Bev Tanaka

Bev is the most wonderfully warm and friendly person! She treated my surrogate-cake-tasting family with some wonderful cakes, and was so great communicating with me and my sister (designated taster).

We are going with another cake vendor (reception location changed), but I had such a pleasant experience working with Bev for the time we had tastings that I had to write a positive recommendation! She is wonderful, and her brides are very lucky!

We just booked Bev for our wedding cake. She is so nice and helpful, you really feel like you have always known her. She put together 2 cakes for us on her lunch break with only a days notice and they were great. Her prices are the lowest you will find. She is flexible, responds to email quickly and is honest with you. The wedding is in November and I can't wait to cut into the cake(s).

Bev is one of those rare vendors you find in the wedding world that is affordable and genuinely loves working with brides and grooms. I knew I was going to hire her the first time I met her. We wanted a simple delicious cake with minimal designs, and she exceeded those expectations.

We chose her simple vanilla buttercream cake and she adjusted the sweetness exactly for us. She also offers many other flavors which she would happily email to you.

The cake was beautiful and tasted great, but it was the things she did that were not required and were out of her generosity that made me happy to have her. Firstly, I wanted a three tiered cake but she said it is usually for 75 guests while we had 60. I told her that I was willing to pay up to 75 people so I could have the three tiered, but she only charged me for 60 guests and made the three tier anyway. Secondly, my aunt and my stepmother-in-law were celebrating their birthdays on the same day. Bev made miniature birthday cakes for them without any charge and it went over so well.

I’m not sure if she will be the best option if you want a cake with more intricate designs or custom flavors, but, for a great deal on a simple, tasteful cake, definitely get in touch with her.

Bev is just one of the sweetest people I've ever met and I'm sure you will feel the same once you meet her. She takes pride in her work and it definitely shows. At our meeting she mentioned that she had been up since 1am baking a cake for a wedding that morning. Knowing that she had a wedding to do, she still agreed to meet with me that afternoon. Typically, people without sleep would be cranky but that's not Bev. Can't image her being mad at all. Ok back to cakes...

We brought the two samples she gave us, along with another cake from another baker and had a cake tasting party with our bridal party. Bev's raspberry cake was well liked and the winner for our taste test.

She is so reasonably priced, you can't go wrong.

Bev is absolutely wonderful! She's incredibly sweet and has a passion for making cakes. She was very prompt in getting back to me and I was able to schedule an appointment with her very easily. When we met, she made me two small cakes (one marble, and one with 1/2 vanilla pudding filling and 1/2 raspberry filling)...they were delicious! She has a wide range of silk flowers and doesn't offer a penny to use them. Her prices are the cheapest I've found, $2.50/slice. After meeting with her, we decided right away that we wanted to go with her; we knew we wouldn't find anyone better or more pleasurable to work with.

Bev was excellent to work with. Although I was planning the wedding from Portland, she always took time to meet with both the groom and I whenever we were in town. She was familiar with the venue and put together a great presentation even though I had changed my mind from our original plans of no topper. The cake was beyond expectations. We were glad we didn't spend an enormous amount of money at a bakery for a "typical" wedding cake. Everyone loved it so much, many had a second helping. The groom and I ate the top half later that night and the next morning.

Bev was one of our favorite vendors. I heard about her online and booked her right away. She was so sweet and extremely professional and also very affordable. At $2.25/slice for buttercream cake. She also gives you a whole minature cake for trials. We sort of took advantage of it and had 3 different cakes- marble, chocolate with raspberry filling and white with strawberry and bannana filling. We chose the latter. Her cakes taste amazing! I don't normally like frosting at all but her buttercream is to die for. On the day of, the cake looked amazing. More beautiful than I thought it would. She also provides silk flowers for you to borrow and I would recommend those as they look really good and they are free (where as you would have to pay a price to your florist which can be costly). The only thing with Bev is she doesn't do fondant and anything really fancy. She says she only does the things she knows she can do well. And she does buttercream extremely extremely well.

Bev is one of the sweetest women you'll meet while planning your wedding. Her cakes are always fresh and taste amazing. She'll only do certain cake styles (no fondant), but she has great pride in her work. Definitely one of my best vendors.

We have used Bev for multiple occasions. Our first experience was with our wedding cake which turned out beautiful, but most importantly to my husband and I was that it tasted wonderful. We did a white cake with strawberries in the center with buttercream frosting(yummy!)which was a huge hit. We didn't want the kind of cake that looks nice, but people take one bite and toss it in the trash. Not only did it meet our expectations in those departments, but it was reasonably priced. I didn't find any bakery that even came close to what I payed not to mention she delivered and set up for free. She also makes sure you have plenty of cake, even though we paid to feed 140 guests there was well over the amount needed for that. We supplied wedding flowers and she arranged them on the cake, although she did offer to supply the flowers herself. In case most of you brides are unaware bakeries freeze their cakes and then defrost them before your wedding, but Bev makes your cake fresh that morning!
Now we use her for birthdays, bridal showers, baby showers, etc... Any chance we get we recommend her to our friends. Bev is a very friendly, warm hearted woman who is easy to work with. Use her with confidence and you will not be disappointed!
