I ordered my dress from A Timeless Occasion back in October 2008. It arrived in March 2009 as they promised!
Helen (the owner) was extremely helpful. She was very patient and let me try on as many dresses as I wanted without making me feel rushed. She offered good input on what would look good and what wouldn't on my small petite frame. She wasn't pushy and definitely acted more like a friend than a sales lady when it came to shopping for a dress.
The best part about ATO is that they didn't order one size too big (as some bridal shops do). My dress fit perfectly when I tried it on. I didn't need any alterations at all. In fact, my alteration lady told me I should call ATO to specially thank them for such a great job!
I am not sure if they still sell bridal/bridesmaid dress since moving to their location, BUT if they do, definitely check them out!
Helen did an absolutely wonderful job on our wedding! She was our day-of-coordinator (highly recommended by our venue) and by far one of the best decisions we made for the day! From the very beginning, she was so sweet, detail-oriented and organized! She did a wonderful job keeping in touch with us and making sure everything was on track! Our meetings before the big day truly put all our worries to rest! She created a wonderful itinerary and thought of everything! She really went above and beyond! And the day of...she was fabulous!!! It was the most perfect day and we credit so much of that to her! Our bridal party, vendors and guests all commented on her stellar work! Some details we really appreciated were her helping us with our fresh cookie favors (picking them up the night before and setting them up), picking up snacks for the bridal party, pressing my dress, remembering all the little details, working with all our vendors, ALWAYS making sure the day was going perfect for us, and her upbeat, energetic, happy attitude! We truly did not have to worry about a thing the day of the wedding! THANK YOU Helen and your team for all your hard work! :)
I have mixed feelings about Timeless Occasion. When we first found them, we LOVED them. They were so reasonable, down to earth, and easy to work with.
I bought my dress from their shop, and at the time I placed the order we had two possible wedding dates depending on venue availability. Helen suggested putting down the earlier date just to make sure the dress will get here in time, so I did. We ended up using the later date, but the dress came early anyway... but unfortunately we got charged a $150 rush delivery fee which we were never told about or approved (or needed). But Helen said she felt bad and offered to cover half of it, so we let it go and paid it.
Then came the alterations. Although I appreciated their effort and how they did listen and tried to get it right... I have to admit that I wasn't very satisfied with their work. I had to come in for 6 fittings total.. mostly because not much would be changed between each visit. And although the dress turned out okay, in retrospect I would have either done the alterations somewhere else or I would have picked a different dress. To add insult to injury, although Helen initially said that they usually don't charge much for alterations, sometimes not at all, and my dress was not difficult to alter... she ended up charging us $80 for it. I think the fact that we felt like we overpaid made the whole alteration process even more dissatisfactory.
Furthermore, Helen quoted us the best price we found on chair covers, and she said she would give us that price although we had less than the usual number of guests. However, Helen was getting married on our date, so we were referred to her associate Samantha who was covering for her, but Samantha would not honor that quote. It wasn't really Helen's fault but we felt a little let down.
So again, I have mixed feelings. We really enjoyed our interactions with them and really liked Helen and Pat as people, but for some reason walked away not quite as satisfied as we could have been. I can see how Helen would make a great coordinator though, and would probably still recommend them to others.
We cannot thank Helen enough for what a terrific job her and her team did coordinating the countless details of our wedding day yesterday. I had to hurry and write before I leave on my honeymoon on Tuesday!!! As two type-A personalities, it was difficult for us to select someone that we both trusted to oversee our big day. While we read many great reviews of Helen's work, we knew after our first meeting, she was the one and she did not disappoint.
Helen created a very detailed five page timeline of our wedding day. The day flowed so well as a result and provided us the peace of mind to know that nothing would be missed.
As a few minor issues arose over the course of the day, we appreciated not having to deal with it. What may have otherwise been stressful if left for us, Helen and her team handled everything with calm and ease. While we know it was a long day for Helen, she always had a smile on her face and plenty of energy.
Helen from A Timeless Occasion was my DOC for my wedding in June. My FI now husband gawked and resisted the idea of a DOC but I managed to convince him it was worth it (meaning my sanity). After the wedding he said it was the best money he spent. No stress for us and our families and friends were able to have fun and enjoy themselves. This was very important to us. Having Helen there was priceless. They helped me set up all of my DIY things, my wish table, my pictures and they packed up our car with gifts. My family and I did not need to lift a finger! It was so nice to be oblivious about the things that went wrong. I'm sure that things did - but having Helen there meant I could be blissfully ignorant and believe until this day my wedding went off without a hitch!
Wow...today must be a special raving day for these guys! Who wouldn't...
Helen from A Timeless Occasion is an amazing coordinator, and I can't stop raving about her! She is organized, detail orientated, passionate, experienced, tactful, sweet, energetic, and fun. Everything I had hoped to find in a wedding coordinator. She went so above and beyond any expectations and made my wedding day perfect. She met with me several times, both at her office and at my venue. I could email her at any time about anything, whether it was for other vendor recommendations or questions about my decor. On the day of, she and her assistant did a great job of coordinating my vendors, rounding up my family, and setting up my many details.
Before I met her, I was still considering if I could afford hiring a coordinator. At our first meeting, I instantly knew that I couldn't afford not to hire her. As it turns out, she is priced low for what she actually does. She has a background in corporate and non-profit event planning. She's coordinated a number of fabulous weddings, including her own.
I am so lucky that I found them when I did. My day could have been a headache without her. Because of her, it was anything but. I would highly recommend her.
My husband and I got married on 2/15/2009, so this review has been a long time in coming. We honestly cannot thank Helen and Pat of A Timeless Occasion enough!
Our referral: A friend had a great experience with them. She'd ordered a dress that had to be remade in order to fit properly, and Pat did so flawlessly. She looked stunning on her day.
Background: I went to A Timeless Occasion after going to stores like Mary Linn's in Pasadena for a wedding dress. I was ready to plunk down $2K for a simple dress when, on a lark, I decided to try A Timeless Occasion. At the end, I was able to find my dream dress at Timeless Occasion for a mere $500!!!
We got our tuxes through them as well. Pat was absolutely accommodating in meeting with 8 groomsmen, 1 groom, and 1 father-in-law, and ALL their different schedules, for the fittings. Throughout the process, we appreciated that Pat gave us options to make any last-minute changes, which would mean extra work/hassle for him, of course.
About three months before the big day, I realized that there was no way I could pull off the wedding by myself, so I asked Helen to be my "day-of coordinator" (DOC). For a rock-bottom price, Helen took over and created the day that exceeded my expectations.
Helen went with me to the church and the reception sites, spoke to all my vendors (basically keeping them on task), came up with this amazing wedding schedule/itinerary for the bridal party and vendors to follow (now THAT is my kind of DOC), provided solutions to my every concern (like creating a big poster board for table assignments instead of the usual, and problematic, table card system).
When my husband and I would merely mention a need or concern, Helen and Pat were quick to volunteer their help, even though it meant going above and beyond their duties. When I needed a videographer, Helen had a whole list of great references (we ended up with the coolest wedding video). She even anticipated our needs: You need a DJ? No problem. A screen for the wedding video? Ask the DJ. Lighting problems? We'll take care of it. Florist issues? We'll talk to him. No problem was unsolvable with her. She was AMAZING!!!
Now, here's an even more telling example of Helen and Pat's quality of service and the kind of great people they are: We needed to transport loads of alcohol, candy, vases, and decorations to the wedding and reception sites, but didn't have a way to do so. Helen and Pat AGAIN volunteered their services!! They actually picked up and loaded ALL those supplies in their own vehicles, and delivered them to the different sites. THEN they set up everything for us...at both sites!!
By this time, my husband and I were about to cry and thank the Lord for Helen and Pat. Actually, I did. My husband did the same, too, because I was no longer a bridal-maniac.
On the big day, Helen and Pat again took complete charge. Helen delivered my newly pressed dress and veil (which were absolutely beautiful, thanks to Pat's skills) to my hotel room early in the morning.
Helen and Pat then made sure that everything was set up at the wedding and reception sites. She transported a huge flower arrangement from the wedding to the reception. At the reception site, she and Pat set up the tables and the decor exactly as I wanted it. They even took care of a floral arrangement and table card snafu that I didn't find out about until after the wedding day. When my husband and I entered the reception area, we were floored by how lovely they'd made the place look. They created our candy table, which was an amazing hit, and even set up special pinpoint lighting to highlight it!!! By the way, Pat painstakingly assembled these special paper flowers that I'd wanted (my own attempts to make them were a joke), which looked spectacular on the candy bar table.
At the end of a perfect evening, Pat and Helen stayed behind to pack up everything -- all the candy, the vases, flower arrangements, photo frames, decorations, left over cake and alcohol -- and graciously dropped off everything to our home the next day.
To top it all off...guess who volunteered to take us to the airport for our honeymoon trip?!? uh...who does that?! Can we say that Pat and Helen are saints?? By now, we were so attached to them, we said "yes".
The best part was seeing how well Pat got along with my hubby, who was definitely "wedding-impaired". Pat's jovial and humorous nature was exactly what my husband needed to get him through the wedding planning.
To this day, my husband and I attribute the success of our wedding to Helen and Pat. Our wedding day was the HAPPIEST day of my life. Our guests still tell us our wedding was the best they'd ever attended! THANK YOU, HELEN AND PAT!!!!
Signed-up for day of coordination - although Timeless Occasion offers many other services. Helen, the owner of the business, came highly recommended by my venue and she's great. Very detail oriented and really nice, I feel confident that she will have things under control on my wedding day. Thus far, I think her itinerary is very good and she's been helpful thinking through the details. If I had one constructive piece of feedback - I would say she needs to better set expectations on when she'll get back to you. She's so busy it takes her awhile to get back to you with revised itineraries etc.
Post wedding update - Helen did an excellent job day of my wedding and the days leading up to the wedding. 2 days prior, I had to cut an entire table (due to no shows from parent's friends), she totally dealt with negotiating with the site to re-apply the funds to other things (e.g., corkage)and modified the placecards. On the day itself, she had everything runing smoothly from the string quartet to the caterers to the photographer. All the wendors were perfectly organized and neither I nor my husband had to worry about a thing. It was fantastic! My husband and I agree that this was the best money spent.
I just love this place!!! They definitely went over and above what they promised to do for me and my girls. I just got married a few weeks ago and it was during the same time the owners were getting married, but they put me ahead of them. Always letting me know now to worry about anything... They did all my decor and chair covers on top of everything else. All my guests were so amazed how beautiful it came out.

Helen is awesome!!!! I was so lucky to have booked her for my June wedding. I really cant say enough about her. We really clicked from the get-go, and I just feel that throughout the entire planning process, she really understood our needs. She has tons of creative ideas, open to helping out with anything, and always responded to my phone calls, and emails promptly.
Since our wedding was at a high end hotel, I knew a good coordinator was necessary. Helen was just the best! She provided a very detailed timeline, contacted all of my vendors, (something I didn’t have or think of) and kept me on track with checklists etc. On the day of the wedding, she set up everything perfectly, and even with a ton of traffic, and screwy vendors, she was able to calm my nerves, wrangle up the bridal party, and kept everything moving along nicely! I never worried about a thing.
Ultimately, I feel that she is super professional, really great to work with, and she can handle any wedding, whether the guest count is 100 or 400! Any bride would be lucky to have her....I know I was!
i do not even know where to begin with a timeless occasion. i just had my wedding and they made my experience unforgettable. i decided to hire a doc 8 weeks out from my wedding, the stress of family and work was definitely getting to me. as soon as i reached out to them, it took them no time to set up an appointment to just get to know one another. eventhough it was a very short time and i had to hand over all the work i had done, i definitely felt an ease of mind with everything. on top of them being my doc, they also did my chair covers. they offered me these beautiful satin covers that i have been yearning for and couldn't afford because everywhere i went, they asked for over $5 not including deliver and set up. their company did it for only $3... HOW CAN YOU BEAT THAT!!! they made my day a dream come true... i can not thank you enough. kudos to you guys and keep up the amazing work!!!
Helen is awesome! My son's wedding was on July 24th, 2009 and although I was the mother of the groom I worked with the bride's family in making sure the room was beautiful.
Knowing that Helen was there on the big day making sure everything went as planned was a lifesaver. She attended to every detail including having her husband help in lighting the 300 or so candles I had insisted on. She went way above and beyond the call of duty and in doing so we all agreed that it was a spectacular wedding from beginning to end. We could not have done it without her and she was a joy to work with. I would highly recommend Helen and A Timeless Occasion.
Deserves a 25 star rating! I just want to take the time to thank some key players who contributed to my spectacular wedding. A Timeless Occasion, is definitely one of those players. I live in New York and got married on the other side of the country. It turned out to be a pretty daunting ordeal, planning my wedding from so far away. They welcomed us with open arms and once we arrived, the week of our wedding, we were able to relax and actually feel like we were on vacation while on the brink of a life changing experience. I know how important booking the right DOC is. Our experience could have very easily been a stress filled nightmare, scrambling to get everything in place at the last minute. I am so grateful I found someone else I trusted took care of all those details while I got my nails done and went to the spa with my girls. I am still on cloud 9! Thanks for everything! I will definitely give you a call the next time I'm in town!
Helen is the reason I had the best wedding ever! She was only hired as a Day Of wedding coordinator, but she went way above and beyond! She helped us from about 6 months out to the absolute last minute at the wedding reception. We had to cancel our DJ 2 days before the wedding. Helen connected us with a new DJ, made our appointments, came to the meeting with the new DJ, and saved the day! My mother, mother-in-law, and myself were very involved with planning the wedding and Helen work perfectly with each of us, even when we got nervous close to the wedding! My brother's tux needed to be altered the night before the wedding around 9 p.m.(he only realized then that his arms are different lengths!), Helen took his tux, fixed the arms, and returned the jacket before our rehersal dinner was over! I'm telling you, Helen is the best ever! Even if you are working on a small budget (which I was) Helen is the perfect choice. She gave us a perfect wedding and I am eternally grateful! We love you Helen!
Our daughter was married this weekend. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect experience. The comments from our friends were that this was the best wedding ever! I have to give credit where it is due and that means our wedding planner.Helen Wu. Helen was recommended by our venue. She was our "day of" planner.From our first meeting I realized we were going to be blessed. Helen is so warm, energetic, and just plain wonderful. She immediately made me feel relaxed. We had so many questions and Helen is a fount of knowledge. She is so engaging, and never made me feel like what I was asking was an imposition. Our bride and groom had already made many of the plans and decisions. Helen reviewed what had already been done and made some great suggestions, talked to some vendors, negotiated better rates, and got us out of some bad decisions. We ended up changing the limos, and DJ near the wedding date and Helen made sure that we got the best people for the job. She very carefully steered us on the path we needed to be on. She is never pushy, and is very discreet with the knowledge she has. I also appreciated her careful consideration of our budget. Her advice was always within our guidelines. We had a problem the day before the wedding, one of the groomsmens tuxes didn't fit in the arms,it was 10:00PM and we were in a mess. Helen said "leave it to me," she very calmly took it home, fixed the length, and brought it to the rehearsal dinner! How many planners would go the extra mile like that to take the pressure off the mother of the bride so she could enjoy every minute of the dinner?? That is just one small example of how Helen thinks and works. She was a total blessing to us all!! She also gave us the best timeline for the day, called all the vendors, took care of handing out the gratuities, put all of our personal decorations and gifts in my car, set up the country club to look like a fairy tale, and met us at the door of the reception with one of the signature cocktails!! Who could ask for more? Helen Wu is a gem!!!
They are amazing!!! There is no words to describe how easy it was to work with them. Despite them moving and all the emails back and forth, I was not worried at all. They promised that they would be there at a certain time to make my wedding look beautiful and they did. They chairs looked so gorgeous... it just lit up the room. Thank you again for everything...you guys truly are a gem!
Helen first and foremost is the nicest and most accommodating vendor that I had the pleasure of working with during the crazy wedding planning process. She was always attentive to any questions I had, and made sure that she not only showed me what i asked for, but also offered me options for different designs, fonts, etc so that i had choices. The product speaks for itself when you see it in person.. she absolutely exceeded ALL expectations that I had for paper products for my wedding. She knew I was getting really stressed out and offered to design all my menus and table numbers from my motif, designed it, cut it, print it. I offered to pay her for her service; she just declined and said, “that’s what I’m here for”. She is truly great at what she does.. and you can tell she loves doing it!!!
