Dave was the most responsive, reliable, and flexible vendor we had. From the very beginning he was very quick to answer emails and was truly willing to do whatever we asked. When we asked for suggestions he gave great advice, but when we had something in mind he was absolutely happy to do whatever it was. From our first meeting he created a potential schedule of the wedding day that we edited and sent back and forth. It was the perfect way to stay organized and on the same page.

The day of the wedding was a breeze thanks to Dave! He managed to play almost every song I had mentioned off hand and he delivered the songs I specifically requested reliably and in good timing throughout the night. I didn't know how the atmostphere of the evening would turn out, but I told him my ideal feel for each part of the night and he made it all happen! We enjoyed a classy evening and then my friends were dancing all night.

I would highly recommend to Dave to anyone.

We knew that Dave was perfect for our wedding from our very first conversation. We explained to him that we were having a small wedding and that we were not sure what the atmosphere would be (crazy dancing or light mingling and talking). He worked the crowd from the minute he arrived and our guests are STILL talking about how much fun they had at our reception.

david at beggars tunes has tons of experience and all the music was great. we like everything from country to punk rock to blues, and he played it all without it ever seeming not to blend all together. was also very helpful with overseeing the flow of the reception as I had no wedding planner.

Dave was the one vendor I had the LEAST worries about. He took his time getting to know us. He was so conscientious in all that he did pre-wedding. During the reception, he made me feel totally at ease, kept the dance floor packed, and totally read the crowd there. He was calm, low-key, yet had a great personality and was just a genuinely kind person. We had interviewed another DJ that everyone else RAVES about and chose him over the competition because we just clicked. And now that the day has past, I have absolutely no regrets and his performance, if you call it that, completely confirmed our decision

Do you have liability insurance?

Yes

Describe your DJ style:

My style is elegant, yet relaxed. I work closely with my clients to create an atmosphere that allows the reception to take on a life of it's own in the direction desired by the bride and groom.

Is there a limit to the amount of music that can be requested?

No. The only restrictions on requests are if they are on the client's"Do Not Play" list or if the bride and groom do not want requests taken.

What is your usual attire?

Tuxedo. However, I dress as dictated by the client.

If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?

Absolutely not! I acquire it legally myself so that I can use it for future events as well.

How many other DJs do you work with?

None. I do, however, network with other DJ's, sharing information and ideas.

What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?

2 hours.

Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?

Absolutely! Meetings are encouraged. However, in the case of long-distance events where a meeting may not be possible, I consult in depth with the bride and groom via phone and email.

Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?

I do not specialize in any particular ethnic event, but I have performed at many.

Can the client submit a do-not-play list?

This is encouraged. I even guide my clients through a list of potential songs that people tend to either love or hate to help them formulate a do-not-play list if they wish to have one.

Do you bring your own equipment?

I provide all equipment and full backup for all items on site.

What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?

I offer a full array of computerized dance floor lighting, uplighting, personalized monogram lighting, a separate system setup for ceremonies, projection system and screen, karaoke, and wireless microphone systems.

How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?

Depending on the specific setup (number of systems needed, lighting, projection, uplighting, etc) setup takes anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes. I provide all my own equipment including tables if needed.

Do you have any extra space requirements?

No. Despite the incredible sound clarity (at both low and high volumes) and versatility of my equipment , it actually has a pretty small footprint!

Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events?

Absolutely not!

Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?

I do emcee as determined by the needs & desires of the bride and groom during our planning sessions. As a general rule, I do not talk between songs unless a specific announcement is required.

How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?

This is usually done by changing the style, genre, or speed of the music. I do not "force" guests onto the floor with obnoxious announcements or behavior.

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?

I only take very short restroom breaks as needed.

Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?

Absolutely! I time restroom breaks during non-critical moments during the event (for example- during dinner service).

What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?

Despite NEVER missing an event in over 23 years, I network with a large number of other current and former DJ's who could fill if available. By utilizing my detailed itinerary for each event, they would be able to fill in smoothly.

Do you book yourself for more than one event in a day?

No.

What is your overtime rate?

Same as the rate in the contract. There are no added fees for overtime- it is all at the contract rate and can be added during the event if OK with the venue. This rate is stated specifically in each contract I write.

Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?

No.

What is the required deposit to secure your services?

20% deposit (called a reservation fee) is due at time of signing. The remaining balance is due on the day of the event.
