Asticou Inn

My husband and I got married at the Asticou this past July, and I have nothing but positive things to say about the setting and the staff at the Asticou. We had an outdoor ceremony, and we are still getting comments from guests that the location could not have been more beautiful. The staff, particularly Tom Weverstead, the wedding coordinator at the Asticou, were incredibly helpful and made sure that every detail was covered beautifully and seamlessly. Tom was so easy to work with, and really took care to make sure that our wedding was everything we wanted it to be. The staff were all incredibly gracious with our guests. Friends and family who stayed there had a great time. We even rented out the Cranberry Inn for an afterparty, which worked perfectly. The great wraparound porch was a perfect setting. We are so thrilled with our choice of wedding venue! I highly recommend it to anyone who is considering a Maine wedding or looking for a classic, charming place to stay up in Acadia.

We had our wedding at the Asticou this past summer and could not have asked for a more beautiful day. Tom at the Asticou worked us every step of the way. The food was fantastic and the ceremony venue was to die for (we were married on the lower field right in front of the harbor). The capable staff was there to cater to our needs and our guest absolutely loved the ambiance of Mount Desert Island without the chaos of downtown Bar Harbor during high season. (Thank goodness there wasn't a Carnival cruise in town)

All too often we heard "...this is the best wedding I have ever been to..." Of course, you hope to think that's because you're marrying the love of your life and you've invited all of your closest friends, so they're going to say these types of things, but it came from so many varied guests (some I was meeting for the first time) that we are convinced that the old-school ambiance of the Asticou and the wonderful food and drink had a great lot to do with it.

For food we went with some great appetizers for the cocktail hour (potstickers, spanikopita, fig and goat crostini, lamb lollipops) and then four choices for dinner (3 + veg option), Boiled Lobster, Filet of Beef with Cabernet reduction, Chicken stuffed with Gouda and Leeks and a pasta dish.

We even rented the house across the street, the Cranberry Lodge, to host our afterparty, which was a fantastic move - I definitely recommend it if you aren't renting out the whole Inn. We were able to let the parents go to bed, and the Inn provided plates/cups/utensils for our munchies and coolers for the beer/wine we picked up. Just a great way to finish off the weekend.

Highly recommended... and this is coming from a husband venturing onto a wedding website to review... should speak for itself :-)

I chose the Asticou Inn as I was looking for a Maine venue which would serve as a wonderful destination spot for guests from the South & Northeast. Th Asticou Inn is one of my favorite wedding venues in Maine. It's well run, has a beautiful deck overlooking the ocean and serves fantastic food!! I always look forward to working with Tom at the Asticou, he's a hands on manager who makes things happen!!
