The cake was expensive, but that would be my only complaint! It was really really good cake- YUM! Darlene was great to work with and kept in touch to let me know what was going on!

Our wedding cake was perfect. We had a design already when we walked into the bakery and the Sheila was more than willing and able to create it. The cake ended up being a little bit expensive but we just couldn't pass it up. We could not be happier that we didn't pass it up though. The cake looked awesome and tasted amazing. Everyone at the wedding commented on how good the cake tasted. we can not wait until our 1 year anniversary so we can eat the rest! If you get a Black Forest Cake, make sure your venue saves you some for later because you will want it!

The cake here was very tasty and beautiful. Although they're a little pricey but they're worth every penny. The quality of our cake was great. I was really happy with them. They exceed our expectation in every way!

Absolutely Delicious!!! Their cakes are top notch....and I have tried lots of cakes in the past!!! Brownies are soft and delicious. You also have to stop by and request their "Brownie Cookies." A must have for pastries and wedding cakes for your special day!!!

We absolutely loved our cake and would pick BFB to do our cake all over again! Darlene was awesome and was there to help us with any questions we had and made herself easily accessible...which any perfectionist bride appreciates! She suggested things within our budget and we loved the turnout. Not only did the cake turn out looked better than we could have hoped but it tasted FABULOUS!!! Best cake I've ever had! In all of our tastings, Black Forest was the best! The cake was light, fluffy, and moist. All of the filling and frosting choices were not too sweet. We selected a cake that was not part of thier wedding cake portfolio. The bakery worked with us on making the cake into a three tier cake. It was amazing. Every one of our guests raved at how beautiful and unique the cake was and how delicious it was. We had just enought left over to save for the first anniversary. Our plan is to order the smaller version for our anniversary to share with our family.

My cake was delicious! We started out with a cake tasting and we ate the whole plate of cake and frosting and went away wanting more. I was curious to know if my wedding cake would taste that great, sometimes things can taste different in larger amounts or such. I wished I had left overs from my wedding though. It was yummy! I had the most compliments on how delicious my cake was and heard people went back for seconds. Most wedding cakes people take a bite out of and push it aside, not mine. I cannot wait for my year anniversary to eat the complimentary cake. Taste was the biggest point for me. The baker was just as good. I had wanted a different from the norm cake and she worked with me to make that happen. Later I had called to change the design of the cake and all went well. She had worked with me on trying to keep within my budget which was really helpful. I didn't feel like it was a bother to her at all. I highly recommend Black Forest Bakery to everyone.

Loved our wedding cake vendor, too! Black Forest Bakery was extremely delicious, allowed us to use a different flavor for each layer, and decorated it exactly how we wanted. Our taste test was the most fun. Upon our arrival there was a HUGE plate of all different types of cake and fillings for us to arrange and taste. Then the owner of the bakery sat with us personally to review what the cake would look like, style, and design. We were very pleased and they were extremely affordable!

Darlene and her husband are fabulous. They had a delicious assortment of cakes, creams and fruit fillings at the tasting. We wanted a wedding cake that would coordinate with our wine tasting venue so I wanted the grape theme but suttle. They created a cake that was so delicious people were asking for a 2nd slice! We selected a marble cake with bavarian cream and raspberry filling, moist and delicious! One guest liked it so much they went to the their bakery on Monday to order a cake for them with the same fillings. Can't ask for a better compliment than that. The delivery was right on schedule and they are the nicest people to work with. Pam & Scott

I love blackforest cafe...I eat lunch and breakfast there all the time. Our wedding cake tasted AMAZING...you usually never say that about wedding cakes! However, I gave them a color swatch of the green they were supposed to use (it was lime green) and the cake turned out to be a very light pastel almost sage green and it totally clashed with all the decorations :( I feel like my experience was kinda a fluke because everyone elses has been great..but other than that they were great and the cake tasted great!

My mom and I cake-tasted at 3 places before finally going to Black Forest Bakery. When tasting their samples, only one word popped in my head...WOW!!! The cake's smooth texture and heavenly taste is just beautiful by itself! Then, we continued to taste the bavarian fillings and buttercream frosting....just as delicious! After my taste buds were transported to a dream state, I finally came back to reality and realized that my search was complete: I would definitely be ordering my cake from Black Forest. The entire experience was perfect. Darlene is a joy to work with and created the cake just how I envisioned. The cake arrived on time, delicious and gorgeous. And, they gave us a free 1 year anniversary cake which brought back all the wonderful memories of our wedding day. If you go with Black Forest, you will be happy you did.

The cake at Black Forest Bakery is truly delicious and I was really happy with the look of our wedding cake. I didn't research a lot of other bakeries before booking them, and found out later that the price was a bit high. A friend of mine got her wedding cake for about half what I paid and the quality was comparable... Otherwise I was really happy with the outcome though.

We were thrilled with our Black Forest Bakery experience. We found their tasting set up very helpful and creative, allowing us to mix and match different cakes with different fillings and frostings. Darlene was not only professional, she was also so sweet and excited for us. They did a great job keeping the surprise grooms cake a surprise. The cakes were incredible, not just beautiful but so tasty! Their fondant is awesome. We were blown away by how amazing the topsy turvey wedding cake turned out and how the US Soccer grooms cake looked just like the picture I had given them. We received so many compliments on the delicious cake from our guests. Many people said they had seconds! Black Forest Bakery was a pleasure to work with and made our cakes truly special. We're looking forward to using them again for future events.

The people at Black Forest were very nice and great to work with. The cake tasted fantastic! It was really expensive though for what we got. We had a 3 tier chocolate fondandt cake with a light pink trim....that was it....NO flowers, NO decoration of any kind....very, very plain and it was $500 to feed 72 people. If it were up to me, I would have gone else where as there are a lot of other places w/better pricing who would have done the shape I wanted with lots of sugar flowers and cystal decorations...BUT my husband HAD TO HAVE a chocolate cake and this one by far tasted the best.

Our wedding had 165 guests and Black Forest Bakery provided the perfect wedding cake. It was delivered on-time looking gorgeous and tasting delicious. The staff is warm and welcoming. The bakery provides an amazing variety of styles and flavors, all that may be sampled in advance. You can use this bakery with complete confidence that evey detail will be excellent!

Our wedding cake came out beautiful. The color swatch that gave to Darlene was the exact match of the color of ribbon they made. I received many complements on how the cake looked and tasted. I would most definitely recommend Black Forest Cafe for wedding cakes.

WOW! WOW isn't even an appropriate word- I am not sure what is! OUR CAKE WAS AMAZING! We had a 3-tier, white cake with rasberry and bavarian cream, covered in white chocolate fondant, white chocolate seashells, and edible pearls. It was extraordinary. Darlene customized it and designed it with us. The cake was delicious beyond comparison. I expected it to be good, but I was beyond pleased with it. I was asked by everyone there, "Who did your cake?" David and I both looked at each other when we took our first bites and said "WOW!"... then, later that night, we ate a slice of our top tier. There was no way we could wait a whole year to have another piece of it! Darlene, if you read this- Thank you so much! We loved it, loved it, loved it! :)

We got our cake from here in 2008. I believe we worked with the owner for our tasting, and she was Great! The cake was beautiful, and Everyone still talks about how good the cake was.

Darlene and Hannu do amazing things with pastries and cakes. I was blessed to have their cake at our wedding, because they packed it perfectly and my parents and sister drove it from Lake Forest to Las Vegas, where we got married. It was such a treat, because it was custom made, just for us and our wedding. It was beautiful, exactly what we wanted, but it was also DELICIOUS. I wanted a very small cake, but they managed to pack two decadent flavors into two layers, and there was absolutely none left. It was perfect and a big hit, and I highly recommend their services.

Our cake was beautiful - we chose a design that Darlene said was called Surf and Sand, and it was very elegant. The tasting was delicious, and the cake was so moist on the day of. One of our guests thought the white chocolate fondant was the best frosting she'd ever tasted.

Darlene is very professional and organized. Cakes from Black Forest aren't cheap, but well worth the money you pay for a beautiful, tasty cake.

Black Forest Bakery makes an excellent wedding cake! I gave them a picture of the cake I wanted and they did a wonderful job of recreating it. Not only was the cake beautiful but it was also very good!! We got a number of compliments from our guests! There are a number of cake flavors and fillings to choose from and you can make an appointment for a free wedding cake consultation. The owner, Darlene, can make anything possible and is great about giving her professional advice.

The Black Forest Bakery has been around since I was a girl. I'd go visit the bakery with my sister to pick up breakfast goodies. I was delighted to be able to have my uncle order our cake from there for our wedding at the Coto de Caza Golf and Raquet Club. If you visit the store, the cakes are even more beautiful than those depicted on the website. The level of creativity and refinedness... it's A+. We used their online samples to figure out what we wanted and asked for a hybrid of two styles. It was beautiful and so delicious. The chocolate cake was moist and the raspberry filling made my husband so happy. I recommend them to anyone! From what my uncle told me, they were very flexible and helpful. I'm not sure about the cost of the cake since it was his gift to us.

No wonder our hotel/caterer recommended Black Forest Bakery & Cafe to do our wedding cake. Darlene is as lovely and sweet as the cakes she makes! We enjoyed our experience with them from the cake tasting to having our first slice as husband and wife at our reception. The cakes are light and the fillings are creamy and yummy!
