Our cake was exactly what we wanted and looked very professional. We had guests commenting on how cool the cake looked. We also changed a few details along the way and Alexandria Pastry Shop was flexible with every change we made. It was also the most delicious of the 9 different cakes we tried. We went with white cake with vanilla buttercream. It was moist and delicious. It was even delivered 45 minutes without a problem. I was worried the car ride might cause frosting malfunctions, but our cake was set up beautifully when we arrived at our venue. We have the top layer anniversary cake in our freezer and cant wait to open it up and remember our wonderful day.

I am so glad that we selected Alexandria Pastry Shop to make our wedding cake. Our initial appointment set the precedence for great service and care. They took time to review all of our options and incorporate our personal style to help create a cake that would love. It turned out perfectly. We loved the visual aspect and the taste of our cake.

We, my now husband and I, went to Alexandria Pastry Shop for a tasting and were so surprised that the tasting samples were actual SLICES of their cakes. Each one tasted so amazingly good that we could not make up our minds. It was really difficult but with me being a chocolate fiend, we decided to go with the black and white chocolate mousse. The mousse is so rich and decadent without being overly heavy and the cake...oh the cake...I can't describe it except to say that it is perfect. Like I tell everyone else, buy a slice or two now, tomorrow or as soon as you can. It's so good.

Back to my professional review: a few months after our tasting (yes, they allowed us to leave the tasting without being pressured to put down a deposit...amazing, I know) we went back and gave them a rough sketch of the design of the cake and a few google pics and they said they'd take care of everything.

We got to see the cake during the reception and we were blown away by it. Our sketch was there right before our eyes come to..."life". It was amazingness and our guests thought so too.

We used Alexandria Pastry Shop for our wedding and could not be more pleased. We stopped by on a whim one day, they were extremely accommodating and we did our tasting right their on the spot.

They designed a fantastic cake for us, which our guests loved. Their prices were extremely reasonable and they delivered everything on time. Their team provides great customer service, and the quality of their cake is no different.

Went to many many bakeries. My advice? Start here. They were so nice and professional every step of the way. From cake tasting to delivery and set up everything went smoothly. Cake held up great and the design was just what we wanted. Everyone loved the cake at the wedding. To stay within my price range we went with a smaller cake and a separate sheet cake. I was so impressed when I walked into the reception and saw that they even decorated the sheet cake!!! Hassle free and tasted amazing within a reasonable price. What more could you ask for?

Wonderful cake! Delicious four layered cake with perfect decoration. You missed out if you did not get a piece of each layer.

Alexandria Pastry Shop has an amazing selection of wedding cakes. My black and white chocolate mousse cake was delicious and looked gorgeous!

We used Alexandria Pastry for our dessert table (in lieu of wedding cake). They were very helpful and were kind to work with my very limited budget. They had so many ideas, choices and recommendations. It was wonderful to get the desserts taken care of and not worry about a thing!

At the reception, my guests were running up to me raving about the chocolate mouse cake and the pumpkin cheese cake we got from A.Pastry. Can't ask for more than that!

My wedding cake was wonderful! Everyone loved it! It was stunningly decorated with fresh fruit and we went with the Bavarian creme. The fondant was beautiful and tasty! I could not have asked for more!

We had a four tier square cake designed by Alexandria Pastry Shop for our wedding - two tiers were Passion Fruit mousse, and two were Triple Chocolate Bavarian. It was delicious! They also designed my cake to match the design that was used on our wedding invitations... it looked awesome!

Sooo....They didn't have the cake on our wedding day. My fiance called to confirm the name of the pick-up person the morning of, and they said they didn't have a cake for us. First, they said they had a cake for a similar sounding name ("K. Jeff" instead of "K. Jax"), but it was an anniversary cake. My fiance flipped out, hung up, and started checking his emails (good thing we always keep a paper trail!). When he called back, they realized that they had made a mistake: they spelled my name wrong and had designed an "happy anniversary" cake.

Now, we just ordered a small, 7" top-tier cake, so they were able to correct the mistake (change the fondant...whatever). But I wonder what would have happened if they misplaced the order for a regular-sized wedding cake! I'm wondering if this happened because the place looks like its run by high school kids...?

The cake was gorgeous, but the service....Not impressed. It's a good thing my fiance waited to tell me this debacle AFTER the...

I worked with Alexandria pastry Shop through the hotel that I was married in. The cake was included in our package for free and this is the company that the hotel worked with. I didnt really expect much because when you work with 3rd party inclusive vendors, they don't generally offer the same options as they would if you were a direct pay customer. However, due to my tight budget, I had to make them work for me. Surprisingly, the cake turned out wonderful. I paid a little extra for some extra details that wasnt offered with the inclusive package such as adding bling to the cake, but overall they did a wonderful job. They captured the Tiffany Blue color and they even offered fondant, which is unusual for inclusive packages. My guests even commented on how good the cake tasted! My favorite was the raspberry and creme filling.

My only drawback was that they seem to be out of date with the world of culinary artistry. Their cake designs seemed a little "1999" but they were very accommodating with my requests.

Very friendly, flexible, easy to work with and professional service. We LOVED our wedding cake, it was super tasty and the guests raved about it! The cake was very important to my husband and we tried a MILLION cakes before the wedding! I would definitely recommend this vendor if you want a delicious cake for your wedding!!

We had a good experience with Alexandria Pastry Shop. We went in for an initial tasting and tried 3 different flavors. We only liked one of the flavors, so they allowed us an additional tasting :). When we went to the Shop, the owner greeted us and showed us pictures of different cakes they had done in the past. They were all very beautiful. I picked one from the album, but later I found a picture of a different cake I liked better. I sent it to them by e-mail, and they quickly confirmed the design change. The only downside to Alexandria Pastry Shop is that they will not put any ribbons or fresh flowers on the cake. You have to do that later, when they deliver the cake to the reception. This policy made me afraid to order a cake that required ribbons. My cake design didn't come out exactly as I imagined it, but the cake still tasted really good :).

Alexandria Pastry Shop did an incredible job with my wedding cake!! Not only did it look exactly like the picture I gave them (even better, actually), but it tasted better than I imagined. Fresh raspberry buttercream layered between almond cake... I can't wait to eat the top tier on our one year anniversary!!! They were very accommodating to all of my specific requests, and gave me very personalized service each time I came into the shop to go over the details. Also, they made a grooms cake for the rehearsal dinner that was equally as beautiful and tasty.

Cake was beautiful and delicious. My only issue was they screwed up the cake flavor. However when I called to inform them of their mistake they were very gracious and apologetic and refunded me partially. Overall very happy - beautiful design and honestly all the flavors are so good.

Our wedding venue (the Key Bridge Marriott) included a cake from Alexandria Pastry Shop or another bakery in our wedding package, so we went ahead and ordered the cake from here to save some money. We were thrilled with how it turned out -- it was BEAUTIFUL and tasted delicious. It was way better looking than I expected, and I am a tough critic! We ordered two flavors of cake -- Vanilla Bavarian Cream and Black and White Chocolate Mousse and both were excellent. The staff was totally professional and on the ball and coordinated the delivery with the Marriott so we didn't have to do a thing. This was probably the easiest, most stress-free aspect of our entire wedding.

The only thing I regret is that we cut it really early in the reception so people couldn't see how beautiful it was.

We were delighted with the two wedding cakes prepared and delivered by Alexandria Pastry Shop! We selected a raspberry and white chocolate mousse for one and a small sugar free cake for the other. Comments were all favorable. They decorated the cake so beautifully, as well! We were very happy with their products, both in esthetics and in taste!

I would recommend Alexandria Pastry for your wedding cake. Tom was very professional. The cake was decorated nicely, as we had expected. Our cake was simple with german chocolate and yellow cake; both were very tasty and moist.

The Alexandria Pastry Shop was an excellent choice for us! They work with the Crowne Plaza Hotel, which is where our reception was, which made it very convenient. We simply showed them a photo of the cake we wanted, and they recreated it! It was beautiful and deliciously devine!

Alexandria Pastry Shop was recommended to us by my now mother-in-law. They offer a million different options and can take even the vaguest descriptions to create a beautiful - and delicious - wedding cake. We waited later than we should have to order our wedding cake, but Alexandria Pastry Shop created a beautiful 5 tier cake for us that simply took my breath away!

Alexandria Pastry was recommended to us by my aunt after we had an odd and unimpressive tasting with another vendor we’d found on WeddingWire (After we selected what flavors we wanted to taste she told us she had to go microwave some samples because she keeps them frozen – who admits that their samples aren’t fresh!?!?!?)

We were very pleased when we met Tom from Alexandria Pastry. He brought out extra samples to our surprise because he thought we should really give another flavor that we hadn’t requested a chance, and boy am I glad he did! They were all sooo good, but his extra selection (fruit Bavarian) was my favorite. He also offered us tastings of fondant when we were reluctant because of negative comments we’d heard about fondant (we ended up going with fondant to allow for more detailed decorations). The cake looked just like how we’d discussed based off a photo we tweaked a bit. Taste was great just like during the tasting. Great value for a wonderful product.

Also, they have a café connected to the pastry shop and they have the most AMAZING BLT! Totally recommend trying one if you aren’t too full of cake after a tasting :-)

Tom at the Alexandria Pastry Shop was great. He guided us through a cake tasting, then provided a huge book of cakes as examples of what they could do. The cake we selected was chocolate cake with mocha buttercream. WOW. Was this cake fantastic or what! And our guests just loved it. I would definitely recommend the Pastry Shop for your wedding-- they have years of experience and do great work!

I love Alexandria Pastry Shop! I have been going there since I was a child, having grown up nearby. We always got the black and white chocolate mousse cake for family birthdays, so I had to have it for my wedding cake! It was a no brainer. We also had the fruit bavarian which was a nice contrast. The cake was beautiful and simple, exactly what we asked for.

Tom is also very nice -- our tasting really stood out from other cake tastings. He really made us feel special.

We didn't want to get a traditional wedding cake, so we bought 8 regular cakes from them. Each cake was beautiful and delicious! We cut a bavarian chocolate mousse cake. And got rave reviews for the passion fruit cake. Everyone loved the idea. And it cost much less than doing a traditional wedding cake.

Our cake was absolutely wonderful. It was exactly what we ordered and it was so delicious. We were very pleased with everything from the tasting to the presentation on the day of our wedding. Our guests raved about how good the cake was and we enjoyed left over cake for the days following our wedding.

The staff was professional and responsive and they called to confirm the details several times just to make sure everything was in order for the day of the wedding. The cake was delivered on time and the staff was very friendly.

Alexandria Pastry was one of the vendors listed in my package with my reception venue. The service during my consultation/tasting was excellent. They copied the design from a picture I brought in and upgraded me to sugar flowers for a reasonable fee.

The cake was beautiful and it was delicious.

I went an unorthodox route for my wedding cake: instead of getting one big wedding cake, I opted for a cake buffet! Two of my bridesmaids wanted to contribute 12" cakes, so I ordered another three from Alexandria Pastry Shop to fill out the cake table. Visiting the bakery was such a treat; Tom (the owner) quickly understood my "cake situation," and he offered me an insane abundance of sample cake slices—all of which were much orders of magnitude more delicious than the cakes I had tried in the Richmond area. I didn't have to place my cake order until two weeks before my wedding date, and this is where I ran into my only snafu: the woman taking my order got my name wrong over the phone, so when my bridesmaids came by to pick up the cakes on the day before the wedding, Tom said that there were no cakes waiting for us! After some back-and-forth, my bridesmaids realized that the cakes were listed under a different name, and the problem was solved. I would say that two of the pastry shop's three cakes turned out divinely for the wedding, but everyone was visibly disappointed by the German chocolate cake. I'm not sure why it tasted so stale when our original tasting was so mind-blowing, but something definitely went wrong in the baking or storing steps. Anyway, not a huge problem, as there were still four other cakes on offer at my wedding. I'd definitely recommend Tom and the rest of the Alexandria Pastry Shop crew for your wedding, but be extra careful when placing your order.

We went in for a tasting and one of the owners (Tom) walked us through several varieties of cake flavors that would be available in the summer.
We ordered a 4-tier cake with three different flavors, and the one we liked best we saved as the cake topper, although I don't think we will be able to freeze it for any time, it's getting eaten soon!
Tom and Daniella, the two primary contact points at the shop are incredibly professional and responsive to special requests. Our cake looked elegant and exactly as I showed them in my ideas for its design. But more importantly, it tasted phenomenal. It was delicate and light and there was just enough of the outer frositng.
I love this place and will be back for celebratory cakes in the future!

I got the wrong cake. It was beautiful, but wasn't the flavor I ordered, nor the one my family had been bragging about. I was going on my honeymoon straight after, and they could not deliver a cake to our house to go, and I live out of town, so I got nothing for my ruined cake except a spouse who couldn't even try the cake because of allergies. Total dissapointment, because at the tasting it was great.

Amazing, simply amazing. The cake and favors were done by Alexandria Pastry. The cake had many tiers, each tier had three layers of cake with a lemon & fresh raspberry mousse filling. Everyone raved about the cake saying it was the best they had ever had. The cake was decorated by our florist with cascading fresh flowers to match the green, lavender color scheme of the wedding. Absolutely gorgeous, but more importantly absolutely delicious. Cookies were given as favors - decorated & tied up beautifully with a bow and rings all by Alexandria Pastry. There was nothing we needed to do with the favors at all. They also looked and tasted super. Alexandria Pastry was so easy to work with. No hassles at all. They delivered everything right on time so that the florist could put the flowers on. And even in the almost 100 degree heat, the cake was perfect. We can not recommend them highly enough.

We contracted Alexandria Pastry Shop to bake our wedding cake. They were recommended to us by the company managing the cruise boat where our wedding reception took place.

My maid of honor and I met with the cake consultant. The first question asked by the consultant was: what did I not like in a cake? and I replied that I did not like chocolate cake. We went over their catalog discussed the different designs they offered, tasted different cake flavors and picked my favorites. Explained how we wanted the cake to be decorated specified the type of flowers to match the reception flower arrangements and style as well as color coordination.

Our wedding accent color was green, we wanted the top layer of the cake to be decorated with white and off green sugar lilies. The wedding consultant made a drawing/draft of our cake on the contract, I signed the contract and paid the extra fees for the extra details I wanted in the cake. The cake was extremely important to me.

I got a chocolate, cake without any sugar lilies, covered with white icing with some pink signs that looked like Asian letters (some guests asked me what that meant and I had and still have no idea!). It tasted nothing like the flavors I had requested.

I have called the shop left a message, sent an e-mail I just want to understand what happened it has been almost 10 days and so far they did not get back to me!

The tasting was wonderful. They had some of the best cakes I've ever tasted. We definitely shopped around and this place was the best price for the service. We decided to have tiramisu and lemon raspberry cake. The tiramisu was delicious but the lemon raspberry was not the same as the tasting. The lemon flavor was overpowering. The presentation of the cake was beautiful. We showed them a design of what we wanted and it came out perfect. Overall, I would recommend this place.

My great experience began with a phenomenal tasting! I loved the fresh raspberry butter crème, fruit bavarian, and the black and white chocolate mousse the best. It was hard to choose just one, so we chose all three! The cake was absolutely gorgeous! I chose it from one of their designs, but they made it more personal adding silver beading to the bottom of the layers and brushing over the cake with a silver sparkle dust. It was very faint over the ivory design, but just enough of a touch of sparkle to add to my winter wedding.
I can't wait to go back and get a fresh slice of cake for my anniversary!

We used the Alexandria Pastry Shop for our Wedding Cake. On the day of the wedding, the cake tasted wonderful but looked mediocre. It was definitely not as pretty as the sample one they had there. It actually looked sloppy. Another downfall was that the communication was kind of lacking when we called or emailed but everytime we went in there it was better. The people in charge of the weddings are not always there which made if kind of difficult if there were questions.

Overall, the cake tasted good but I booked them because of how great their work was and the cake just looked messy.

Our original cake vendor was a friend, and she told us within a month of the wedding that she would be unable to bake our cake. I was super worried about finding a new wedding cake on short notice- and Alexandria Pastry came to the rescue with flying colors! The tasting was amazing, they were very friendly and helpful, and their cakes were obviously the best choice as soon as we walked in the door. Best of all, the wedding cake specialist assured us that as soon as we paid, we wouldn't have to think about it again until we cut the cake at the wedding- and it was true! No worries from that moment on. They make professional-quality, beautiful cakes. And our own cake? Perfection! It looked just like we had envisioned it, they added our own ribbon as requested, and it tasted AMAZING. I highly recommend Alexandria Pastry, and we anticipate going back for many birthday cakes in future!

Tom was so helpful, and amazing to work with. I had a notion in my head that my wedding cake would be butter cream, however, Tom introduced me to some of their specialty cakes, and I fell in love with them! We had a three tier Cassis (black current) Mousse cake for our wedding reception. I don't like fondant, so this cake was perfect. The colors of the design were incredible, and the flavor is delcious!!! Our guests raved about the cake, it was so light and perfect after a heavy meal! SO DELCIOUS!!! Thanks Tom, we can't wait to get more from you in the future!

Went in for 3 tastings...all delicious cake! Went for cassis/bavarian creme and chocolate truffle. EVERYONE loved my cake! SOOOO GOOOOD! Excellent price and excellent quality.

I used Alexandria Pastry Shop for our wedding cake. The pastry shop had a contract with our hotel to provide the cake for us so we pretty much had no choice in the matter. My mom went with me to the cake tasting and it was awesome. We were served huge slices of cake and were able to choose from several different types. I brought in a picture of exactly what I wanted to cake to look like minus the colors. The colors were to be Brown and Blue as oppose to the picture which showed Brown and Pink.

We ordered the cake and 2 weeks prior to the wedding I dropped off the ribbon that was to go on each layer and they had the order down for a Brown and Pink cake. If I hadn't double checked we would have had the wrong cake on our wedding day.

Although I was pleased with the taste of the cake I was severely disappointed with the look of the cake. It looked nothing like the picture I gave them. Instead of making the cake tall like the picture they made the cake wide. I expected to walk into a tall cake taking up a good portion of the table and that was not what we got at all.

We really enjoyed working with Alexandria Pastry Shop. Their flavor choices were excellent, we had a tiramisu flavored wedding cake and a chocolate raspberry groom's cake. They even accomodated a second tasting after we realized our original groom's cake choice would be too heavy with the wedding menu. We initially dealt with Ana, but when Dani took over at the store she called us to confirm all of our details and was extremely professional. Their prices were reasonable and they offered excellent personalized attention, moreso than the other than the three other bakeries we met with. Our cake was beautiful and was delivered on time-- they worked with our location to handle the delivery logistics with little stress for us.

This is a bakery that needs to be featured on Food Network. Fantastic variety of flavors.

I was very disappointed with my cake, once I saw it at the reception. The lines were not clean, the flowers looked like they had been done in a hurry, and most of all my husband and I had specifically asked for an off center cake, they screwed it up and lined up everything.

Love, love, love, loved our wedding cake by Alexandria Pastry Shop. My husband and I went to several bakeries for wedding cake tasting and none of them is even close to Tom's cakes. His cakes are so unique and so tasty. When we went for our tasting, we ended up eating all three slices of the samples Tom gave us. We couldn't stop eating them and we are not even big cake people.
And the cake itself! It was exactly what I wanted. I was so happy when I saw the on my wedding day b/c they got the exactly colors I requested. And their service is exceptional. Both Tom and Ana are so friendly and you can just tell that they love making wedding cakes.
Everyone at our wedding raved about the cake. Everyone said that it was the best wedding cake they've every had. Now, THAT's a compliment.

Our cake was great. The color came out slightly darker than I wanted, but nobody knew it but me. Everyone loved it. The flavor was recommended by Mr. Lally, the owner, at the tasting, and he was absolutely right; it was delicious!

Tom at Alexandria Pastry Shop was amazing. When we went for our tasting, he was very patient with us when we not only had a strange flavor request (which he had specially made ahead of time!), but also when we wanted to try every type of cake possible. Also, our cake looked (and tasted) so much better on the day of than we even could have imagined!

I had read wonderful things about Alexandria Pastry and they were as wonderful as everything I had heard. When we went in for a cake tasting they actually brought out a sample that we had not requested because they thought it might be perfect for the type of wedding we were planning. It was perfect and that was the cake we ended up going with. I brought in a design from a magazine and they were able to copy the design. But, they also made some suggested revisions to the design that really added to the cake. The cake turned out to be very beautifully decorated and very tasty! I felt that they were very reasonably priced for what we received.

Exactly what I wanted for less than I could have gotten anywhere else! Everyone who worked with me from Alexandria Pastry was fantastic. I knew before I even got engaged that they were the obvious choice to make and decorate my wedding cake. I had 85 guests at my wedding, a 3 tier cake and a sheet cake that were 3 different flavors. First of all the cake was gorgeous and exactly as I had discussed and designed with Alexandria Pastry. Second, the responses that I heard from my guests were that they loved the cake so much that they all wanted to try each flavor and most did!!! Which is why I only ended up with the top tier and no other leftovers:) The cake was perfect and I would not have changed a thing.

I love Alexandria Pastry Shop!! They made cakes for an engagement party my parents threw a year ago and everyone loved them-- they even matched the frosting color to the exact font on our invitations!!

This past weekend they made my wedding cake and I couldn't be happier. Originally I was concerned because nothing I saw in the store was as big as the cake I wanted (for over 200 guests), but the cake that arrived at my wedding was EXACTLY what I dreamed of!!! It was five layers, with fresh flowers between each layer. They put my husband and my monogram on it and matched the lace on my wedding dress in piping. I just loved it-- it was a work of art I was sorry to cut.

The cake itself was delicious. I am a chocolate fanatic, so despite the fact that it is May I ordered chocolate truffle and it was delicious. Surprisingly for me, I liked the Fruit Bavarian even more than I liked the chocolate. When my husband and I cut the cake, we ate the customary bite and were supposed to go dance...I went back and ate a whole slice before I went anywhere. Delicious.

They were also very easy to work with-- they met with me for a long time and called again and again to check up on details and make sure I was happy with what they were doing. They also worked well with my wedding planner. My venue would have charged about $7.50 a slice and I thought their cake was dry, the Pastry Shop made it for $5.25 and it was just perfect.

We loved our cake. Alexandria Pastry Shop did an amazing job and we had so many great compliments from guests on the look and taste. They gave us the option of have different tiers with different flavors and the cake was affordable for the most part. The staff was friendly and helpful and allowed us to have a free tasting. We loved the different flavors and our cake turned out beautiful. We definitely recommend them!

Would not and WILL not recommend this vendor!! Not only were they snippy as the date crept closer, but they ruinned my cake! They delivered my wedding cake completely in shambles. After I phoned them to let them know that just delivered (and then ran off) a wedding cake that was A). not what was discussed but also B). that was literally falling apart, they brought a new cake. Though all was not ruined, we had a lovely "fill in" cake- it was not the cake that we agreed upon, and I should have never had to deal with the stress of a falling apart/delapotated cake!!
Again, I do not recommend this company.

Price was very affordable, however, I highly question their work ethic.

They made a wedding fantastic. They had the most pleasingly delicious food made, and I was completely happy with the service.

Our cake was delicious- we had a Pear Praline, Triple Chocolate and Black and White Mouse cake. They were all amazing-- I do not think there was any cake left- my mother had to steal someone elses cake to get the flavor she wanted. We gave them a photo of the design and they matched it perfectly.

The most important thing is that the cake tastes good, and this chocolate truffle cake was DELICIOUS! It was also very reasonably priced. They made me a little grooms cake as a surprise for my vanilla-loving husband, and that was yummy too.

The downside is the look of the cake did not turn out how I wanted it. It was vaguely like the design I requested (enough that I didn't really get upset about it at the reception) but disapointing to see it turn out differently. Also, it looked like they didn't go over the lines of frosting in the decorating to make them even, so that the colors looked like they were applied with a pen that was running out of ink or something.

Overall I was satisfied, but still underwhelmed.

As soon as I tasted the Bavarian fruit cake, I knew we had to have it. It was so light and yummy. Unfortunately, I never got more than a tiny bite of it at the reception:( But everyone else said it was great. Our design combined the look of two other designs they had previously done and it turned out exactly as I imagined it should. It was beautiful! Best of all, any time we want to eat some of our wedding cake, we can just order a small Bavarian fruit cake and savor every bite.

Absolutely fantastic!! The cake was out of this world! I had several guests comment on the cake, saying it was the best cake they had ever had! We had a 3-tiered bavarian cream cake layered with fruit and tiramisu lady fingers! I highly recommend them to anyone and everyone!

The wedding cake was fantastic. Many of our guests are still commenting on the chocolate truffle wedding cake that we had. They've said that was the best chocolate cake they've ever had. Everything was beautiful with the cake. I would recommend Alexandria Pastry Shop to others.

Excellent cake, fresh ingredients, many flavors to choose from. They did not charge us extra for fondant or cream fillings like many other shops.

When we went for our two tasting sessions, we met with Tom - he was fantastic! He had lots of great suggestions, and made sure that we really enjoyed the cake before we made our final decision.

However, when we went in to order the cake, then again to give them a new picture of a design, the woman we met with was very unfriendly. I think her name was Alpha. She acted like it was a HUGE inconvenience to meet with us, even though we had an appointment. She was also very rude about scheduling the time of the cake delivery - we said that there would be people in the reception room starting at 5 p.m. for the cocktail reception, so she insisted on scheduling the delivery for 4:30. That made us extremely nervous, since our ceremony was downstairs at 4:30 - we didn't want our guests to come up to the reception and see things still being delivered, and we wanted someone from the wedding party to be able to oversee the delivery. We ultimately had to lie and say that our reception time had changed to get her to agree to deliver it around 4:00. I understand that she was concerned about the icing melting, but we didn't feel like 30-60 minutes should make that much of a difference, if the quality was what they had promised.

Despite the problems with order, the cake itself was delicious, and our guests loved it. The design was exactly what we had requested, and once we finalized the delivery time, it did arrive when we expected it to.

We loved our tasting, and my fiance and I like different types of cake and at our tasting we were able to completely agree without even saying a word on the type of cake we wanted. We ordered a fruit bavarian cream, which was to die for. It was something classic yet had a much more delightful texture than regular buttercream etc...

When we cut it at our reception and took the first bites, the cake was awful. It tasted like plain old whipped cream because our cake had been frozen instead of fresh like our contracted stated.

It was not good. Our entire cake pretty much got thrown out because people only took a bite or two of it. We didn't even want a cake to begin with, we only did because we fell in love with the cake at the tasting (that we were doing for fun)....it eneded up being $600 dollars down the drain. And it was really small too.

Unless you want a frozen cake, I don't recommend them as your wedding cake provider.

The cake looked and tasted beautiful. There was one part of the design that they got a little wrong, (though of course, no one knew the difference.) The quality was fantastic.

The cake tasted AWESOME! I was so worried I wouldn't get a piece, and was so happy to have some and enough left over to have some the next day too :) They delivered the cake to the boat, and the set up looked great. My only complaint is that the brown icing they used wasn't as dark as I had hoped it would be, but that was my fault for not clarifying. The cake tasted fantastic and was very reasonably priced.

We were so happy with our cake from Alexandria Pastry! The cake was designed just as I'd dreamed. We got many compliments on how good the cake was. Tom and his staff were very helpful and courteous.

The Alexandria Pastry shop really helped our reception make an impression on our guests. From our scheduled tasting (they brought us in when the shop wasnt busy so we could work in a less busy atmosphere, to the final product they were really nice ot work with. We chosse two custom cakes, a bride's cake (a 3 teir of offset squares with vanilla sponge and bavarian cream covered in buttercream and fondant), and grooms cake (large round of tripple chocolate buttercream). Both cakes were great (both tasting and looking). The brides cake was bright white with deep hot pink icing which matched my colors perfectly. They made my husband's cake look like a hockey puck and put the logos of his college hockey teams on the cake in icing as well. He was so estatic about it. They really took the time to produce beautiful cakes, not like a cake factory type place where you get what they produce and have little say in the matter. We did not pay any more per slice than we would have at a lesser store, and certainly didnt pay the astronomical prices other tony bakeries in the area are charging. We received many compliments about the cakes from our guests. When they were brough in the room they was a collective "oooo". What else could you ask for!

Excellent! The cake was delicious, and the decor on the cake was fabulous! The one thing is that they were a little late to the reception, so we actually have pictures being taken by our photographer of the cake being put together. But all and all it was EXCELLENT! I highly recommend this bakery.

We ordered both a wedding cake and a groom's cake and both were done to our specifications. Our consultation was completely professional and fun! And the people were very easy to work with. Delivery to our reception site went off without a hitch and both cakes were delicious (even one year later on our anniversay!)

Yum! My sister's wedding cake, my wedding cake and my mother's wedding cake have all come from the Alexandria Pastry Cafe and they are the only three actually delicious wedding cakes I've had...and our guests have all echoed this sentiment. The price is also really reasonable.

The only limitation is in the designs. APC does some nice fondant work and we all had really cute, creative cakes, but APC cannot do some of the more funky designs I've seen such as a tilted cake or a cake that's upside down etc.

The staff at APC is very friendly and helpful.

We met with Tom when the shop was nice and quiet and received his full attention. He helped us select a cake design that matched our color scheme and that was very classic and elegant which was the mood we had selected for the entire wedding. He then provided us with a generous sampling of various flavors and we selected 3 unique and delicious flavors that were impossible to find at ANY OTHER bakery shop in the entire metro area. He used fresh ingredients and fresh fruit which was really unusual compared to our previous tastings. We froze the top layer and defrosted it a year later for our anniversary and it still tasted as fabulous as it did on our wedding day! I am now a regular customer and love all of their pastries and desserts. High end quality for really reasonable rates. We paid $4.25 a slice for a gorgeous fondant and gold drugle button 3 tier cake (plus a sheet cake) to feed a total of 115 people .

I tell all my couples that if they want a cake that not only looks beautiful but will also be eaten, they need to go to Alexandria Pastry. I've seen guests go back for seconds when it's a cake done by Tom Lally's team. And if there's some left over after all the guests are served, I've enjoyed every bite.
