We got the cakes we asked for. That's about all the good we can share. The process of getting our cakes was the biggest pain in the rear end. The staff is unaccommodating and you have to shout to no end to speak directly with a baker. We walked out one day after waiting over 45 minutes for the manager to retrieve the baker so we could speak with him. We never received a phone call of apology or anything. We just had to go back another day and try to resolve the issues if we didn't want to have to find a new cake vendor 2 weeks before our wedding. If you want a cake on a budget, this bakery will do the trick, but their service is HORRIBLE.
We ordered 200 macarons for our dessert table and they were the hit of the night. Awesome work, guys!
We decided two weeks before the wedding to have a cake and Bennison's did a GREAT job. It was delicious and beautiful. The guests raved about it and they were great at the last minute!
Having a wedding in the city, we tried every trendy place to get our cake. For people who don't mind eating cake in the middle of the day, we sure were tired of what we were tasting over and over again. The novelty wore off when we found that most tastings were dry and left us wondering what we could do to turn this all around.
So, we hit the north shore...again, all of the places your mother would want you to go to when ordering a fancy-smancy wedding cake. But on my way home from a dentist appointment, I wandered into Bennison's and made the tasting appointment on a whim.
This was the best thing I could have ever done. My husband ate more cake than I've ever seen him eat-ever. We went intermittantly to the bakery to buy things to see how moist and yummy they'd be and we were never let down. Every time we went, everything was delish.
Not only were our wedding cakes decorated to rival any other bakery, but everyone raved about how delish they all were (We did four huge cakes, all different flavors and decor.) The guests loved that there was a variety and we loved that there was a little of each one left for us to try the next day. They even freeze great!
And, did I mention that Bennison's was hundreds of $ cheaper, including city delivery, than any other place we tried?
The young man that helped us was very nice, and suggested different ideas. We only ordered the top tier of our cake, since we had ordered here before, we knew it would be gorgeous!
We had a couple of things go wrong with Bennison's. The design on the cake was not correct, and one of our layers was supposed to be marble cake, but turned out to be yellow. Regardless, we got a pretty good price and the cake was absolutely delicious! We worked with Amanda who was very knowledgeable, and the tasting was great.
We ordered a wedding cake and a groom's cake. The bakery did a wonderful job with the groom's cake.
The wedding cake was a simple design they had done before, and they botched it completely. The owner stated that he was out of town and his workers were unclear about how to decorate the cake. They used an airbrush method to add color to the frosting so it looked like a cake you would get at Jewel (no offense to Jewel). But the own gave me a free pie and birthday cake to make up for the mistake.
