Bodega Harbour Yacht Club
We had a beach ceremony and reception in August. The venues were beautiful and the staff was overall friendly an easy to work with. Catering through Bluewater Bistro was delicious and we were very happy with it. We were told they'd be able to order in any wine we wanted, but that didn't prove accurate -- when we suggested a wine we wanted, catering said that they wouldn't order it because they didn't think they could sell the excess, and that we'd need to buy the wine ourselves and pay the $20 a bottle corkage. We opted to go with wine from their set menu, which was still good, but we were a little disappointed.
Amanda was very friendly and accommodating. Haley (the caterer) less so. I'm not sure if there were communication issues between the two, but it seemed like Amanda would tell us one thing and Haley another. Nothing major, it was mostly things like the wine issue, which wasn't a big deal, but there was an issue during the week of the wedding that we weren’t sure was going to be resolved in time. A solution was found, but it was worrisome.
I had some communication issues with email -- for some reason, my email wouldn't go through to Amanda or Haley, not even spam filters. We had to conduct a lot of business over the phone. My mother's email was fine. Amanda would respond quickly, but sometimes we had to play phone tag with Haley for a while.
All of this aside, I was really very happy overall with the venue and the service. It was a beautiful setting for my wedding and the food and drinks were wonderful. I ordered a signature cocktail with a specialty liquor that was a little troublesome to find, and they accommodated me. Everything went as smoothly as it could possibly go. I would recommend this venue, slight communication issues aside. Considering the cost of other venues in Sonoma County, this venue is well worth the money. And it's considerably less expensive than being married at a winery. Attend one of their open houses!
An amazing venue with an amazing view! Overall, the evening went smoothly and the staff was helpful, especially with a couple of mid-event issues (like how I forgot to email the meal chart, but they took care of everything). It was wonderful to have helpful and attentive staff before and during the event. Amanda and Hayley were very helpful coordinating with me from out of state.
I would use this vendor again, though I wouldn't necessarily trust their ability to avoid allergens. In their defense, the whole menu had to be free of soy and tree nuts, and two guests had food allergies as well, so it couldn't have been an easy meal to prepare. But a good friend who is extremely allergic to dairy was served vegetables with butter on them. When she directly asked the chef, after thinking she had tasted butter, he admitted there was some on the vegetables without apology. She spent the night sick on a bathroom floor. Luckily, she didn't tell me about it until the next day, as it could have put a serious damper on my festive mood on my wedding day. Everyone makes mistakes, but a staff member should have apologized at the very least. This is literally the only reason I didn't rate a perfect five stars.

I am so very sorry about this incident. This is the first I heard about it or I would have been happy to apologize much earlier. Please know that this was certainly just an accident and we handle allergy issues with the utmost care and attention.
I am so glad that the rest of your wedding was wonderful and hope that you will accept our most sincere apologies for this oversight.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your special day!
It was a very beautiful place to have a wedding. Amanda was great. The cater coordinator was not to responsive to my e-mails and things I wanted layed out for dinner was not the way I wanted luckily I had a friend that caught it and fixed it herself for us.
Amanda and Hayley were AMAZING!!! Amanda completely set us at ease, made all the plans (even budget!) easy and FUN! I would recommend The Yacht Club to everyone wanting a beach wedding! If we had any changes, both gals made it non-stressful on us. The staff at the reception was professional, personable, and really worked hard to make the day about us.. (which I'm not used to!). Thank you for making our wedding soooo special! (hey, they even made the weather perfect for us! Ha! Ha!)

Thanks Shauna! You are SO right.... the weather that evening was just perfect. We hope you will send photos so we can show you off to other potential brides. Thank you for letting us be of service on your big day.
Every thing was wonderful. The staff never let a tray go dry and even went so far as to get special food for the children (tacos). The food was incredible. Every guest that was there commented multiple times about how good the food was and about the service. We can't say enough about your facility. Thank you for making my special day so wounderful. I didn't have any stress, I was able to enjoy being with my family and not worry about anything else. I will recomend you to anyone looking to schedual an event or even for a place to have dinner. Your chief is incredible!
From the proposal to the wedding, I had two months to get EVERYTHING done and I had never previously pictured anything for my wedding except that our dream was to get married at the coast.
I initially thought the Bodega Harbour Yacht Club would be much more expensive then any other vendors, a judgment solely based off of their name. After a couple of weeks searching through vendors online (oh ya, long distance planning), I decided to request more information. I was definitely wrong and now I'm so thankful I did that.
Amanda Vineyard is AMAZING. She responded to my initial request and helped/guided me through the whole process. Did I mention I really had no idea what I needed etc? She not only asked me for information they needed but suggested things I never would have thought about. She responded to all of my emails promptly and guided me in all of the right directions. She also suggested the DJ, florist and cake vendor which all ended up being PERFECT.
Haley, the head caterer, was great. I worked with her a lot less but I didn't have any worries on the big day so she obviously did her job wonderfully! Our guests praised her work all night.
We got our wish to get married on the beach, which we were set on doing unless it was pouring rain once we decided on the Yacht Club. It was 70+ degrees that day and not a cloud in the sky, but for those of you concerned about misty fog, the indoor location for the ceremony is gorgeous too.
I could go on and on, but mainly: the venue is great. The staff is amazing. The price was good for everything we wanted. I was never once stressed on the day, and the weeks leading up to it felt like a breeze compared to the stress I could have faced--much thanks to Amanda!!
I am so glad we found the Bodega Harbour Yacht Club--I must say they made planning the wedding pretty easy. They set everything up according to my instructions, and when we had a spike in our guest list (thanks to family that insisted we HAD to invite an additional 40 people--and a few others that RSVP'ed for 6+ instead of themselves and a guest) Hayley & Amanda worked wonders to adjust things around so the wedding stayed within budget!
If I were to get married all over again--I would STILL choose to go to the Yacht Club--it was a beautiful, and about as perfect as any day could be!
We had our reception here in the Fall of 2010 and overall we had a wonderful experience and a day that went without a glitch. This place is a wonderful value, especially compared to many other sites in the area. The reception site has a unique layout with the dinner tables upstairs and the dance floor, bar and comfortable seating downstairs. I think the layout helped the night flow really well and encouraged everyone to be together on the dance floor or sitting on the couches by the fireplace. It made for a great party! Hayley and Amanda were very flexible and allowed us to add our own touches wherever we wanted. They gave us lots of time to come in a set up the morning of the event which was really helpful. They use their own in house catering which is a plus when you are already working with lots of other vendors. The food and wine was excellent, we had a plated dinner with steak/salmon/vegetarian and they even made vegan and kid meals for a few of our guests. Our package included a cake from 'Your Sweet Expectations' (we had cupcakes) and they might have been the best I've ever had.
My only complaint is that we had some difficulty communicating with them at times. It is almost impossible to speak to them on the phone. Lots of leaving messages and phone tag. Email is the best way but sometimes their responses were slow or they were confused about changes we had made to our dinner or bar choices, or number of attendees. This was stressful in the last few weeks prior to our wedding. However, I will again say that it all ended up working out just fine on the actual day of the event.
We had a simple wedding reception luncheon at the Blue Water Bistro. Leading up to the day, Amanda made it very easy to select menu items and organize the event. She was very open to table arrangement ideas and assisting in having things set the way we wanted it. On the day, even though we had our own table arrangements, they had their own beautiful flowers there too, just in case we didn't have anything- I thought that was incredibly thoughtful. The food was absolutely superb. Everyone LOVED the salmon with beurre blanc sauce- cooked to perfection. The tri-tip was equally delicious. Everyone was still talking about the food long after we had left. I have no complaints whatsoever- everything went so smoothly. The staff were attentive but very much behind the scenes. They worked hard to make our event run smoothly, even though it was a only small group of us.
I would recommend the Blue Water Bistro to anyone looking to hold an event there.
My husband and I were married here on August 21 and it was an absolutely amazing wedding! The idea of a beach wedding really appealed to both of us and from the moment we first looked at the site and decided to book the venue we were very glad we did! The value for the money was fantastic and Amanda and Hayley were both really great to work with. They were both very flexible and accomodating to us and really worked hard to make it a special day for us. They pride themselves on making each couple's experience unique and special and I think they more than delivered on that promise! Thank you for making our wedding so amazing and memorable!
I just recently got married at the Bodega Harbor Yacht Club, and I have to say that I don't have a single complaint.
Why I loved it here:
- The venue is great, but is completely overshadowed by the beautiful panoramic view of Bodega Bay. We decided to not do the beach ceremony due to the inconsistency of Bodega Bay weather, and instead got married inside the Yacht Club in front of the panoramic windows. We had a small party of 50 people (but they could have easily fit more), and it worked out perfectly. Also, one of my favorite parts of the Yacht club is the lounge area in front of their gorgeous fireplace. It was a great place to relax and chat with our guests.
- Due to the 2 floors, we easily had the ceremony downstairs and dinner upstairs. While we ate upstairs, the downstairs was set up for the reception. Everything worked out so seamlessly. I never once saw staff running around moving chairs.
- The staff was unbelievably friendly, and felt like part of the family by the end of the night. The management is really helpful and extremely flexible with changes / additions.
- The food was fantastic. They set everything up and broke it all down so well without disturbing the guests that it almost seemed like the food just appeared. I know that may seem like hyperbole....but they were really fantastic.
- For everything that you receive, the overall cost is really competitive. What is really great, is that other than DJ & Photographers, the Yacht Club really can be a one stop shop for setting up your wedding. Also, they didn't tack on a bunch of silly extra charges.
I hope I am not overdoing this to the point that you think that I am just yanking your chain. My experience with the Yacht Club and their staff was better than I could have ever expected. They are patient and extremely friendly.
I am so grateful to the Bodega Bay Yacht Club staff and management for making my wedding unforgetable!
This probably goes without saying, but I highly recommend this venue!
The entire staff at Bodega Harbour Yacht Club was fabulous! Everyone answered any and all questions in a timely manor. The price was a great deal, the setting was so natural and elegant as is and needed little decorations. We were all very pleased with our day. The food was great and there was so much of it for another great price. My husband and I have nothing but great things to say about our day. It was a dream come true!
Be sure you let Amaanda Vineyard help you with your wedding she is great to work with.
We chose this venue because we wanted to have a beach ceremony and an on-the-water reception. The Harbor Club provided both. The price includes tables, chairs, tablecloths, dishes, silver, etc...
First thing you should know is that there are not, nor have there ever been, any yachts in Bodega Bay. It is a fishing village, so don't expect to see anything "yacht-ish" there. In fact, we described it as "the Harbor Club" on our invitations so that the guests did not get the wrong idea.
Having said that, we really loved the site and had a very easy time working with each and every person there, save for the very rude and shockingly unprofessional Rosalie Lang (controller/accounts receivable). But for her lack of professionalism, I would have given very close to 5-stars across the board.
The dinner takes place upstairs and cocktails, dancing and cake downstairs. The ceiling upstairs is not that high, but our 6'8" best man had no troubles and we were sitting for dinner anyway. Other than that, I loved the location! There is a little "chill area" with sofas in front of a stone fireplace (gas) where older/younger/prego/bad-shoe-wearing guests can relax, yet still be part of the party. The dance floor was big enough for us and our 100 or so guests to get their groove on.
The beach ceremony site was lovely. They set up chairs and the wedding party walks in over a wooden staircase, giving a fun casual/formal feel to the event. Our guys wore tuxes and they did not look at all out-of-place, but one could go casual with this set-up also. The sand on Doran is fine, smooth and soft. The waves were beautiful and our guests couldn't get enough of the shore birds.
Amanda was our contact on the sales end and Hayley on the catering end. Both were superb and I would not hesitate to recommend either one to my best friends, and to you, dear reader. ;->
The food was far better than I expected. We had a plated meal (steak, salmon or vegi pasta). All three were wonderful, particularly the salmon, which was cooked perfectly. Many guests came up to me and raved about the food. I did not see any plates that werent scraped clean. The app's all went, too, which made me very happy.
All in all, a wonderful experience .... Hayley, if you are reading this, please give your A/R woman a lesson is customer service! She is the obvious weak link in your otherwise unblemished chain of excellence.
The service and location was absolutely perfect. Everything went off without a single hitch. I would highly recommend this location for any event or wedding. We could not be more pleased and have the memories to last a lifetime. All of the pictures we took, from the beach ceremony to the cake cutting facing the bay, were gorgeous.
The Bodega Harbour Yacht Club was actually the first place we had looked at. It was perfect, but I couldn't believe that we would find the perfect place on the first try. So we schduled other viewings, but we always had the yacht club in the back of our minds. It had so much character and had a wonderful bay veiw. My husband loved the place. Although, I liked it too, I was a little hesitant because of its rustic feel. In the end I was so happy that we booked them for our reception. Once it was all decorated precisely how we wanted it was very romantic. We lucked out with the weather that day. Which is very rare in Bodega. The sunset was beautiful and we could watch it from anywhere inside the building.
They also offer their catering services. I didn't want to be stuck with a place that using their food & beverage service was their policy, but I think its actually the way to do. It eliminated the hassle of having to interview caterers and beverage services. They had a great selection of appetizers & dinner plates. We received lots of compliments of the food after the wedding.
Haley Williams is the event coordinator at the Yacht Club and she was great to work with on the food and pricing. She picked a menu for us that was affordable and tasty!
There was a change of staff last year and we had two wedding coordinators at the Yacht Club. They were both disorganized, unfriendly, and unhelpful. Both were slow to respond to questions and concerns (slow = often took weeks to reply emails). We weren't able to do any taste-testing beforehand either.
On the day of the wedding, however, the catering staff was AWESOME. If it weren't for them, I would give a one-star rating for all of the above categories.

You are correct. Our staff here has since changed 100% and in 2007 we added a new Chef, Patrick Daleiden, a new Catering Coordinator, Hayley Giribaldi and myself, Amanda Vineyard in the Sales and Marketing department. You can see from the additional comments on our page that we are now a well oiled machine and treat each guest with the respect and courtesy that they dserve. We work well together and always strive to make every event the best it can be.
AND- the catering is even better than ever.
Thank you for your comments.
Bodega Yacht Club has it ALL! Ambiance, an incredible Event Planner, exceptional Staff and excellent food! They are easy to work with and will make your wedding or event a dream come true.
What a beautiful venue. With sweeping ocean views, a flawless beach ceremony location and delicious food- this is a perfect romantic venue. the prices are great too- hard to believe with this type of venue.
Beautiful locations and so easy to work with.
beautiful venue, great Sunday brunches too.
I've worked at the Bodega Bay Yacht Club many times. It's a charming little venue, that really captures the ocean flair. Right on Bodega Bay, it's a great space for a party. The floor to ceiling windows looking over the water, the stone fireplace, the lounge area and hardwood dance floor.....
The staff is always very helpful, and takes good care of their clients. I've had several rockin' dance parties here..... this is an ideal location for 75-100 people.... if you get above about 125, it gets a little tight.
If you are looking for the "beach feeling" without the hassle of actually being on the beach for the reception (though you can have your ceremony on their semi-private beach), The Yacht Club is the place for you.
