My wedding was in May 2013 at Battery Gardens. It was absolutely stunning, and I offer my full recommendation to any engaged couple looking for a spectacular wedding! I worked with Michele as my venue contact, and Eddie as the maître d'. Michele was a wonderful liaison – she has a fun personality and is 100% upbeat, listening to everything you say and offering her opinions on how to turn your ideas into reality. She took extensive notes on all of the ideas I had for the wedding and reception, and when the wedding day came, everything I had asked her to do was in place, leaving nothing for me to do but enjoy the night completely. Michele, thank you for making our dream wedding a reality! Eddie is a consummate professional – making sure every detail for the cocktail hour and reception met our expectations. The night flowed seamlessly, although I’m sure that behind the scenes, Eddie was working diligently to make it all seem effortless on the surface. Thank you Eddie!!

I can't say enough good things about BG. On top of being a gorgeous venue on a stunning site, they were soooo easy to work with. Laura and Michelle were super organized, responsive, and accommodating. They were even responding to emails the day after hurricane sandy. We especially loved that they provide and take care of so much of the details. Everything was set up perfectly on the day, and the whole evening was literally flawless. We relaxed and enjoyed without a single question or worry all night. And our ceremony photos on the waterfront are wonderful! Definitely get married here!

I cannot rave enough about Battery Gardens! We had our wedding there on 3/23 (both ceremony and reception) and it was fantastic. The night went so smoothly and the staff (Michele the catering manager, Eddy the maitre d', and all the servers/bartenders) was amazing. They treated us like royalty and looked after us the entire time, making sure we had full plates of food, lots to drink (both alcoholic and water), and keeping us abreast of the events coming up (heads up on toasts, heads up on cake cutting, etc.). The food was plentiful and delicious. Our guests raved about the variety during the buffet and the mashed potato bar was the sleeper hit of the evening. Michele, in particular, gave us everything we wanted. Any favor, customization, or amendment to the menu that we asked for was granted, it was amazing. She was such a pleasure to work with and was always very quick to respond to our emails. The space and views were beautiful and the spacious bridal suite was so great to have. You cannot find a better value for the cost. We are so, so happy we chose to have our special night there!

Out of all the vendors, finding the right venue definitely took the most time. We worked with the amazing folks at Kool Events who helped us find our venue, thanks Danielle and Amy!! We considered at least a dozen spaces, but when we visited Battery Gardens we knew it was the place for us. Located at the southern most tip of Manhattan, the venue is overlooking NY Harbour with perfect views of the Statue of Liberty. We had our ceremony on the second floor, cocktail hour on the first floor, then the reception and dancing on the second floor. The staff on the evening of was so professional and fun at the same time. Thanks Eddie for making everything run so smoothly. AND the food is great!!
The service and attention to detail that we got was impeccable. Laura R. was our main contact at BG and she was terrific through the whole process. Very accommodating. Battery Gardens also was a great value, all things considered it was very reasonable compared to some other places that we visited.
One thing I would like to mention is that BG is right on the water and our wedding happened 2 weeks after hurricane Sandy. Needless to say, the Wednesday after the storm, we drove down to see the damage and miraculously the venue was intact and in good shape. Paul, the owner, greeted us with a big smile and said "we'll have this place ready for you guys in no time". He and his staff did an extraordinary job taking the necessary precautions prior to the storm. Sure enough after a thorough cleaning and new wood floor, the place looked amazing for the wedding day.
Highly, highly recommend Battery Gardens for weddings and events.

The staff at Battery Gardens are some of the most wonderful professionals I dealt with over the past year of planning. Due to the hurricane, we unfortunately had to switch venues, but Battery Gardens made the process extremely seamless and better than I ever could have imagined. My guests are still raving about the food, decor, staff and the entire flow. Alex, Paul and Eddie are fantastic and I was so comforted to know that even after a natural disaster, they still prioritized our wedding and made it a complete success.

Absolutely amazing venue, hands down. Everything was amazing and I wouldn't recommend any other venue in NYC for a wedding. If you get married outside at night, just make sure you have the upstairs turn down the music during your ceremony. That was our only "complaint."

Battery Gardens is definitely the most unique wedding venue in Manhattan. My husband and I just held our wedding reception there last month and we couldn't have picked a better location. The views are amazing and although in the city, it still holds a certain intimacy that's impossible to find anywhere else in NYC. All other venues we considered were too industrial/loft like for us but BG was perfect. The food was amazing and our guests loved it all...from cocktail hour to dessert. Laura was our catering manager and she was extremely helpful and professional. Communication was excellent...could always expect a quick response from her. Eddie was our maitre d' and he was very kind and organized. We had a huge wedding party but the schedule of events worked out perfectly thanks to Laura and Eddie. Our guests had a fabulous time and are still raving about the wedding!!

Battery Gardens was the most beautiful venue I visited in NYC, and I visited a lot of them. From the moment I walked in I knew this was the right place for me. I was very happy with the team and the attention they gave us. I worked with Alex who was very professional and responsive, he has been in the industry for a long time and knows what he is talking about. I never worried with anything since I knew I could trust him. In the day of the wedding we had Eddie as our maitre d' and he was wonderful! The whole night was perfect, there was really no stress thanks to their amazing team!

Battery Gardens is a wonderful venue for a wedding. Our guests could not stop talking about how wonderful the venue was- it's unique because it's in battery park, has great views and great food. Laura was our wedding coordinator and she was fantastic. She was responsive and extremely flexible. The waitstaff was awesome as was the maitre'd. Everyone was there to throw a fantastic wedding! Our guests had a blast and it was a fantastic event.

I just had my wedding at Battery Gardens in May. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The food was delicious and the view fantastic - we also lucked out with the weather which made the view even better (especially sunset!). The staff was super attentive - my glass was always full. As a person obsessed with champagne and sparkling wine I was excited to learn that this was a venue that actually had decent sparkling wine to serve throughout the evening (not the sweeter variety found at many other venues). I had so many compliments on the food and the location. The location was like a secret gem to many people that don't spend much time in this part of town. The only thing that might make it better would be a bigger bathroom or bridal suite but overall I didn't find that to be a very big deal. Great great venue!

I have to share with you the most pleasant and unforgettable experience I had planning my daughter's wedding. A friend recommended that I go and see Battery Gardens for my daughter's wedding. When we all walked in to this unique venue, it took my breath away. The water view surrounding the place from every window was stunning. The feeling was so pure and elegant, it's exactly what we wanted. We were welcomed by Kevin and Laura who were beyond kind, generous and patient with us. They understood our needs and were the perfect team to guide us through a long year of planning.
The result was an amazing high-class wedding that left us and our guests speechless. It was the best wedding ever!! My daughter and my son-in-law had the most beautiful wedding I could ever dream of for them.
I would like to thank Paul, Kevin, Laura, Michelle and Eddy for making sure that everything went smoothly, for exceeding our expectations and for making our dreams come true.
If you want to have the best Manhattan wedding with the feeling of a beautiful destination wedding, don't even think twice. Just go there!
Love,
Yami Dotan

My fiance and I went out to see many venues for our wedding ceremony and reception. We took notes, collected pictures, made comparisons (well, more so me than him). But when we arrived at Battery Gardens there was no need for all of that, we just knew it was the perfect place!
When you walk in to this serene venue, you first notice the wall of endless windows in the main dining room overlooking the river and the Statue of Liberty, the elegant white sheers throughout, and the beautiful floral arrangements that compliment the decor.
Then you go upstairs to the reception hall, which is also surrounded by floor to ceiling windows overlooking the water. We have seen several sunsets from here and they are stunning! We even scheduled our post-ceremony photo shoot around the sunset time.
Regarding the service and staff, we have only positive things to say (hence the 5 stars). Laura and Michelle were our catering managers and had graciously put up with many phone calls from both my mother and I over the course of an entire year. They went above and beyond to accommodate our requests and reduce our stress levels! Kevin, the manager, was so kind and helpful as well. It felt like we had our own event planning team helping us with everything from the menu selections to recommending cake vendors!
Kevin and Michelle were there on our wedding day as well as Eddy, our Maitre'D, and whenever I saw them on that day all I saw were smiles. They were always there to ask if I needed something. The day was absolutely seamless, everything I asked for was there, everything I dreamed of came true.
Thank you to the staff at Battery Gardens for giving my husband and I the perfect wedding day!

My daughter and her fiance fell in love with Battery Gardens when they saw it. We did, too. We had never dealt with them, so we were a little nervous. This turned out to be totally unfounded. From the day we signed the contract to the day of the wedding, everything went so smoothly. Laura was our contact person and she was AMAZING. Every email or phone call was answered promptly and everyone was so professional. The tasting was awesome and beyond our expectations. All our friends are still raving about the food.
Eddie, the maitr'd, was beyond wonderful. He took charge the night of the wedding, and I didn't have to worry about a thing. It was as if I was a guest at my daughter's wedding. Eddie made sure that everything ran smoothly and always asked if there was anything I needed or wanted done. I can't say enough good things about this venue and would recommend them to anyone who wants a beautiful affair.
GUEST

I worked with Laura at Battery Gardens and they did an amazing job. The owner was always around and willing to help. It is a bit pricey but honestly worth every penny. People cannot stop talking about how beautiful everything was and how great the staff was as well!
GUEST

The level of service at Battery Gardens was amazing. So responsive and so accommodating. They helped make the night run extremely smoothly. The food was excellent and well timed service. Nobody had to wait too long for food.
GUEST

I had the ceremony and reception at Battery Gardens and I couldn't have asked for anything better. The service is AMAZING (Alex and Eddie were great!). They are so attentive and have a great eye for the details. Even though everyone tells you to be prepared for at least 1 thing to go wrong, NOT a single thing went wrong. The food is DELICIOUS. I received so many compliments on how great the food tasted! I would highly recommend this venue!!!! =)
GUEST

I fell in love with this location. Our wedding was beautiful. People said it was one of the best they ever attended.
We had our ceremony + cocktail hour outside. The food was delicious. The price for what you get at this venue is such a value. Especially in NYC. They really worked with us on our budget and what we wanted in terms of food choices. We had to make a few concessions that we thought were fair, like getting married on a Friday. I feel like our wedding looked like it cost way more than it did. Ultimately, we got our dream wedding. And Battery Gardens was a big part of that.
My main concerns were due to the fact that our catering manager left for a different job right before our wedding. She had been there for five years so I can't complain. But it did make us a little nervous. I just made sure to meet with them again and go over all the details and it all worked out.
The room layout is interesting in that it sort of has 2 halves--and I was concerned at 1st, but there was no reason to be. We had our 2 person table put in the middle, by a balcony, instead of in the corner. It was a great choice. My advice would also be to have everyone gather around the dance floor when you walk in for your first dance. Because the dance floor is not in the middle of the room, but on one side of the room, some people had to scurry through the crowd to get a good look.
They get pretty booked up. We were a bit late getting our venue, so we had to pick from their avail dates. But it ended up helping in that we were able to negotiate a better price. I think a lot of brides come see the space so BG is pretty busy in terms of showing the location, and maybe not as personal as other places. But once you see the space, you should know within about a week if it is right for you. If it stays with you in your mind, don't think twice, just book it.
The food at the restaurant is good, but the food at a catered event like a wedding is outstanding. You and your guests will not be disappointed. We got the filet and the sea bass. The passed apps at cocktail hour were devoured by the crowd. BG was even nice enough to make pigs in a blanket, which were not on the menu.
It is one of the most beautiful and unique wedding locations in Manhattan. It felt like a wedding at the bay or the beach almost....
GUEST

We had a wonderful wedding at Battery Gardens on 10/15/11. It's a very reasonable price for Manhattan, and you get great food, beautiful views, a gorgeous space, and great service. The staff were extremely helpful on the day of and made everything run incredibly smoothly. We didn't have to think about a thing. Highly recommended.
GUEST

I had both my ceremony and reception at Battery Gardens in August and I couldn't have been happier with how everything went. The service was fantastic---everyone really pays attention to details. You can tell that weddings are their business and they really know how to do them right. My family and I didn't have to worry or stress about anything on my wedding day.
The food is also WONDERFUL. I am still receiving compliments on how great the food was.
Battery Gardens created a beautiful experience I can't stop daydreaming about, and that my guests continue to rave about.
New York City venues are expensive, but I found Battery Gardens to be somewhat more reasonable (especially since we got married on a Friday). With the tremendous service we received, I think it was worth every penny.
GUEST

Had my wedding at Battery Gardens and was very happy with the choice. The venue is a great value for Manhattan, and I appreciated the great location in Battery Park near the water and the modern, airy feel of the reception room - exactly what we were looking for. Leading up to the day, there were a few times when I wished our designated event coordinators were more responsive to questions I asked, but once the day arrived they were extremely reliable, professional, and helpful. Would definitely have my wedding here again.
GUEST

The event managers and staff at Battery Gardens are total professionals when it comes to handling weddings. Everything about the planning process was very smooth and easy, and on the day of, the ceremony and reception moved seamlessly in the capable experienced hands of everyone at Battery Gardens. We were so impressed with how warm and welcoming everyone was with our guests, and how hard they worked to make sure the evening was perfect (It Was!). They even packed to-go dinners for traveling guests that had to leave early. They were just wonderful all around!
GUEST

We could not be happier with Battery Gardens. They went above and beyond to make our day amazing. The service, food and atmosphere were all outstanding. We worked with Laura, Ilene and Eddie and they were all so reliable, organized and just a genuine pleasure. Everything went smoother than we could have imagined. We have gotten so many compliments from all our guests about how beautiful everything was.
GUEST

We couldn't be happier with our choice of wedding venue. We had the ceremony outside, on the water, at sunset, overlooking the Statue of Liberty. Many of our guests came from out of town and this was a truly memorable NYC experience! (I'll mention, too, that the prices at BG are much lower than comparable venues in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. Budget-conscious brides, check them out!)
The food and drink was wonderful, as other reviewers have mentioned, but maybe more impressive was the service from the staff. The maitre' D, Eddie, took care of every detail, from the order of events to helping pack up gifts and cake at the end of the party. We had several elderly guests who were helped with elevator, bathroom, etc., and I heard several stories later from guests about how the staff helped them with personal issues. It was really exceptional service.
I'll also note that our point person for months, Laura, was amazing. She never let more than a day go by before responding to my (many) emails. We also did a lot of stuff ourselves, including flowers, decor, cake stands, coffee, etc., and she was always cooperative and accommodating. I know a lot of things can go wrong at a wedding, and I'm so grateful to have chosen professionals that know how to make it...
GUEST

The venue was beautiful and exactly what I was looking for - on the water with wonderful views and not an ugly carpet in sight. I got rave reviews on the food, decor, and wedding in general. I worked with Laura who was fantastic answering all my questions, explaining everything, etc. The prices were also very reasonable for Manhattan.
A few things to keep in mind though, some I knew, some I was surprised about. This is a public park, so events can take place - there was a charity run with booths etc. just about finishing up when my wedding was starting. Also, BG was still open for business, with a few tables under a tarp on the side. It did not affect the wedding, but guests wondered why there were people with jeans in the bathroom, and my toiletries i had arranged for the ladies room for my guests went missing....
I would have my wedding at BG again without a doubt!

Our wedding at Battery Gardens was perfect down to every last detail.
The food was absolutely delicious, the service was impeccable, and the
views and atmosphere were amazing. The outdoor cocktail hour was wonderful.
Our families and guests were raving about everything.
Alex and Eddie took care of everything we could have possibly needed
that night and in the weeks and months leading up to our event.
They were fantastic and it was a pleasure working with both of them.
Battery Gardens is the perfect place for an unforgettable NYC wedding!
GUEST

Battery Gardens was recommended to me by my ceremony venue, Our Lady of the Rosary Parish (Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine and Catholic church) right across the street. It could not have worked out better for convenience of transporting my guests from the ceremony to reception. We had a cocktail-style reception (no formal, assigned seating), and our guests had a blast! There was always more than enough food, never a long line at the bar, and a fantastic ambiance with the large paper lanterns overhead. We had the downstairs space, which is smaller than the upstairs, but it gives you great access to a beautiful backyard garden with more seating and a gorgeous view of the Hudson River and the Statue of Liberty. The perfect place for a memorable and iconic New York wedding. Big plus was that it was surprisingly affordable and a flat rate per person for all food and booze included.
Only negative was the in-house florist. They did work out a good price, and it was nice to have the florist know the venue and be on-location for meetings, preparation, and payment... but the flowers were really sub-par. I would not have put flowers at the top of my list of important things for my wedding, but these were just noticeably bad and half-dead - even in my bouquet. We had several meetings before the wedding, and nothing we communicated turned out as we expected. (The shape of the bouquet, the color scheme, the placement - nothing.) Just save yourself the hassle and work with an outside florist.

Battery Gardens provided us with an amazing wedding experience! The food was fantastic by restaurant, not wedding venue, standards, the service was impeccable, and Alex, our event coordinator, could not have been easier to work with. He is probably the most detail oriented person we have ever met. Every little thing down to lemons in the water and the arrangement of place-cards was perfect. We can honestly say that the entire staff made a personal effort to make our event a success, down to the owner driving us back to our hotel at 2am. Add an amazing view, and you won't go wrong with Battery Gardens.
GUEST

Ilene, our event coordinator at Battery Gardens, was lovely to work with from day one. Answered all my annoying questions for months, all with a smile.
Food was fantastic. Scenery beautiful. Wait staff pleasant. Couldn't have asked for much more!

Having our wedding at Battery Gardens worked out perfectly. We had a beautiful day and got so many compliments on the venue from our friends and family. The staff was EXCELLENT. They were incredibly accommodating and helpful, and the day went off without a hitch. if you're looking for a unique NYC venue this is the place.

Battery Gardens couldn’t have been more of a perfect venue for a wedding reception. It is a hidden jewel set on the tip of Manhattan in beautiful and historical Battery Gardens which overlooks the Statue of Liberty. It has a whimsical and romantic feel and requires little need for additional decorations! We worked closely with Ilene for our nine months of planning. She was so well organized and very accommodating to our needs. She gave us great insight and helpful recommendations each step of the way. It was such a pleasure working with her. The service for the evening was incredible and the food was top notch. Eddie, the maître d for the evening was exceptional. He was very attentive, personable, and professional! Guests are continuing to rave about how perfect the evening was; from the delicious food, to the amazing service, to the magical venue!

We had such a great day and such a wonderful time at our wedding. We were so happy with how everything went, all the stress of the weeks leading up to the wedding was well worth it!
BATTERY GARDENS: A+
When DH (the FI) and I walked into Battery Gardens, we knew immediately that we wanted to have our reception there. The views are amazing, we loved the layout and we loved the outdoor space.
We worked with Alex, the catering manager, from the beginning. He was always very warm and was so accomodating and never hesitated to provide us with anything that we asked for. He always returned calls and emails very promptly and was such a pleasure to work with.
The food was absolutely amazing. We ate there twice before our reception and loved the food. We also had a 4 course tasting about a month before our reception to choose our menu and we couldn't have been happier. Alex was such a great host that night and it only served to make us even more excited for our day.
Things could not have gone better on the day of the reception, some guests arrived at the reception a good 30 minutes before we were scheduled to start and Alex did not hesitate to let them in early and opened the bar at no additional cost to us. When DH and I arrived, Alex introduced us to Eddie, our maitre d' for the evening. They both really went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we could have possibly wanted fo the evening. We used the entire downstairs for our cocktail hour and it was so nice to be able to move around freely and not have people packed in. The food was absolute amazing; we had several stations and 8 passed hors d' oevres and our guests just raved about the food. My favorite were the baby lamb chops!
We then went upstairs for dinner. The service was impeccable. My guests could not stop talking about how attentive the waitstaff was and how much they enjoyed the food. We had filet mignon and sea bass as our main entrees and both were amazing. The filet was huge and perfectly cooked and DH and I both agreed that the food even more delicious than when we had gone for our tasting.
Alex and Eddie were both so instrumental in making sure that the evening was a success, they both made sure that things went smoothly and worked with the DJ to ensure that introductions, etc went according to plan.
Alex and his Battery Gardens staff went above and beyond to ensure that we had a wonderful day- from the beginning to the end, they demonstrated exemplary customer service. Their service was on a level that I find you rarely see anymore.
From day one, we knew we wanted an elegant and beauiful affair, and Alex and everyone at Battery Gardens made sure that our vision was realized and greatly contributed to the overwhelming success and happiness of our day!!
GUEST

Beautiful venue and professional staff. However, I was greatly disappointed that after offering to hold our belongings/decorations until the following morning, they had thrown out ALL of our flowers leaving only the vases!
GUEST

Overall, Battery Gardens is the PERFECT venue. The views of the harbor and the State of Liberty are amazing. And the decor inside is modern, clean and classy. The food is outstanding and service is top-notch. I worked with Ilene, the event planner, for about a year before my wedding, and she was very responsive to calls and emails. She was very cordial and was great the day of. The maitre d' Eddie was awesome!! He kept coming up to me throughout the evening and asking if me or my husband needed anything. The waiters, especially the one at my table, were great and made sure everyone's glass was full. The weather was outstanding so the patios and balconies were such a nice element. I can't tell you how many people RAVED about the venue. I don't think the venue, food or service could have been better. There were a few minor details that were overlooked, but in the grand scheme of things didn't matter. A++++
GUEST

Battery Gardens was a wonderful venue for our wedding! We had a wonderful day. Our one complaint was with regards to our event coordinator. At first, I was worried because every time I emailed her with a few questions, she would only answer one. Then, my worries were abated because she set up a tasting for us even though our original agreement was that it would not be included and the tasting was wonderful. So, our face-to-face interactions were fine and she reassured me that everything would be fine. On the day of the wedding, she arrived later than expected and while I had gone through the various items for the ceremony with her, she wasn't there for the set up. The flower girl baskets were MIA until after the ceremony. Our florist had to ask for them to set up a sweetheart table for us also. We had planned to serve tea to our parents during the ceremony similar to a regular chinese tea ceremony, and despite several discussions and giving them the tea to steep, we ended up with an empty teapot in the middle of the ceremony! Oh, and also, my husband had to fix the outdoor microphone at the beginning of the ceremony as no one else came to the rescue.
The reception, however, was amazing with food that was absolutely delicious. The maitre'd was awesome as well.
All in all, we had a great time. The one thing I would have changed is to have hired my own day of coordinator for the ceremony.

We just held our wedding ceremony and reception at Battery Gardens over Labor Day weekend and it was PERFECT!
The weather was beautiful, the view was magnificent, the decor was spectacular, the food was delicious and the service was RIGHT ON.
We had our ceremony indoors on the 2nd floor since we were afraid it would be too hot out for our guests. Immediately after, we held the cocktail on the 1st floor and outdoor in the patio area.
Our guests never had to wait more than a minute for a drink from the bartenders... it felt like everywhere you turned there was a server passing by with hors d'œuvre... during dinner all of the guests' entrees were served at the same time... which is a great feat with over 120 guests!
Our maître d', Eddie, was the best! He anticipated all of our needs... without us evening asking him about it! He had food set up in the bridal private room since he knew the groom and I wouldn't have time to eat during the cocktail hour. He had the servers set aside desserts from our Viennese Table just for the two of us, again anticipating that we wouldn't have time to eat dessert!
One recommendation... don't put your DJ on the far wall near the fireplace. It is a bit hard to hear their announcements when you are on the other side of the room.
I would recommend any bride to host their special occasion there!

***long, but informative review****
PROS:
Location: waterfront, great views
Interior: chic, modern and classy
Staff: Amazing
Food: delicious, as they are a restaurantas well
CONS:
Price: standard manhattan prices but worth it (our evening wedding cost approx 180 per person during june)
Food: few issues with kitchen on the day of the wedding see below
Interior: The 2nd floor dining room is not the most spacious and divided into a dance floor and seating area , there is glass staircase off to one side that makes this division
OVERALL all the PROS outweighed any of the cons and we couldnt have been happier with our experience there. so 5/5 and highly recommended.
The price per person reflects a wedding during peak wedding season, on a Saturday evening. Our party was a little under 200 people, which was a comfortable number considering the space. This price does not include the permit for outdoor ceremony($1000) and the valet/parking lot fees.
Battery gardens on located in battery park on the water front, not too far from the liberty island ferry and the staten island ferry docks. It has beautiful views of the river and statue of liberty.
The decor is very chic and the food is EXCELLENT. The restaurant is run by small professional team and you are likely to meet the owner(alex) when you visit. We worked with Ilene Wolf, one of their event coordinators. She is wonderfully professional and is well experienced with weddings. She will make sure your day will runs smoothly. She worked with our wedding planner(if you do not have one, she and the maitre'd will basically take on that role for the day)
There were many minor disasters that day. From the rain, to the cake getting smashed on delivery, to the nightmare of a dj and the fish dish having to be changed; everything was handled amazingly well.
Our wedding was going to be an outdoor reception, on the waterfront, leading to the cocktail hour on the 1st floor and outside patio and finally followed by the reception in the 2nd floor dining area, that has several balconies. This is the general outline of most weddings there, although some people prefer the indoor wedding ceremony, which the 2nd floor area is used. The restaurant is well equipped to change your outdoor wedding to an indoor wedding, for our wedding day it was done without a glitch. There are other combinations of using the upper and lower levels, that other parties used but I'm not sure if the price is the same.
Food was very good, my guest are still raving about it. The entrees we chose were the Chilean sea bass and the beef medallions. The other dishes we tried at the tasting were excellent as well( filet mignon, salmon etc...) but we chose those two because they were not only AMAZING but less generic.
My only gripe was that the chilean sea bass had to be switched to salmon at my wedding because the was not checked on by a sui chef and fish had gone bad, the kitchen chef then had to delay the entree and we replaced the time with dance set. The dish was excellent anyway as per my guest.
The dessert was also changed from a cheesecake on a plate to a cheese cake with a parfait cup. This I was told was the pastry chef "was trying something new." By then I did not care( b/c i was dancing up a storm) and again it was a tasty dish. However would have been quite annoying if I had decided to print menus.
Also it was probably the same pastry chef fixed my battered cake to look like new.
Otherwise the staff was amazing/ professional/personable and well prepared. Even when my dj was acting up, they have a back up sound system and were prepared to take over with our laptop and ipod.
hope that was helpful.

We highly recommend Battery Gardens as your wedding venue, especially if Ilene Wolf is your "wedding planner." She works at Battery Gardens and is very efficient, professional, prompt in responding to an avalanche of emails and very friendly to boot. The venue is lovely and the location is spectacular - in Batter Park on the water overlooking the Statue of Liberty. What a beautiful New York location!
GUEST

Wonderful venue and wonderful people to work with. They even had a few surprises for us (good ones) during the night. Were very professional and responsive, which after looking around NYC for some time we can see is not something you can take for granted. Looking forward to going back for our anniversary next year!

My husband and I planned our daughter's wedding in three months, and we did it long distance. Ilene, our wedding co-ordinator was excellent. She absolutely put us all at ease assuring that everything would be perfect, and it was! The setting was so spectacular. We had the most beautiful sunset, and lady liberty in the background was a great guest to have. Everyone we worked with was professional and accomodating. Paul, the owner was always there making sure all details were first-class. We had an hour and a half cocktail party, and guests are still talking about the appetizers we chose. The drama of the sleek, contemporary setting was exactly what we wanted. The dinner upstairs exceeded our expectations, and the wait staff could not have been more attentive. The votives along the celing ledge, and the lighting and holiday decorations that were already up enhanced our centerpieces. Ilene saw to everything we asked. In addition, her advise on the timeline for the evening was great. She was always calm and willing to listen. My daughter and son-in-law could not believe how perfect their wedding day was. We have received, calls and letters, etc. from almost all our guests thanking us for including them and letting us know it was the most magical wedding they have attended. I have no hesitations recommending Battery Gardens.
GUEST

The location is beautiful, on the water, in the middle of Battery Park, all glass and windows. We worked Yvette who was very responsive and informative. She has a tendency to answer only one of your questions in emails with multiple questions. Closer to the wedding, I just called her directly with my question and it was much easier to get a complete response. Battery Gardens is very flexible with décor and the food was delicious. The guests raved about the view and the food!!! In addition, they allowed us to host a tea ceremony for 15 people in the bridal suite and provided cups and saucers, which we appreciated very much.
The only issue is on the day of our wedding, there was very heavy rainfall. Battery Gardens felt the decision to have the ceremony indoors or outdoors (one of the main attractions for the venue) had to be made by noon. The ceremony/vendor set-up was to start at 4:30pm and by 3:00pm, the sky was clear, blue and sunny. Since the set-up was not starting until 4:30pm, we asked that the ceremony be held outdoors, however, BG was adamant about not changing their decision. We understood the necessity for extra staff to move the chairs and we had ample set-up time, however, they were more concerned about getting the chairs wet. Ultimately, BG compromised by allowing the ceremony outdoors and setting up only 40 garden chairs for about 125 guests. Our groomsmen pitched in and moved about 20 more chairs to the ceremony area. Half the guests stood for our 15 minute wedding ceremony. In the end, everything worked out for the best and we had the best night of our lives!

We had our ceremony and reception all at Battery Gardens and from the moment we booked to the moment the last guest departed after the reception, we were treated like royalty!! My guests can't stop talking about the food and everyone I've talked to said the food at Battery Gardens was "hands down" the BEST wedding food they've ever tasted. The view of the NY harbor with the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island as the backdrop and Battery Park right outside their door made our wedding pictures look like we were straight out of a magazine. The service was impeccable and ALL of my many requests were catered to...even our signature cocktails were served on silver trays by waiters during the cocktail hour. Battery Gardens truly made my fairytale/sex & the city wedding dreams come true!!

We had our wedding reception at Battery Gardens in October and besides being a stunning venue for a wedding, the service was top notch. We were designated a caterer when we signed our contract and she was great, she helped us with every last detail and answered all of our questions. The venue is a fabulous place for a New York wedding. It was the best night of our lives!

We looked all over New York for somewhere truely unique and truely New York - yet not contrived or a place that felt like it was a "weddings place". Battery Gardens was it (its also a great restaurant with stunning views)! The ambience and views are incredible. The food was delicious. And Ilene who we worked with there had the upmost professionalism and was willing to work with us on everything. We absolutely LOVED our wedding here and our guests raved about it. I would get married here again in a heartbeat.
Side note, if you're Catholic and want to get married at a Catholic Church there is the most charming, tiny Catholic Church across the street - it just fit our 200 plus guests and everyone loved walking right over to cocktails immediatly after. It is also one of the only Catholic Churches in NYC without a 5PM Mass on Saturday so you can get married at whatever time you'd like. Otherwise, I know they do a lot of weddings on-site at Battery Gardens as well and am sure they are stunning too.

My wife and I got married on New Year's Eve, during the day and things could not have been more perfect. We were lucky to have wonderfully warm weather, so her family visiting from Japan could enjoy the wonderful views from the multiple balconies of the Statue of Liberty and downtown Manhattan. The food was delicious and accommodated our vegetarian guests easily, Our coordinator, Eddie, was a thorough professional above and beyond the pale. As evidence of this compliment, we went back for a late lunch on our anniversary a year later. We enjoyed a 'mellow' meal but then we were both quite surprised when a complimentary dessert was delivered to our table while our rather uncommon Bobby Darin wedding song played in the background. Eddie, had called in earlier that day and gave the place the 'heads up' that we were married a year ago that day and if we happen to come in, play their wedding song. They did. And we are forever appreciative that we are not the only ones to fondly remember that day.

We had Alex, the catering manager, as our point person from day 1. My mom (she was the contact on this one) got any of my questions or concerns answered immediately and she thought Alex and the owner were both a pleasure to work with every step of the way. On the day of, the matre d, Eddie, was truly the best! He was always there for Scott and I whenever we needed something and was so attentive and sweet and wanted to make sure everything was perfect for us.
The food at BG was simply amazing! The guests couldnt stop and eating as well as us
and yes, we made sure to eat every course as well as cocktail hour and Im so happy we did. We got many compliments on the views and the venue itself and we felt it really was the perfect venue for us. Unfortunately, there had been extra construction on the west side highway that day so it took people a bit longer than usual to get down there and some guests did have difficulty finding the venue in the park. BG is definitely not the most convenient venue being inside the park and we didnt pay for valet so some people would probably be deterred, but the views, ambiance, food, etc made up for it
well at least in my opinion. I might have felt otherwise if I was the one trying to find the place for the 1st time ;)

This was the best wedding I've ever been at and had countless guests tell me the same. It's a restaurant at the bottom of Manhattan, overlooking the water, the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn. The food was amazing. There were 150 guests and the only complaint I got was there was so much wonderful food that people couldn't stop themselves from eating despite how full they were. They provided all the food, tables, chairs, linens, wedding cake, wines, liquors and made recommendations for photography, DJ/bands, flowers, etc.
