Rick was amazing! The common response I have heard from guests is that the music was great-- he really knew how to read the crowd and keep people coming back to the dance floor. He respectfully declined to play songs that were on the "do not play" list and worked in all of our requests seamlessly. Went above and beyond in the MC duties and even the coordinating of other vendors... I'd recommend him over and over again!

I've been to a handful of weddings in the past couple years and I have not experienced a better DJ than Rick. Rick's work ethic, professionalism, and equipment made our wedding unforgettable to our guests. We were a little hesitant to spend the money for a "5-star" DJ, but looking back on our wedding day, that was the best money we spent and if we had to do it all over we would chose Rick again in a heartbeat! Rick also did very well at adjusting his equipment and plans on the fly. Our caterer plugged in a space heater into the same circuit as Rick's equipment, which tripped a breaker and shut off power to half of Rick's equipment...before anyone even noticed, Rick had already talked with the caterer about a solution and had everything up and running in no time. This guy is good and he will not disappoint you. We absolutely recommend him!

Rick did an outstanding job as our DJ. From the moment we met him, based on the reviews we read, we chose not to look any further for a DJ (he was the first one we met with too!). We emailed Rick an outline of the music we wanted, the wedding party and told him we didn't want it to be "traditional" and nothing about our wedding was. However, were stumped trying find music for the prosessional and bride's entrance and asked him to surprise us. On the day of the rehearsal he asked us if we had come up with something, then we told him we were blank slates. After one meeting and email conversations, Rick had listened intently to what we wanted and was able to come up with two amazing songs that depicted our style and what we wanted to convey to our guests. Timeless, elegant and vintage....He nailed it with his attention to detail and quick thinking. I couldn't be a happier bride!

Dj Rick, Oh my, Joe and I have no idea where to start! You did such an amazing job at our wedding. We loved everything you have done for us. He made it so possible for us and even sent us the song that sounded oh so dam good! Thanks to DJ Rick, he made our wedding one of the most fun, lively, energetic, and memorable wedding anyone has ever attended. We did not want the night to end because we all were having such a wonderful time, SO when the last song was done, the crowd started chanting "DJ RICK, DJ RICK, DJ RICK, DJ RICK" and he played another song. When he did, I looked around and all the guests were so ecstatic, screaming and jumping up and down. You have definitely made such a difference in our wedding. Rick did an amazing job at our wedding! Professional and helpful through out the entire night. Even when the groom wanted to change the mother son dance song the day of. He just popped the new song right in and did it. He was a big help in guiding the events through out the entire night. Great range in music and great equipment to boost. AMAZING!! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding and Bass Is Loaded! made it all possible. Our ceremony and reception took place in the same area but there were several indoor and outdoor areas I was worried needed extra attention from the DJ that another DJ may not have been able to do. But Rick was up to the challenge! He was very assuring that he was more than capable and he did not lie! Our ceremony had a lot of music that I found on YouTube and he did great with finding the exact tracks that we wanted. Same with the reception. He was so helpful (and willing to help!) and definitely relieved me of a lot of worry and stress. He did not over suggest songs or try to take over anything. I did my thing while he did his and I didn't worry about it at all. He listened to what we wanted and helped where he could. He was very flexible too! We told him first we only needed him for the reception, then we needed him earlier, then the ceremony too and he was more than happy to be there whenever we needed him. It was perfect. Rick portrays exceptional professionalism. With his experience in his field he is able to offer advise and help cover all areas, often forgotten, by couples during their wedding. With Rick's help our wedding flowed extremely smoothly, from start to finish. He makes each transition form beginning to end seamless. My wife and I agree that we did not have to worry about anything with respect to the flow of the wedding, form the rehearsal to the ceremony and the reception. He is able to make announcements to cue the crowd for each transition; when to eat & drink, to take your seat, bride and groom entrance, the toast, cake cutting, and dancing! Too many couples become far too stressed during their wedding (worrying about the details) to enjoy the experience. I can say that because of rick the both of us were able to completely enjoy OUR evening! I am glad to say that rick was worth every penny!

You pulled off our theme, which was classy but still fun.. and the work you did on the bittersweet symphony song was so perfect, the timing and everything.. Rick does a great job at listening to what you want for the mood or feel of the wedding and he delivers. The set up was fantastic and I know all our guest enjoyed the TV's and the music. I have to say that finding a DJ was something that I took a lot of time to research. I felt that the DJ was a huge part of my guests experience and I didn't want just anyone to do it. I spent hours on Rick's website reading and watching all his videos, nothing is a surprise with Rick, what you see is what you get. He was professional and available from the very beginning. I have a unique taste in music and had specific requests for what I did and did not want, he completely respected my input. However, I will warn those of you who want to make a big long list of songs and force the DJ to stick to it and not play anything else, Rick has been doing this long enough that he knows what gets people on the dance floor so I encourage you to trust him and give him some creative leeway. He brought my quests to tears at the right moments and got them all dancing and partying at the right moment. He is by far the best DJ I have ever encountered and my guests are still telling me what an amazing job he did. Do yourself a favor and put aside enough money in your budget to hire Rick, he is worth EVERY penny and then some, he was by far the best vendor I worked with, I only hope we can hire him for another wedding in the future! Rick was absolutely fantastic! He was extremely professional and really fun to work with. We felt like Rick listened very well to what we wanted and DIDN'T want in terms of music and the overall vibe at our wedding. From cocktail hour through dinner and into the dance party he was exactly the DJ and MC we were hoping for! No matter what it is you're looking for in a DJ, Rick will listen to your wants and needs and make it happen. For my wife and me it was semi stressful picking vendors. It was so nice when one of our friends would highly recommend a vendor for us and it made those picks so much easier. Rick was not one of the vendors who was recommended by a friend(we found him on the internet), but he will definitely be a vendor we will HIGHLY recommend to anyone we know getting married, who are looking for a great DJ.

It wasn't just my wife and me that thought Rick did a great job. More friends than we can count came up to us towards the end of the wedding or even since the wedding and have commented on how awesome the music was. SO, that being said, we guarantee you won't be disappointed if you choose Rick to be the DJ for your wedding.

I recommend Rick enough. From the get go he was absolutely amazing! He would always respond to my emails quickly, sometimes within a minute of me sending them. I work graveyard shift, and he would respond to my emails sometimes at 6:00 am! He always answered his phones, and was always available to talk.
When it came to meeting in person. From the minute I met him I new I had made a great choice. He was always early to our meetings. He worked around my schedule and was extremely flexible and accomodating. I felt like he took a real interest in our wedding, and really wanted to make it as amazing as it could be. He helped us figure out time lines, plan songs and diffent elements of our wedding. He wanted to make sure we got everything we wanted out of him and our wedding. He found every song that we wanted! (even some silly video game song for our main entrance, an obsolete movie song, a song we didn't even know the title too, and the instrumental version, not the karaoke version, of our first dance song, for the girls to walk down the aisle to. He was so funny and charming and sweet and professional, and really made us confident our wedding music was going to be perfect. When we first sat down, he asked us what we wanted people to say about our wedding if they were asked to describe it later and we gave about 8 descriptions.
And guess what? It was. At the ceremony he timed all of the music perfectly. When the little mics started to cut out because of the rain, he took an oppurtunity to steathfully sneak a hand mic up to us undetected. There were no lulls in the music, everything was executed expertly. He showed up looking adorable in a nice outfit with a cute and classy tie (he asked us how dressy our wedding was going to be, and he hit the nail on the head with his outfit)
At the reception, he played every song we wanted him too and some songs we didn't even know we wanted until they played. He read the crowd and got everyone dancing. We have some amazing pictures of silly dancing because of how well he raised the energy level and brought everybody to the floor (and I was afraid people wouldn't dance!) He made sure that he got everyone's attention for the traditional stuff like cutting the cake and bouquet toss (very important as I have been at some weddings where I missed these things because they were not announced well enough) We wanted an open mic during our speeches, and he made sure he didn't miss anyone that wanted to say something. He kept the wedding flowing, as we did have a time constraint, and did not miss a thing. He kept coming up and making sure everything was going perfectly, and if there was anything he could do to help make things even better. I'm sure he did some behind the scenes work we never even saw, because somehow all of the vendors knew when do do everything, and the only people that really knew the time line was us and Rick!
I cannot recommend Rick enough! He is worth every penny if not more! I wish I had it in the budget to pay him more! I have been to my fair share of weddings and I have never seen a DJ flawlessly pull together a wedding like Rick did. We are so happy we chose him, and you will definently not be disappointed if you choose him too. He did more than we could ask a DJ to do, and seemed like he was happy to do it, because we really felt the whole time like his passion was making sure people have amazing rockin' weddings! All of my bridesmaids are not married, and they wanted his contact info so they could hire him for their weddings somedays.
I knew it was aiming high to want a perfect wedding, but that is just what it was, perfect, and part of that is because of Rick!

I cannot say enough about how wonderful he was and how the day of the wedding and reception, he did exactly what we wanted, not what he thought needed to be done. First I would like to say what an amazing person Rick is. He has a great energy that off that bat made my husband and I want him at our wedding. We were in a bind to find a DJ, and NOT just a DJ, but someone to help us with the smooth flow of the wedding and entertaining the guests from the moment they walked into the reception. Rick is very organized, detail oriented, and extremely well prepared for any possible problems, which was incredibly important to us because we didn't want to have to worry about what would happen if something breaks when we were trying to host the biggest party of our lives. Rick really goes above and beyond when preparing for a wedding. I know he spent many hours modifying our wedding graphic so that it could be used on the video screens during the reception. He also put together a song for the Mother/Son dance, and he did a wonderful job hosting our reception. I know he must have done an amazing job because the dance floor was packed all night long and everybody was smiling and dancing the night away. He is a very professional host, and if you are looking for a DJ that will throw a party that your guests will not forget without drawing attention to himself and overpowering the event, then Rick is definitely the perfect DJ for you.

To those wondering about hiring a DJ (and specifically Rick Whitehead at bass is loaded) the answer is simple, you cannot go wrong. Our daughter and future son-in-law were mostly "hands off" when it came to the wedding planning. We initially were going to try and organize everything ourselves during the ceremony and reception (music, flow of guests, etc.) and after just a short time it became apparent that it was just going to be overwhelming. We were determined to provide a fun, memorable and elegant wedding for our daughter and new son-in-law. At this point we were somewhat at a loss until we discovered that a "good" DJ could basically do everything we were looking for including managing all music, providing for flow of guests from one area to another. We had also heard that a "not so good" DJ could be a disaster. By luck we discovered Rick at bass is loaded. We were impressed by his reviews but even more impressed by his responsiveness and professionalism to our initial inquiries. We ultimately elected to have Rick do the wedding and it was the very best decision and investment of money that we could have possibly made. From the beginning, Rick was there to help us plan how the flow of the ceremony and reception would proceed. He met with us in person over a month before the wedding, was in contact with the wedding party frequently by e-mail thereafter (selecting songs and helping to answer questions about the ceremony and the reception). He was extremely flexible and given everything he did the value and quality of the service he provided was outstanding. The ceremony and reception were fantastic, (thanks to Rick), and our daughter and new son-in-law were more than delighted about how things turned out. My wife and I cannot recommend Rick at Bass is Loaded enough. His service was the best money we spent on the entire wedding. The wedding was everything our daughter wanted it to be (fun, elegant, memorable) and more. In addition, we have one other daughter and when it is time for her be married the FIRST person we are going to call is Rick!!!!!

Rick was such a professional that after only one meeting and a few emails he knew our personalities and style perfectly by the time our wedding day arrived. There were a few delays in the flow of the reception but he quickly filled them by entertaining the guests and so there were no awkward pauses. The music was great. It was nice that we didn't have to give him a long list of specific songs, but just a couple to show our tastes, and then guests were able to request songs, making everyone happy. We were also impressed with the fact that the party just didn't seem to want to stop so he stayed at least another hour keeping everyone pumped. Rick was a great choice for us. He found every song we wanted, even the obscure ones! Our rehearsal ran smoothly only because he knew exactly what he was doing when none of us did. We can't say enough great things about Bass is Loaded and everything Rick did to make our wedding day perfect. Our wedding was on the beach in Oregon and the ceremony site required equipment that operated solely on battery power. Rick spent time researching battery options, procured the necessary equipment, and tested it well before the wedding. Rick worked hard to make sure Chris and I did not worry about anything during the reception. He also created a "final song" that included a few pre-recorded messages from Chris and me which made for an unforgettable closing memory for our guests. Rick understood what we wanted from our wedding and made every effort to deliver our objectives: fun, relaxed, and making sure our guests were entertained. On top of it all, Rick is a funny, down-to-earth, nice person who is extremely easy to work with. Rick will do everything he can to make sure your wedding day is what you want, and he does it all with a smile. If you want to reduce stress on your wedding day, and work with someone who will make your life easier, you want Bass is Loaded!

We just got back from Kauai and wanted to send you an email to let you know how great you were at our wedding. The whole day was everything we hoped for and more. We couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out. You knew I was nervous about making sure everyone at the wedding knew what was going on during the reception and you did a fantastic job announcing when things were going to happen and made sure that everyone was involved who wanted to be. The microphones you had at the ceremony location were also awesome! Everyone (even those in the way, way back) could hear what K & I were saying perfectly clear and there wasn't any problems even with the crazy wind! And your music selection was AWESOME!! All of our friends and family were commenting on how great the music at dinner was and how nobody wanted to stop dancing at the end of the night because the music was SO good and it totally fit our crowd. You totally hit the "unique" on the head and all of the feedback from our family and friends was nothing but how great they thought you were and how the whole night flowed so well. Thank you again for helping us pick our ceremony music, we really appreciated your feedback on that as well. I do have to say that even though you were a little bit more expensive than other options we looked into it was TOTALLY, ABSOLUTELY 100% worth every penny you charged. I would even venture to say that it was probably the best money spent of the whole wedding (other than my beautiful dress) :) But really, it couldn't have been more a more perfect night for us. I honestly attribute so much of that to your organization, your music selection, your ability to keep things rollin' at the wedding and last not not least your calming presence which made everyone feel there (including my frazzled self) feel comfortable. Rick is truly amazing. He is SO much more than just a DJ, he proved to be an invaluable part of our wedding process. He was always available for thoughts or questions and provided lots of invaluable insight along the way. His calm demeanor and style always put my wife at ease. By the time the wedding rolled around, it felt like he had already gone above and beyond and the wedding hadn't even started! We felt so comfortable with him that we gave him free reign on what to play and he did not disappoint! It was so great not having to worry about the music at all, he definetly kept the party rockin! You will not find a better DJ, Rick cared about what the bride and groom wanted and made sure it happened. He was available to meet to go over music but also helped organize the entire evening by making sure everything flowed smoothly. He timed the ceremony perfect and coordinated the keyboard player and everyone walking down the aisle. He had mikes set up that no one could see so everyone could hear the ceremony. At the reception he made sure the appropriate music at the right volume was played through dinner and made sure each event such as cake cutting, flower toss and garter toss were coordinated and everyone was aware what was happening. He put together music videos that were incredible, during dinner he played one of the bride and groom in their younger years and also pictures and the story of their life together up to the wedding. Towards the end of the evening he played back the photos of the ceremony that the photographer had edited during the reception. Rick put them to music and also had interviewed the bride and groom separately before the wedding and had them talking about why they wanted to be married. This was a beautiful video that had everyone in tears. Most of the guests stayed until the very last dance and everyone has told us that this was the best wedding. Rick made this the best by taking care of the details throughout the evening and making sure that everything progressed in a smooth and organized way.
You will never find a more professional, organized and caring person than Rick and we would recommend him for any event.

We used the DJ as the MC for the night as well as to provide music as our guests were arriving, through dinner, and first dances. We had a live band, and the DJ provided music during their breaks so the dancing NEVER stopped! The DJ provided all the sound equip. which was very high quality, and video equipment which was used for the synergy production her produced with our photographer. It was outstanding, more than we expected! The DJ helped us to clarify a simple timeline for the night and fit in all the pieces we wanted like toasts, cake cutting, garter toss, bouquet toss etc. He took the lead in coordinating the evening with the band and make it all happen very smoothly. He was very good about comminication with us (the parents) so we were all clear about how things would happen the day of the wedding.

Rick was wonderful to work with. He was super professional, friendly, and knew what he was doing. He gave great advice on what he has seen done at other weddings and gave his recommendations on what we could do, but also allowed for the bride and groom to have full control over final decisions made. His recommendations and knowledge gave me great comfort when I had NO idea what to do or how things were usually done! He also put a lot of time into our first dance song revisions and he also kept the party going at the reception for the few of us left dancing up a storm. We had a great time.

Working with Rick was so easy and fun. He was very enthusiastic and had great ideas to fit our theme and customize the music just for us. Rick went above and beyond anything we could ever expect!! From the very beginning of our professional relationship, he was completely on top of everything, from answering our emails/questions almost immediately, to soothing any nerves we had regarding our wedding day. His confidence absolutely held up on our wedding night. We got comments like "this is the most organized wedding i've ever been to! Everything went so smoothly!" Because of Rick and his guidance, no one had any idea that our ceremony rehearsal took all of 10 minutes. From the moment our guests arrived, to the toasting, to the cake cutting, Rick held our audience captive, made sure everyone knew what was going on, and got them moving on the dance floor! He played only the music we requested (60's, 70's, a little bit of 80's) in addition to "must play songs," and he played them EXACTLY when they needed to be played. His timing was spot on, and the music was totally rockin'! The lighting and equipment was top notch, and our karaoke was a huge party hit. Our favorite part of the evening (not to mention the part that had the bride bawling!) was when Rick surprised us with our vows mixed in to our last dance. It was the final touch on our magical night that made everything so, so perfect. We would recommend Rick 100% to ANYONE who needs the best wedding entertainment at a value that is so beyond what they pay. Rick, Thank You again, so much! You were the best!

Our wedding reception was SO much fun that many people said it was the best party they had been to. Some specific things that Rick did for us: Emcee'd and guided the event, provided a custom voice over song for our parent dance with our kids, provided reception music that exactly met our music tastes and kept the party hopping all evening long, provided great ideas for music cues and transitions during the ceremony and reception, and was professional and fun without being a "HUGE PERSONALITY" during the night. We are very glad to have taken the advice of other couples and hired a better DJ for our wedding, it was so worth the extra money.

Rick was wonderful to work with and was dedicated to making our special day everything we wanted it to be. Although the rain changed our plans he was quick to adjust things so we could still start our ceremony on time and it almost seemed like we had planned to have it indoors the whole time based on how smoothly things went. I would choose Rick again in a heartbeat if we ever needed a DJ again.

We want to start off by saying that choosing Rick as our MC was by far the best decision we made in the whole wedding planning. We considered putting together one great playlist from iTunes and hitting play for the entire ceremony and reception. That sounded very economical, but would have been a horrible decision! We are so happy that we did not do it this way. Rick really made the whole show run, and run smoother than we ever thought that it could.

We just want to give a couple real life ratings of why Rick deserved a 5.0 rating on everything.

Quality of Service: Rick really was a MC. I remember at one point in the Reception, I (The Groom) went up to Rick to say that we planned on eating first and then moving on from there to the list of stuff that we wanted to get done (First dance and such). I think that he could see that I was a little rattled, which I was, big day and all. He looked at me and said; �Scott, sit down and relax, enjoy your day, I will take care of all of this!� Being the Type A spazz that I am I responded, �Do you want me to tell the servers when to serve the champagne?!?!?� With out a blink of an eye he just laughed and said, �Have and beer and go mingle with your beautiful bride, I�ll take care of the rest.� This was the best thing that he could have said. I took him up his offer, grabbed a beer and went on to not worry about a thing for the rest of the night.

Responsiveness: During the Maid of Honor speech there was a comment made about watching the movie �Night at the Roxbury� during high school. At that point my Best Man and I started doing the Doug and Steve Butabi side head nod, which created a stir with the younger attendees. After that reference the Best Man gave his speech. Rick then remembered that comment and to start the dance floor said �Heard the Maid of Honor loved Night at The Roxbury, so this one is for her!� At that point the chosen softer music faded into �What is Love� by Haddaway. The crowd yelled, the dance floor filled, and remained full for the entire night!

Professionalism: Funny story but pissed me off at the time. Outdoor wedding in Oregon, in September is a bold move. Mother Nature scared us enough to rent tents two days before the ceremony. The tent company (Not to Be Named) decided to get there very large truck stuck in the mud no more than 20 feet from isle we were walking down in 2 hours. Rick had to laugh as he told me, and then said �I�ll pull him out.� Then proceeded to unhook his trailer and pull out the stuck truck. Then he hooked his trailer back up and politely showed the drivers how to properly back something up without destroying a flower bed.

Value for Cost: Admittedly there was a little bit of a sticker shock going from an iTunes playlist (free) to a professional MC. Rick was very flexible and has packages for every budget. I knew that it was money well spent when I stuck my head out to see how many people were there and I heard a string version of Stairway to Heaven. It was awesome. One piece of advice; Fill out his survey on what you listen too and take it serious and at the ceremony/reception just sit back and enjoy. I promise that you will hear more songs you love and forgot about than you have never heard or do not like.

Flexibility: Back to being Type A, and a slight perfectionist, I decided to make the isle that we were walking down twice as long 1 hour before the ceremony. Rick not only moved the speakers, but proceeded to loop the chosen song for the bridal party to walk down to back into itself for a seamless transition when the song ended a bit prematurely.

I could honestly sit here and write about this all night. It is sort fun reminiscing on what was a crazy, emotional, beautiful, amazing and stressful day it was. Instead of rambling on I will offer this: I gave Rick permission to give potential clients my personal cell phone number. If you are on the fence call me and I will give you 100 more reason�s why Rick and Bass is Loaded is the right decision for you and your ceremony.

Rick was the best DJ I have ever seen by far. He was professional but fun and entertaining at the same time. All of his equipment was top of the line and worked wonderfully! My mom, who is hard of hearing, was able to hear every word of our ceremony because of Rick's wireless microphones and she loved it. We had several comments from our guests about the great choice of music he played and people danced the night away because of him! Any other DJ would not have done justice. He worked extra hard installing upgraded lighting and making sure everything was perfect for our event! Without him, the party would not have been what it was!

As the mother of the Bride I wanted my daughter to have an amazing wedding but also had to keep the budget in mind. I am SO glad I decided to spend a lot more on the DJ than originally planned, to get the incredible talent, attention to detail and amazing outcome provided by Bass is Loaded. Wow, I don't even know where to begin. Rick is not just a Dj, he is a true entertainer. From the first day we booked with him, 7 months before the wedding, until the second we left for our honeymoon he was availibile and attentive to each and every one of our wedding needs. He was so accomidating....drove 3 hours to our reception just to make sure the timing on all the music for walking down the aisle was perfect...and by far the most professional vendor we had. His music selctions were perfect at just the right times, and his ability to incorpoarate our vows into our first dance was not only a tear jerker for everyone attending the wedding, but an incredibly memorable moment as well. Rick was great! He really went out of the way to accommodate all of our needs for our wedding in Yachats. Three days before the wedding Rick drove an hour and a half from Eugene to Yachats to meet with us and to scope out the logistics of the location for the ceremony and the party after. We were very impressed with his attention to detail.

We were married on a rocky shore that jets out over the ocean and Rick was was able to supply us with a PA system for the ceremony. It was not an easy feat to get speakers, microphone, and electricity to the site but Rick came through like a champ!

For the reception after, Rick was the perfect MC and host. He made all the right announcements at jst the right times and played the perfect mix of cocktail and dinner music from out wish lists.

When the party started Rick kept the dance floor packed all night long and left our friends and family wanting more by the end of the night. He played just the right mix of classics and contemporary music just like we asked.

We give Rick two big "thumbs up" up and would hire him anytime to host our next party.

Rick was the best. He was always available to answer our questions, and met with us several times even though were were several hours away! His personal attention to detail and genuine interest in making our day run smoothly put our minds to ease.

And, he is innovative and very very tech savvy. He was able to project our live Trio/String outside wirelessy!! He even had a cool speaker outside that swiveled (one direction for the ceremony, and the other direction for the cocktail area). He also put together a slideshow (with soundtrack) that we played for everyone at dinner. His editing was great, and it was one of the highlights.

For our reception, Rick even played the same music videos as the songs that were playing on his 46" plasma TVs. How cool is that??

Finally, the music was great. We had a wide variety of different people with different tastes and different favorite genres (husband fifteen years older than wife; different ethnic backgrounds; kids, parents, and grandparents; the works). Somehow, Rick pleased everyone and the dance floor was going the whole night. By the time we reached the finale ("Sweet Caroline"), it was mayhem and it was awesome.

I must say that Rick at Bass is Loaded made our wedding a fun, enjoyable, and memorable experience for everyone.

We were not blessed with nice weather that day, it was rainy and very cold. Rick kept the guests entertained and even though it was cold, they stuck around and enjoyed every minute of it.

Many of our guests told us how much they enjoyed the music he played and how professional he was. They also loved the synergy media slideshow that Rick and Richard Roman Photography (also very highly recommended,) put together by the end of our reception. I have no idea how they found the time to do this, but it was absolutely wonderful!

We could not have asked for a better DJ, for better music, or for a better experience. He also did many things for us prior to the wedding to make our day even more special. Rick at Bass is Loaded is definitely worth every penny!

Absolutely worth the price!
In a word Rick is amazing! He integrated all of our favorite music into the ceremony and reception and worked tirelessly before the wedding to find instrumental or wedding acceptable versions of all of our favorite artists and songs (even the obscure ones). Rick was always on time, professional,and had top of the line equipment. He offered great advice on how to get the reception we wanted, but was very flexible and willing to do whatever needed in order to get the wedding of our dreams. Rick will really take the time to get to know you before your event, which combined with his experience will keep your guests on the dance floor all night.

Rick also does an amazing Synergy presentation with photographer Richard Roman (also highly recommended) if you book them together. Near the end of the reception your guests will be able to see some of your wedding photos, and Rick will set the slide show to music and recordings from the ceremony. He also pulled my husband and I aside before the wedding and allowed us to record little clips on things like how we met, and when I knew he was the one which he blended into the ceremony- which was an amazing touch. My guest are still talking about the presentation!

Bottom line: an absolute dream to work with- goes the extra mile and takes the stress off the bride and groom. I could not recommend Rick more highly to any bride and groom- you will not be disappointed!

Working with Rick was a wonderful experience for us. There was nothing about the wedding or ceremony that was particularly important to my husband, except for the music. He has incredible music tastes and knew exactly what he wanted, as well as what he didn't want. And he is now convinced that Rick walks on water. :)

Every step of the way, Rick was amazing to work with - always friendly, helpful, accommodating, and fun. We knew that the DJ was someone that would set the tone for the party and we had very specific ideas about what we wanted. Rick remembered little things we mentioned along the way and incorporated them - long after Mark and I had forgotten them.

Our wedding reception was absolutely perfect - and we had people on the dance floor ranging in age from 2 to 80 - and a fairly large population of 13-year olds. Rick was great to work with. We were planning a wedding out of state and he was very organized, willing to meet in person when we were in town and otherwise easy to get a hold of on the phone or e-mail. My favorite part is that he does everything himself and so we were not worried about things being missed or some random person showing up for the event. Highly recommended!

This is one great DJ! I was a little nervous about planning the "activities" during our reception, and Rick helped us plan everything out, We had a sweet grand entrance! I used to do a lot of mobile DJ'ing and live sound gigs, and i was very impressed with the quality of equipment and the skills that our DJ had. You know a good sound system when you go to use the restroom, and the toilet seats are rattling! He put on a great light show too.
But hands down, we had a blast! I have heard nothing but positive comments about out wedding party.

We were extremely happy with Bass is Loaded. Rick was a great help and the music selection was amazing. I heard so many individuals comment about how great the play list was. I really appreciated Rick's flexibility and the way in which he kept the reception flowing. We have a 3 month old son, and there were times when we would have to disappear to change or feed him. Rick always checked with us, letting us know when our dances would be, and providing a structure that we greatly needed. We were very happy with his professionalism and how he took charge so we didn't have to worry about it. We were also unsure of how we should organize things, and asked Rick to provide some advice. He did a great job with everything and we would recommend him for anyone's reception.
Rick asked us how we would describe what we wanted a week before. We said "fun" and "casual." We didn't give him much to work with, but he hit the nail on the head. The atmosphere was exactly what we wanted and everyone had a great time. The physical "set-up" at the reception also posed some challenges, but Rick handled them flawlessly. My wife and I had a destination wedding (Maui) and then had a reception back home 2 weeks later after the honeymoon. Given that our guests weren't going to be with us at our wedding, it was very important to us to have a spectacular reception. To us, having the right DJ was equally important to great food and table service. The right DJ will absolutely make or break your event, as they control the timeline and flow of the entire event.

Rick exceeded our expectations on every level. We were absolutely blow away with what a success our reception was. It was everything we had hoped it would be, and more. Much more actually.

Rick took the time to get to know us, learn our personalities, our likes and dislikes, and to learn as much as possible about the type of event we wanted. He is very, VERY good at what he does.

We paid the extra dough for his upgraded light and video setup and it was worth every penny. It completely transformed the event. Guests felt very engaged to what was going on and loved every minute. Everything, from start to finish, went off without a hitch. It was absolutely perfect.

Rick was an amazing ally in our wedding planning. He was very supportive and encouraged our very non-traditional wedding music. Rick helped us choose some great music for our ceremony and slowed down a song for us to better fit the mood. His incorporation of our vows into our first dance song was great! It surprised and wowed our guests!!!

I would hire him again in a second and highly recommend him to other couples. We really appreciated his willingness to meet in between the hire date and the wedding date. Numerous emails and a few phone calls also helped allay any worries we had...

We felt comfortable with Rick and felt like he really was part of the wedding rather than an observer whom was leading our reception. He chose great music for our reception and didn't think it odd we didn't want light jazz playing before we did our grand entrance.

Of the four DJ's we contacted Rick was the only one to follow up every step of the way. He was not the cheapest, but after our first meeting I decided that was not an issue, and am I glad I did. Our wedding was an absolute success! My husband and I could not have been more pleased with Rick from Bass is Loaded! Rick walked us through every step of the process concerning his services and helped us to make our reception a fabulous party and definitely a night to remember. The service we got from Rick was more then we could have asked for. Rick was quick to respond to any and all e-mails I sent, I even sent him an e-mail with a random question on Christams Eve and got an answer back within 2 hours. He was able to pick up on who we were really quick and was great with his suggestions. We wanted to have a fun classy wedding and I don't think we would have got that if we would have went with a different DJ. Our guests LOVED him and we got so many compliments on how great he did. We heard over and over again about how fun and professional he was. He was well worth the money and we wouldn't change a thing about the service he provided! Hands down the best out there.

Excellent wedding vendor. Highly recommended! We had a hard wedding because it was a small guest list with mostly family and few close friends. We were concerned that it could be hard to find a way to please everyone because of the diverse ages and lack of people that would be dancing. Rick handled everything perfectly and we had no reason to worry!

Rick did a wonderful job working with us on our wedding . He helped us lay an outline of how the day was going to go since we didn't have a wedding planner. He has an extensive collection of music, and had lots of good ideas about different songs we might like to use during our reception and was very flexible about changing last minute details. Rick was very nice and easy to work with he spent a lot of time with us making sure everything came together.
Our wedding and reception was absolutely wonderful. Many of our guests made comments on how much they liked the DJ, the music was great, and Rick was able to think on his feet well and flawlessly adapt to the on going changes in the plans throughout the evening.

He had all the music that we asked for and more, there was one song that he didn't have but he bought it . Rick from Bass is Loaded was simply awesome. He really made everything work out great and did everything we wanted and more. He met with us multiple times ahead of time to make sure everything was just right and put up with mine and my families many many emails, and responded to every one! Very professional, really knows what he is doing. Rick created a unique song for us that incorporated the vows we had just spoken a few minutes after we spoke them, truly memorable. Everything looked and sounded great, could not have asked for more. The only problem we had was that it rained! However, Rick handled it and set up a back up plan with out a hitch. Would use him again for anything in a heartbeat!

My husband and I were blown away by "Bass is Loaded" and Rick's talent at our August wedding. Our wedding was inside/outside and "Bass is Loaded" was able to accomodate for this. He worked one on one with us in hand choosing songs, timing the entrances, keeping guests entertained, and provided the quality of music above what we hoped for. "Bass is Loaded" provided us with all of the extras without all of the extra costs. It was a package deal with no hidden fees or add ons. I was impressed with Rick's attitude, flexibility, and overall professionalism. He was easy to work with and kept us clam throughout the entire evening. We would book them again for another event!

We couldn't have asked for a better job than what Bass is Loaded! did. Everything Rick was involved in was pure excellence. My wife and I loved the fact that he met us a couple of times to pick songs and coordinate the evening. There's so much that goes into planning a wedding and reception, it's nice to deal with such a professional. Upon getting to the reception and seeing everything set up we knew it was going to be the best party. It's been almost a month since the party and people are still coming up to us and saying how much they enjoyed the party and especially the music. Everyone loved the broad range of music Rick played. Rick Whitehead/Bass Is Loaded provided the music that created the wedding of our dreams! We had been researching whether to hire a live band or a DJ, our photographer Richard Roman suggested we call Rick--we're so glad we did! Rick had several meetings with us/photographer/wedding planner at our venues, and it was hugely important to me that the DJ at our wedding would be who we'd been meeting with. Rick understood the atmosphere we wished to create, supported our outrageous and non-traditional requests, and offered fantastic suggestions...playing "Hot for Teacher" when the groom is a teacher? We (and our guests) loved it!!! Rick created a special version of the groom's processional song and found a clear recording of an obscure 1940s love song--fantastic! He worked so hard to be in three places at once: our ceremony, reception and dancing venues were all different, but Rick never complained that three set-ups was too challenging, he just "made it work", beautifully. Rick made periodic announcements during dinner and mingling to let guests know what was coming up, what the favors were, what other activities were available, etc. The Synergy presentation that Bass Is Loaded and Richard Roman Photography created brought tears to my eyes--it was amazing to see photos from our ceremony just a couple of hours later, and hear the vows that Rick recorded for us...we still don't know how they did it, but our guests were blown away. As for value, I tried to keep in mind that our vendors were dedicating their time to giving us the best experience possible. Rick met with us several times and responded to our e-mails within 24 hours, created a song (how long would that take me to do? forever, because I don't have the tools), attended our rehearsal, came early to the ceremony to play while guests were seated, and closed out the reception--most professional service providers I know charge $50 to $100/hour, so the cost was reasonable. The true value in using Bass Is Loaded is the peace of mind that bride/groom have that their guests will have a once-in-a-lifetime experience at their wedding! Bass Is Loaded has our highest recommendation if you are looking for a professional, responsive and creative DJ and MC--with Rick's involvement, our wedding was ya-hoo! and not ho-hum.

even though rick was located more than 50 miles away he was always willing to meet with us whenever we felt we needed to talk to him. the selection of music was outstanding. I have been to alot of weddings where the dj ends up making the wedding revolve around them which we did not want but also didnt want someone just standing there playing music. rick was the perfect balance of being involved and and still making our day not his. i would highly recommend rick with bass is loaded you will not be dissappointed! thanks rick

Rick from Bass is Loaded was absolutely fabulous! On top of being an excellent sound guy for the ceremony and cuing all of the music flawlessly, he also kept the ceremony and reception flowing seamlessly. He always gave us a heads up about what should be coming next and announced all of the different events (first dance, cake cutting, bouquet toss) perfectly and with class. There was absolutely no "Emcee" or "Cheesy DJ" feel at all! He was 100% professional and fit right in with the vibe and feel of the whole wedding and reception. When we discovered that someone complained about a noise violation (not Rick's fault!) He quickly reset up the whole dance floor and moved with party inside seamlessly. He even poked fun at the old man who was complaining to make light of the whole situation and keep the party going. He also did an excellent job of adapting to the direction of the reception and kept the music going.

Rick also made a personalized copy of a remixed song with sections of the ceremony recorded over it. It was absolutely wonderful and everyone at the reception loved it.

I would highly recommend Rick and Bass is Loaded to anyone having a wedding in Oregon. It isn't often you can find a DJ who is both light hearted and professional!

When my husband and I first met Rick at a Bridal event, we knew immediately this was a fit for us. He was knowledgeable, punctual, professional and friendly. We could not have asked for a better addition to our wedding than Bass is Loaded mobile DJ. The level of professionalism displayed by Rick was exceptional throughout all stages of planning and execution. Throughout the planning process, Rick was essentially at our beck and call through telephone and e-mail (averaging a 1 hour response time), to answer questions, give suggestions, and provide support in general. Perhaps the most outstanding thing that Rick was able to do for us, was to help create unique music for our wedding ceremony by taking our favorite parts of many songs, and melding them into one fluid piece of music. That alone, made us feel as if he was worth every penny. He listened to what we wanted, and he provided it. Additionally, Rick attended our wedding rehearsal to coordinate his efforts with our minister and family so that everyone was on the same page. Finally, Rick was not only on-time, but early on our wedding day, and provided SEAMLESS service. Rick with Bass Is Loaded is the best DJ in the world! (And no, I am not related to him!) He was always available to us when we had questions, needed to add a song (even the hard to find songs), or if we just plain wanted his professional opinion. He came over to our house twice to help plan the event, stayed for several hours through our flip-flopping of what we really wanted, and didn't charge us a penny extra. He was HILARIOUS and very very professional too! (We offered him a beer on a HOT HOT day while planning in our non-air-conditioned house last summer and he respectfully declined since he was working).
