Adamson House (Historical Landmark)

This is the perfect location for an outdoor wedding! There are great ocean views and a variety of places on the property to have the ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner/dancing. Being that this is a California State Park, there are some limitations to what can be done on the property. Everything must be brought in (chairs, tables, dance floor, catering). There is also only street parking or first-come-first-serve public lots along the PCH. We chose to rent a parking lot nearby and hired a shuttle to being guests over. The bathrooms are also fancy port-a-potties, except for in the bridal dressing room. The staff at Adamson House was great and very helpful. There will be more logistical challenges than in an indoor banquet facility, but you can't beat the beauty of the Malibu shoreline, gorgeous Spanish colonial home and lovely gardens!

We shot at the Adamson House this last year and would like to vouch for it's amazing location. Such a beautiful location right along the Malibu beach, the quality of light is just outstanding. Especially good is the actual ceremony location- if you time it right, you get a gorgeous sunset streaming in through the tree behind.

The Adamson House is a gorgeous Malibu state-owned property right next to the beach. The gardens, lawns, courtyards, and house are exceptionally clean and well-maintained. There are so many beautiful photo shots here, we didn't need to go anywhere else. Given that the property is managed by the state, I thought the service and responsiveness was quite good. Mo is the person to contact and he is very knowledge and responsive. The rangers working at my wedding were very professional and did a great job of making sure all the vendors were following the rules while staying discreet. However, reserving a public property, also had its inconveniences. We had to purchase wedding insurance and follow a long list of guidelines around what we could and couldn't do for the wedding. Also, the Adamson House only provides the site, not including catering, beverages, party rentals, guest parking, decorations. So it was extra work selecting and managing all of these additional vendors. But, if you really want to customize your wedding down to the little details, being able to use different vendors provides you with more options to do so.

Overall, the Adamson House was the perfect location for us. It is so beautiful that it's worth the hassle of working with the government. It is very popular, especially on Saturdays, so try your best to make reservations at least a year in advance to get the more popular dates.

I am so deeply grateful that we had our wedding at the Adamson House. The venue is gorgeous, historic, and very classic California - we were proud to share such a beautiful space with our out-of-town guests especially. .

The park rangers were lovely to work with. A lot of people seem to be scared off by the number of rules and regulations that come with booking the Adamson House (it's a state park), but as long as you can handle the early closing times the rest is actually quite easy to manage provided you work with caterers/rental companies who have experience with the venue. It's not the same pampered experience you might have if you're working with a fancy hotel (this is the state government by the way), but you can count on a prompt response to your calls. I think there used to be someone working for the parks dept. who wasn't very friendly, but in the past few years everyone I worked with was just great. Also, although the venue is expensive it's nice that the money goes to the state parks system!

Mostly, I would just want to convey how extraordinary it is to be able to spend an afternoon or evening on that gorgeous piece of Malibu coastline. There was a full moon over the water the night of our wedding, and just as we were giving our toasts a fireworks show started up somewhere down the coast, over the lights of the pier. Absolute magic!

This is the most beautiful place to have your wedding. It has a 180 degree view of the ocean and is absolutely gorgeous. The house is amazing on the inside and out. There are such green plants and lush trees this is the perfecttt place. Yoiu gotta see this one before making a final choice!

I knew this was the place when we pulled in. It's perfect if you love older homes and the beach. My guests thought they weren't in LA! they loved it too!! It's worth the hassle of rentals, etc because it's such a perfect place.

The setting is gorgeous. You're right at the beach without being ON the beach - very important becuase I needed to wear heels on my wedding day! I loved the historic feel to the house and the wonderful green lawns. We had the ceremony on the Cedar Lawn (nice and shady!), reception in the front courtyard and dinner on the back patio overlooking the water. I seriously could not have asked for a more wonderful place. My husband and I are both native Angelenos and we got so many comments from friends and relatives that they never knew about this place before. Everyone loved it.

There are a ton of restrictions to what you can and can't do though so make sure you do your homework! I loved that I was able to pick and choose my own vendors and set the place up how I wanted. However, small little things like we weren't allowed to put petals on the table were annoying. Just make sure your vendor has worked there before and knows the rules and you'll be good to go.

I gave it 4 stars because of those small annoyances, but really, it is a lovely lovely lovely location.

I knew what I wanted from a location. I knew I wanted it to reflect the kinds of places we loved...so it had to be by a beautiful beach and incorporate beautiful (preferably Spanish) architecture. The Adamson House was the only place that I felt incorporated both. Let me just say that if you love this place without all of the decorations, you will be breathless when you see it done up for a wedding. Even having visited the site a few times, I couldn’t have imagined how amazing a place it would be for a wedding. For weeks now, still nobody can stop talking about how incredible it was. The feel that it evoked for our guests was very much like a beach vacation. They were able to eat, drink and celebrate by the sand, the weather was perfect, the setting picturesque, and everybody’s cares seemed to drift away. The only negative was that the party had to end around 10:30 due to park rules, and the majority of the crowd was nowhere close to being ready to end the party. So...we offered an afterparty at the Radisson’s rooftop bar/restaurant, and about 30 people ended up coming there to continue the celebration. I will also add that there are a lot of restrictions for the location, so I imagine it would be a big hassle if you didn’t hire a caterer who had worked there before. Luckily, we did - so we had zero problems.

If you are looking for a beautiful historical mansion with an ocean view, then I would highly recommend this facility. You can take tons of beautiful photos on the on the beach, in their garden or use the mansion as your back drop. Your guests will really enjoy the ocean view, the garden and watching the sunset during dinner. I have heard many guests say “Wow, I never knew this place even existed”. The location is easy to work with. They do have a list of rules, however their staff are really good about explaining them and ask that you and your vendors have a mandatory meeting to ensure everyone understands their policies. We really enjoy working there and with their staff.

They only include the location, however Event Professionals can assist you with an all inclusive catering package which will includes all party rentals, food, cake, bar (byo) staff, reception coordinator to ensure a stress free catered event. You will need a dance floor, lighting, possible a generator if you are having a band. Our company can assist you with all your planning needs at a reasonable price.

This location is state owned, so the price is reasonable and worth every penny. It books quickly, so if you are lucky and your date is available, do not wait too long to reserve it.
