictures that there was a second page to it. I do admit to this mistake and am very sorry about it. I just noticed it. The cake had icing on it of course, but no more than any others also we use a material bench roller of which we roll the cake 1/2 cm in thickness. Her cake also had another layer of the frame and picture and two large fondant bows. Again there was no additional fondant but several layers because this is the design that she asked for and wanted. So I responded 16 different times throughout the process, most all the time within a couple of hours. The brides cake was made to her specifications with the omission of three pictures, cake was delivered on time to her venue and specifications, she obviously enjoyed the cake and stated so in her review but still left a "0.0" rating ?????

I give A Piece of Cake 5 out of 5 stars in every category because I could not have been more happy with my cake!! Laurie was easy to work with and very friendly. My cake was BEYOND any expectations and I am so happy I chose her to be a delicious part of my day! I can't wait until my anniversaries so I can have her recreate certain layers! Thanks again!
GUEST

A Piece of Cake is truly in a league of their own when it comes to their wedding cakes. My wife and I tried a number of the top bakeries in Tampa and A Piece of Cake was by far the very best. Strawberry cake and passion fruit preserves and pineapple fillings along with butter cream and layers of goodness are all great things. I only wish my wife would have gotten more in my mouth, instead of all over my face during the cake cutting, but I would not have wanted a different memory and a different cake to embrace this magical day. Laurie and her team made this a very easy decision for us and I don't believe I will be able to wait for our one year anniversary to dive back into another piece. An absolute perfect 10!!!!
GUEST

We could not have been happier with our wedding cake. It was exactly what I had envisioned it looking like. We received many compliments on the cake at our reception. Not only how beautiful it was but how great it tasted. Many guests said it was one of the best wedding cakes they had ever eaten. I will definitely be using A Piece of Cake in the future for other events. The quality and design cannot be beat.
GUEST

Laurie was great to work with. The cake was so pretty and even better, it tasted great. We knew Laurie's cakes were delicious after the taste trial, but the actual wedding cake was great, too, and we heard it from all of our guests. They made our grooms cake as well and it turned out so cute - Brutus the Buckeye! We got asked a handful of times who the baker was because both of the cakes were so good! I highly recommend a Piece of Cake.
GUEST

I got a cupcake wedding cake from A Piece of Cake! It was exactly what I wanted. There were plenty of options for cake types, and I was able to have 3 different types of cupcakes and carrot cake on top for the cake for my husband and I. It looked great and went perfectly with the rest of my reception decorations. Laurie was very nice and helpful with any questions I had.
GUEST

Laurie did a wonderful job with our wedding cake. We got our cake larger than needed and we still had no pieces left over after the wedding. Guests were asking if there was more cake to take home!! That was how delicious our cake was. Very impressed. Thank you so much for making our big day a slice of heaven :)

My husband and I are from Indiana and planned a destination wedding in St. Petersburg, Florida on May 8, 2011. Our whole planning process lasted about a year. We booked our wedding at the Grand Plaza Resort and had a list of vendors to choose from. We picked this vendor because of the outstanding reviews, pictures and resort recommendations. Unfortunately, we were unable to make it down to Florida prior to the wedding....which meant we were unable to meet the baker, try flavors and pick out designs. We found a picture on the internet and sent it to her....the day of our wedding, the cake was gorgeous!!!! It was the perfect size for our small wedding but resembled the picture to a "T"!!! The cake tasted amazing. We had used almond and chocolate flavors with a fondant icing. Completely amazing taste...so moist and rich, perfect!!! Laurie was always quick to respond via email so we really did not worry much!! We were so pleased with her services and creativity, I would recommend them to anyone!!!
GUEST

Our cake was delicious and beautiful. And Laurie was wonderful to work with!
GUEST

A piece of cake did an amazing job on my 4 tier monochromatic wedding cake. I wanted every layer to be a different texture and Laurie helped me come up with a design that was cohesive and beautiful. The result was stunning and was a one of a kind cake that really gave the vibe I wanted for our wedding. Each layer was a different flavor and we cut into every layer so we could taste all of the amazing flavors. (YUM!) The dulce de leche cake pop escort cards were a hit with our guests and they are still talking about them!

My husband and I used A Piece of Cake for our wedding on April 29, 2011. This was a destination wedding and planning everything from Pennsylvania was very nerve racking. A Piece of Cake provided the Grooms cake for our rehearsal dinner our wedding cake for our reception. We were very pleased with both cakes. The Grooms cake was a Florida State Football helmet and the detail of the cake was amazing! It looked like a real football helmet. The wedding cake was key lime and butter cream frosting. Both cakes were very delicious and we received lots of compliments. I would definitely recommend them to anyone getting married in the Tampa Bay area!

We worked mostly with Laurie from "A Piece of Cake" and she was absolutely wonderful. Very easy to communicate with, and very experienced in what she does! We decided to do cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake, but aside from that had no real idea what direction we wanted to go in- Laurie was able to come up with something based on our direction that we loved. The taste of the cupcakes were amazing, and they stayed fresh the entire time, outside! Presentation was very nice and her prices were very reasonable. We were planning our wedding in Florida, from Virginia, and she made everything very easy on us. We were able to do a cake tasting, and she even was able to refer us to a linens vendor that she worked closely with (who also turned out to be wonderful) Very impressed with everything, would definitely recommend this vendor to anyone I knew getting married in Central Florida area.

I have to say that although the cake did taste very yummy my experience with A Piece of Cake could have been better. When I showed up at my reception there was NO cake. The table was just sitting there empty and I just about had a heart attack. My caters were extremely nice and tried to contact Laurie but had no luck in reaching her. So they attempted to find me some kind of dessert that we could serve. Then two teenagers show up in the middle of my reception with the cake. I couldn't believe how late it was! So I went over to look at it and it wasn't exactly what I ordered. Instead of the flowers cascading down one side they were all over the place. Also, my cake topper was suppose to be made to look like us, I even sent two pictures of myself and the groom but when lookng at the topper the bride didn't even have my hair color. It is clear to see that in the pictures I have red hair, kind of hard to miss but the bride on the cake was brunette!!

We were late on delivery on a Sunday/Easter weekend to Lakeland which is about one hour away. It is never our intention to be late obviously. The caterer called our office line ONE time and on Sunday. We are not in our shop, store is closed and we had NO contact number was provided to call. We did give the client eight orchids as ordered but with the topper being a sugar constructed bride and groom which took up the entire full top tier we could not do a cascading effect from top to bottom, I don't think she would have wanted the couple poked with sugar flowers so we made an adjustment. Clients cake was a small three tiered cake, the flowers were placed on each of the tiers. For the future we are going to request a contact number day of for this caterer. As far as teenagers delivering my cakes, I do not have any. I have an experienced driver who has delivered more than 500 cakes total and driven them from Orlando to Sarasota, the beaches and back. I do not leave such an important task for a teenager to do.

I ordered my cake 4 months before my wedding and wanted a simple, elegant cake. I decided to schedule a consultation with a Piece of Cake based on these reviews. The initial consultation went well, Laurie was professional, appeared thorough and was eager to give us the wedding cake that we wanted. Unfortunately, on the day of the wedding, we did not receive the cake that we ordered. Although the tiers were centered and the fondant looked good, the cake arrived late and was unfinished. We did not receive the large peony roses on top (we received 3 very small roses that made the cake appear disproportionate), they were not the correct color, the filling flavors were incorrect on two of the tiers, parts of the cake was overcooked (edges were burned) and the fondant was not homemade as we were told it would be. We will not be using a Piece of Cake for our future cake needs.
Vendor response to review
Client called and wanted an appointment on 1/3 and we booked a consultation for the following day. The cake was number F03 from my website which was an ivory fondant cake with sugar pearls. Client received a 6/9/12", 100 person serving cake, that was ivory fondant with the swags in the same position as on my site. On our contract we have listed (peonies/roses) and we used XL 3 inch roses and brushed the insides with blue centers which is listed on my contract as well. Client said she did not want the hard sugar pearls instead wanted piped dots and received them. We also had them listed for a fabric stand of which the client ltold us she would leave at the venue and did not bring to us so we could create one. As far as delivery time her ceremony was at 6pm in one room, 6:45 for the cocktail hour in another room, and 7:45 pm in another room for the reception. We arrived at 5:45 pm so we were not late. WE DO NOT bring our cakes so that they can sit out for extended periods of time. Clients flavors were Almond with Vanilla Bavarian Cream and Chocolate Ganache for the top, Chocolate with a thin smear of raspberry preserve and vanilla bavarian cream, and the bottom was Almond with Vanilla Bavarian Cream with a smear of chocolate ganache. These were not unusual flavors and know for a fact that all of them were made correctly as we do keep baking logs and have verified that. As far as a burnt cake please understand that each and every cake is handled and we did not notice any burns marks or crusted layers if we did we always would remove them. For the fondant in know way was it ever stated that our fondant is homemade, we use the same fondant Cake Boss and Ace of Cakes use. We have made homemade marshmallow fondant which does not hold up in the humidity therefore went to our current brand of which was the one sampled at the time of the tasting.

Laurie did an amazing job on our groom's cake. She made an XBOX 360 that looked life-like. It was everything we had hoped for!
GUEST

Working with Laurie was a pleasure. We gave her our vision and she turned it into a masterpiece. She did the groom's cakse for the white party we had the day before our wedding and I have to say OMG... everyone is still talking about the cake. She made the cake with my husband's face(from his high school yearbook pic) and the wedding cake was just stunning. And ofcourse they both tasted heavenly. Since we lived in washington DC and getiing married in Tampa, we had to do everything via email and phone. Laurie was always attentive, responsive, professional and extremely nice. I will definitely use her over and over and over again
GUEST

Our cake was amazing! I had a vision in mind that Laurie was able to make possible - we had a pina colada flavored cake, vanilla sponge, pineapple filling and coconut flavored buttercream with coconut flakes covering the cake. It was beautiful and delicious - I can't wait to enjoy the top tier on our 1 year anniversary!
GUEST

Laurie did a great job with my cake. UNIQUE is what we wanted for our Arabic wedding and we got it. She didn't follow the picture exactly for the color design on the main cake and the grooms cake was off in terms of the scale (the pillow was large compared to the cats that were on it, made them look like mice). The cake tasted delicious though. Moist and flavorful. A great value for the price.
GUEST

I absolutely love it!! I'm a big fan of desserts and A Piece Of Cake was able to delivery exactly what I wished for my wedding. The wedding cake was absolutely beautiful and delicious. The desserts were so well presented and high quality. I have some left over from the wedding and now it's been over a week and they still taste good! All my guests love it, and I absolutely love it. You can't go wrong with A Piece of Cake.
GUEST

Our wedding cake was DELICIOUS!!! Laurie is great!! On our initial meeting, we discussed with Laurie our vision for the cake. She then drew a picture of the cake and also added some unique touches. The cake tasting was fun too! Her cakes, filling, and frostings are all delicious and it was hard to choose! On the day of the wedding, I was so excited to see our cake! It turned out beautiful...and the most important part was that it was so YUMMY!!! I wanted more than just one piece! :) I will definitely use A Piece of Cake in the future and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and unique wedding cake!!!
GUEST

One of the most delicious cake I have ever had.
GUEST

this place is amazing! Laurie was so helpful. when we went for our initial visit she drew out the entire cake and was so creative and fun. we left some things up to her, and our cake was by far, one of the best things at our wedding. she also gave us tips on how to make the cake look beautiful on the table, like use a smaller table etc. I have to say I wasn't super excited about the cake before I met Laurie, and then it was one of the highlights for me at the wedding. Lastly, my sister is a cake snob....and she LOVED this cake. it was so sweet and yummy, you could tell it was made with all fresh and natural ingredients.
GUEST

The cake was fabulous! The look and the taste lived up to our expectations. We have family members who make great homemade cakes from scratch and Laurie can hang among the best of them. The cake tasted fresh and was very moist.
GUEST

I wanted something simple and elegant and Laurie made exactly what I was looking for. AND, it was the best tasting cake I have ever had. The almond cake with vanilla Bavarian cream icing was spectacular!
GUEST

Our wedding cake was amazing. I brought in a picture and she knew exactly what I was looking for and made it a dream come true. When I saw our wedding cake...I had tears fill my eyes because it was like she got in my head and then made it into a cake. It was truly breathtaking.
GUEST

Laurie is a really sweet person, the cake tasting was the most fun experience my husband and I had when planning the wedding, she was very personal and the cake looked amazing, perfect! owever the flavor was not what i ordered, and the cake was dry....didnt taste like the same delicious cake we had at the tasting, maybe if was just a misake, I would stil recommend her!

We have noted a problem with our Dulce De Leche cake of which she ordered, due to this review we have fixed the problem and also offered the bride a two tiered birthday cake at no charge of which she was very happy with.
GUEST

My cake was absolutely wonderful! Laurie created a one of a kind masterpiece! Thank you! I've never tasted a wedding cake like it! Fabulous!
GUEST

A Piece of Cake was WONDERFUL! Her strawberry cake was absolutely amazing!! We were beyond happy with the look and taste of our cake. The price was very reasonable for the size of cake we had! Our guests raved about it!! Also, A Piece of Cake has the best fondant I have yet to taste. It is incredibly good, which is unusual for fondant, and you actually eat it! (unlike most fondant). The look of my cake was perfect! I emailed her a picture and ..wa-la! It could not have been more perfect. Even up until a week beofre the wedding I was changing things and she was so understanding! When we went for our tasting, everything was decorated so cute! I truly felt like a bride and we left stuffed full of yummy cake! I would suggest A Piece of Cake by far to any bride I come across! I cannot wait to eat my top tier! YUMMY!!
GUEST

The cake looked exactly like the sketch I gave them - perfect! The only issue we had was that two tiers were to be filled with chocolate and one with another filling but only one had chocolate. The cake was still delicious and I would definitely recommend them for your cake!
GUEST

Our wedding cake was beautiful and everything I expected. Our guests loved it. We didn't have a slice left over! Me and my husband can not wait to be able to eat the top of the cake on our one year anniversary! Laurie really help us in deciding what flavors are good together and helped the design that I was imaging come to life. Highly recommend them for any type of cake you might need!
GUEST

I had my wedding last weekend (March 12, 2011) and my wedding cake came out amazing!!! I only told Laurie a couple details I wanted for the cake because I was too overwhelmed and it came out better than I could ever imagine. I am so happy I went with A Piece of Cake! I don't live in the area and was basing everything off reviews and I'm so happy I went with them! Thanks for everything!!!Erin

2 weeks before our wedding, our guest count dropped significantly enough that we had to revamp our menu in order to meet our minimum. It was great, since we got to go with one of the packages we had originally wanted(before our parents exploded the guest list... ). The new package actually included our cake! Since we hadn't yet placed our order, or made any deposits with our original baker, we called and cancelled that, and got in touch with the vendors our package would include.Laurie, the owner of Piece of Cake, called me on her way to dinner within 24 hours of my email. We discussed a basic idea, some flavors, and she directed me to her website for some photos.the photo were awesome! We were having a Great Gatsby theme, with peacock feathers and pearls predominately featured, and she had actually done a similar cake!Within a few days, and only via email (we live in Orlando, the wedding was in St Pete), we had decided on a 3 tier rounded cake with an ivory buttercream, royal blue scattered peacock swirls, and a pearl detailing. We had a red velvet layer with vanilla bean buttercream, creamy vanilla with a chocolate buttercream, and marble with raspberry filling. No pictures, no tasting-our choice, there just wasn't time- just the exact description above...It was perfect!! And delicious! She even put edible pearls as little studs in the peacock swirls as a beautiful accent. Everyone talked about how delicious it was...and my family raved that the red velvet was almost as good as my late Grandmothers...which is the greatest compliment to any baker.Highly recommended! Easy to work with, great to respond, takes your vision and enhances it. Oh yeah...and soooo yummy!:)

Laurie at A Piece of Cake was wonderful!! She was very friendly and professional and was very willing to work with my Japanese themed wedding. The cherry blossom cake she made was a dream and went PERFECTLY with my cake toppers! I had some extra additions to my guest list at the last moment and she even threw in a dozen cupcakes for me. Her cake was one of the BEST cakes I had ever tasted!! Highly highly recommended!!!!

Laurie made both our wedding cake and grooms cake (for the rehearsal dinner) just like we wanted and better. They tasted and looked great! Thanks!!! :)

Laurie made our dream cake! The cake, exceeded all of our expectations. Our family and guests are still raving about our unique, delicious and spectacular wedding cake. The presentation and taste of our cake was simply elegant and decadent. Laurie has asked for and received permission to have our cake displayed on her website. My wife and I find ourselves going to Laurie's web-page frequently just to take a peek at this work of art which was enjoyed by all. Kelvin & Fontella

Great cupcakes. Her husband returned a few phone calls. Rude man.Make sure you clarify a delivery time for the product in the contract, or else they will decide to drop it off during the ceremony.
Vendor response to review
As far as time of delivery...it is written on each and every contract as well as we typically call the venue to let them know who we are and when the cakes/cupcakes will be delivered. In this particular instance we had about six deliveries on this day of which this one was part of, we had our delivery time already set. At 11:30 am ON THE DAY OF THE WEDDING the fiance comes to our shop unexpectantly and asks if we can change the delivery time. I advised him that we will do our best but cannot guarantee that time as we already had our schedule set. As I recall we had our time set and during the week they pushed it forward by an hour, called and then wanted it switched back and then came in on Saturday and wanted it pushed forward again. The venue that they had was a one way in and one way out and the reason for their change was that the ceremony had been moved outside or perhaps it was all the time and never told us. We write down where the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception areas are and the times that each one occur. We did not DECIDE to drop it off at any time, we did the best we could do with the change made 5 hours before and where still there BEFORE the original time.My office staff are all girls with the exception of my delivery drive.

Laurie,My email stated if you read carefully that there was "NO STRAWBERRY FILLING ALL LAYERS WERE IDENTICAL" so I don't know where you are getting your information saying that i said there was filling and then there was not at some point. Bottom line you did not have your "STUFF" together it appeared you threw together my cake at the last minute between losing my receipts and accusing me of still owing money when i did not and then not making my cake look the and taste the way I asked you did not deliver. (ie:The monogram looked like my 18 mo. old daughter drew it). You were unprofessional then and now you are lying and still showing your unprofessional nonbusiness like behavior. Own up to your mistakes. Although it is none of your business my refund from the rusty pelican had nothing to do with your cake. The rusty pelican did not put some of my appetizers out for my guest which i payed for and did not serve my vendors their meals so I was very much entitled to my refund thank you very much. Also I did invest 400 dollars into the cake whether you and the rusty pelican split it or not is not my concern it still went to toward that cake looking and tasting a certain way for my guests and it was at all the picture I gave you to copy.
Vendor response to review
This client was a Rusty Pelican couple. She did have a scheduled tasting the first time of which she forgot to come in. Her words "I already set up an appointment for this week at 1130 I thought it was monday but I guess you guys are closed mondays. I'm not sure what day its for I will try calling you again tomorrow. Thanks"Her second appointment she was nearly one hour late. She came in for the tasting and decided to go with the NY cheesecake on the bottom and the 1/2 yellow and 1/2 chocolate rum cake with vanilla bavarian cream. She asked that the color of the cake be wysteria of which she never provided a color swatch. She upgraded to fondant which was an additional $195 NOT $400. She paid her deposit the day of the appointment. On 12/7 we called to verify the details of her order WHICH WE DO FOR EVERY CLIENT to confirm that nothing has changed as so many times it does. On 12/8 she emails and said that she found a gold cake stand that is 12" her cake is 10" at the very bottom so we could only put it on a 12" board which left very little room for any flowers that were large at the bottom.I receive a email from the venue TWO days ago from today stating that the filling in the cake was not there and that they want money back. They also received money back from the venue. Mind you this is over ONE MONTH after the wedding has past. I emailed the bride to find out what the situation was as the husband stated that there was no filling in the cake. We have our baking logs to prove that we made what they asked and a signed contract. Her email below on January 20th...I have made attemps to contact you right after the wedding. I also sent you an email letting you know there was NO cheesecake layers or strawberry filling on any layer all layers were identicle. The appearance of the cake was not up to par either as i stated in the email i sent about a month ago. I will forward that. Between you and the rusty pelican i invested 400 into the cake and i expected it to look and taste how i asked. I do not want another cake if you are not willing to make this right i will take this up with the rusty pelican. Now it turns out that there was filling in the cake, just not the right kind and that the cake was not up to par.Yes I do have a No cash refund policy as to prevent situations like this where the cake was entirely consumed and then after one month they want money back. I did offer to make an anniversary cake to make them happy even though we did nothing wrong. If she was not happy with the flavors at the time of the tasting she surely could have gone to the other places and did not have to chose us just because we are on the list and she could have paid real premium prices but elected not to do so.

A Piece of Cake did an extrodinary job on my wedding cake! I brought in a picture of my dream cake (it was done in different colors than I wanted). The dream cake was a $2,000 beauty. They made the exact same cake for me and the colors I wanted were done beautifuly. It was perfect and the price was beyond reasonable! Everyone loved it and it tasted delicious!!!!Thank you so much Laurie and A Piece of Cake Team!!!!

No one has prompted me to writing this review but I feel it is necessary. We had gone to other wedding cake companies and none compare to this one! If you desire the most beautiful, moist and most delicious cake, you will call "A Piece of Cake". Laurie sat with me, listened to what I wanted and made suggestions to make it even better. It was delivered on time and displayed just beautifully before our wedding. Lastly, "A Piece of Cake" offers better than competitive prices. I will use this company for any and every occasion we will host in the future!

I was recommended a few different vendors to design my cake for my destination wedding on Nov 27th/10 in Dunedin, Florida. Being from Canada... it was almost impossible for me to meet my vendors in person. As I contacted a few vendors, whether they were too busy to deal with me, or they just didn't want to... I didn't receive any phone calls back.... EXCEPT for Laurie at "A Piece Of Cake". Laurie answered all my questions quickly and was more than accomodating to help me out! I even changed cakes after a couple of weeks. We communicated solely through Email and 1 or 2 Phone Conversations. My Wedding Cake was everything I wanted and more... and the flavours were as per her recommendation, and I cannot wait to have our 1 year anniversary cake! Thanks to Laurie and her staff for helping me design and make my Wedding Cake from all the way up here in Canada. It definately made the process of planning a destination wedding so much easier!

Working with Laurie from A Piece of Cake was great! The cake turned out fantastic and tasted sooo good! Everyone loved it! I will definitely recommend their services to anyone and we will definitely be getting another cake from them sometime in our future - maybe for our anniversary!

Our daughters' wedding cake was beautiful and delicious. We had many compliments!

When we tried Laurie's cakes, we knew that we didn't need to look anywhere else. They are so delicious and so moist. You can tell that it's made fresh. We loved that she offers so many different flavors, because it worked out perfectly for the concept we had for our wedding cake. It was great working with Laurie and I hope to use her services again in the future.

A Piece of Cake was wonderful to work with. The cake was phenominal. So moist. She was very flexible with delivery time as I got married end of October in FL. Its still kind of warm and I really wanted buttercream frosting in an outdoor setting. She offered delivering the cake at a later time so the cake wouldn't melt. She also did a beautiful surprise grooms cake and since my mom can't eat gluten made a miniture replica of my wedding cake gluten free all for my mom. All for a very reasonable price.

Chef Laurie made the cake process so much fun. We tried many different cake venders, but from the time we walked into her kitchen we knew we found our cake chef! To start off, the process can be overwhelming and a lot of places where very pushy. However, Chef Laurie was so laid back, and excited to try any option that we brought up. If she didn’t have it, she would try and buy it, make it, or even borrow it. We were so unsure of what flavor fillings to use because everything tasted so good, so we used multiple fillings throughout our cake. Unlike many places we tried before, she even helped us find ways to save money. The night of our wedding, our cake was a focal point. The stand she provided along with the lighting we added made the cake really stick out. The groom’s cake was second to none. A fire helmet that people couldn’t believe was a cake. She was able to scan pictures of decals on the helmet and spray them onto the cake to make it even more customized and realistic. A year later now and she hasn’t for got us! We are getting a fresh cake to celebrate our one year, and relive the night that was so special to us. Amongst all of the stressful things of a wedding day, I can honestly say the cake was something I never had to worry about! If you’re looking for just a cake then go to Publix. If you’re looking for a true professional, someone you can trust, and someone who really take pride in their work, then A Piece of Cake is the place!

2- words.... MMMMMmmmmm DELICIOUS! Seriously though our cakes were superb! It was very easy to work with Laurie and her staff at her shop. She was accommodating and her creativity is greatly appreciated. I heard of A Piece of Cake through my venue and went in for our tasting. We were able to come up with a few creations until we found the perfect flavor, and in our case it was 3.. LOL so we decided to have 2 on our wedding cake and then use the 3rd for the grooms cake. Our grooms cake was Star Trek themed. The way Laurie interpreted the concept was awesome, & even though we had a simple wedding cake it did not take away from her attention to detail on it. Also the way the cake was displayed at the venue was great modern and elegant. All the guest raved about how moist and delicious the cakes were. Thank you! ~Adriana Shaw

Okay, this is going to be a hard one for me to review because I really enjoyed working with Laurie. She was really easy to work with and she had the best tasting cake ever! Took us 2 tastings and 1 Bridal Expo to choose a flavor. Although I think our cake may have been lost in the shuffle of a busy day.. or something??Up until the wedding day, we did not experience any problems with this vendor. However on the wedding day, I did have some issues. The cake arrived later than we expected, but at least before the reception started. Next they forgot the extra cream cheese icing that I had requested to go along with the Grooms Cake. The biggest problem I had with this vendor, was the design on the cake. It was the design we spoke of, but it looked like someone new to cake decorating, decorated it. I'm 10 years removed from working at a bakery and I could have done just as good of a job. What we received did not resemble, at all, the quality of work that we had seen in A Piece of Cake's portfolio. Don't even think they would want to put it in their portfolio. Luckily, I had told my self earlier in the day to not let anything ruin my day... and it didn't. Plus the cake table was far enough away from the guest tables, that from afar it still looked good. I really enjoyed working with Lauri, so it was even more crushing for me that cake design was not to my expectations. Guess they were too high! This section is in response to what Laurie wrote.Yes I agree that I didn't want fondant and maybe I should have explained myself a little more. The buttercream icing on the cake and the fondant flowers were perfect. It was the scrolling that I had the problem with. Would have liked it to be smoother, not so jagged and shaky looking. And yes, Laurie did match what we spoke of and what she drew. The scrolling just got to me.When I spoke (through email) to Laurie about when my ceremony time was (6 pm), I naturally assumed that ment the cake would have be delivered before the ceremony started. And I can guarantee that she did not speak with my husband. He didn't even know the number to call. Lastly, I will admit, the cream cheese frosting was not in the contract. This was because the Grooms cake was decided on after the contract was written. We only spoke of the frosting on the phone. Being that Laurie was extremely busy that week, I should have made sure it was in writing. I would like to say, Laurie is a sweet person, and again, her cakes are awesome. The may thing is, and this goes for any wedding vendor, is make sure it's in writting. I would not discourage any bride from using this vendor, it just didn't turn out perfect for me. For my first anniversary when I eat my cake, I will still be happy with the awesome tasting cake we received.
Vendor response to review
Agreed that the bride/groom did come in for a tasting, second tasting and also another tasting at a bridal show, normally we offer one tasting. Time of her reception was at 7:00pm an we arrived at 6:01 and took pictures of the placed cakes at 6:11. So we were not late, but did receive a call at 4PM from the groom asking where the cake was. We do not deliver a cake made from eggs and pure butter 3 hours before a reception starts. It is not healthy nor could compromise the design and frosting. The cake design was selected from her invitation purple flowers, dot centers, and a heart shaped petal surrounding it. Then The scrolls where done in a dark brown color. Now her original picture was of a fondant cake, but this bride did not want to pay for a fondant cake so what we did was make a cake done in buttercream with fondant embellisments per her request. This has been done many times before and actually we spent alot of extra time cutting out the each individual pieces. We could have just piped it straight out of a bag and called it a day, but made it match her invitation. Our portfolio is a variety of different cakes... all buttercream, buttercream with fondant, and fondant with fondant embellisments. We thought it was a beautiful cake, unusual and not a simplistic design and an exact match for design, color, etc. We even made the grooves which was in the original picture, which matched even more. We will be putting this cake on to our website. I have her original pictures, my sketch that is in color that I drew for her, and our picture at delivery which they all match. Sorry she was not happy but we did exactly what she asked and paid for.In no place noted on the contract was there any discussion of a seperate tub of frosting. And if they wanted a separate tub then they could have paid for it and it would have been there.

The wedding cake was absolutely beautiful and exactly what we wanted, looked even more beautiful than we expected. All the cakes tasted so delicious and moist! The fondant and frosting flowers, ribbons looked and tasted great!! From the start of the first appointment up till the end, Laurie made us feel special and treated us with professionalism, responded quickly to emails and calls, provided excellent customer service, we highly recommend "A Piece of Cake" as your wedding vendor. We received alot of compliments from guests about how beautiful and how delicious the cakes were! Thanks so much!!

Not only does Laurie with A Piece of Cake do absolutely beautiful work but she was so easy to work with and super flexible! Laurie really took the time to hear my ideas, and then helped me design the cake of my dreams. The day of the wedding, I had many guests tell me that it was the best wedding cake they had ever eaten! The cake was super moist and flavorful, whereas many wedding cakes I've tasted are dry and dull! Laurie also designed a dessert and candy buffet, and although by the time I got to it, it had been mostly devoured by my guests, the pictures of it were so adorable-it didn't even look real! Her homemade marshmallows, cream puffs and other confections were a huge hit with the guests, and like I said, beautiful too!! Her prices are super affordable! I would hire her again for any event that required sweets.

Absolutely wonderful to work with. Laurie and her staff can make whatever you want come to life through cake. The best part is it tastes so good still, no matter what you've designed! We had the hexagon cake with buttercream and a chocolate ganache. It was stunning. The bottom was vanilla with a vanilla cream, the second layer was almond with cheesecake. So amazing. I was looking forward to a piece of cake when we came home from the honeymoon! I highly recommend A Piece of Cake, they are truly wonderful and do fantastic work for a very reasonable price. I couldn't speak more highly about what we received from them. The cheesecake pops we had for the grooms cake were so good too!

Laurie has done it again! Our wedding cake was amazing and exactly what we wanted. We originally thought that we would not be able to have a cake from a Piece of Cake, as our venue in Orlando provided a cake. After we went to the tasting in Orlando, we knew that we would do whatever it took to get our cake from here. We called her and she was sooo accommodating. It was cheaper to order our cake through her with delivery than it would have been to get the venue's cake to look the way we wanted it to. We have since ordered two more cakes through her for my Husband's birthday and my upcoming graduation. She is officially our cake lady!!!
GUEST

I absolutely LOVED my experience with A Piece of Cake and the owner, Laurie. My cake came out exactly how I envisioned it. The delivery of the cake was on time and professionally handled. The taste was delish! A perfect combination of lemon and raspberry and the guests wanted more. I would recommend A Piece of Cake for ANY occasion, not just weddings.

Our wedding and groom's cake were absolutely fantastic! The wedding cake looked beautiful and exactly as we had designed it together, and it tasted as good as it looked! The grooms cake was a great suprise...we were so confident with her capabilities that we just gave Laurie a few pictures and ideas and she suprised us with the actual design! We would recommend her to anybody!

The most delicious and beautiful cake ever! A last minute cake emergency brought us to A Piece of Cake, and we couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome! Thanks again!

We met Laurie Cinelli at one of the bridal shows and fell in love with her delicious samples! The wedding was held at the Rusty Pelican and she was just added to their list as an approved vendor. Laurie is fantastic. She is responsive, always answering her e-mails quickly. She met with us and designed a beautiful wedding cake, using our beach theme and adding a little extra touch for us with the LOVE sign from Center City, Phil. The cake was delicious and absolutely beautiful. It lit up the room. All our guests raved about the taste and the distinct design. You can't find a sweeter person than Laurie!!!

A Piece of Cake was to provide 300 vanilla cupcakes for our event; half with vanilla frosting and half with chocolate. All 300 were to have a "pearl" of icing on the top. They were also to provide 300 cookies to be used with a "cake form" stand I had made. The first issue was that I had to meet Laurie twice to get the cake forms as she forgot them for the first appointment we had. The second issue was that I was not provided an invoice until 2 days before the wedding when it was too late to change vendors. The cost for the cookies was excessive in my opinion; however, I was expecting great things. When both were delivered 45 minutes late, the cookies were average and the cupcakes has NO decoration on them. Laurie sent her son back out to shake sprinkles on the cupcakes which was totally not the look we wanted or ordered. We then served the cupcakes only to find the liner was impossible to remove from the cupcake. The guests had icing up to their elbows trying to get the liner from the cupcake. The cakes were good but by the time we ate one, it was too late to salvage the miserable experience. I sent an email the day after the wedding and have yet to get a response; obviously, I am not happy
Vendor response to review
We did provide the 150 cupcakes and 300 cookies (not in a package) which were included in the package with the caterer they had selected. The caterer paid us directly for the cupcakes. None of our discussions included anything to do with the wrapper they had wanted for the cupcakes. We use a standard soufflé cup of which we use for a upscale hotel each week. If the client had ever requested something different surely we would have fulfilled her request. I initially met with the client and mother of bride in March. They gave me a picture of what they wanted which was a cookie stand where all the cookies would be stacked up in rows. They wanted chocolate chip cookies and sugar cookies with coarse sugar. At this time they left without signing a contract or paying any deposit. The second brief meeting was for the MOB to stop by and get seven styrofoams of which they never paid for. I then contacted them to see what the dimensions were where the cookies would be set on so that we could ensure that the cookies would not hang over the side. On 5/26 the stands were still not complete and receive and email that MOB would be more than happy to stop back by to go over everything and then complains in this review. The email I receive from the client was the actual size of the cookie stand so I SUGGESTED she come back in so that I could measure everything. MOB comes in and I calculate the number of cookies, size, and I ADVISED her to add another tier of which she takes the additional Styrofoam, no money paid again. I never forgot any styrofoams for her, I actually had to pick them up from my supplier and had them. On 6/10 we sent an email with the pricing for every thing, never hear back until the 15th, sent an email on the 15th setting delivery between 5-6pm. Receive payment TWO DAYS before the wedding and we were to the point where we would not be able to complete the request. They had plenty of time from March until 6/15 where they could have changed vendors or searched for additional options and did not. We made the cookies to their request, the cupcakes (with the exception of the pearl center BUT we can back and put them NOT SPRINKLES EITHER, on before the reception, an oversight on our part), and arrived at 5:38pm so were WERE NOT LATE, rather within the time frame.I have never had any complaints about the liners… icing up to elbows. The cookies and cupcakes were freshly made as is all of our confections and made to order TWO DAYS prior 300 cookies and 150 cupcakes NOT 300 as stated. I then get a “cc” email that went to the caterer stating that this client wants me to be removed from their vendor list and received NO CALL from the client NOR any email of which she stated she called me right after the wedding. She states she had FOUR visits which was incorrect and said it could have been done in one visit. We are NOT be responsible if something does not fit as we made many efforts to make it right for her beyond what we should have and will have them sign off on the wrappers. She clearly states in her email that the cupcakes were delicious and changes her story numberous times about everything.

Our cake came through a Piece of Cake via the Westin Harbour Island. I gave them absolutely no direction (except picking the flavors) and it turned out to be completely gorgeous. The cake decorator actually copied the design that was on our table runners to make beautiful scrolls on the cake itself. Totally beautiful, totally delicious. I am pretty sure that the guests devoured the cake, because there was nothing left!

My wedding was on June 05, 2010 and I was very impressed w/how my wedding cake turned out!! It was not your typical wedding cake. It really stood out. And that it was I was looking for. The guest all love the details of my cake & also enjoyed the taste. From the moment I sat down w/Laurie to discuss the cake I felt really comfortable w/her. I would recommend A Piece of cake to any future bride and also use them for birthday cakes as well.

Laurie Cinelli, did a wonderful job on the wedding cake. She also did the Bridal Shower cake. It was not only beautiful, but delicious. I would recommend her to everyone.

The cake that was prepared for our wedding was wonderful. All contact with A Piece of Cake was done via email, and everything turned out perfect. They were very flexible in letting me choose different flavors for each layer (4). The design was EXACTLY as I wanted it to be. The taste of all layers was wonderful. Delivery was prompt. I will be back for birthday cakes!!
GUEST

Our cake was beautiful!! After showing Laurie a sample of my wedding invitation, she designed the cake to match it. It was perfect-very elegant. While I did not get to have a piece of the cake (except for a small bite when we cut the cake together) many guests complimented me on it (it had fresh berries in a buttercream filling).
GUEST

Wonderful experience. Beautiful display and delicious cake. Very friendly and receptive to new ideas. Her designs are amazing and did I say delicious cake??!! We had 4 layers: pineapple, strawberry, vanilla bean and a boston creme. All of the guest raved at how neat the cake was decorated as well as how moist and fresh the taste was.
GUEST

I was tremendously pleased with the quality and service of A Piece of Cake. We loved the flavors we chose, a different one for each layer. I brought a picture of my cake and they recreated it beautifully! There was not one crumb left, so I know it was delicious!

Laurie at A Piece of Cake, in Tampa, did a fabulous job with my wedding cake and favors!!! The cake was absolutely delicious and my guests RAVED over the miniature-size cake truffles she made for the wedding favors! The design of the cake was exactly what my fiance and I wanted, and the flavor of the filling and the butter cream frosting was amazing! Laurie will definitely work with you to make your wedding cake exactly what you want for your big day!

I used them for my bridal shower. The cake was amazing! I picked the design right off their website, one she hadn't done in a couple of years and the cake come out looking exactly like the one online (The hawaiian luau cake). The service couldn't have been better as I had only emailed them a week and a half before the date. The cake was sooo moist and the white chocolate icing with red velvet cake was the best cake I've ever had. We had people coming back for seconds and thirds. Can't wait to use them again.

We ordered a wedding cake from a Piece of Cake and were extremely disappointed. We should have read this website before getting our cake from this company. We had the same problem with our cake that many of these other people had. We went in for our tasting and loved the cake flavors and picked a design for our cake. We asked for a sketch and never received one. So we found a picture of a cake on the internet and emailed it as an example of what we wanted. We had to pay extra to purchase stencils in order to get the design we wanted on the side of our cake. About a month before the wedding we called to make sure everything was set up and we were told that our contract was lost. That should have been a clue that she is very unprofessional and we should have found another baker. Also we had trouble communicating with the baker she would never return phone calls or emails. Now we get to our wedding and were shocked at the appearance of our cake. First off it was compared to the leaning tower of pisa multiple times. The cake was leaning about 30 degrees. The cake had hideous patches of fondant covering where she had messed up the stenciling. Not only were these strange fondant patches on the cake many of them were not on straight. There was black ribbon around the bottom of each layer. We asked for no ribbon around the bottom of the layers, and to make it worse the ribbon was cut too short and did not meet up on several layers. After our wedding we contacted the baker and she refused to admit the cake looked anything but amazing. However we feel a first grader could have made a better looking wedding cake.
Vendor response to review
First of all if you read the reviews of which I have had 70 there is a very little percentage that were unhappy or not satisfied. As far as a sketch, we DO ALL contracts with a colored sketch except when the bride personally picks a cake that has already been done. This bride did that, she also picked a cake that was a damask pattern, not something that can be drawn. What this client wanted was a damask "stenciled" pattern on a buttercream cake!! She was unwilling to pay for fondant, which was recommended. It is not our company's policy to make sure they have a contract when no deposit and no clear communication has come from the bride/groom as to whether or not they want us to make their cake. We send contracts out same day or following day to each client who clearly communicates that they want us to do their cake. They originally met with us on 12/28/09. 1/25/2010 client emails us and asks for their sketch, still no deposit or confirmation received. 2/16/2010 I clearly communicate that we could do a similar design, but not exact due to them wanting buttercream. I could do fondant cut outs and apply them to a buttercream cake. 2/18/2010 I resend the contract because they did not get it. 2/21 they resend a picture clearly done in fondant with specific details cutouts. 2/23 I specifically state the stencils are $65 and they would have to pay for them and state that the cake would have to be done in fondant NOT buttercream. 2/26 reconfirm all the details again for a wedding that is 4/16 and have still not received a deposit. I finally receive payment and a deposit 10 days before the wedding. Now about the details of the cake...we received a call from the yacht were they were having there wedding on Thursday wanting to change the time of delivery. Friday we receive a call changing the delivery time back to the original. I spoke with the catering manager and gave them my cell # in the event they needed to reach us prior in case the docking times change. We deliver the cake, set it up and take pictures at all angles. 4/19 we receive an email from the mother of the bride. She explains that the cake was leaning, the designs or panels on the cake are tilted. I was in absolute shock at the pictures that I saw. Naturally I compared them to the pictures that we had. We delivered the cake around 4:30 and could clearly see that the cake had been moved from the original spot that we placed it in. First of all the cake was on a cocktail table in the corner of the outer windows and the back side up against a partition with glass and would which was a solid structure of the boat. In the MOB's pictures the cake now has some kind of chinese screens that are behind it and there is enough room for a person to stand behind. It is also moved to the left where there was no table on the left side and now in her pictures there are. I notice the board is buckled where the foil covered board is bent another indication that the cake has been lifted. In one of the pictures the cake is leaning to the left and the next picture it is leaning to the right. It is absolutely clear that the cake has been moved on several occasions. I never stated that the cake looked amazing when they sent me there pictures, what I stated was that someone had moved the cake, messed up the stability of it, and damaged the ribbon as well as the decor on the cake. I used plenty of dowel rods and main supporting rods, but this was a heavy cake on a moving vessel of which I have no clue after we dropped it off what exactly happened as the director just stated we never moved it. He had my cell phone number, never contacted us and said that it happened right after our driver left-NO WAY!! It was straight in our store, straight when we delivered it! The client wanted 1/2 back and I am sorry I was unwilling to do so. I even was willing to remake the cake in a fake cake and take some pictures so there memory would be a good one. I just felt sorry for them. So from now on we take a picture of the cake at our store, with a level on it, and a full 360 degree view for further evidence.I returned each email in a timely manner and spoke to the bride on several occasions, sorry for her disappointment but she did not tak our recommendations we did respond to her numerous emails even though she never booked and gave us a deposit.

Well first, Laurie is a very nice person. She is professional and personable. We had gone back and forth a bit in emails, before I finally chose that I wanted a beautiful cake with fondant. I also asked for a grooms cake, which was a little difficult. The main cake looked lovely. The only thing was it was not fondant, and it didn't taste like cannoli filling. At the tasting, they told me they had to make the filling b/c the supplier didn't get it in. She assured me that it would taste one million times better then what she had put together. I wanted the fondant b/c it gives the cake a certain look. I despise buttercream, but considered it early on for cost purposes, before sticking w/fondant. The grooms cake was supposed to be round and the top was going to be black, with the sides white. It was a square white cake with a section of the top being black w/the design, and the rest white. I don't know what happened. I was slightly disappointed.

The cakes were definitely filled with a Impastata Ricotta Cannoli Filling. The problem might be that they tasted something different the first time and just simply liked that better, but we did use a true cannoli filling. As far as the buttercream vs fondant it was a mix up on our end and we credit the client back for the difference of which she was very pleased about. Even though it was fondant it still would have had a layer of buttercream underneath. She was a very sweet bride to work with.

Our wedding cake looked and tasted great, but wasn't exactly what we had expected. Laurie stressed when we met with her that we would want our favorite flavor on the bottom layer as that would be the one that we would be eating. She reviewed the flavors with me right before our wedding, but we didn't end up with the flavor we wanted as the bottom layer of our cake. I also had a little trouble with getting a response from my emails and phone messages as it got closer to our wedding day as I was told there was a big order they were working on. This caused extra stress for me and made me feel as though we were less important since our order was smaller.

12/2/09 met with client and they booked our services explained in email that they would have to let me know by March 1, 2010 if they wanted fondant or buttercream and the final design decision as they picked a design with a quilted pattern that would require fondant and could not be done in buttercream.2/26 bride changes her design, wants to delete the ribbon and the broach and the quilted pattern of her design. She also wants to change from fondant to buttercream. Wanted spirals on two tiers and wording on the other two tiers.3/12 spoke to bride on the phone about the changes that she requested3/16 sent an updated sketch which was approved.3/18 received email that the sketch was fine and she approved3/18 bride lets me know she is mailing the final payment3/23 emails to confirm that we received payment3/23 I send a response to the payment informationI do not see where we did not respond in a timely manner by phone or email but very sorry if she felt stressed. We did have other weddings that weekend besides this bride but certainly this cake was no less important and was a four tiered cake and definitely not the smallest wedding cake for that weekend. Her flavors selected were from top to bottom...6" chocolate chip, 8" boston tea party, 10" NY cheesecake, 12" chocolate chip and this is what we delivered according to our baking logs that we keep every week for every client. It is also listed on the cake sketch that we drew originally and the contract. The cake itself was identical to the full color sketch that we provided.

From the moment we met with Laurie at A Piece of Cake, we knew that we had selected the perfect vendor. Laurie treated us as though we were her only clients and took the time to understand what type of cake we were loooking for. The cake exceeded our expectations in design and taste and our guests thoroughly enjoyed it. We will certainly remember "A Piece of Cake" for all our special events going forward.Thank you for designing and delivering a fabulous cake for our reception. JoAnn & Fred (actual reception date 3/28/10)Thank you so much for making our day special.

I met with A Piece of Cake about 2 months before my wedding. I made the appt. went over a list of flavors and brought photos with me of what I was looking for. However after a couple days after the meeting I received a call asking for all the information I had provided already ( flavors/number of cupcakes and even the original design)but I had no problem confirming exactly what I wanted. Even weeks after I paid I received emails and calls asking me what color I wanted the (cup)cakes to be even though I had already provided the info several times at that point. I could not figure out why they could not remember the info I gave them. Then for a month there was no word and the cake had been paid in full so I assumed everything was okay. Then about 4 days before the wedding I received an email asking me AGAIN to practically go over what I had already ordered. When I saw the cake at the reception, I was honestly disappointed because even with going over the details several times the cake did not look how I wanted. But I do have to say it tasted very good. After expressing my concerns with the owner, she was very understanding and we came to an agreement. I originally gave this vendor 2 stars for the cake price and taste alone. But after meeting with the owner I changed it to 3 because I felt she truly cared about my thoughts and opinions. I wouldn't say I'd stay away from this vendor but I would make sure you are on the same page with them. Ask for a printed detailed copy of your contract ( listing exactly what you want) and wouldn't hurt to request meeting with Laurie herself. ( the owner)

A Piece of Cake works by appointment only but you get what you pay for and they was really worth making the appointment. They have to be one of the best cake makers in the Tampa region. You get nice and fancy cakes and they all are really eye catching. Our wedding cake had multiple layers and it was full of lots of detail. It made everyone's mouth water and it sure tasted great.

They provided an wedding cake that lives in our memories and I doubt we will forget it. It tasted great and you know what they put lots of work into it. They gave us an consultation that was worth the visit. They are pro's at making wedding cakes. We purchased a huge cake from them and the put little details on it that you would of figured they could not do but they did it. Let me tell you we were glad we purchased a nice size cake as we wanted everyone to have second's and everyone was able to and almost everyone ate more then one helping as they really enjoyed the cake.
I highly recommend Laurie with a Piece of Cake. She not only has the best cake, but she is a pleasure to work with.
