We just recently had our wedding there. The wedding location is amazingly beautiful, the wedding coordinator was nice, and it's one of the least expensive places to marry in the O.C. The coordinator answered all of my emails within hours of sending them. My problem is with their catering. The food took 2 extra hours to come out then what was planned. We even had to go back there two or three times to ask them to bring out the food which is absolutely ridiculous. We had done a food tasting months before and the food was amazing. We ended up ordering filet mignon and mahi mahi. Well, that's not what we got at the wedding. The meat was like eating a rubber band and about 95% of my guests complained that their mahi mahi was raw in the center. We also spent a few hundred extra dollars to rent a projector which we also had to remind them twice to bring out and set up for us. You should never had to remind someone to do their jobs! They also threw away our handmade cake toppers that were very expensive and special to us and now we have nothing to show for it. The gift I bought for my husband as our wedding present was stolen from his room. He forgot a jacket and card in the room when we left for pictures and everything was accounted for and returned to us from the hotel staff except his brand new present. The wedding coordinator on the day was not the one we had been working with for months and she seemed extremely stressed out and frustrated with us. We seemed rushed through everything/ pictures only to get back and had to wait for our food for hours. Overall it wasn't super inexpensive when all is said and done and for the money we expected more. The food was a total fail, our cake toppers were thrown out, and things were stolen from rooms we used. We wrote multiple emails to the coordinator and manager with our complaints and there was no response. This place is absolutely unprofessional and I would NEVER recommend having a wedding there...EVER!!
After reading past reviews on project wedding about Aliso Creek Inn, I want it to be noted that this venue and staff should be commended for their outstanding service. I am writing as the mother of a bride and want to emphasize not only the location, serenity, and view of Aliso Creek Inn as First Class, so was their staff! First, Nicole Whittam was extremely professional, caring and added a personal touch. She answered every question and replied immediately by email. Nicole worked into the late evening and after hours to get the job done. Nicole is truly a gem! She assured me that everything was going to be wonderful and she was right! I felt that Nicole was only working on my daughter's wedding when indeed she was working on 14 other events the same month. She takes her profession seriously and follows through every step of the way. My daughter's wedding was picture perfect and was beyond our expectations. Nicole's staff could not have been more attentive and our guests all commented how wonderful they were. We were able to transform the dining area into a gorgeous romantic reception venue- fireplaces lit in both the bar/lounge area and the main dining room. We had stars above the head table, a dance floor, a large raised stage for the band/orchestra and a view to die for. We were able to seat 18 at the head table and never thought it would work with 10 round tables. Guests were allowed to walk from the tables to the bar and the seated patio area and separate booths if they preferred, making this a very quaint and social event. Unlike most weddings people were comfortable to walk about and socialize and not just sit at their tables. The ambiance was remarkable with lit golden "uplights" on the beams along with the dazzling fireplaces. We had the ceremony outside overlooking the gorgeous canyon (deer in the background)! The Chuppah was arranged with Royal Albert exquisite floral arrangements - all was breathtaking. The chairs were set in a herringbone arrangement where guests could see all angles of the ceremony and the views of the hills and greens. The lodging was extraordinary with 1 and 2 bedroom suites (condos) with attached patios living room and kitchenettes. Ours overlooked the golf course. The bridal dressing area was a comped 2 bedroom 2 bath for the day for the bridal party to ready themselves. This made it extremely comfortable and relaxing. I would like to compliment the chef as well for the mouth watering food and the bartenders for being so attentive. The Captain was a pleasure and would definitely consider this venue for another event. All was beyond our expectations and my daughter was able to have the wedding of her dreams!Thank you Aliso Creek Inn!
My husband and I were very excited when we found Aliso Creek Inn. It was well priced and their event coordinator, Nicole, seemed wonderful. Well...... we were dead wrong. All that was promised was so messed up our wedding turned out to be a disaster. Nicole didn't even email us our contract til the night before it was due, not giving us enough time to look it over. There were multiple mistakes and it took her 3 times (the day it was due) to get it right. She had promised us it was okay to use candles, though it was not. This was a problem in that our centerpieces were floating candles. We also requested a golf cart for my handicaped aunt and mother AND reminded her 5 times about it AND it was in the contract. Her boss didn't know anything about it and almost told us no.
After her making multiple mistakes (too many to mention) and her being extremly rude, she was sent home by her boss for the day. I'm hoping she get fired! To top it off, one of the staff members helping our DJ dropped his equipment, breaking it and causing him to have to use a backup Ipod, not programed with any of our songs. Nothing we wanted played worked except our wedding song and the father/daughter dance. We are now looking into sueing the site, along with our DJ. Nicole was very unprofessional and doesn't know what she is doing!
I have mixed feelings on Aliso Creek. The actual wedding ceremony and reception part with their coordinator Nicole was great. The only problems we had were with the actual hotel reservations itself so I will review that part separately.
We were looking for an outdoor site that was very relaxed and peaceful and Aliso Creek was amazing. The second my (now husband) and I got out of the car the scenery took our breath away. It was really like being in a hawaiian canyon in the middle of Orange County. Beautiful. We loved that we could have the ceremony and reception at the same site and that friends and family could then stay there and not have to drive home after the wedding. They even set up a Sunday morning brunch for us all the next day which was great! The staff was nice, and Nicole Whittam the coordinator was very helpful, except that she was out of town on vacation the 2 weeks before the wedding. it would be helpful to have a day-of coordinator at the site to help set-up etc because Nicole is very busy with her staff, but with the help of some friends we pulled it off without an outside coordinator. The food was actually GREAT, they cater on site with Canyon Lodge restaurant everyone loved the food. And for weeks afterward people could not stop commenting on how unique and gorgeous the setting was and the fact that they never even knew if was there! We looked around at tons of outdoor ceremony/reception sites, and this is the best outdoor location for the money in Orange County!
The only down side ( as I mentioned earlier) was that the hotel staff somehow managed to royally mess up a good deal of the reservations. So when people went to check in they were sent to the wrong room ( ie. the in-laws were accidentally told to go to our bridal suite) or they ended up losing the reservations or having them for the wrong days and some guests had to share rooms. So if you are having an event here make sure to call a week ahead and confirm rooms and check-in/out dates. It worked out in the end but was really confusing for a while.
