Reviews for A Step Above - Custom Wedding Stages

Vendor recommendation from The Madison Suite & Wedding Lounge List

A Step Above is a a new concept for weddings! Kari and Jamal designed and built a custom stage to stand on when the got married outdoors in Oregon. Pictures were taken on the stage, the guests loved it and they decided that a new business was born.

Today you can have your custom monogram created, then it is made into an insert for an existing stage and after the ceremony you take it with you. They can make this monogram insert into a table top, a wall hanging or other options. You will always have the spot where you got married, how cool is...

Additional Advice
How does our stage get built?

A Step Above will guide you through a three part process to complete your stage.
1.) Free Consultation: It all begins with a free consultation in which we discuss design options, materials, budget, etc. Then we determine a rough estimate to give you a sense of what your stage is likely to cost. 2.) Detailed Design: To initiate the detailed design process, we collect a small deposit to cover our time in creating design options including rendered images of each option, as well as a detailed quote. The deposit counts toward the total cost of your order. 3.) Build: Once you have selected the design that best suits you and your wedding, we require a deposit of half the quoted price. Then the build begins! Your stage will be ready approximately one week prior to your event at which time we require the final payment (this timeline would only change if we have to ship your stage earlier than one week prior to your event as the final payment would be due prior to shipping). You are welcome to pick up your stage any time after your final payment has been received. Delivery, set-up and break down services are available in the greater Portland, OR area.
How do we decorate our stage for the ceremony?

The options here are limited only by your imagination. For example, we build custom tables, stands, display boxes, etc. and are happy to work with your other wedding vendors to create a solution that achieves your dream look for your wedding. If you can imagine it, we will find a way to bring it to life.

What do we do with our wedding stage after the ceremony?

That really depends on you as a couple. There are many options including; making it a centerpiece in your garden, converting it into a dining table around which you can grow your family, using it as a decorative wall hanging, converting it into a headboard for your master bedroom, or whatever else you can imagine. Whatever you choose we can accommodate it in the initial design.

How do we get our stage to the wedding and home afterward?

In the Salem and Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA areas we offer transportation and set-up services both to the event site and from the event site to your home. You are also welcome to pick up your stage directly from our studio. For anyone outside of this area, please note that we consider weight and ease of handling in all our designs to make transportation as easy on you as possible. If this is a particular concern for you, we can address it in the design process when we select the kinds of materials we will use as well as the size of your stage.

Is shipping available outside the greater Portland, OR area?

Yes, there are several shipping options that make transportation all along the West Coast possible. Beyond the West Coast shipping rates will vary. We are happy to work with any couple to determine whether or not shipping is a viable option to your area.

Can a wedding stage be used as an heirloom piece?

Absolutely. As every stage is completely custom we can accommodate any number of designs (such as a family crest or last name initial) to commemorate several weddings within your family for years to come.

Can stages be built for occasions other than weddings?

Of course! We are happy to accommodate a stage for any occasion. Let your imagination run wild!

How do we maintain our stage?

Maintenance of your stage will depend in part on how you intend to use it after your ceremony. For example, if you live in the Northwest and are intending to keep your stage in an outdoor garden, maintenance will be approached differently than if you are converting your stage into a dining table. We are happy to provide a list of instructions for your own use or to provide maintenance services when the time comes.
