My reception at the Abbington was really beautiful... Based upon the feedback I was getting throughout the evening, people seemed to really enjoy themselves, the food, and the venue.

Tara, the catering manager, was an absolute pleasure to deal with... Her follow-up to each and every question or concern was amazing. Not only did she never leave me "hanging," she actually made me feel like I was the only bride she was dealing with!

Our wedding reception was held at the Abbington on 3/2/13. Throughout the whole planning process, staff was available to assist me through phone calls and emails with anything I needed and were prompt with their responses. When we got to the reception, I was greeted by the staff, who explained and helped with everything throughout the night with whatever was needed. The room looked absolutely beautiful!! From the chandeliers to the lighting to the way the tables were set, it was simply stunning! The food was so good and I got so many compliments from guests about how great the food and service was and how stunning the room looked! Everything ran smoothly and the night was perfect! It was more than I could have hoped for! Thanks again to everyone at the Abbington, especially Tara and Dian, for making our day so special!!

We were extremely pleased with the Abbington. The food was excellent! They are also very willing to work with you on creating the perfect look and ambiance for the wedding. Our wedding coordinator - Tara - was very knowledgeable, collaborative and very helpful and easy to work with.

Our daughter's wedding was 3 days ago, and I requested to write a review regarding the exceptional service, food, decor, and professionalism provided by Tara and the staff at the Abbington. From the first impression to the midnight farewell, we could not have been more pleased with the Abbington. Tara is tremendous to work with, great suggestions, and extremely patient and pleasant. Our banquet captain was Paula and she was prompt, professional and extremely helpful the night of the event. Maria was the head server for the parents table and made us feel special and was extremely attentive. The food was fabulous--the chef even came out and gave a recipe to one of our guests! When I walked through the doors of the Abbington I knew this was the perfect wedding venue for my special day! I dealt with Ms. Kathy but vented to Ms. Tara about the wedding hang ups! They treated me like family not because they were just doing their job they really cared! The place was perfect, elegant, just amazing! Everyone keeps talking about how special and beautiful it was!! Thank you so much for the best day of my life! I also had Ms. Paula as my coordinator she was the best and Enzo was one of the bartenders they were amazing!!! Remember these names and before you make a choice Abbington is the perfect place to have your wedding or any type of function. Our wedding reception was held at the Abbington on 10/20/12. When we saw our room, my husband and I were stunned at how beautiful and perfect everything was. Furthermore, our guests raved that it was one of the best receptions they've ever been to. Everyone said that not only was the food the best food they've ever had at a wedding, but it was also the most food they've ever gotten at a wedding! Everything was perfect! I was able to get in touch with someone whenever I needed to and our captain the night of made sure that everything ran perfectly and smoothly. Thanks again to everyone at the Abbington for making our wedding reception so perfect!!

On the first tour, what stood out to me was the décor. The chandeliers are BEAUTIFUL and the rest of the décor is very classy, nicely painted walls with columns and decor, and a classic black and gold carpet. I found that a lot of the other banquet halls in the area had very cheesy decorations, and just really looked outdated, while the Abbington had a very classic feel. The other thing that I really liked about the room (we used the South Ballroom) was the large dance floor, as well as the private bridal suite with our private bathroom.
The cost I thought was reasonable, pretty comparable to other banquet halls in the area. Tara, our wedding manager, is AMAZING and I can’t say enough good things about her-you can tell she really loves her job and wants to make sure you are happy with every detail of the event. I definitely had a ton of questions leading up to the big day and Tara was so helpful in answering all of the them, quickly and efficiently. She also always had suggestions of her own and would present me some ideas I hadn’t thought of, which I thought was helpful and showed she really cared.
The day of our wedding was great and everything was amazing. Tara and the Abbington staff did a great job putting out all of our favors, place cards, other décor and setting up the room, it looked exactly like the vision I had and they did it all!! The food was great, I definitely recommend crab cake apps, lobster bisque soup, and the filet and orange roughy were great! We also got the ultimate sweets table as well as candy display, and the desserts were delicious and the presentation was very impressive. We had so many compliments from our guests about how everything tasted great and what a beautiful space it was, we even got quite a few “it was the best wedding I’ve ever been to.” I am so glad that we chose the Abbington as our wedding reception venue, they are true experts at what they do, and they really helped created the perfect wedding for us!

I am so beyond impressed with the Abbington, their service went above and beyond my expectations and blew not only myself and my husband, but all of our guests out of the water!!! Our hall was gorgeous, the food was outstanding, I am so so happy!

My daughter's wedding was at Abbington Distinctive Banquets. After a week of looking for venues last year, we decided to go with the Abbington as soon as we walked in. The site is absolutely beautiful, the package's value was outstanding, and the food was outstanding. Tara (banquet manager) was so helpful, flexible, and reassuring that she made planning everything easy for my daughter and me. They were great!

I had the absolutely best wedding and I have the Abbington to thank!!!! I was a very undecisive bride and literally looked at about 30 different venues around chicagoland.... everywhere I went it may have been pretty, or affordable, or accomodating- but until I went to Abbington and met Bob - I finally found all 3!!! The staff make you feel like you are a movie star and that you are the only one they are there to cater for. I was extremely impressed on my wedding day by the quality of listening, responsiveness, understanding and just wait till you try the food!!!! yummmmm my captain was Paulette and I absolutely adore her- not only did I have a captain- Tara the manager asked me, my husband, & families several times throughout the night if there was anything she could do or if we needed anything. I've been to expensive venues in Chicago that didn't even have this quality of service. I could rave on and on about how perfect they make it for you & how much you get for the money!!! They set up everything for you, EXACTLY how you want it. If you are a bride like me who wanted the most for her money- definently check them out. Bob is no longer with Abbington- and he was FANTASTIC!!! but Tara still is and seriously- she is the BEST. It was really nice to have people who truly care (ALL OF THEM - managers, captains and wait staff) about my day as much as I did.

my wedding was 9/8/12 and i had Kathy as my reception coordinator. the reception looks amazing with the flowers from Shamrock Gardens. Kathy keep everything organize and always remind me to relax and everything will be ok. and that helps a lot. so i will definitely recommend this reception.

The Abbington was great. The banquet has three beautiful halls and two affordable packages. I choose the one that included the flowers, cake and open premium bar. The hall was the south-ballroom, i had 180 guest and there was plenty of space. The whole process was simple thanks to Tara, she was very helpful and was more than happy to answer all of our questions. The night of the event went flawlessly. Everything came together and it looked great. The food was delicious!

As the mother of the bride, I am happy to say that everything about the Abbington was wonderful. From our first tour of the facility to the final moments of the reception, the service and professionalism of the staff was outstanding. The venue is beautiful, the food terrific and everyone had a wonderful time. The service from all of the wait staff was exceptional. We have had so many compliments from friends and family! I especially appreciated how little we needed to do as everything was taken care of. We were able to enjoy every minute of the reception without having to worry about any of the details. If you're looking for a reception venue, your search is over! I don't think it gets better than the Abbington, which gave us a completely flawless reception experience.
Their facilities are gorgeous. From the crystal chandeliers to their perfect execution of the room decor, the Abbington totally wowed our guests. The space is really impressive, but also manages to feel welcoming and comfortable. The way the tables were laid out made me feel close to my 125 guests. It somehow had the feel of both an elegant ballroom and a cozy, comfortable dinner space all in one.
Also, the service is outstanding. I don't think guests usually comment on service at a wedding--it's usually so-so and average. But our guests could not stop raving about the excellent service! We had a five course meal, and everyone was served at the same time, the food was hot and cooked to perfection (it's not an easy feat to cook filet mignon perfectly for almost 100 people), and everyone was so professional, helpful, and nice. The service was especially great for me, the bride--we had an attendant at our table all night, and he brought me anything I needed. The bartender was great, too, making me a special drink and preparing another one for me that was waiting when I took a break from the dance floor. You can tell these people genuinely love to provide great service, and they do it with class and kindness. Plus, the food is magnificent. There is such a range of choices, and each of them are spiced and sauced perfectly. Our guests said they'd never had a more impressive meal at a wedding, and my friends are still salivating over all the goodies they had that night. I think the biggest plus of the Abbington, though, is its value. The experience seems five times more expensive than it actually is. Our friends thought we spent so much more on our reception than we did. If you want a 5-star experience without breaking the bank, I don't think you can do any better than the Abbington.

I had the pleasure of working with Tara at Abbington and she was amazing. She was responsive and helpful and full of ideas! She made wedding planning a lot less stressful. The wedding was absolutely perfect and the venue was gorgeous and the food was delicious, It was the wedding of my dreams!!

I highly recommend the Abbington for everyone for any event! They were wonderful, and accommodated everything I asked for. My wedding was beautiful and all I could ask for! If I had to go back in time and do it all over again, I would choose the Abbington time and time again. Thank you for making our night so wonderful!

We had our wedding reception at the Abbington and it was awesome. From the very beginning Kathy made us feel very welcome-like a member of her family. The whole planning process was very simple and she answered all our questions and explained everything. On the actually day when I walked into our room it was so beautiful just like I visioned it would look like. It was a wonderful night and the food was so good. From dinner to the cake to the desserts and the chocolate fountain and to the late night snacks. Everything ran so smooth and the wait staff was amazing. I highly recommd the Abbington to any future brides and grooms.

The Abbington was the perfect venue for our recent wedding. We were in the North Ballroom which was beautiful with the light and sunset coming through the windows. Our coordinator, Tara, was extremely helpful from day 1 and promptly answered all inquiries. We received numerous compliments on the staff the day of the event who were very accomodating to all our guests. The food quality is great and you receive several courses, all of which our guests loved. We would highly recommend the Abbington to any couple looking for a beautiful venue with great service and food selection.

I was exceptionally pleased with Abbington Banquets, and would recommend them to anyone looking for a spectacular place to host a reception. Throughout the entire planning process, Tara Kubicki was always quick to respond to my many questions. Prices here are very reasonable for a beautiful banquet hall with chandeliers and white glove service. Everyone at the wedding raved about how good the food was. And when I entered the room, it looked just like how I had always imagined. Our banquet manager for the night of the wedding, Diane (or Diana?) was wonderful. She helped calm my mom down when she started freaking out (members of the bridal party were late, pushing back our "go time"). She got me whatever I needed, and even helped us bring everything out to the car at the end of the night. She was really amazing. In short, I feel like we got a great deal on a beautiful banquet hall, complete with great food, open bar, and even a sweets table. Everyone I worked with was pleasant and helpful. I can't recommend the Abbington more!

We got married this past june and I am only now getting around to reviewing my vendors. I must say we had a wonderful reception at Abbington and I really can't say enough good things about them. They were a bit pricey but ultimately we were very please with their services.

The Abbington was such a fantastic wedding reception venue. The service was outstanding. The senior catering manager was onsite the night of our reception making sure everything we needed was attended to. We also had another senior staff member dedicated to our reception to make sure everything we needed was available. The staff was professional and pleasant and the food was hot, fresh and tasty. The room was beautiful and elegant, and best of all, everything was reasonably priced! I would recommend The Abbington to everyone!

All Chicagoland brides, look no further! Abbington Distinctive Banquets provided us with the excellent service, high quality food, and were responsive to all of our needs. The North ballroom space was perfect for our reception. It has windows, a stage, a staircase leading to the bridal suite, and neutral decor. Our guests were very pleased and we've received many complements.
Overall, we would highly recommend Abbington to any and everyone in need of a perfect wedding venue.

The Abbington is a very beautiful place. You can tell that from walking in. During a wedding reception, it springs to life even more! The staff was very well organized. The way they swarmed our guests with service reminded me of a school of fish, moving together with an even spread and perfect form. When my bride, the bridal party, and I arrived at the Abbington, we were greeted by the person whom we had been working with as well as a personal attendant for the evening who's sole purpose was to ensure that we had everything that we needed. We felt like royalty the whole night. And the food... the food was out of this world! We had so many compliments about the food being so delicious: "Best wedding food I've ever had," "Everything was so good!" etc. I would say that the biggest pet peeve of my bride and I at other weddings is that the line for the bar is too long; that's not the case at the Abbington. The 2 bartenders were very professional and courteous to all of our guests. You can tell that the Abbington has been doing this for a while, because everything was perfect, just perfect! Can't say enough good things.

This was the DREAM place to have our reception. The fact that the flowers, cake, and food was included made planning our wedding a breeze. Mike and Tara were so great to work with, and every time I called or emailed them I had a VERY prompt response and my mind was put at ease. We even had friends of our book their reception at The Abbington the night of our reception because of how incredible the place is. I have already recommended this place to everyone I know who is engaged, or soon to become engaged and I can't say enough wonderful things about it. My husband, our parents and I really felt the planning process was made much easier by the all inclusive aspect of the Abbington Packages!
Also- We had so many compliments about the food, and the bar that we could write a book based on them! The service was amazing. Dian was phenomenal and the rest of the wait staff was just as attentive and professional!

I actually did not have my wedding at the Abbington but attended their New Years Eve party. It was a great party and always lots of fun. The food is great and always plentiful. I do have 2 complaints this year though. The girl that checked us in was very rude. Did not seem to want to be there. No eye contact and very short with us. Did not catch her name but she was youngish and blonde. My other complaint is that the tables after dinner were a mess!!!! Glasses every where. My husband and I went to the bar to get a drink and the bartender had to run around looking for a glass to put it in! Really?! You host a party for however many people were there and you don't have enough glassware to make it through the evening?

Good job overall; we were pleased with the experience.

The Abbington was perfect! They were always there for us to answer any questions we had leading up to the wedding day! The wedding day itself was incredible! Kathy made me feel so special and all of the guests raved about how well organized the service was!!

I highly recommend using Abbington Distinctive Banquets as your banquet hall. In comparison to other reception sites around the area, The Abbington has the best prices around. They are the most economical vendor and their pricing includes cake and centerpiece arrangements. I really appreciated that they provided us with the florist vendor and cake vendor because that was less research and hassel to deal with during the planning process. Another benefit was that since we were engaged in March 2011 and had our reception in October 2011, we received a 10% discount off of the total price because we booked before the end of 2011.

All of our guests were blown away with the food and ambiance of our wedding reception. The food was absolutely delicious! We had the option of choice between filet migion, chicken piccata and pasta primavera. It was all delicious! We also had food allergies that we had to be careful with and the chefs and wait staff were EXTREMELY accommodating and conscious of our guests. The wait staff was very professional and efficient and got food out to our guests in an orderly fashion. Our attendant for the night was Dian and she was FANTASTIC! She paid great attention to my husband and I and made sure that we were taken care of. The bar staff was great and my guests seemed to really enjoy their experience with them!

We worked with Tara and she was great. She helped us create a vision of what we wanted our reception to look like and we really appreciated her help. She was frank with us and gave us her honest opinion which is a rare quality in people these days.

The only area of discontent that I had throughout our entire process was that for some reason our names continued to appear up wrong on our contracts. I corrected them numerous times, but we still received paperwork with our names wrong. I thought that was unprofessional and it made us feel like we weren't being taken seriously. After paying a lot of money to the Abbington, we were frustrated by that small detail.

Overall, our experience was awesome and we would love to experience the whole day all over again! Thanks Tara and staff!

Everyone seems to steer away from banquet halls because they have horrible service and serve bland food...this is definitely not the case. First glance of Abbington may not be the greatest since it's next to a wal-mart, but as soon as you walk inside you're transported to a very elegand place. My husband and i chose the prestegious package since it seemed to have a few more perks to it and it was worth everything! I was a little weary at first but after seeing it all come together in the end it was priceless. When everyone arrived to the reception hall i forced myself to stay out of the room until they announced us and i was so glad i did! They even had a personal bridal suite for the bridesmaids and myself to relax with some champagne and hourd'voures before it started. The food was absolutely amazing! 5 courses is definitely a lot but it gives everyone enough energy to party through the entire evening! We even bought an extra late night buffet deal just in case people were hungry, which they loved! We were getting compliments left and right about how beautiful the place was and how wonderful of a job everyone has done and that it was one of the best weddings they have ever been to. We had the wonderful Mike Fabbri help us with everything... down to the last little details. Thank you so much for dealing with me!! :) and to anyone who is unsure about banquet halls, check out the Abbington before you say 'no' completely.

All I can say is that Tara and Kathy and the whole abbington staff and chefs went beyond amazing in all of there services. The whole entire room and decorations and omg the food, words can not explain how wonderful everything was. Everyone was amazed at the dinner and the room, even my guests who had dietary needs were impressed with the quality of the food. The service was impecable and 5 star all the way. Tara our coordinator was helpful and patient with all of our needs. Our guests and family and myself and my new husband were waited on hand and foot. The abbington offers everything for your perfect day and they go out of there way to make sure your day is a dream come true. I highly recommend them for any occasion, they know how to put it all together.

My husband and I were very pleased with Abbington. My husband's brother and sister-in-law also had their ceremony and reception at Abbington. Both of the weddings went so smoothly thanks to Tara and all of her staff. I even forgot some of my mom's glassware that we used to keep the bouquets in. Tara let me go through all of their glassware to find the ones we left behind. Their food is excellent!! The waitstaff was wonderful. The bartenders were polite and accomidating. Tara was such a great help throughout our whole planning process. She pretty much doubled as a wedding planner and provided information to us that didn't even pertain to her job. Everyone really made our wedding amazing.

We worked with Jessica and she was very helpful from start to finish. She made sure we were getting everything ready for the wedding and was very understanding as well when it came to changing guest numbers. She made sure everything went perfect and she did everything that we told her regarding the decor.

The abbington staff was amazing on our wedding day and I am glad we chose this banquet even though it was an hour away! I would recommend it to other brides because you wont worry at all and it will make your wedding planning much easier!

My husband and I got married on September 3rd, 2011 and had our reception at the Abbington. We definitely recommend it! Jessica was our catering manager and was great. She answered all of our questions and kept us at ease. Everything was taken care of :)
We had the south ballroom (the one with the mirrors, not the windows) and found it just perfect for what we needed. We ended up having just about 200 guests and the space was more than enough for that number of people. We wanted the south ballroom because we did not want our guests to have to walk to the other end of the banquet hall to use the washroom. There were 4 events going on that night including ours and it was not an issue at all. The doors our our room were kept closed so we did not hear any of the other events.
The room was decorated and set up exactly as I had requested and it was beautiful! They honestly did a great job. The food was fantastic and was served warm :) We gave our guests the option of sliced beef tenderloin, chicken stuffed with artichoke hearts, spinach, and red pepper filling with parmesan herb cream sauce, and vegetarian pasta primavera alfredo. All of it was really good. We did not hear a bad thing about the food from anyone.
During the event, the head table and our 2 parent tables were very well taken care of. These 3 tables were served drinks throughout dinner and they even divided the extra food (from the guests that did not show up) amongst the 3 tables. It was awesome.
Overall, I definitely recommend the Abbington. Everything was taken care of and they did their best to keep us stress free. I could not have asked for a better wedding reception experience!

We are so glad we chose to have our reception at the Abbington. Working with Tara pre-wedding was a breeze! She was always responsive over e-mail and really took the time to get to know what we wanted. Working through the paperwork and everything with her was so easy, she's very organized. I had a few guest with dietary restrictions and that was no problem, she handled everything. The tasting was excellent and easy, and the food day of was exactly the same. Everyone was raving about it!

The wedding cakes are included in the package here, and about two weeks before the wedding the bakery they'd be working with quit! They immediately got another bakery and our cake turned out beautiful! I think it probably even surpassed what the original bakery was going to do!

Our room captain Paulette was great. When we got the the venue day of, she immediately introduced herself and had some appetizers sent up to the bridal room. She checked in with us all night to make sure we were doing ok and handled any thing that came up.

I couldn't have asked for a more flawless evening! You won't be disappointed if you chose The Abbington.

July 8, 2011 was our wedding date and we worked with Tara. She did a fabulous job. I could not have asked for a better coordinator. She was very flexible with me and listened to what it was that we wanted and met our expectations. Actually, she and the Abbington staff exceeded our expectations. Our wedding was great, everything turned out wonderfully and thats because Tara and the staff made sure everything looked the way it should. The food was awesome. We also got a late night snack and dessert table...WOW! Everyone was impressed with that, especially the dessert table! Great people to work with and trust for your wedding, great venue, just great overall!

Wonderful! The room was gorgeous and the service was wonderful to me and my wedding party. Everything went over perfectly and I couldn't be happier. The cost for the type of party we had was valued very well. We had an amazing meal, awesome service, a beautiful room, and a very wonderful consultant to work with (Jessica Sclafini). Our wedding was July 1, 2011... it was GREAT. From the very first visit with Jessica to walking out the door the night of the wedding. Jessica is very patient and understanding and doesn't allow anything to stress her out, not even an anxious bride... :) Our ceremony and reception was flawless. I also received a lot of comments about the food, everyone loved it. It was also very much so in our budget, affordable. I would recommend the Abbington to anyone & everyone. Definately ask for Jessica, she is the best.

I can't say enough good things about the Abbington! My husband and I got married in June of 2011 and from the beginning, everything went smoothly. Jessica was helpful and informative and quickly answered all of my questions. On the day of the wedding our room captain, Chris was a rock star! He checked on us often and was there for anything we needed (or wanted). Our guests said it was the best food they've had in a long time (not just at a wedding). All the filets were cooked the same (which is rare for banquet food). The space was flawless.

I could go on for days about how much I love Abbington, but I think there's a character limit. I have no hesitations recommending them to any bride in the future!

The Abbington and the Abbington Staff are truly amazing! I was able to have a fabulous reception and not break the bank doing it! Jessica was wonderful and so detail oriented. She always got back to me in a very timely manner and made my husband and I her top priority. The Abbington can meet the needs of both a money conscious bride (like myself), or one who will pay top dollar. The Abbington Rocks!!

We just had our wedding on June 5th at The Abbington. We loved it!! We worked with Jessica, who is just amazing! The food is delicious and the venue is gorgeous. They really pay attention to every last detail. We have gotten so many compliments about our reception because of all the hard work they did. It was really our dream wedding!!

The Abbington offers great value and fabulous execution! Our planner, Kathy K, was so flexible and paid close attention to detail when working with us. Our staff that evening were also fabulous - people are still raving about the quality and quantity of food - and the decor was perfect. We were so happy with the venue and definitely recommend!

Abbington was a wonderful place to work with! Jessica was my consultant, and she was great with answering questions and accomodating our needs! The venue is so beautiful inside, and each bride gets a private suite for her and her bridesmaids. The food is AMAZING- I got so many comments after the wedding about how great the food was (and I didn't even choose anything fancy- just the stuffed chicken). There's so much of it too!

They did a great job setting up the reception with all our favors and flowers. You get a pretty good deal and a lot included even with the lower package they offer. I would highly recommend Abbington Banquets- they really know how to throw a gorgeous, but fun party!!

We were very happy with our wedding. Kathy and the staff were great. Everything was set up just as expected. The room for the ceremony was set up so cozy and personal. We just loved it.

Abbington's food is hands-down the BEST. Quality + Portion-Size, the pricing is unbeatable compared to all of the banquet halls my wife & I had explored throughout the suburbs of Chicago-land. Ask for Kathy! She is the perfect mother-figure that was able to help us get through everything!

I would have given them all 5 stars for everything except for the bakery that they use. The food, ambience, staff were all great! The bakery that they used, Le Petite Sweets was awful...the cake was delicious, but they promise you this fabulous cake but can't produce results. The day of my wedding, the delivery guy was piping frosting onto my cake as my guests were entering. It was bad enough that they were late, but the design of the cake was not what I asked for. I'm thinking that perhaps en route the frosting was disturbed so the guy tried to fix it by piping frosting all over the cake and that made it look horrible! I was so embarassed! I tried to contact the bakery to share my concerns with them, just to let them know that I wasn't happy and she never even bothered to contact me about it. The Abbington was notified as well and they were quite receptive!

All in all, Abbington was wonderful, I just hope that they changed their bakery!

Jessica was my wedding coordinator. She was very professional and helpful. I really liked working with her. Everything was very organized and I received prompt responses. Overall it was a dream, the ballroom was decorated perfectly, the staff were overall very professional and helpful, I heard many compliments about the food, the prices were reasonable for the quality in comparison to other venues, the sweet table was amazing, etc.

On the other hand there were a few disappointments. The first being I had a bad experience with the company florist that Abbington contracts with, Shamrock Gardens. When I went in for a consultation for flowers the person I worked with was extremely unhelpful and actually kind of rude. I wanted to go in and check flowers off my list of things to do. I came in with photographs and ideas of what I liked. I set up the appointment almost two months in advance and they didn't have any examples for me to look at. I was told on the phone that they would have arrangements for me to view. The florist insisted that I do the standard included arrangement for the head table and I wanted something I had seen in Abbington's photo books. The florist consultant was very unhappy with my idea of doing a less traditional arrangement and was rude when I persisted that I imagined something else. I was fully prepared to purchase all of my wedding flowers from Shamrock before this meeting. In the end, she didn't have any suggestions on bouquets because I hadn’t narrowed down the colors and very clearly got frustrated with my ideas. I decided to only do the headtable arrangement and centerpieces with Shamrock gardens as a result. After all, they were included in the Abbington Package. On the wedding day, the center pieces were nice and so were the table arrangements. I was willing to pay the extra money for a not-included head table arrangement, but I was unhappy that I had to pay the cost to "rent" the vases on the head table. A cost which was significantly high! I could have bought them from another florist for the same price and kept the vases afterwards. I took my bridal flower (bouquets, boutonnieres, church flower) business to Walden Floral design, which is absolutely fabulous. They were full of suggestions, very helpful, professional, and reasonable.

My second major issue was the cake! La petite Sweets, which was just contracted with Abbington, did a horrible job on the cake. The cake was supposed to be blue but was very unevenly colored and the fondant ribbons they promised around the cake were kind of hideous. When looking at the wedding photos, they were not the perfection I imagined or was promised. To top it off, the wedding cake was really late and our whole receiving line was thrown off by that. We didn't have the chance to take a few photographs in the ballroom with the cake that we had planned due to it being late. I will say that the cake at least tasted good.


Finally, one of the staff members mentioned her numerous divorces. I did not find this appropriate when speaking with an engaged couple.

Our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful The Abbington was the night of our reception! We had a lot of unique props and everything was set up perfectly! The room was beautifully lit and the food was amazing! Our guests loved the food and atmosphere, and we kept getting compliments all night long! Our captain, Chris, was very friendly and accommodating assisting us with whatever we may have needed. Tara, the planner, was so nice to work with and executed everything flawlessly! We could not have picked a better place for our wedding reception! Thank you for everything! :)

After failing to be impressed with dozens of receptions sites, The Abbington was recommended to me by my sister, who was a bridesmaid in a wedding that took place there. The moment I saw how beautiful it was, I knew I HAD to book it! We had the middle room with an extention so it was plenty of room for our 165 guests. Tara was our coordinator & I can not tell you how easy she was to work with. I can't thank her enough for putting up with my constant calling, asking her tons of questions & checking & triple checking every last detail. On the day of, we had a cold windy day so we arrived about an hour and a half early so we could take pictures on their beautiful staricase. We had a captain for the night named Dian who went above & beyond the call of duty, including helping to put our wedding gifts in my parent's car. You can't find service like that anymore. At the head table we had our own waiter named Chris who took care of my bridal party. He came up to us literally every five minutes to see if we needed anything. The food is
A M A Z I N G!!! Eveyone is still talking about it. The night was pretty much perfect thanks to the Abbington, their amazing staff, and their exceptional service!

Definitely get your what you paid for and more! The food was amazing and well under $100/plate. Everyone loved the food and there was not one complaint. Abbington offers that elegant look where your guests will think you spent much more then you did. The staff is excellent and we had our own "server" that was dedicated to making sure the head table and parents table always had everything they wanted. I highly recommend booking your venue with them, you won't be disappointed!!

Biggest bang for your buck! It is hard to find an elegant and great tasting menu these days for under $100 a plate, well the Abbington has just that! They put together a jaw dropping room, kept our guests happy all evening and had a personal "captain" for the head table, two parent tables and our ushers through dinner to give them anything they wanted from the bar or needed help with. We didn't worry about a thing that night, just enjoyed ourselves and the amazing food!

What can I say other than 5 star service from start to finish! Tara, our coordinator at the Abbington, made all of our planning so simple. She provided helpful packets for us to use and plan with. She sent reminders of things we had to do. She responded to all email and phone inquires so quickly! She was a pleasure to work with!
Our big day came, and the room was just gorgeous! It was more beautiful than I imagined. hors d' oeuvres were ready when our wedding party arrived in the bridal suite. Our Captain, Diane, and her staff were amazing!! The service was impeccable. All of our guests were served almost all at the same time. When one person would leave their table during dinner, someone would come put a metal cover over it so the food did not get cold. The food was delicious and so was the cake. We cannot say enough good things about the Abbington team. They helped make our special day stress free and we enjoyed every minute!

I have nothing but amazing things to say about the staff here. Our wedding was more than I imagined. Our Banquet Manager (Kathy) answered all of our questions and put everything together beautifully. The venue was gorgeous! I recommend weddings in the winter. We were married 1/8/11. It was cheaper and the snow and decor was simply beautiful.

Abbington Banquets is amazing! I can't brag enough about the amazing job that they did at our wedding. At first I was hesitant on having our reception at the Abbington b/c I wanted a one wedding venue, I didn't want to share with other weddings...but it worked out sooo great! I didn't even leave the reception room so it was like only my wedding was there! We had Tara coordinate our wedding and she did a great job right from the start! The room looked so beautiful and the planning went perfectly, I do not have a single complaint from my wedding venue! Thank you so much abbington!

The Abbington was a beautiful venue for a reception. All of my guest were amazing on how elegant everything looked. The food was fantastic. The service was great. We work with Jessica on planning our wedding and let me tell you she was the best. She is super personable and very easy to get along with. When I was freaking out she was trying to calm me down. I really enjoyed working with her alot. I can not say enough nice things about the Abbington.

Our coordinator Kathy was very helpful at the Abbington, along with the rest of the staff. (Bob must be one of the friendliest people I've met, what a nice guy!) She responded to all our concerns, and she helped us with any problem that arose and found a solution, if need be. The day of, everything went off without a hitch! The wait staff were all very polite and helpful, the lighting was perfect, and the meal was delicious! Our coordinator had included all the little details that we'd asked for. Paula was very helpful too the day of! Thanks for making our day even better, Abbington staff!

The Abbington is a beautiful place to have your wedding ceremony as well as reception. When I walked in to see it all completed it was more beautiful then i could have ever dreamed of. The staff was very accomodating especially because my father is in a wheelchair. They went above and beyond to make sure he was taken care of and all the chairs were spaced apart enough and even brought him a special salad! They truly made our wedding the best day of my life and I will always have wonderful memories about that night.

We had our wedding reception at the Abbington and worked with Tara throughout the planning process. She was amazing, always getting back to me within a couple hours. The food was the delicious, the room looked amazing, and mostly everything went off without a hitch. Despite some of the issues I had, I would recommend the Abbington to anyone who is planning a wedding.

That being said, there were a few problems that came up. First, their recommended florist completely messed up our bouquets. Then in an attempt to fix them, ruined our ceremony arrangements. This is not Abbington's fault, but they are associating themselves with this florist. The second issue, is that the Abbington didn't inform me of a slideshow that was being planned during our reception by one of my bridesmaids. I would have greatly appreciated being alerted to it before the projector randomly popped up in the room while I was enjoying cocktail hour. I personally think slideshows are tacky and unnecessary, and for that reason, did not plan one for ours. I had gone over every detail for the reception, making for sure it was exactly what we wanted after months and months of planning, and in the end the reception wasn't what we wanted due to the slideshow. I was the only one in contact with the Abbington during the wedding planning process, and would have greatly appreciated a heads-up on the slideshow that someone else was planning with them. Lastly, before booking, make sure you are willing to have up to 3 other weddings go on at the same time as yours. I really didn't mind this, but some tables complained to me afterward that they couldn't hear the toasts because of the noise from the neighboring room (I was told they had left the room divider partially open). Also, guests from other weddings came into our room near the end of the night; however, the Abbington employees quickly escorted them out, which I appreciated.

Wow, I feel horrible to give the Abbington the lowest rating that they will probably see and I hope they will grow and learn from this feedback. I feel as though after a review of the events that took place, this is quite fair. First off, the Abbington wedding coordinator stated the Lobster was fresh Lobster flown in on Thursday or Friday. The reality of it was "Fresh Frozen Lobster Tails from Western Austrailia" flown in on Thursday. The key word here being "Frozen". Not all of my guests complained that night about the mushy lobster, some did and were served another lobster as a replacement. After returning from my honeymoon, I received additional complaints from guests that the lobster was mushy, but I responded that they should have said something to the venue then and not to me now. Responsiveness was not the fastest. Our contact is said to be the hardest worker at the venue, but is unavailable on Mondays and Tuesdays. She was very strict on letting us view the venue with our videographer/photographers to view points of best shots so we had to wing it on the day of. She also shared with us her many divorces and weddings that she has had that just did not seem appropriate for newly weds. Lastly, the venue had booked 2 other parties that night so the place was a bit crowded and that made parking difficult. A piano was to be made available to us but was not, a free hotel room after the wedding was to be provided, but when we had arrived, they tried to bill us for an extra $200 or so. Fortunately, I talked them down. Overall, we were really disappointed with the reception hall out of all the countless vendors we had to deal with including a change in church 2 months before the wedding.

We were just married on Friday, May 28, 2010 and we couldn't be happier with the Abbington. Everything was perfect!!! We had so many people talk about how great the food and cake tasted. I would not change anything!

We were so satisfied with the Abbington! The staff was very attentive and accomidating to all of our needs. I noticed that during the dinner they were walking around and asking our guests how everything was. I was very impressed with that and would reccomend this hall to everyone!

My husband and I as well as our families could go on and on about how wonderful this place is to hold a wedding reception! Our wedding planner was Jessica and she was so fun to work with but also knew when to be professional and get stuff done! Let me tell you I was so picky with the decor and how our wedding pics would look, even down to the carpet...haha I know...but it matters when you have colors that dont match the decor! The place could match any colors though, they have lots of ivory and gold, and the carpet is black with gold and i think silver fancy swirls and the chairs are ivory/champagne covered so they dont even really need covers!! Our colors were black, white, purple, and hints of silver. They were so wonderful from the day we signed with them till the end of the reception! They worked with our complicated work schedules, when we moved our wedding date up 6 months, gave us a great deal, and something beautiful we could afford on a smaller wedding budget, AND I got so many compliments from our guests! If you want a beautiful reception that will wow your guests (even parents haha), and that is also stress free and a place you can depend on to give you great service, especially on the wedding day, go here! The day of they even pulled out my chair for me, the service was amazing I felt like royalty!! The food was great, the bar selection was great, what they include in the package made wedding planning a reception a breeze, the atmosphere was gorgeous, and the staff is amazing!! Book with them and you can't go wrong!! I have recommended them to a bunch of friends and family so far and will continue to do so! Thank you so much Abbington and Jessica for helping us to throw such a beautiful wedding!!!

From day 1, Abbington was awesome! We were familiar with the facility because this is where, at their New Year's Eve party, my now husband popped the question!
We worked with Jessica and it seemed like every other day we had a new question to ask her, or a request to make, she was always there to help. The all-inclusive aspect of Abbington is great, and takes a lot of stress out of having to worry about finding multiple vendors. The cake from the bakery they use was great, the florist who provides the centerpieces and other floral decorations (Shamrock gardens) was great too; the best thing is that when Abbington promises a certain level of service, they deliver. Everything that they promised, from the chamapagne and appetizers in our bridal room before the reception, to the attentive service of our room captain during the night, was right on the money. We got to take a look at the room on our wedding day, before the guests arrived, and it was perfect! Jessica and the folks at Abbington took to the time to arrange favors and everything that we brought in a way that looked stunning and totally pulled together. We would definitely recommend Abbington - and Jessica - to anyone for a wedding reception or any other special event.

The staff at the Abbington are the best especially Tara (our event manager) and Dina (our event captain). Planning our event was effortless – Tara really wants to make your wedding dreams come true. She plays attention to every last detail and is honest when giving advice. Our wedding could not have gone smoother – the ballroom looked amazing and quality of food is EXCELLENT. The date of our wedding day was set based on what days The Abbington was available and we were not disappointed. The service of the staff was incredible and all of the food was delicious. We received numerous compliments for how the room was set up, how attentive the staff was and for how good the food was.

Kathy Koutsogiannis helped set up our reception and our room manager that night, I believe her name was Diane, took care of not only the Bride and Groom but also our parents. It was a subtle touch that really meant a lot to us.

The venue is absolutely beautiful, the staff is incredibly amazing. They like their jobs, and make you feel like your wedding is special! I am so thankful we choose this venue, it made the day beautiful, romantic and memorable!

Kathy is the BEST ever guides you along the way gently and knowledgable of how tomake that final count. Kathy's suggestions of vendors is right on DJ's, Photography, chair covers, flowers, cake THEY HAVE IT ALL!! and price is extremely reasonable for ALL they offer. The banquet rooms are stunning and just perfect for pictures.

The Abbington was AMAZING!! Their staff is WONDERFUL and the place is BEAUTIFUL!! The captain was awesome and made sure our evening went perfectly. The food was amazing and everyone just raved about it, they even had doggie bags so people could take their left over foor with them since they give such big portions. The sweet table was great and had soo much stuff on it. They really cater to your every need. Kathy is AMAZING there also!! They make sure everything is set up just the way you want it and are so polite and helpful with everything! I had black and hot pink as my colors and Kathy had so many ideas with what we could do. She suggested using black napkins instead of the white at no extra charge and even changed my cake table tablecloth to black the day of the wedding which looked awesome with the hot pink and lime breen flowers on it. The chair covers, sashes and table runners that they use are in very good shape and looked amazing as well. I would highly recommend the Abbington to everyone!! I looked at 15 different reception venues before finding the Abbington and I am soo thankful that I finally found it. It was the best wedding I could have ever asked for.

I can't say enough about the Abbington. Tara is simply wonderful. My limo broke down and the driver was rude so when I arrived, I was upset and my dress was stained. They whipped into gear (almost an hour earlier than I said I would arrive) and got us water, refreshments, and helped remove the stain! They went above and beyond. In addition, the food was spectacular and we have had many, many compliments that our wedding (8/23/2008) was one of the best people had ever been to with regarding to the ambiance and taste of food. I highly recommend the Abbington in every area. Oh, and when our headcount was low, they provided a sweet table at no additional cost so the guests that did attend had a wonderful experience.

The woman we worked with (Jesssica) was wonderful. She assisted us with all of the reception planning details. The looks of the planning went well, banquet hall was beautiful, and the flow of the day while at the hall went great! Would definitely recommend this hall to others.

We loved our reception! It was exactly what we wanted! Kathy is so great to work with! We even had 2 guests show up at our ceremony that were not RSVP'ers, and she found placecards that matched ours, filled out the names, and placed them at tables before we got there. They are very personable, and it's just nice that the flowers, cake, food, and decorations are all included in one price.

I had my wedding at the Abbington in May and it was wonderful. The people that work here are amazing and you feel like family when you speak to them. The food was delicious and the whole night went so smoothly.

The prices are great, the knowledge and service amazing and they took care of all the details. It was painless working with them and they were extremely professional. I cannot think of one complaint. abbington banquets was a great place for an indian wedding, as they were very accomodating to change their menus and let us bring in outside food. they were able to make me feel comfortable with my planning, as i put the wedding togther in less than 2 months and had 800 guests!

This place was wonderful and SO accomodating. However, the only downfall is that it shares a parking lot with a Wal-Mart.

The Abbington was wonderful. The food was delicious and the packages were reasonable. The staff was so accommodating to anything we wanted to do outside the norm. Since our wedding, my good friend and cousin have both had their weddings at the Abbington.

The food was outstanding! I received letters saying it was one of the most beautiful weddings and had the best food. In my fam that is important!!

Words can not express how impeccable your staff and especially you and our Room Captain made our Wedding Reception so GRAND. Your appointment to detail was exceptional. We interviewed many venues in and around the Chicago area and the Abbington fit our criteria perfectly. I can not say enough about your prompt and courteous response to every E-mail and phone call. You always made us feel like we were your only client. Your recommendations were so heartfelt and personal especially the suggestion of the orchestra - they were absolutely Incredible. You never wavered at any of our demands from greeting our guest’s at the front door, ladies being served first and the difficulty with our chocolate swans. You nor your chef gave us any hassle. The Chefs preparation of the food was phenomenal, even better than we expected. The presentation was very appetizing and of course delicious, from the filet, to the chicken and the Salmon. The Ultimate dessert table was a magnificent feast. Many of our guest stated the dessert table was by far more elegant and spectacular than any cruise ships “Midnight Buffet”.

From the moment that we entered the reception hall we were greeted by the most attentive and kind staff. Our captain is great at her job. She made sure that every detail and request was met. All of our table decorations, favors and other details were so carefully taken care of. She made sure that both Andy and I had everything that we could need or want.

Our guests have still not stopped raving about the food and service. It seemed that every course was specially prepared and presented for us. The food was perfection, I could not have asked for anything better. Our servers were so kind and courteous; our entire bridal party was amazed at how well they were treated and the level of service that they received. Our friends and family were so pleased and thankful of the service they received at their tables. I have not heard one complaint, nor did I except one.

The bartenders made the night full of fun and entertainment. Many of our family members wanted us to share that they had the best time with them. They were so fast and friendly, meeting their needs.

A great suburban destination for your event. Large space can accommodate big groups.

I worked in Abbington few times and they are one of the best wedding hosting venues I worked with, they are details oriented, the lighting is fantabulous, the food was of course out of this world and hot, they are prompt, the set up is always perfect and romantic. I love shooting there it's so awesome to shoot at a perfect place.

One of the best banquet halls to have your reception at. The service, food and attention to details is as meticulous as mine and would highly recommend them. My clients who have had their receptions there were extremely pleased with the Abbington.

The Abbington is one of our favorite banquet facilities to work at. It is a beautiful venue and the staff is always professional and easy to work with. We love it so much when it came time for one of our DJ’s to get married he had his reception there! Keep in mind that this is a person who sees a lot of venues. I think that says a lot for the quality and service at the Abbington!

Looking forward to a wedding is made to be so much fun when it is at the Abbington.It has been an honor to be involved in dozens of ceremonies at the fabulous venue. But anyone can build/have a good facility. It takes a fine team of staff to bring out the best. And it happens every day at the Abbington. How things get better and better, I do not know.
