We are very happy that we chose to have our reception at the Admiral Baker Clubhouse. The venue was perfect--beautiful and intimate. We had about 100 guests--the room could hold more, but we purposely kept it at 100 so it would be more manageable (i.e., we would have more time with the guests). With 100 guests, the room was full, but there was still a lot of room to walk around. We chose to have the cocktail hour on the patio--I highly recommend this! The guests enjoyed their time meeting each other and also jumped into the photo booth we had prior to dinner.Dinner was amazing. We heard lots of compliments from our guests about the food choices (steak, fish, or vegetarian). Although the dance floor looked a little small, everyone was able to dance comfortably. Parking--easy peazy. The other place we looked at was the Admiral Kidd, but access to the base for our vendors and guests would have added an extra layer of complications that we didn't want to worry about. Parking at the Admiral Baker Clubhouse--drive up and park (lots of parking). Easy peazy! And last but not least, I cannot write this review without writing about Sandy, the Catering Manager. She took EXCELLENT care of us! She went above and beyond to help us with our reception, from food selection to helping us understand our contract, last minute changes, and wrapping everything up. She was extremely patient with all of our questions, worked really well with our wedding coordinator, and really made our reception venue beautiful. We highly recommend Admiral Baker Clubhouse!

THE absolute best bang for your buck!! Not your typical "wedding food" servings, all of our guests left with a happy stomach! And the venue itself has a gorgeous view!!

If you are a bride with a military sponsor, this is a great venue. They have great packages that fit all of our needs and worked well with my fiance and I to have all of the special little touches we wanted for our wedding. When rain hit on and off on our wedding day, they allowed us to set up on the ceremony site as originally planned and immediately moved the ceremony inside, which included moving tables to allow for the processional. They were also very flexible when it came to the schedule and when we wanted to move dinner up. Overall, I was overly satisfied with our experience using Admiral Baker.

Admiral Baker Clubhouse is a military venue, so if you have a military sponsor, this place is worth every penny, and then some! The Clubhouse has a full-service kitchen and bar, and overlooks a beautiful golf course. The Presidio Dining Room is the only one in the facility so it is pretty much private once the golfers leave (usually before sundown). The other positive thing is, unlike the other military venues in San Diego, you do not need to organize to have credentials for every person/vehicle since there isn't a formal gate to pass through. The architecture of the building fit our style perfectly. Exposed, wooden beams, arches, iron chandeliers, stone floors, and fire places. We did end up renting linens though. Admiral Baker Clubhouse only offers white, polyester, lap-length table linens, and the chairs were a bit worn/dingy. So we rented nice floor-length linens, as well as chair covers. They do offer various colors for napkins. The only down side to the venue was that, towards the middle of the night, we started smelling a really foul smell (sulfur?), and we're not sure where it came from. At first we thought it was coming from the kitchen, since it smelled like boiled eggs. But we later heard from other guests that the smell was pretty strong on the patio... possibly from the pond? Or the quarries in the distance? Just something to be aware of. Overall, it was a beautiful and spacious venue.

I would say, any of the military's catering sites are so extremely affordable you just can't beat it. I especially liked Admiral Baker since it's on a golf course and you don't have to check in through any military gate. Also, it's the only event room in the facility, so once the golfers were done, we had the entire building / patio to ourselves. The catering manager herself, Sandy, was 100% amazing. Very accomodating and sweet. Helped me make necessary decisions and ensured everything was set up the way we discussed prior. My only reason for the less than 5 stars is that the catering staff was a bit rude. Apparently, there were a few of my guests in the parking lot having some drinks and the catering staff threatened my wedding coordinator of fining my husband and I. Technically, that is not something they can do since I have no binding contract of what happens in the parking lot. As long as outside drinks are not brought into the reception room itself, then we are completely not accountable. We served the chicken / steak combination plate and the steak was pretty tough. Few of our guests hardly touched it. The chicken, however, was great. My suggestion, get some 2-buck-chuck to serve during dinner and pay the $10 corkage, it still saves you $5 a bottle vs going with their wines.

absolutely beautiful! Good price and it accommodated all our guest. It had bride and groom changing rooms, a nice seperate bar, a huge ballroom and a roofed patio with a gorgeous view for the ceremony. We had both ceremony and reception here. Beautiful scenes for wedding pictures! The vendor worked within our budget. Just make sure to book early, a year in advance! I took away a star because they day of the event they were late on setting up which in turn made us have to wait an hour later than we were originally told that we could set up which made things run a little late.
