Black Ankle is my most favorite spot to relax on a Friday night, so we didn't even consider another venue when planning our wedding. Melissa and the other staff are so friendly, accomodating, laid-back and professional. We are so thankful for all of them! My day/evening went off without a hitch and we were having a surprise wedding! We had a winter wedding, so most people were indoors the entire time, but Black Ankle still fired up the bonfires which many guests enjoyed and added a more initimate feel to the wedding. I cannot say enough good things about Black Ankle to do them justice!

Melissa is fantastic to work with. She was ready to accomodate me in all respects and is extremely friendly. Black Ankle was a gorgeous place to get married. It was romantic, beautiful, and had excellent wine, the best in Maryland in my opinion. If you are looking for something different for a small intimate wedding, it is an ideal location.

My husband wanted to get married at Black Ankle Vineyards before we even had a chance to taste the wines or talk to staff. The views of the grape vines, tasting room, and cows grazing in the distance instantly won him over. I have to agree it is one of the most beautiful places for an outdoor wedding in Maryland.
Over the next year of planning, his instincts proved to be spot on. Melissa and the rest of the staff were amazing. Their recommendations helped us find our caterer and florist who were also great. Plus, on different visits to the winery they helped us get a sense of what had and hadn't worked well at past weddings which helped us plan our own ceremony and reception. When my husband and I unexpectedly moved to Texas three months before the wedding. Black Ankles staff remained responsive and flexible. They made sure we got the wine we wanted for the wedding before they sold out and helped us keep our plans on track.
Everything that had do with Black Ankle went perfectly the day of the wedding. Even though the only alcohol that can be served at Black Ankle Vineyards are their own wines, we heard no grumbles about our lack of bar. Everyone loved the wine. Relatives "who don't usually drink wine" and those "who know their wine" all paid us compliments on our good taste.
Although it was a big plus for us, Black Ankle Vineyards is only ideal for weddings of up to 100 people due to the size of the tasting room. We weren't looking to make our wedding a huge affair so it was absolutely perfect for us.
My husband and I would recommend Black Ankle Vineyards to anyone without a single reservation. Either for a wedding, a trip to simply taste the wine and see the scenery, or participate in its other events anyone will enjoy Black Ankle Vineyards.
About Black Ankle Vineyards
The interior of our tasting room includes a hand-crafted bar, an inviting fireplace, one-of-a-kind curly maple tables, a caterer-ready kitchen, ADA-compliant bathrooms, and 1150 square feet of floor space. The site also features a covered breezeway of 430 square feet which can be enclosed, to create a cozy sunroom on bright winter days. The facility also features a delightful covered porch furnished with rocking chairs. The exterior of the tasting room includes a living roof, solar paneling, and easily accessible parking.
Perfect for an intimate or small-sized event, Black Ankle Vineyards’ tasting room is an exceptional venue that will create a memorable occasion for those with discerning tastes.
Our facility rental details are as follows:
Rental fees:
Weekends (Friday - Sunday): $1500 for 3 hours. Additional hours are charged at a rate of $300/hour.
Weekdays: (Monday - Thursday): $750 for 3 hours. Additional hours are charged at a rate of $150/hour.
The facility has a maximum capacity of 100 people unless tented.
Events must be scheduled outside our regular hours
All events need to end by 11:00 pm.
No minimum wine purchase required. User purchases all wines that are opened for pouring.
Standard 10% case discount applies to all wine purchased by user for the event.
Selection of wines and quantities to be poured may be determined in advance of the event.
Vineyard, winery and building tours are available if requested.
A guided wine tasting is available if requested.
Black Ankle Vineyards will provide staff and our Riedel glassware to serve wine.
