Amor bakery...you are the sunshine of my cake life :)

After agonizing over cake selections and visiting several other bakeries in the area we decided to check out Amor bakery. From glancing at the cakes in the store window and the cakes that they had in their display catalogue I was initially not very impressed, however once we met with Tommy, the owner, all our doubts melted away. Tommy was funny, easy to talk to, listened to all of our wants and needs and assured us that whatever style we chose, whether it be from his catalogue or from a picture we find online, he would be able to deliver.

We had called ahead requesting to try to cake flavors, sponge cake with fresh mangos and strawberries, and vanilla cake with custard. Not only were both selections delicious but Tommy made them, on the spot, right when we sat down. Talk about fresh!!

The cake was delivered on time and in great shape and everone was very happy with the cake. Not only that but the cake order, for a 3 tier, whipped cream with fresh mangos and strawberry sponge cake, with ribbon and designs, including delivery, only came out to $250!!!!!

HOW CAN YOU BEAT THAT PRICE FOR AWESOME CAKE???

We got our wedding cake at Amor Bakery few weeks ago. I couldn't wait long to write this review for them.

Here are the specs of our cake:
3 tier square white fondant cake with chocolate floral piping design
There are a lot of flavor to choose from: chocolate, tiramisu, mango moose, valet, napolean, strawberry you name it.
We got Tiramisu, mango moose and velvet flavors for 125 guests. The total cost is ONLY $250!! (which included delivery charge from rosemead to Malibu!!)

How good is the cake?
My fiance (now my husband) and I went for the cake tasting. We had one slice of each flavor. While I was talking to the owner, my husband was able to finish eating all the pieces in less than a minute!! That tells you how good they taste.
Tiramisu is our favorite. We set it as the bottom layer and all the guests love it!

Tommy (the owner) is SUPER nice. All I did was providing him few pictures, and told him the design that I wanted and he was able to generate it!

I went there so far advance to reserve it worrying that they require a lot of time for booking. But it turns out I was only required to pay the full amount few days before the wedding and it's all set.

One little tip is we have a LOT of cake left over (almost half a cake). It probably because our guests were stuffed up from the wedding buffet. If I have to order again, I would probably go a little under the actual guest count.

Amor Bakery is awesome and I would highly recommend it to any other brides/groom-to-be!

Quality of Service: My wife emailed pictures of the cake that she wanted to the owner and they delivered the cake as promised that exceeded our expectations. My wife wanted the cake to be 3 tiers and the bakery met that requirement without any problems. I was never concerned that the bakery would accidentally not deliver on that part. I haven't heard of stories where the customer says 3 tiers, but they receive a 2 tier cake. That would be pretty bad if they made that kind of mix up. Tommy Lee is the owner and he is incredibly nice man. We went into the bakery for our initial consultation and he was always patient and friendly as he worked with us in getting all our requirements for the cake. We also got to sample a few of the cake flavors with their buttercream. Their tiramisu cake is really good. It cost a little more, but it's tastes good as I inhaled that in a few bites.

Responsiveness: Not too much to comment on here because we only needed one consultation and we emailed pictures of the cake to Tommy. I suppose my wife did hear back from Tommy that he received the pictures and that he would be able to create the cake. They also followed up with us on the week of the wedding to pay out our remaining balance.

Professionalism: No issues here. It's reflective of how long this bakery has been in business for when you just tell him briefly what you want, send him pictures of the cake you want them to design, and you get what you ask for. Tommy listened and he delivered what we wanted. It was that simple.

Cost: We got a 3 tier cake that served well more than 130 people and we didn't even have that many people at the cake. We actually had a lot leftover that we gave to some of our bridal party. We kept the top part tier which was a velvet cake. I actually finished the top tier, but I wish we got the top tier to be tiramisu instead. The cost was very good which included delivery from San Gabriel, CA all the way to the house in Malibu, CA. That's pretty far and out of the way for them, but they got the cake there. I'm pretty sure on time because I didn't even know when the cake was delivered since I was away taking pictures.

Flexibility: They delivered to Malibu, CA and charged us the same price they deliver to other more local locations. Enough said. They are centrally located in what I call the New Chinatown (San Gabriel, Alhambra, Monterey Park) area. Their a Chiense bakery so I figure most of the wedding couples that hire them to make the cake probably have their weddings at a local hotel in the area so they're very used to delivering to locations near them. However, they had no issue delivering to Malibu, CA which was really out of the way for them.

Overall: Good tasting cake, friendly service, and delivered on their commitment.
