If I had to describe my experience with Anne in one word it would be 'Perfect'. Not only was she flexible, but she was a delight to interact with. Once we saw the images for the engagement shoot it took us months to figure out which hi-res image we wanted for free, and when we saw the wedding photos we had a terrible time narrowing our favorites from 350 to 80 for the album. Needless to say, in the words of my husband, having too many favorites is a good problem to have, and it says a lot about the photographer.

Hiring Anne to be our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions my husband and I made. We interviewed about a dozen wedding photographers in the DC, VA, and MD area and none was as flexible, honest, organized and responsive as Anne was. In short, she was everything a bride could ever hope for when looking for a professional photographer.

We didn't have a wedding planner as I was trying to cut costs and I'm glad I didn't hire one because Anne was so organized and efficient that she basically moved the timing of events along. The one thing that I really like about her is that she responds quickly with any email/questions I may have. Her pricing was also better than a lot of other professional wedding photographers in the area (considering that she's been a pro at this, we were actually surprised that she didn't charge more).

After our wedding, we had a hard time choosing our photos for our slideshow and it took me a while to get back to her. She was patient with me throughout the process and advised me well on how I should go about choosing my photos. I love our DVD slideshow from Anne more than the video we got from our videographer. Anne Lord's skill as a photographer is superb and her professionalism was top notch. When I first saw examples of her work, I knew that we wanted to book her for our fall wedding. Anne works with a 2nd photographer and between the two of them, there are over 1000 wonderful photos from our recent Oct 2012 wedding. Anne's basic package includes an engagement session (using her property in Reston, VA as a backdrop) which helped my husband and I become more comfortable in front of the camera. I'm excited to work with Anne to create a wedding album of our dreams. I would highly recommend Anne Lord Photography to any one in the greater Washington, DC area.

My experience working with Anne Lord Photography has been everything I expected out of professional photographers. For our wedding day, our photographers were Jeremy and James who provided the best service and went above and beyond to ensure that everything was perfect. They showed up early to the Chapel, were prepared with extra equipment, worked well with my wedding guests, and were extremely professional during my ceremony and throughout the evening. I had several comments from my guests that Jeremy and James were great photographers and they worked very well with each other. Prior to our wedding day, we had an engagement session with Jeremy which gave us a chance to talk about logistics for the day and expectations. It really helps to make the day-of go smoothly. Additionally, I had a bridal portrait session with Anne in her studio and thoroughly enjoyed the chance to have a trial-run in my dress. I would highly recommend Anne's services to those around me and will certainly work with her in the future when I'm interested in more photo sessions!

Anne was so wonderful and professional to work with before, during and after our wedding ceremony and reception. We were impressed with the time she spent with us during our initial meeting, as well as the engagement photo session. I was an out of state bride and found out about Anne Lord Photography from the church I was having my wedding at. They had been impressed by her and was the only recommendation they gave me. I was not disappointed. When we were briefly in town a couple of months before, she shot an engagement session. And then for the wedding day, she was great. The pictures are wonderful and you can tell she knows what she is doing and has lots of experience on what to shoot, how to shoot it and how to make things look better. I could not be more pleased by the pictures she took and know my husband and our families and friends will enjoy these for years to come.

To start off, my husband does not like his picture taken. When we did our engagement shoot we got to practice and he, though still not excited about it, was the most comfortable in front of the camera that I've ever seen... and Anne coached him gently so he felt like he was "doing a good job."
On our big day, we had a potential bump in the road-- a heavy storm (tornado was sighted!) that blocked one of her assistants and at one point the hotel had a power outage... but despite the dark weather and time crunch once the assistant arrived they were still able get all of the GORGEOUS photos we wanted before the ceremony and we still had time to spare before walking down the aisle.
Anne was also able to corral easily distracted family members (grown up and children!) and elegantly take charge when needed to get great photos and keep the timeline moving.

We love all of the pictures. Both my husband and I enjoyed taking photos with Anne and her assistant(s) and aside from our individual portraits and formal shots, we don't remember seeing them around the room at all! They fit right in with the guests and they do their best to document everyone at the party. I told Anne they were like photography ninjas!
(and she also stayed late with her assistnt to make up the time lost in the beginning, even though it was completely out of their control and they still got everything done as planned!)

Finally, Anne hands out wallet size photos of your engagement photos at the reception so the guests have instructions on how to view the photos. And they are up FAST!!! definitely faster than she promised.

You can't go wrong with Anne. The many, many 5-star reviews on this website are a testament to the uniformly positive experiences brides have had with her. Perhaps what still could use highlighting, though, is just how good a value Anne's services is. With Anne, you get top-notch photography, gorgeous prints, and at a cost that is much more reasonable than many if not most photographers in the DC area. Though my now-husband may be one of the most photo-phobic people she ever worked with, Anne managed to make him as comfortable in front of the camera as I've ever seen. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Anne and her assistant did a wonderful job. We met Anne in advance and did our engagement photos with her and were very pleased. We also booked a photo booth through Anne. That was a huge hit with our guests and we are still receiving compliments. Anne and her assistant took well over 2000 photos during the wedding and had them available for viewing shortly after the wedding. She handed out wallet size photos from our engagement photos to our guests during the reception with the website and password so guests can view our wedding photos. I loved this. It alleviates the pressure of having everyone asking you about pictures. Another wonderful quality about Anne is her kindness and personality. While she is very professional and is strict to keeping you on your timeline (you will appreciate this, trust me)she truly is a fantastic photographer who captures wonderful shots. We are beyond pleased with our photos. One additional note, Anne offers a guest book which she uses photos from your engagement session. It was a unique idea that we loved and a great way to have photos in a book with great memories from our special day

Anne Lord's talent is amazing, we are so happy with our photographs from our June 23, 2012 wedding! Our wedding was done in a historic the historic church in Leesburg and her photos captured this perfectly with no details left out! Our reception at the Oatlands Plantation was the perfect backdrop for both candid and spontanious shots. The quality and professionalism, attention to detail and responsiveness were so impressive. The photos are the most important part of the wedding since the day goes by so fast. I let my husband pick the photographer since he enjoys photography himself and had more of an idea what to look for. We could not be more happy with our pictures. That is saying a lot because I rarely like pictures of myself. Anne is a pleasure to work with and I can't give her enough stars for responsiveness (we usually got an email back within minutes of sending them).

I met Anne through my friend that also used her for her wedding and Anne has been my favorite vendor to work with. I was looking for someone that was a professional photographer full time, she lived up to every expection! She offers a free engagement photo shoot with the contract which was great to use for Save the Dates. One of her best selling features to me was if in the case of rain on the wedding day, she would do a make up session at her house after the wedding. My wedding was in April, so there is a good chance of rain. Thankfully, I didn't need to do a make up session, but knowing that I would get the pictures either way was a huge reflief for me. She is always quick to respond to emails and is easy to work with your schedule. I can't say enough good things about her, she is definitely the best photogrpaher around!

Having viewed a number of photographer's websites I was particularly pleased to come across the work of Anne Lord. A quality of understated elegance and intimacy pervades her images and reflected the style I hoped would be seen in my photos as well. Meeting Anne prior to my wedding, gave me the confidence that not only professionally, but personally she would enhance our wedding day with her talent and personality, which she did. Anne is a lovely person who put both my husband and me at ease, as she produced a wonderful documentation of our wedding day to be treasured the rest of our lives.

Anne Lord's photography is beautiful. What drew us to her was her natural ability to capture the moments of our wedding day, as we often found other photographers were great at the portraits but lacked in actually catching the emotions in the events of the day. On the actual wedding day, we worked with both Anne and her assistant Brian, which allowed us to get a broader range of angles in our photos than just one photographer would have. Anne posted our photos within days of our wedding (friends and family had already seen them by the time we returned from our honeymoon). Anne was also extremely flexible and generous with us when we asked to change our wedding album completely at the last minute, even though it was divergent from our original contract. We are so excited by our final album! Anne is easy to work with and extremely pleasant, which made things go smoothly on our wedding day, for our engagement photo sessions and handling all our questions in between. She is extremely responsive to emails and phone calls. We highly recommend her, as she is well worth the money and we couldn't be happier with our photos!

Anne was definitely our favorite vendor! As other reviewers noted, she is SUPER responsive! She always got back to our emails very quickly, and of course it was great to be able to see all our proofs online in less than a week! She is a top notch professional, and definitely gives her clients the sense that she cares about them and their vision of their wedding. She was very flexible but also provided her honest advice from years of experience which we valued. I did not want someone to just say 'Yes' to all my requests if it was not a good idea.

She is truly an artist and her photos speak for themselves. I felt that her style allowed her to capture traditional elegance from some more modern angles/poses. We definitely had the standard posed family/bridal party shots, but she really captured the emotions of the day in some of the more candid photos. She was even able to get pictures of my parents smiling (they NEVER smile in photos)!

Anne and her assistant Jeremy were wonderful! She's a photographer by trade, so this isn't something she just does on the weekends for an extra buck. She really knows what she's doing, and you can tell in the quality of the pictures. I've shown them to several people, who have all commented how beautiful the photos came out. She had really interesting ideas for shots, and I love all of the 'Details' photos. The photos were online seriously two days later, which is even earlier than originally promised. We also got the photobooth through her, and if you weren't considering getting one before, GET ONE. It was without a doubt the highlight of the whole night. EVERYONE loved it, and we have loads of fantastic pictures in the guest book now (they print out in duplicate, and one copy goes in your guest book for people to sign). That is the #1 thing people talked to me about after the wedding: how much fun the photobooth was. Plus, compared to other photographers in the area, she was a fantastic value. I couldn't believe what we paid for what we got. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Anne and her team to anyone. You won't be disappointed!

Planning my wedding from out of town/my mom's assistance, Anne could not have been more kind, understanding, and flexible. We had to change our appointment times, information about 100 times, and Anne could not have been any kinder.

She immediately put my (now) husband and I at ease the moment we met her at her gallery, and it was a great working relationship ever since.

Anne did a phenomenal job photographing our wedding. She was also incredibly accommodating and I really felt like she was looking out for us and taking care of us as her clients. A lot of vendors change after you sign a contract, if anything Anne only became more generous and happy to go the extra mile as time went on. The quality of our pictures is great - there are so many great shots it's hard to choose the best ones for an album! We didn't have time to do an engagement shoot, usually part of Anne's package, and doing that is the one thing that may have made our shots better by making us more comfortable from the get-go with individual portraits, but even without that we eventually warmed up and once the day had begun everything was natural anyhow. Anne is very low-impact, she doesn't interfere with your celebration or ceremony but manages to get the shots. She doesn't really take charge in a bossy way, which is mostly good, but if you have a large family or a large bridal party you might want to appoint someone to move the bodies and really help make sure there are good poses with the families and various other folks, particularly if you're squeezing in shots between the ceremony and the reception (maybe that's good to do regardless of your photographer, but I didn't think of it). Anne's prices are much better than others in the area, and she gives you much more for what you pay. I would hire her again in a heartbeat and would recommend her to any of my friends or family without hesitation. If she's free on your wedding date, book her!

We met with a few photographers before deciding and loved Anne and Jeremy - they are very professional, kind, and their work is beautiful. Anne was already booked for our date, but she said she had one other lead photographer, Jeremy. We met with Jeremy and knew we were going to book him. He was fantastic, really funny, and you can't tell the difference between Anne's photos versus Jeremy's. We had a really good time with him and were so glad he did our wedding. Jeremy also had an assistant with him, James, who was great too. We hardly noticed Jeremy or James the entire evening, but they took sooo many great pictures and really did tell the story of the day. They really covered all aspects of the wedding and I couldn't have asked for better photos. They are true professionals and their quality is unmatched and prices are fair. You should definitely book with Anne or Jeremy - you won't be disappointed.

We had met Anne at one of the Bridal shows. There were probably a total of 6 other photographers at this show. She had the best portfolio by far compared to the other photographers. Other vendors had what I considered bad quality in their prints; some seem to like to use the “journalistic” or edgy type of photos that are popular. (Really people, it’s a wedding not the 2011 Egyptian Revolution)
Anne’s photo’s have a nice balance of traditional wedding along with nice artful composition that made use of the textures and scenery available at the venues. She also has had a ton of experience shooting weddings in the DC metro area, and knows the best way to shoot most of the popular wedding venues. Just ask her!
My wife and I had preferences on the photos we wanted taken and what we liked and Anne listened and remembered our requests and instructions. During the session her and her assistant were non-obtrusive and got great photos. After the ceremony during the family photos, Anne quickly factored in my parents special needs (they are in their mid-eighties and handicapped) and she kept everything on schedule. If you are a person that wants to have the best wedding photos without having to worry about great quality, then Anne Lord is the best choice.

The engagement pictures were done very early and after we saw those, my husband and I knew we made the right choice. As for the wedding day, she was able to capture every moment. I got so many complements from my friends and family before and after the wedding about how she conducted herself during the wedding (people wishing they had a more proactive photographer for their wedding) and after the wedding I had my pictures almost immediately when other people I knew who had gotten married the same day still have not seen all of their photos more than a month later!

My husband and I used Lord Henry's photobooth service for our wedding and it was the biggest hit! From day one, contracting and communication were seamless. On the big day, set-up was perfect and our guests LOVED the photobooth. It was great entertainment and really complemented the joyous occasion. We used the props and guestbook option and now have a very memorable guestbook with wonderful photos that really highlight our family and friend's personality. Anne Lord and her team really made this easy and couldn't have been more courteous and helpful. We highly recommend it!

It is hard to put into words how wonderful Anne is. She was recommended to us by a friend, and when we met her, we knew right away that she was the right photographer for us. Upon completing the contract you get the rights to your photos which, from what I understand, does not happen with all photographers. She took beautiful photos for our engagement session, and there are so many amazing pictures from our wedding day that it has been really hard to choose the ones we want in our album. Anne Lord is wonderful. The photos from the wedding look amazing and I couldn't be happier. She is so professional and so nice. I didn't want a full engagement session, so we opted for an engagement portrait and she added an extra hour to our time. She's very flexible and will create a package that meets your needs. Anne was amazing to work with. I met Anne at a bridal expo over 2 years ago and knew she was the photographer for us. Her prices are compoarable but she is worth it. She includes an engagement shoot in her package and give wallets out from the engagement shoot at the wedding. The engagement shoot was a lot of fun and a great way to get used to having formal pictures done if you are like me and haven't experience something like that since high school photos. She is very professional and friendly. She lets you have suggestions and is amazingly fast when it comes to posting pictures online. Our engagement shoot photos were posted within 12 hours! and our wedding pictures were up in 3 days!! If you order your album when you sign the contract you get some great discounts and the albums are beautiful. We are currently picking the pictures we would like to include in our album and we cant wait to have an ablum with Anne's beautiful photos. Also, if you order an album you get the digital right to your photos after you get the album which was important to us. One word of advice: Anne gives you a sheet to fill out all of the pictures you want during the reception (ex: a picture with you and your uncle)... take this seriously and include every picture you want because you will be overwhelmed and enjoying your reception and may forget some of the pictures you want. I have a couple friends I didn't get pictures with that I really wish I had writen down. Thank you Anne for your capturing our wedding with your amazing pictures.

Anne was great to work with. I met her at a bridal show and as soon as I met her and saw some of her portfolio I knew she was the one. She was quick to respond. We had her and her assistant Jeremy taking pictures for most of the afternoon and evening, and in both cases the photos came out fantastically. Anne was also very easy to work with and was able to organize all the necessary photos despite the best efforts of our meandering families. We would highly recommend Anne and Jeremy to anyone in the DC metro area.

Anne has been absolutely wonderful to work with! We had our engagement pictures, a bridal portrait session and our wedding day photos with her. The gardens and lake surrounding her home made a beautiful backdrop for our engagement photos as well the bridal portraits. I listened to the advice of every couple I knew and alotted the highest percentage of my budget for a photographer and then found the best photographer I could. This, of course, was Anne. About Anne - she is a perfectionist. I noticed this from our first meeting and knew that if we worked with her I would not have to worry about getting all of the photos we needed. She is an artist - Anne has the ability to capture real moments on film and then present them in a way that makes you feel like you are reliving the day. As part of our package, we also ordered a slide show. The slide show was presented at the end of the evening put the best pictures from the day to music. This slide show brought my neice to tears of happiness for the first time in her life and also had the same effect on the rest of our guests. She is flexible - Anne accomodated a move in date and venue without missing a beat. She knows what she is doing - there were times during the engagement photo session and portraits that Anne asked us to do things to create a picture or moment. Initially I felt that this was too manufactured - but at the end of the day the things she asked us to do produced some of our favorite photos. Listen to Anne and you will be happy you did. Finally, Anne cares. Because she is so professional, this quality does not strike you at first, but as you work with her and talk to her it will become evident that she considers each wedding she photographs as an honor and opportunity to capture history and she wants to do so authentically.

Anne is an amazing photographer and we are very pleased with how everything turned out. We got married in September 2009 and I just never got around to writing a review. Anne went above and beyond for our wedding for two different reasons. The first is that I called Anne about a month before we got married and asked her if we could take more engagement photos because I had lost a lot of weight and did not want the old pictures displayed at the wedding. Anne was more than willing and we did another engagement shoot a week before the wedding at no extra cost and the pics tured out great. The other and most important example of how great Anne is, is that she offered to take more pictures of us after the wedding because it rained on our wedding day and we were not able to take all the pics we wanted. We had an outdoor wedding at a beautiful venue (Oatlands Plantation) but we did not get to utilize all of the gorgeous scenery because of the rain. A month after we got married we went back and got dressed up again (so much fun) and took two hours worth of pictures (about 200 extra) of just the two of us. Again this was no extra charge and we would have never been able to take that many pictures on the day of the wedding even if it was sunny!
We are very thankful to Anne for this and our album turned out great :)

I just received my wedding album from my wedding in September. It is so beautiful and artistic! Much more than anything I could have imagined! Anne captured each moment of the day so wonderfully!

We hired Anne as the photographer for our wedding in August 2009. We couldn't be happier with her professional serivce and the quality of our photos. She takes a unique approach to photography. She captures many of the small spontaneous, moments that proved to make great pictures, so we got a mixture of very beautiful spontaneous shots along with great formal photos. She adds a lot of special touches to make the day special. Along with her coverage of the wedding (a second photographer accompanies Anne to ensure all the special moments are captured) an engagement portrait session was also included in the price. At the reception, she handed out wallets of some of the engagement shots to our guests, which they all really liked. She also put together a slideshow DVD of special shots of our wedding set to our First Dance song. Within a few days of the wedding, all of the proofs were online for us to view. When we received our album (after agonizing for months over picking the best photos because there were so many GREAT ones) we couldn't of been more pleased! I can't say enough about Anne! She took me under her wing as an assistant years ago and taught me so much! It was the only choice in my book to have her as my photographer. Even though we got blasted with a downpour right when we tried to do our portraits, Anne and her team were still able to dart through the rain from cover to cover and get some amazing shots. They even worked with my husband and my (him a designer and me an photographer)'s creative input with professionalism and incorporated some of our ideas for shots.

Anne shot our wedding on August 31, 2008. We met with at least four photographers, and decided that Anne was most in line with our wish for how the wedding should she be shot. She has a ton of experience and is very much dedicated to photography. She considers it an art as well as a profession, and while she should satisfy anyone who wants a traditionally-shot wedding, she adds a certain artistic element to her work, which we appreciated in reviewing the end result. I suspect that she is very selective about her assistants, and she will bring a second shooter with her to the wedding in order to cover both the bride and the groom. She did a spectacular job with our engagement photos, and we thought it was a great value to include the engagement photo session in the price of the wedding package. Further, after the wedding, she produces a montage DVD set to whatever music you choose, a nice little four or five-minute slide show for showing to your family and friends. I should note that it was important to us that we ultimately end up with the "digital negatives" of the shots, i.e., the electronically saved digital images. It's my understanding that we receive those upon ordering an album, which we are in the process of doing. If you're shopping for a photographer, be sure to find out if you can obtain the digital negatives. Finally (and this is no small matter), it's important that you trust and like your photographer, because he or she will be an integral part of your wedding day, and Anne is very nice and pleasant to work with. We would use her again for future photography needs.

Anne Lord was truly a pleasure to work with. I knew of a few friends who had used Anne for their weddings and I liked her work, and knowing that they were pleased made her my top choice even though I researched a few other photographers.

Anne devoted a lot of time to explaining the process to us, showing her previous work and the products she can create. Anne herself wasn't available on our wedding day, but she had another photographer available. For our engagement portrait session (included with package) she brought this photographer out so that we could meet him, and so he could become familiar with our personalities and how we photograph. We felt comfortable with him right away, and this carried through to the day of our wedding. In the weeks before out wedding date, Anne had us fill out a timeline and "must have" picture list so that the photographers could plan the day. Dean and his assistant, Kris, were extremely accomodating and flowed right along with the hectic day. I didn't notice them at all during the ceremony, and barely during the reception (which is a good thing!). Anne has continued working with us toward our photo albums, and we're really looking forward to the final product!

Anne's quality of service from the day we met her for an interview while I was planning the wedding, until now (the posting of the pictures) has been exceptional. Both her and her assistant are a fine team and have produced a variety of quality images from multiple angles, and have included all guests/wedding parties as per my request. I cannot wait to choose my images for the proof and final albums! Her responsiveness is also fantastic, always available via email and phone and has been able to answer all questions, concerns! She and her assistant are extremely professional, and kept us all in line, as we had a rather large wedding party...which can be difficult when taking both church and city pictures. She was flexible and allowed me multiple sites for photos as per the contract...and again I have fantastic shots! Cannot wait to add some special effects!

We felt comfortable with Anne from the moment we met her. We had a hectic beginning prior to the outdoor ceremony due to rain, but even in our frenzied state, she managed to work around the frenzy and got all the important pictures. She delivers exactly what she says and is very precise in her product description. She offers quite a bit in her packages so when comparing prices be sure to note all the "extras" Anne provides. We are especially fond of the DVD slide show set to music (part of her package). We just received our album and have received many compliments on it. Exceptional - Anne has a very artistic eye, the compositions of her photographs are stunning; she has attention to detail. We could not believe how many excellent photos there were - and there were a LOT! Anne did an amazing job of directing family into formal poses in the limited amount of time we had at the church. Our favorite photos; however, are those that were taken with our wedding party and by ourselves. With Anne as your photographer, you don't have to worry that you are going to have a bunch of the same pictures. We were very impressed with the variety of pictures we have to choose from for our album.

We did an engagement session with her which was helpful in getting to know each other. Our wedding day with Anne was fabulous and all the pictures came out wonderful.
