When should I place my custom jewelry order?
Custom jewelry orders should be made 2-3 months before the wedding and/or special event date. This will allow time for a consultation, design, ordering of materials and creation of the jewelry for you or for gifting.

Do you accept custom requests?
Most styles are available in other colors or gemstones and we make many custom pieces. Whether you would like to see a piece we have created with a particular stone, or you want to re-purpose your Grandmother’s string of pearls for your wedding.

How should I store my jewelry?
Keep your jewelry in a clean, dry place such as a fabric-lined jewelry box or wrapped in a soft piece of cloth. To avoid scratches, each piece of jewelry should be stored separately and bracelets should always be stored flat. Keep jewelry away from direct exposure to sunlight and air.

Chains: Can tangle up easily, especially when you place them next to other jewelry with parts that can catch onto them. Try storing chain pieces in individual bags, boxes or by hanging.

Silver: Try storing your pieces in sealed containers, a pouch, plastic bag or jewelry box. Sterling silver can lose its shine over time.

Gemstones: All gemstones in our pieces are genuine. Please be careful not to drop the pieces, as they might break on impact with hard surfaces. Do not store the gems pieces together with diamonds, as diamonds with scratch other gems. Special attention should be paid to gemstone jewelry. Avoid extreme temperature changes and contact with household chemicals.

Pearls: Because pearls can be easily scratched or damaged, keep your pearls separated from other items or jewelry. They are best kept in a soft cloth, a soft pouch, or a soft lined jewelry box. Do not keep your pearls in an airtight or excessively dry environment. They need moisture in order to prevent cracking. If they need to be kept in a safety deposit box or a vault, keep a damp (not wet) cloth nearby. Re-dampen as needed, but be careful not to have too much moisture. This can cause mildew.

What is the best way to clean my jewelry?
Over time, silver, and to a lesser extent, gold, will tarnish with exposure to air, chemicals, and oils from your skin. Pieces are best cleaned using a soft cotton cloth or felt with mild, non-abrasive soap and warm water. Be very careful not to dislodge any stones or wires. Rinse pieces thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before storing. For best results, clean pieces periodically and handle with care! Vinegar, ammonia, chlorine bleach, and even inks will also damage the pearl’s beautiful nacre.

Silver: To keep your silver sparkling, clean with silver dip cleaner, or any jewelry dipping cleaner. Pat dry. You can also use a polish cloth to shine the surface! Exposure to air, dust and other elements, particularly those containing sulfur, may cause sterling silver to tarnish more rapidly. There are a number of non-abrasive silver polishes on the market specifically designed to remove tarnish. Always read the warning label and take care when using polishes on jewelry containing gemstones. Pearl jewelry requires special care, do not use jewelry cleaner with pearls (see care instructions for Pearls).

Gold: If you feel the piece has lost its shine, simply wash with water and mild soap and pat dry. You can also use a regular jewelry dipping cleaner.

Gemstones: Never expose stones to hot solutions, abrasive cleaners or ultrasonic cleaners. With the exception of pearls, which require special care, gemstones may be cleaned with a non-abrasive jewelry cleaner.

Pearls: After each use, gently wipe your pearls with a warm, damp cloth before putting them away. Make sure not to use anything abrasive to wipe off the pearl surface. Periodically, gently wash your pearls in warm, soapy water using a mild soap (not a detergent) to remove any harmful buildup. After washing, gently rinse your pearls in clean water and then wrap them in a thin damp (not wet) cotton towel. Once towel is dry, your pearls will be dry too. If your pearls are particularly dirty, you can also wipe them with acetone polish remover. Unlike ammonia and vinegar, acetone will not damage your pearls. Over time pearls do change in appearance. However, if these instructions are followed, b.mookié pearls should be enjoyed for generations.

*Note-Do not use tissue paper or paper towel for cleaning, as their fibers can result in scratching. Be cautious if using commerical cleaners, as many can cause damage to certain semi-precious stones.
