New Orleans Top DJ = a must! My wedding was on Nov.5, 2011 and I was worried about my music selection being that my wedding is not a typical wedding. My wedding was Interracial with Asian and American tradition. I shy away from the typical Asian band that can provide me with the Asian twist I needed and went with New Orleans Top DJ. With a little guidance and Asian music selection, the reception hours were filled with mixture of music and Mandy, our DJ, was very organized and professional. In the end, everyone had a blast with the different variety of music. Mandy was excellent! Price, great. Service, great! Thanks New Orleans Top DJ

Bless his heart. I may have been a little paranoid about our playlist. My now husband's friend made us one for during dinner, and my H made one for dancing, and he wanted them played in the exact order. Really, we couldn't have made it much easier, he just had to press play. For what ever reason I was worried that might not happen, and Ron was very accommodating and handled me concerns very well.I felt even worse after one of H's cousins had a run-in with one of his lights and nearly knocked it over, but all was recovered.I can't comment much on his actual DJ ability, but for what we needed, and the price, I have no complaints!

Well, this is a little bit ooutdated. His price is a bit higher than this now--$380 for 4 hours, which is still a fantastic deal! He is willing to integrate karaoke with regular music if that's what you want. We had a blast with Ron and he even sent a nice little congratulatory note after the event. He was very easy to deal with and laid back. Oh, and he's known as Top DJ of New Orleans or New Orleans Top DJ now.

What is your usual attire?

Dress pants, dress shirt & tie... Tuxedo is available, if requested.

If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?

We normally obtain 100% of the pre-requested songs. If we have EXTREME difficulty obtaining a "non-mainstream" song, then we will ask if the "couple" has a copy they could provide for us.

How many other DJs do you work with?

There are two DJs, each with over 5 years of DJ experience. We performed for 90 weddings in 2007.

What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?

There is no minimum time.

Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?

It is quite impractical for us to do this, for unlike many other DJs, we cover a VAST area of Central and Southern Louisiana (150 mile radius). We find that we can use email and/or phone communications VERY effectively to accommodate our clients' needs and desires... plus these "progressive" methods are much more convenient to both parties.

Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?

Yes, any and all!

Do you bring your own equipment?

Yes... we have $10,000 of custom-built DJ equipment, which is incomparable for its size!

What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?

Yes, we offer a high-quality lighting system that is carefully controlled by our laptop computer... at NO EXTRA CHARGE!

How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?

About one hour before the event starts. We provide our own 4' setup table and white table drape.

Do you have any extra space requirements?

We can comfortable fit in a 12ft wide by 6ft deep space.

Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?

Yes, we emcee the Entrance Introductions, Special Dances, Cake Cutting, Garter/Boquet Toss, Money Dance (if applicable).

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?

No breaks are taken... it is "customary" for the clients to offer the DJ a meal, but it is definitely not required!

Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?

No breaks... Not Applicable.

What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?

Yes.

What is your overtime rate?

We actually charge a "reduced rate" for overtime (lower than our "base" rate)... for most "additional" costs are already covered in the initial charge. Overtime hours can be selected in half-hour increments.

Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?

Travel expenses are already covered in our LOW pricing!

Additional Advice

How reliable are your DJs? We have a 5-Year, 100% Reliability Record.There are two disheartening problems we’ve encountered in our experiences in the past.Both problems are related to RELIABILITY. We get calls from clients looking for a DJ at the last moment because their’s cancelled (many times to play elsewhere for more money). We find this extremely unacceptable, for we’ve never cancelled anyone in our 5 years of existence, and don’t intend to do so!... particularly on such an important day as one’s wedding! Secondly, we get calls from clients who are again looking for a DJ at the last moment because their friend or relative was to do them a favor and play free (or at a much-reduced rate). Somehow, this friend or relative had to cancel at the last moment because of some problem that developed (either personal or their equipment "broke"). Please beware that this could happen to you....for sometimes your friend or relative can suddenly become "unfriendly" :-)
