I had Better Events cater my son's wedding reception and the rehearsal dinner at our home. The food was absolutely delicious! Roberto was easy to work with, staff was very professional and everything looked delightful. I highly recommend Better Events Catering.

Roberto from Better Events Catering was truly a pleasure to work with. He catered a very extensive brunch for about 80 people the morning after our wedding for our son and daughter in law.

He is very responsive and trys and succeeds in pleasing you to every detail you ask for. Our guests raved about the food, service and presentation.

I highly reccomend him for any event you want to cater. It was truly a pleasure to work with him and his staff!!

After meeting with 3-4 different caterers, we decided to go with Better Events because of professional tasting they had given us along with the quality of the food and the price. Most of the caterers that we met with the tasting was out of their house in their dining room, which was weird, and the food was mediocre. Roberto (the owner) was very personable, flexible and responsive to all our needs. He even did a walk through with us a few weeks before the wedding which helped us visualize our table layout and sequence of events better. Roberto even suggested a better layout than what we came up with based on the floor plan and also the amount of alcohol to get so that we didn't end up with a whole bunch of extras. The service continue to be great on the day of the wedding. He had provided a supervisor, Daniella, who made the reception went very smoothly. We don't think it would have gone as smoothly as it would without her. The guests loved the food.

Roberto and his staff were very professional and provided great service. We started our wedding with passed appetizers that were outstanding. We had a buffet style dinner and have absolutely no complaints. The food stayed warm and tasted phenomenal. We ended our dinner with a sorbet trio that was served to our guests and a dessert table that offered French and Italian pastries. The dessert table went over very well with our guests and everybody commented on how great the food was. Overall we had a great experience with Roberto and would also like to give a special thanks to Daniela who ran our event. We definitely recommend Better Events Catering to anyone who is looking for great food and great service.

Roberto and his staff did a tremendous job with the wedding. His staff work very hard for you all the way through the night. I usually don't judge someone based on things not going perfect but rather how they fix a problem when it arises (knowing that no matter what kind of event, it is rare things ever go exactly perfect). We had many many many different elements to the wedding, so we did have a short hiccup right before dinner started with the tables and number of seats, but Roberto and his team rectified the situation very quickly making it virtually unnoticeable to guest at attendance. We highly recommend you choose him because what we witnessed was not only how great Better Events was through the process but how terrible all the other competitors were. We emailed 14 other caterers in the area, we had a fairly large budget, and through the emails and calls, we got a response from 2. One being Better Events within 20 mins of my original email and another 2 days after the my initial email. I sent a second email to the other 12 caterers that didn't respond and all responded immediately with excuses. I did meetings with other caterers and attention to detail is what lacked. Roberto responded immediately to everything we asked for and clearly identified what we needed as to what we wanted and found a great pricing point for the food we desired.

Everyone raved about the food and the bartenders knew what they were doing, which sometimes you read reviews and hear that the bartenders don't know how to mix drinks, etc.

We had Blue Label at our wedding and the day after (we didn't ask them too) they had put aside a bottle for us, which means a lot because it shows they take care of us first before the guest (which we even forget to do ourselves during the wedding)

Some other notes, we were upstairs in the Manor during cocktail hour and I have been apart of other wedding parties where we got no appetizers and no drinks, not the case here, Roberto instructed his staff to big huge platters of food to our wedding party and brought us beverages as well. All the while they continued to check on us and clean up any mess we were briefly leaving within the hour.

I think one thing that is overlooked in many reviews, aside from food, service, etc. is the clean up and after hours portion of the wedding. I was worried, in my drunken state, that things would not get cleaned up and I would get charged something with my venue but was assured by Roberto and his staff that they walk through the property hand and hand and pick up everything. This is a relief because not only the trash but any of my guest that left items or gifts left behind was picked up and retrieved later.

So all in all, call Roberto, email Roberto, go to his office and meet with him. You will immediately be impressed and will realize that these other caterers that claim to be "Gourmet" and charge an arm and leg.....there's only two ways to make the filet, chicken or fish....either good or bad and from our experience Better Events was good and that is all we can ask for.

Roberto and his staff did an amazing job at our wedding on Saturday. I couldn't have asked for a more professional caterer with better food. Everything was amazing, on time and a great value. I would recommend Better Events Catering to anyone. Thanks again for such a great day!

Roberto Torres of Better Events was a joy to work with from the start. He is friendly and personable and really makes you feel comfortable and at ease. He is an expert in his field and can really help navigate other aspects of your event as well. Not to mention his food is all top rate!

On the night of our wedding, his daughter, Alejandra was a star! She managed our event and could not have attended to our needs any better! She was constantly refilling the glasses at the head table and making sure we were ok. Everything went off without a hitch; the guests loved the food and I could not have been more pleased.

Better Events truly made our daughter's Wedding Day "Better". We had a great venue, a beautiful day and as far as we are concerned, the best catering team our money could have paid for. Roberto and his staff made us feel special from the first meeting when we went for a tasting and to make selections for our dinner and that caring was carried through the entire event from Coctail Hour service, Dinner and dessert. There were absolutely no shortcuts taken and no matter what the question, Roberto and his team had the "right answer". They took complete charge of everything relating to the event and were on top of it from start to finish and made sure that everything was right. The Servers and Bartending staff did an excellent job taking care of over 125 guests, including the Wedding Party. We cannot speak highly enough of the services we were provided and truly appreciate all the "extra" assistance (delivering beverages, Photo Frames, Place Card holders/Name Tags, etc.) that were not part of their package. If you want a great event catered by a wonderful staff of professionals, go no further than Better Events.

Roberto and the team at Better Events could not have done more to make my day perfect! The tables were set perfectly, the food was excellent, and they executed the evening without a hitch! We had an amazing night, and our guests keep talking about how good the food was!!

They went over every detail (including things we didn't even know to ask about) and made us very comfortable with putting them in charge of the flow of the day. The food was fantastic; usually you never food as good as what you see in tastings, but we got exactly what we paid for along with a high level of professionalism. Better Events Catering had my wife and I from the very second we sat down for our tasting. The professionalism and willingness to help us with our selections was unparalleled. As my wife and I had a subtle Spanish theme to our wedding Better Events took that into account and went as far as to make us sangria, which turned out to be one of the biggest hits during the reception and cocktail hour.

The easiest way to describe how all of our guests enjoyed the food is to say that all of the plates were completely clean by the time we made our rounds to see everyone. Not to mention I've been told before that the bride and groom generally don't eat at their reception. In my case this was completely untrue because I could not make myself leave my table without finishing the wonderful meal that they prepared. The service was amazing. Our guests and ourselves go the same attention that we received when we did the original tasting.

If your looking for a caterer I would recommend going to their tasting and trying them out first hand. I have no doubts that after you try out the food that they can provide you will end up choosing them for your wedding as well.

Better Events made our wedding day incredibly special. We got married at the Old Town Hall in the City of Fairfax. The hall looked beautiful and it was all because of Better Events. The chair covers, table clothes, place settings looked elegant. The servers and staff were professional and friendly. The food looked and tasted amazing- so many compliments from our guests. We'd especially like to thank Roberto for helping us through this process, responding to all the emails, calls, questions and throwing us an amazing party.

Better Events is simply amazing! I cannot say enough good things about them. The initial tasting they did for my husband and I was great! My mom really wanted to try out the quality of food, so Roberto let us come back (at no charge!) for her to have a tasting.He was always willing to work with our requests and altered the menu as we saw fit. The staff are professional, flexible and very friendly. We had a buffet style reception and they even offered to serve the salads, dessert and coffee for us (you do not find this kind of service with out an additional charge anywhere else). The food was excellent, numerous guests commented on the quality of the food. Roberto is amazing to work with and I really suggest you use Better Events!

For myself, I have to say the crepes were delicious! Unfortunately I was only able to sample one blueberry one and wished I could have tried all the different flavors. It was also a favorite of my entire family! I also have to say that I thought the paella was actually BETTER than at the tasting. Not sure how that happened, but it was delicious. And I still am amazed at whoever does your sushi. It was delicious and so beautifully presented at the tasting and equally as delicious and well presented at the buffet. Whoever you have is a gem!

Your servers were wonderful and I was so happy to see the endless stream of appetizers being served to our guests during the cocktail hour!

I can not express how happy I was with this Catering service. Roberto was highly recommended to us for my daughter's farm wedding in Virginia Wine Country by two different friends whose opinions I highly valued. Roberto is the most professional, knowledgeable reliable person you can deal with. He is extremely responsive and listens to you and your ideas and follows through. The venue was SilverBrook Farm B&B in Purcellville, probably the most beautiful, most stunning wedding site for those who are looking for romantic, dream like wedding overlooking blue ridge mountains. Scultpture Gardens, Chandeliers, beautiful barns, and chess garden.... Its a place you will never forget. After a number of interviews with different caterers and obtaining prices, Better Events was the most reasonable caterer for our venue. They provided all the rentals,servers, appetizers (absolutely delicious and abundant)and were responsible for serving the dinner which was provided by Johnny Kabob (the most outstanding dinner- BBQ on the site, Chicken Kabob, Salmon Kabob, Lamb and Rice, Walnut and pomegranate stew, etc.,). Better Events was responsible for the setup and the clean up and I was so amazed by the level of professionalisam of their staff. They were so friendly and helpful and wanted to make sure everyone is having a good time. Roberto and his staff are the greatest. You will not be disappointed by the service you will receive. Better Events catered our wedding. My husband and I did a lot of research to find a reputable caterer. We were fortunate to have found Better Events. From the very beginning of the tasting up to the end of the reception they did a fabulous job. The staff was very professional and the food was excellent. Their prices are competitive and well worth the investment. We tried other caterersbut found them to be overpriced and their food was of low quality. Better Events price, quality of food and selection were the main reasons we chose them. The attention and service by the staff during the reception was outstanding. Our event was a success thanks to the experience and ideas by Mr. Torres. We felt comfortable that he would take care of us and not let us down and he definitely did not disappoint us. He helped us throughout the planning of the wedding and was always there when we needed his service. Like many couples looking to wed,
we wanted to avoid the horror stories of bad food or service and that’s why we did a lot of research in finding a caterer who would make our special day a success. The food is one of the main characteristics of a wedding that guests will remember in the weeks and months after the big day. Knowing this, we looked into a long list of caterer options while planning our wedding, and after meeting with several, our decision was clear the afternoon that we met with Better Events. From food quality, to presentation, to wait staff, Better Events does a great job making sure that guests will rave about the your wedding dinner, all for a very reasonable cost.

The team at Better Events has obviously been catering weddings for years, as they were able to help us think through all the best options for our big day, yet never push us towards one option over another. After contacting Better Events, we were invited to a tasting event with several other customers on a Sunday afternoon, and ended up eating enough food for lunch, dinner, and even dessert! We sampled nearly all of their appetizer and dinner options, and were able to get a good sense of their preparation and presentation skills. We were highly impressed. They even provided us pens and paper to take notes and collaborate on what would be right for our wedding. They answered all of our questions, personally worked with us on food options for the wedding, and discussed the details of the event at length with us. We met with Roberto, who personally worked with us on all subsequent decisions leading up to the big day, and personally oversaw the staff at our reception. We were most impressed by his knowledge and advice, his ability to accommodate, and his thoughtfulness throughout the entire planning process. Just one example of this thoughtfulness was reflected in their offering Peruvian mashed potatoes as one of the potato options for our Mashed Potato martini bar – as these are purple in color, which matched our purple wedding theme. The caterer is also responsible for a substantial amount of the logistical planning, including table arrangements, much of the event timing, and other details. They made it look simple, even though it's far from simple! Better Events had the best food we tasted, had the right personality and presentation, and were actually more cost effective than the majority of other caterers we considered.

We ended up choosing Better Events to cater the rehearsal dinner as well as the wedding. Both meals were great successes and received numerous compliments by our guests. The entire team was professional, polite, flexible, and very friendly. The food both nights was absolutely fantastic. We'd highly recommend Roberto and Better Events for any wedding or other catered event, and we're sure your guests will be raving about the food and the service!

Roberto Torres and Better Events Catering catered our daughter’s and son-in-law’s reception. The excellent quality of the food along with Better Events reasonable pricing were key factors in our selection. Our buffet menu included three entrees (beef tenderloin, chicken piccata, and salmon). The food was prepared to perfection and most delicious and our guests raved about their meal. Roberto provided ample amounts of food and the presentation was beautiful. My husband and I are thrilled with the quality of service we recieved from Better Events. The staff's personalities are so positive, friendly and accomodating. They always were eager to assist and bent over backwards to be accomodating. They were really sensitive and helpful. We went to 5 caterer tastings before selecting them and we found the quality and presentation of their food to be superior to others and their pricing was the most reasonable. I recommend them to every bride I meet and anyone hosting a special event of any kind.

Better Events catered both our reheasal dinner (for 90 people) and our wedding (for 150). It was important to us that both events have a very different feel, and Better Events totally got that. You never would have known that it was the same company that did both, except that the quality of food and service and the reliability were equally excellent both times. Throughout the planning process, Better Events went out of their way to be of service to us, and they were always incredibly reliable and responsive. One of the many examples of them going the extra mile for us was that they arranged a second full tasting AFTER we had already signed them as our caterer so that my parents could do a tasting while they were in town. The food was excellent at both events, and we had a ton of options to choose from - way more than other caterers we looked into. Roberto also suggested some really nice touches that we never would have thought of, such as a passed juice to be ready for the guests immediately after our outdoor June (hot) ceremony. I HIGHLY recommend this company - I can't imagine better food or service at any price (and he was very reasonable, too!)

Better Events Catering provided an excellent service for our 250+ wedding reception. In order to save money we decided to host a cocktail reception which turned out wonderfully. Better Events was willing to work within our modest budget when other vendors would not. My wife and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing catering services.

We had a great experience with Better Events. BE has an extensive tasting memo and a wide selection of menus with good prices. Roberto made a lot of helpful suggestions too. There was a 14 floor elevator ride with one elevator to get to our event so he suggested we have a champagne station in the elevator lobby. Roberto and his staff at Better Events Catering provided the best service and quality of catering we have ever experienced. Other than the family and friends at our wedding, Better Events was what made the day special. The food was delicious and served with a caring attitude and professional touch. My 84 year old grandfather even commented that he couldn't remember ever having such fine service. The wait staff was so attentive and pleasant. Never was a glass left empty. We were very happy with their flexibility during the planning stages of the wedding, especially how Better Events catered to our vegetarian and vegan entree requests with ease. We compared cost with a few other catering services and found Better Events to not only be less expensive, but to offer more variety of original recipe cuisine. Roberto and his staff provided impeccable service for our cocktail hour and reception. The food was incredible and beautifully presented. In addition, the staff was extremely professional and courteous. I was especially excited when one of the servers came over to where we were taking pictures to let the very hungry wedding party snack on some hor d'oeuvres while they waited to have their picture taken. Every detail was attended to and those special touches really meant alot to me and my guests.

Better Events Catering performed exceptionally in adverse conditions (an outdoor wedding on the day of Hurricane Hanna).
Better Events professionally handled all the changes needed (i.e. move ceremony inside tent, then setup for dinner) thereby allowing the guests and couple to enjoy the celebration.
We received numerous complements on the appetizers and dinner entrees.
Roberto's experience was also invaluable to us in the preparation phase.

Better Events was professional and affordable. My husband and I lead busy lives and had no time to taste-test caterers. We liked the professionalism of their bid and took a risk to book them without asking many questions. What a pleasant surprise! The food was delicious and the staff was incredible at the flexibility of a wedding and reception outside in the same location. When the catering staff made some minor mistakes at how I wanted the tables placed, the owner of the company sent me a letter after the wedding to apologize! It wasn't even a big deal! Highly recommended.

Roberto and his staff at Better Events are VERY professional and very kind. They made our day run smoothly and we did not have any disasters (that I am aware of). Working with Roberto was so easy and he had SO much experience and he thought of things that I had not thought of covering. The food was great and we had an awesome spread of appetizers for our cocktail hour. We interviewed 5 different catering companies and Roberto at Better Events was far superior to the others. We were able to see the different table setups that were available and on the day of our wedding everything looked just as we had seen at his warehouse - they will set it up just as you have requested so you can see what it will look like. Yum!! The food at our wedding was delicious!! When we did our tasting we were so impressed with the quality (and quantity!) of the food and the knowledge and experience of Roberto. After the tasting we joked that if the food at the wedding was half as good as the tasting (figuring tastings would always be the best) it would still be excellent, but the food at the wedding was just as wonderful as we remembered from the tasting. Roberto was great to work with leading up to the wedding and the full staff working the wedding were great. We couldn't have asked for a better day and Better Events was a huge part of it!

My wife and I got married at Oxon Hill Manor on July 31st, 2010. We checked many different caterers before selecting Better Events. We wanted a fairly extensive menu to include a cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeuvres followed by a full buffet dinner. And the food had to be at least above average to excellent, displayed well, and include some menu items that are not the cheapest. Given those conditions we thought Better Events was the best overall value. We checked some caterers that would have been cheaper, but the food was unacceptable to us. On the other hand, we didn't even bother to do a tasting at some others because their prices were absolutely outrageous (to me).

Everything at the event went according to plan and they accomodated a few changes along the way without complaint or unreasonable extra cost. So overall I was quite happy. I personally thought the food was good, and the hors d'oeuvres were excellent. The wedding reception was a success.

Only downsides were that some guests did share (when asked) that the dinner was just average, and I will admit that I was a little disappointed with the silverware, which was old and tarnished. Of course when we went for our tasting the silverware was shiny, new, and spotless. One of my little quirks is that I do appreciate nice silverware.

I still feel confident I made a good choice. As I say, I did a lot of research and checking around before hand. From all the caterers I could find, anything cheaper would have been an embarrassment and anything better would have cost way more.

The tastings at Better Events were wonderful. They went all-out to show you their best at the tastings, letting you try a large amount of everything you selected to taste. Their presentation is remarkable and their prices are affordable. Better Events were very good at keeping in touch with me over the course of the planning. On the wedding day there were a few small mistakes, but I think the reason for this was that the head caterer was injured the day of the wedding and was in the hospital during the wedding reception. Had he been there, I feel everything would have been correct.

We LOVED Better Events Catering! We are so glad we chose them to cater our wedding. Roberto was great to work with. He was extremely flexible and very accommodating. Everyone at the wedding raved about the food, especially the sorbet. We would definitely use Better Events again!

We used Better Events Catering for our wedding on July 3. Throughout the planning process, Better Events Catering met our every need and provide great advice as we planning our wedding. The service at the wedding was great and our guests were accommodated appropriately. The food was great at the wedding, even though we did not have much time to eat. The presentation of the appetizers and the meals was great. We had Roberto personally manage our event and he was wonderful. He met our every need and was great throughout our entire process. I would gladly use Better Events Catering again and would recommend them to anyone.

Better Events did a great job catering my wedding, and I would highly recommend them. Regarding food, their appetizers were incredible, and they were very attentive to the needs of the bride and groom during photo shooting. The staff was very professional and unobtrusive during cocktails and dinner. The only criticism I have is that they were almost too quick to clean up the tables, so drinks often went missing before they were finished. But overall I was impressed with how high-class the company was and how responsive they were to requests and needs.

Roberto and his team were very professional and delighted our guests with the level of their services and attention. We were disapointed in the food that was served. It did not meet the quality that we experienced at the tasting. The steak was tough and the buffet table did not have little identifiers so that the quests had some idea of what they were eating.

I used Better Events catering for both my wedding dinner and wedding brunch. Roberto, owner, was a pleasure to work with. His staff was very professional. The food for both the dinner and brunch was very good. Both meals were buffet. The presentation of the food was well done. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food.

Let me start of by saying that the food was delicious! All the items we tasted were quite good and they did a good job with the food at the wedding as well. We tasted several other of Black Horse Inn's preferred caterers and Better Events was our favorite - they were able to combine good food with formal elegance, which was exactly what we were looking for at our wedding. Roberto and his team were definitely flexible with what we wanted and needed - they created a dual entree and let us have as many entree selection options for our guests as we wanted at no extra charge. They also provided service staff at our Rehearsal Dinner and provided the bartender for that evening (catering was provided by another vendor).

In terms of service at our actual events (rehearsal and wedding) there were a couple of issues. First, the bartenders didn't seem to be too familiar with the types of liquor. We did provide our own alcohol, but we also provided a bar menu, and the types of liquor we provided were pretty standard. When my husband went to the bar at our wedding at asked for a scotch, he had to point out exactly what we wanted. We also had some trouble with the wine service at dinner. At the rehearsal dinner, Better Events provided the bartenders, and they ended up leaving the bar about 30 minutes before the end of the event. They came back with about 10 minutes left, but that was a little frustrating. At the wedding, we had four wines at the wedding and of the four we had selected two that we wanted as options to be poured for dinner. Instead, all four were poured and the waiters didn't seem to be aware of the quantities of wine remaining in the back - when I asked for more Cabernet Sauvignon, I was told there was none left, but we ended up with half a case left over. All in all, not too huge of a deal, but this was something that I had been pretty specific about with all the directions and I was a little disappointed.

In terms of the food on the wedding day, there are three issues we had. First was with the appetizers - we had selected four hors d'oeurves to be butlered during cocktail hour and they ended up only cooking/serving 3 (they left out the beef satay).
The second thing that came up was with vendor meals. We submitted the order for vendor meals per the terms of our contract and during dinner, we were told that we hadn't done so and that we would be charged extra, etc. At the time we said fine, do whatever needs to be done to get our vendors fed and we'll deal with it later. When we got home after the wedding and checked our records/contract it showed that we had ordered and paid for those meals (Roberto did apologize for this when we spoke on the phone the next day).
The final complaint we had with the food on the wedding day was the inconsistency with the portions and the accompaniments. Some of our guests only received 1 potato wedge and some received 3, some received veggies, and some didn't receive any, and some received huge portions of filet mignon and some received tiny bits. This was the only real complaint we received from our guests, and it was a little embarrassing considering how nice and formal everything else was. This was the real issue we had - all the other things were relatively minor in comparison, and probably not noticed by anyone other than our parents and us, but the portions and accompaniments/presentation were definitely noticed by our guests.

All in all, we were happy with the way that the food tasted. There were definitely things that could have been improved, but overall things worked out OK and there were no major disasters.

They provided equipment rental and service for our wedding (not food). The equipment and the quality of service was excellent and everything was on time. The staff were friendly and professional. But they really upset me when they refused to either give me a refund or provide something, ANYthing for the lower final headcount than I had already paid for. I even asked them to just take something from me and put it on a nice platter for the money they had overcharged me. I can't believe that they refused to even do that! I gave them the final headcount on time but it was still no good I guess. It was just rude and disheartening. I was also very pissed when they stood me (and the venue person) up at our final walk-through aapointment at the venue. When I called them after half an hour, he gave me the stupidest excuse instead of just apologizing and saying sorry I forgot about the appointment! Professional? Not so much!

Better Events did a great job providing lunch and appetizers for our wedding. It was a little difficult to get a hold of Roberto at times, but overall his crew did a great job and our guest were happy, so that made it all worth it for us!

The value and flexibility were probably the strongest points of this caterer. We went in for the tasting and it was great, however, on our wedding day the entree fell short by a long shot. The entree (Chicken Marsala) was extremely small (like chicken tenders rather than a breast), a lot of our guests said they were still hungry, and that the chicken was dry (which was contrary to the tasting we had went to and disappointing). The crazy part was we had a whole tray worth of chicken after the reception (why this was not put onto guests' plates, I'm not sure). The accompaniments were also varied; some received smaller portions of rice pilaf, some received a huge helping of it; same went for the steamed vegetables - very inconsistent. Despite the food at dinner, the cocktail hour was great, and the food as well - many compliments on the hors d'oeuvres.

The communication with the caterer was slacking, I had to keep track of payment amounts as sometimes they would oversee a check I had already mailed. Additionally, on the day of the run through, the caterer showed up late by half an hour. Though Roberto apologized, his excuse was that he was at another engagement and thought our run through was on another day...not very professional.

The day of the wedding, service was great until the cake cutting, my husband and I were standing at the cake table (after the DJ announced that it was time) and there were no plates, no utensils, no servers, no one to help serve the cake. The caterer had a timeline of what was to happen throughout the day and when to serve, so there was no excuse - additionally, the DJ was right next to the kitchen so how they missed the cake announcement, I'm not sure. After about 15 minutes of an awkward moment of our guests watching us do nothing in front of the cake table, someone finally comes out from the kitchen to serve the cake. This was probably the most annoying part of the whole day.

If you're looking for the most bang for your buck this is the caterer to go with, just be prepared for inevitable bumps along the road and inconsistencies - overall a mediocre caterer.

Better events food is divine, beautifully presented, and the staff is extremely professional. It is always a pleasure to work with Roberto and his staff.
