Ballyowen Golf Club

We had a wonderful wedding at Ballyowen. If you are interested in a slightly rustic wedding but can't handle the DIY aspect (we couldn't since we were planning from Seattle), and want a great value, Ballyowen is your place! Ballyowen offers an outdoor ceremony site, followed by a cocktail hour in the clubhouse. The clubhouse has 3 walls of windows AND a wrap around porch which is great for indoor-outdoor options. The reception is in the pavilion, which again has 3 walls of windows overlooking the golf course and an outdoor patio that guests can hang out on (by a fire pit!). We got the silver package which keeps you in under $100/head and includes plenty of food! We maxed out the capacity and had a band and it wasn't too crowded. The apps were superb, dinner was very good, and everyone raved about the cake (which I managed to only get to take 2 bites of). They were very accommodating of all our special requests. Julie is WONDERFUL to work with (she supervises the Ballyowen planner). Our initial Ballyowen planner was Nicole, but when she left, we worked with Peggy, who doesn't quite have a personality that's ideal for wedding planning with. However, she did a fine job and I had no major concerns. However, Julie made sure everything was perfect. Our Maitre'd was amazing (I had no idea how key it was to have him running the show!). My only complaint about the wedding here was that we chose to have our (large number of) out of town guests stay at the Appalachian. However, we ended up booking like 80 rooms, and no one told us that the Appalachian is mostly timeshares/condos, and very few of the rooms are hotel rooms. Thus half our guests ended up at Minerals or Black Creek, which was fine, but we had an after party at the Red tail Lodge (next to the Appalachian), and the shuttles weren't available that late for safe transportation.

Beautiful location. People were wonderful to work with and only 1 event at a time, so they are focused on you. Made my day perfect.
