Birkdale Golf Club
At the time we were working with Birkdale they did not have a wedding coordinator and I was very concerned how it was all going to turn out, but I have to say they did a beautiful job! The golf manager is the next best thing to a planner! (They do have a new planner who is a doll) The food was very good, the service excellent, and we had so many wonderful comments. The venue is beautiful for an outdoor feeling, with Cook rental adding some decorations, it is a beautiful location for a wedding!
A lot of promises were made over the 8-9 months of planning we had before our wedding. We don’t charge for this, don’t worry about the cost for that.. we just want YOU to have the greatest wedding possible. They basically said anything to give us all the warm and fuzzies possible up until two days before.
When we stopped by for our rehearsal it was all business. We don’t have THAT in writing.. show ME the email where you said you explicitly wanted that. My mother frantically calls and says that we can’t start decorating for the venue at the agreed upon time. Tiffany, who we verified times with not 2 weeks ago, lets us know that there is a golf tournament and we cannot set up decorations. She goes on to say that she had informed my fiancée of this already. Simple mistake right? Must be a miscommunication somewhere? Except my fiancée has NO idea what she is talking about. How did a catered event just materialize in two weeks anyways? Total BS but no problem we can just push things out and Tiffany assures us things will be fine. Then another problem, we had asked for pictures and other details during the course of planning for a wedding gazebo. Turns out that it is an extra cost and when it was left off the final cost sheet. No biggie the wedding is tomorrow please get it in line.
Day of wedding and all the promises of last night have not been fulfilled. The gazebo is dirty and no effort has been made to move it, the reception hall is a disaster, and Tiffany was a mess. Guests reported sarcastic comments and rude orders coming from someone who to this point had been the highlight of our wedding to work with. She nearly had my fiancée in tears before walking down the aisle! Eventually family prevailed and I along with groomsmen moved this ton gazebo ~30 feet and my family stepped up to clean and set up for the venue. Things went off without a hitch. Tiffany on the other hand I cannot recommend for any future events. She was devastatingly disappointing.
Birkdale really is an amazing location to have a ceremony. The open lawn area was so pretty and lush. The reception venue is equally beautiful.
The best thing about Birkdale is the people. Callie & Wes were amazing to work with. They helped us schedule the entire weekend with golf and activities. They took care of everything on our wedding day and were extremely helpful leading up to the wedding.
We were so pleasantly surprised with the food and service. Everything was delicious and all of the servers worked hard to make sure everyone was taken care of. We are so happy that we chose Birkdale for our wedding!!
The reception was beautiful and the guests loved that they could walk around outside. The children were able to play outside while their parents talked and danced.
I really enjoyed having my wedding at Birkdale! We had our ceremony on the lawn, and our reception in the Palmer Pavilion (just beautiful, surrounded by French doors). As other reviewers have stated, Paula is very quick and responsive with email. She is super friendly, and really helped calm all my nerves. The food was great as well, and they were flexible with our food/drink choices. Also, Birkdale is VERY affordable compared to other places in the Charlotte area. It's a little gem! I will explain the few things I did not give Birkdale 5 stars on. They solely relate to the bartenders/servers. I felt (as did the guests) that Birkdale was very short staffed for the wedding. We were already up front doing the toasts, and the 2 (yes, only 2) servers were running around trying to pour champagne to everyone. It should have already been poured. Also, one of the bartenders was a bit younger, and she had her white button down shirt unbuttoned about halfway to her belly button, with her hot pink bra sticking out for everyone to see. This is simply not professional for a country club wedding (or for most events, for that matter). It actually became a running joke among all the guests that night. However, these points aside, we were very happy with the ceremony and reception at Birkdale! Check it out and you'll fall in love.
If you want a wedding like you see on TV go with Birkdale. Paula is the kindest woman who will help you with anything you need. Around the Charlotte area you will get more for your money if you choose Birkdale. BEAUTIFUL.
Birkdale went above and beyond to meet all of our reception needs. We meet with the head chief and he was willing to adapt to our specific food wishes. He also made the decision's about food much easier. They were willing to meet with us often to go over the details of our reception. They made sure everything during the reception went so perfectly we did not have to worry about a thing. It is a great location in Huntersville that is easy to access from many ceremony sites. The location is beautiful on the golf course with trees and ponds that photograph beautifully.
