Reviews for Beauty on Call
BOC was ok to work with. I contacted them because a friend of mine in Chicago used them for her makeup & hair and she looked gorgeous. (BOC is based in Chicago). I found their prices to be inline with the quotes I was getting from other MUA and hair stylists in LA so I was ok with the price. But they did seem to drag their feet with finding me someone here in LA. They told me they'd call me within 2-4 weeks with both a MUA and Hair stylist but I never heard from them in that time period. I had to finally contact them to find out who was going to do my hair/makeup so I could set up a trial. When they finally gave me the name of my person, the info she had wasn't accurate. She was told I wanted my trial 2 days before the wedding. HUH? Anyway, she and I worked things out and at the end of the day I was happy with how I looked, but the scheduling and organizing part was not as tight as I would have liked. Also, my MUA/hair stylist was super nice and wonderfully talented but I wasn't happy that she brought along her boyfriend the day-of without asking if it was ok. She also ran 45 minutes late which threw off alot of the setup time at the site for me, my MOH and mom. So as you can probably tell, I'm sort of mixed on my review.
Beauty on Call – Make-up Coordinator/agent: C
Let me preface this by saying at the end of the day, my make up was great. But that was a stroke of luck, and I would not recommend BOC. BOC is an agency that represent independent makeup artists and hair stylists. The first MUA they sent was late for my mom’s trial, but she did an OK job and my mom wasn’t that picky. Then during my trial she was late again, and her work was just so-so (but I am not terribly picky either, so I just scheduled a second trial with her to try some new looks). I did ask her to make sure she was on time for the wedding (which she then used against me to tell the BOC agents that I was a high maintenance bride – I was cc:ed on an email by mistake, which is how I know.) Finally, she texted me at 3:55pm for my 4:00pm trial that she was not going to be able to make it. I had my shower that night and I was hoping to have my make-up done for me, and had worked my day around the trial. BOC eventually found me a new MUA 5 weeks before the wedding, but were not incredibly helpful (and charged me for the 2 trials that I had with the flakey MUA, who as it turns out is an employee of BOC, not a contractor.) BOC was very expensive. I would recommend going directly to a MUA instead of going through BOC.
