Anna was amazing to work with and our cake turned out even better than what we envisioned... not to mention it tasted fantastic! We received nothing but compliments from our guests about the look and taste. When we originally met with Anna to "design" the cake she asked if we wanted to take home and keep the topper at the end of the night, we said yes but she does offer another option where she will make an anniversary cake for you.. we moved to another city before the wedding and I forgot to see if we could change that up. We wound up eating some of our topper the night after the wedding when we returned to the hotel our family was staying at. They loved getting to have another slice!

My wedding cake was wonderful!! Everything from our private tasting with so much selection and a goody bag to take home to the final product was great!!! Anna gave us some great ideas for design. We kept it simple and clean with a pop of color. Her cake the day of the wedding was just as good as when we did the tasting. Pricing was extremely reasonable. FYI however; if you need to get in touch with Anna it is all through email. I could never reach anyone at the phone number listed. Give yourself a few days to correspond and do not wait until the last minute.

Anna Cakes made such an amazingly delicious and beautiful cake for my wedding! Visually, my cake turned out exactly how I had imagined it. My cake not only looked great but it also tasted phenomenal - even better than at the tasting! I even had a few guests tell me that they had two peices! PURE PERFECTION from the moment we saw our wedding cake we knew we made the right decision in selecting Anna Cakes. It was a true replica to the photo we provided Anna with, from the towers, the layers, the monogram, the flowers, etc. The coconut flavor was very apparent and the flavors to die for. Anna was very sweet when we met with her and after she was on top of every email I sent her. She responded almost instantly. And her cake was REALLY the BEST cake my husband or I have ever had literally! And my hubby is a cake experite. The cake we had left over from the wedding was about 20 big slices and he ate 4 to 5 slices each day after our wedding till it was gone! We will be ordering cakes from Anna on a regular basisa. any other cake will taste terrible now that we have been spoiled with Anna's cakes. The best cakes on the planet! And you won't find anything close as far as the beauty of her cakes either in her price range. Most fondaute cake start at 8$ a slice and go up. Her's was $4.50 a slice. I will be a life time customer of Anna Cakes. I could not have dreamed up a better cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anna Cakes helped make our dream wedding cake come true. Originally we wanted to find cake toppers with some obscure characters that both me and my wife adore, but were unable to find someone who could even custom make the cake topper. When we met with Anna to discuss our wedding cake, we had almost given up on the idea, but she asked us what our dream would be, and after we had shared it with her, she told us she could make them out of fondant. What Anna put together for us on our special day exceeded our expectations. Our wedding day was a month ago, and people are still talking about the amazing cake we had, which not only tasted heavenly, but defined us perfectly. I paid for my cake in full 3-4 months before my wedding. I was excited about Anna because she does excellent work. Unfortunately her business skills and customer service leave much to be desired. She rushed through our original 30-minute consult 4 mos before because she had another client waiting. Nonetheless, my mother, coordinator, and I were happy with the samples we'd seen and felt we had reached a price that was reasonable. We had nothing in writing but she said she would email a paypal invoice. Since mine was a destination wedding and my groom was unable to attend, she assured me she would be happy to meet with my groom and I to finalize the design. I communicated with her a few times 90 to 60 days before to finalize payment, request design ideas, and to make arrangements for a cake stand but was totally unprepared for what I would experience after the second consult 2-weeks before the wedding. To make a long story short, she completely disregarded the original agreement and began to design a new more expensive cake unbeknownst to us (We had nothing writing)...and proceeded to charge us more! She simply kept telling us that the design changes the price...without explaining what the original agreement included and what we had actually paid for already. When we asked for a contract or a copy of the original agreement. She told us to just take a copy with a cellphone because she didn't have a fax or copy machine and that's how she would get it to us via text msg! Unfortunately, we didn't because have a suitable phone. The nightmare continued up until the morning my destination wedding weekend began (you will soon see how hectic that time can be). She sent me a 1000+ word email 48 hrs before the wedding. The morning I was rushing around preparing for the rehearsal dinner, rehearsal, hotel, bachelorette party, and picking up friends and relatives from the airport, I also had to contend with last minute demands and refusals from a vendor I had settled with originally months before. Our goal had been to finalize the cake and addt'l cost two weeks before. We even made a trip to her home to drop of trimming (I didn't need) and finalize things 5 days before to no avail. I was completely flawed. I felt powerless. Although our FREE top layer was delicious, the cake that was served to our guests was awful and was wasted. Nothing like what we had at the tasting. She told me she had 5 other cakes to make that weekend, I wonder if it had been old or frozen…The cake design, although lovely, was nothing like what we asked for despite paying $150 extra. She created an artificial cake, per our request, with REAL fondant and icing…needless to say I will not have it forever as agreed. Since it was not set/dry on the day and no cake boxes were provided the layers shifted during transport, fondant was ruined, and the REAL icing melted. Essentially, I have nothing to show for the almost $700 I paid. My husband and I sent an email citing our disappointment and requesting a partial refund 2 days after returning from our honeymoon. She sent us a brief email and tried to blame the poor quality of her cake on the other vendors saying she would get back to us when she had time. When she replied after a month, she insulted the beauty of my wedding day and the integrity of my guests. She also have leveled heavy insults against my culture, professionalism, faith, and my motives. Anna's arrogance was unprecedented. She did not accept a shred of responsibility for the stress, heartache, confusion, and unnecessary expense she caused us. Again, Anna's cakes are beautiful but her customer service and business savvy are lacking. If you want a beautiful cake Anna can deliver but get everything finalized in your consult. Also request a written contract with your agreement.

:( omgosh! I don't want to seem argumentative by replying to this review. Ok, I'm going to...for starters, this bride was 2 hours late to her own wedding. eeks! Hopefully that kind of puts this in perspective. Unfortunately, there are so many inaccuracies in this review, and misrepresentations, I am not sure where to begin. Confusingly, this bride began changing her mind about her design, and continued to make changes (as were her mother and friend who was acting as coordinator) right up to the day before the wedding. I really did try my best to accomadate her in every way. :( I lost sleep over it, I was trying so hard. I spent 2 hours writing her an email going over all of her options, and offering ways to cut her costs, if she wanted. She could never fully decide on her cake, so I was never able to put it in writing. :( She decided at the last minute she wanted a bigger, more intricate design, which I was happy to do, but I let her know every step of the way, that these added changes would be more expensive. She was adding custom colors, and intricate damask fondant work, and all kinds of little extras, but was expecting not to have to pay for those extras for some reason. Anyone who has experienced a tasting with me knows that I always try to find ways to save a bride money. I am def not an "upseller" at all. LOL I actually hate that. :) I assume after rushing through her vows and fitting the entire reception into 1 hour, she is now looking back with regret, naturally, and trying to receive compensation. She had sheet cake and cupcakes from another vendor there, (which I explained was against my policy, due to quality control), and from what I was told, her guests weren't even served my sheet cake. :( The cake they were complaining about was from the other company! Ahh! It's like my worst nightmare for there to be a mix up like that. :( This is why we have the no mixing of cake vendors policy in place. She chose sheet cakes, and a "dummy" display cake from us, to save money, which is made of real icing and styrofoam cake underneath. Only the top tier was real, for cutting. Although more sturdy than a real cake, it is still made of icing and other delicate decorations. After the wedding, her friend did not drive with it carefully, and left it in a hot car, which naturally melted it. :( I am not sure why she would want to keep a partially dis-assembled fake wedding cake, but nonetheless, if she did, I would think her friend would've taken better care to preserve it. I did leave boxes for it's transport, and explained it's fragile nature. I even let her use my $300.00 cake stand for free, and her coordinator friend left it at the venue. Thankfully, I knew the other vendors, and was able to track it down. The truth is, I worked so long and hard on her cake, and I was so nervous about it, that it turned out to be one of the best cakes I have ever done. :) She was raving about it at first, as were all of her guests. Unfortunately, later when she tried to nit pick to receive a refund, I was tired of being bullied by this bride, and politely told her we found no error on our part that would warrant a refund. I also mentioned the fact that Christian to Christian, I was saddened by the way she had treated me and her fellow vendors. :( I would never insult someone's culture. I have a mixed family, and value all cultures -- I really don't know what she means by that. In speaking with my fellow vendors on this wedding, everyone had a negative experience with her. I have definitely learned from this. Sometimes there are people in life that just cannot be pleased, no matter how hard we try. But, I will always keep trying! :) Happy planning!

Amazing and scrumptous!! Exceeded our expectations!! Anna was delightful to work with! The hardest part was deciding which of the tasty flavors to put into our cake. We ended up with three and all our guests were blown away by the flavor, moist taste, and beautiful appearance!!!

But after they got to eat it(even my mom who is diabetic HAD to try it!) everyone said the cake was EXCELLENT. Anna Hightower, you are amazing!!! Anna was super easy going to work with helped a lot with ideas for a cake stand. I gave her swatches for colors, and a little doodle-skecth, and the actual cake was a spot-on masterpiece. Our cake tasting experience was so good- the difficulty came when we had to decide which yummy flavors to put together, but Anna even helped wih combo suggestions there too. OMG!!! Anna can bake!!!! Not only was my cake more delicious then I expected but even being full after dinner my guests wanted more. My husband is adamant that he wants to save the top tier for our anniversary because of tradition but I am not sure I can keep my hands off it that long. She is AMAZING and her cakes and cupcakes are phenomenal. Getting her for your wedding will be like putting the icing on the cake, it just won't be complete without her.

Anna is an artist and is a true professional at what she does. When we met with Anna we knew immediately she was the one! Not only from the tasting (which was amazing we couldn't stop eating all those cupcakes and icings lol) But she just has such an incredible personality!! Anna was even kinda enough to make our cake and book us on HER birthday! I thought that was really sweet bc for someone iike Anna who is SUPER booked and busy all the time to not even take that one day off and instead said "yes, i will make your wedding cake" really shows the kind of person she really is. Her work is everything to her and she will do anything to make sure you are happy and that your cake looks incredible! Come wedding day our cake was a focal point up on a stage with a pin spot light on it and it looked SO AMAZING! It was a simple design, but Anna made it look beautiful. And it tasted even better! Every layer was different...I got to try the marble and red velvet and it was just divine! Like it had just been baked. We were so pleased and got so many compliment on how great the cake tasted. Anna provided the cake for my daughter's wedding a few weeks ago. From the moment we met Anna, we knew that she was the one. Not only are her cakes the best I have ever tasted (I don't usually eat the wedding cake), but she is so much fun to work with. At the tasting, her true artistry was evident. I was given Anna's name through the florist we used. I had looked at her cakes online and they were amazing! I booked Anna the day I met with her! She had an amazing personality and was so sweet! She had so many different options for flavors and every single one of them was amazing! Not only do her cakes look amazing but they taste amazing! She allowed me to do different flavors for each tier and did not charge me extra. She sketched the cake based on what I told her I wanted and I was in love. On top of that she gave me a discount, even better! Overall, the cake was very reasonable and cheaper than other places I contacted.I met with Anna about a year or more before the wedding so I had a lot of time to look at more and more of her cakes. I probably changed my mind about 3 times on the design and she never got tired of me! She always answered my e-mails super fast and I never had any problem getting in touch with her. On the day of the wedding she gave me the most beautiful cake! Even more amazing than I could have imagined! All the guests commented on how delicious her cake was! You can't go wrong with Anna, she's the best!

One of the easiest decisions we made during the wedding process was hiring Anna. Everyone commented that it was the best wedding cake they ever had. Some of our guests sheepishly admitted to eating at least 2 slices! Her attention to detail is also commendable since many people said that the "fondant" was so good that they ate it. The funny thing is that we had buttercream frosting since we hate fondant. Her work is so precise that they couldn't even tell it was buttercream :) We are customers for life!

We were told by a person that 15 min with Anna and testing some of her sweet delights is all that you needed to make a decision on the spot. That person was correct. The amount of love that was put into our cake was astonishing. Its is one thing to see it drawn on paper. It is an entirely different expirience tasting the labor of love that Anna has made for us on our wedding day. And, it is always a plus that the cake maker is about the sweetest most wonderful person you will ever meet. The only person that can make a University of Miami themed cake rock and taste oh so good. I have told Anna this before and I will tell her again. The mouth watering taste of her cakes just make me want to bear all of her children!

Our wedding cake had a large crack in the top layer. My groom and I were rushed to cut the cake before it started leaning to one side even more. Our wedding was indoors with A/C so there's really no excuse for this. The wedding cake of my dreams didn't involve cracks or lopsidedness.

I must agree, I was so, so sad at what happened with this cake. Unfortunately there were a number of problems that led to it's demise. It happened to be an uncommonly hot weekend, so extra precautions were taken to keep the cake cool overnight, as well as during transport. Regrettably, the inside of the venue was about 15 degrees warmer than our delivery van, and surprisingly humid. I was told later, this is common for this particular venue, which is a very large, 2-story open space, surrounded by windows. The heat and humidity eventually began to cause an air bubbling reaction underneath the fondant. In addition, the cake table wasn't level, which challenged the stability of the cake, once it was assembled. I expressed my concerns to their coordinator that day, who responded that it was just my overly-critical "cake decorator's eye". :-/ The final straw was the large floral topper arranged by the couple's florist, which proved heavier than the already-challenged cake could endure. This is one major reason why my contract explains, at length, my policy on personally arranging loose flowers on all of my cakes. I prefer to have the florist leave loose flowers that I can use to decorate, rather than pre-assemble a cake topper, that may not fit. On the bright side, this was the 1st time anything like this has ever happened, but sadly, the combination of circumstances took their toll on the 4 tier work of art. After spending approx. 15 hours on the cake, no one was more disappointed than I was. :( Since this occurred, we now contact the venues prior to delivery to ensure the inside temp. is at minimum 70*. All tables must be leveled, and all floral toppers must not be previously arranged, because no bride should have to worry about her Anna Cake! ;-)

Anna has great attention for detail and she really takes pride in what she does.Compared to the prompt response I received from all my other vendors, I was quite disappointed in her lack of a timely response to emails and phone calls. I would have to email and/or call twice within a four day period before she would even respond once. Even though I had a difficult time in communicating with her, her cake and cupcakes are TO DIE FOR! I am totally biased and can't eat anything other than her stuff. =)

Anna did our cake and it was perfect. My husband and I hate fondant, but we wanted a design that could only be achieved with the use of it. Anna assured us that she would make the cake with the fondant in such a way that we could have the look we want without sacrificing taste and she did. I can not say enough about Anna Cakes! We chose Anna for our 10/17/2009 wedding and the cake was so wonderful! The only complaint we had and I am sure all had was,,when the cake was gone!!! Most wedding cakes we tasted were good, but they were heavy-tasting. Anna's cakes are melt-in-your-mouth light. I'm not a big buttercream fan, but her buttercream is fantastic!!! Everyone at the wedding loved her cake!!!

Anna is a very outgoing, bubbly person. She makes her cakes fresh with made-from-scratch buttercream icings and real fruit fillings. Eric is not a fan of fruit so when he liked the taste of it with fruit filling then you know it was good. Anna gave us a great deal and understood our design ideas. We loved working with her and our cake was absolutely amazing and yummy!

True Story, When I walked into my reception call I screamed when I saw my cake. I LOVED IT! Anna did a great job on our cake! It was absolutely beautiful and tasted amazing! The only complaints I have are that all the returned pieces had to be back 2 days after our wedding. There wasn't a whole lot of flexibity in getting the pieces back to her, and my mother ended up losing her $50 deposit. I think she could extend a little more time to return pieces, and sometimes she didn't get back in touch with us right away when we had questions, or concerns. But in the end it all turned out great!

Unfortunately, when items are not returned by the Tuesday following an event, they have to be replaced for the weddings for the coming weekend. In this event, the deposit is lost, because of the time/cost of replacing the items. This is explained on my web site, in person, at the tasting, and also in bold red letters on the contract. :-) I try to be as flexible as possible in all circumstances, and am glad that otherwise they were satisfied! :-D
Anna creates wonderful cakes! I have a bit of a sweet tooth so it was a lot of fun to go in for the tasting. We had plenty of options and everything was delicious. Anna delivered the cake exactly as promised and it look perfect.

The cake was smaller than I had hoped for and not the right shade. Didn't really look like the picture provided. But it tastes awesome. We got the red velvet w/ cream cheese, chocolate on chocolate and vanilla w/ strawberry filling. I was annoyed because we got way too much cake... and had 300 slices left over!

Anna did an amazing job on our wedding cake. We were on a budget and she worked with us to help us stay within it. Our cake tasted amazing and was more moist than any other wedding cake I have had. She typically makes it the night before or the day of depending on the time of the event. Because she does that the cake is much more fresh than cakes from oyher places that make the cakes on Monday and then decorate them throughout the week. I would highly recommend her. She is exceptionally flexible and always upbeat!

I had a 60th birthday party for my husband, with a golf theme. Anna made the most BEAUTIFUL, very large, extremely real looking golf ball cake sitting on top of a putting green, and perfectly proportioned. It was amazing to see. Enough for 60 people. And then when we served it, it was DELICIOUS. The golf ball was white cake, and she was able to get all the little dimples exactly the way a golf ball looks, and the putting green was chocolat, with green icing that looked just like grass. Everyone was amazed. And Anna was such fun to work with. I have recommended her to all my friends.
