My husband and I were very low-key wedding planners who weren't interested in all the frills that always seem to come with a "hotel package". We only wanted a few things in a reception site: close enough to Boston for out of town guests to be able to enjoy the visit, easy to get around, affordable to stay overnight, and comfortable and easy people to work with. After a few visits to other hotels around the area, the Marriott was the hands-down winner. They made the planning part easy, seemed to care about who we were and what we actually wanted instead of fitting us in a cookie cutter "one wedding fits all" category. We liked them so much for the reception planning that we ended up having our rehearsal dinner in the bar downstairs, the ceremony in an adjoining ballroom, and the Sunday brunch the next day there too.
We also had the unfortunate circumstance of having to reschedule the wedding the week before, when a family illness threw a wrench into our months and months of plans. The Marriott could not have been more understanding or accommodating--when we told our friends, no one could believe our hotel had been so kind-hearted in helping us out when everything else seemed to be going wrong.
And one special person we will always remember is Jen Wanamaker, who took it upon herself to make it as easy on us as possible, from meeting with us on Saturdays and weeknights so we wouldn't have to miss work, to walking us through every step and finding every possible way to work the budget and timing around so it was perfect for what we wanted and could afford.
After the wedding, the one comment we keep hearing from our guests is that the wedding was so convenient for everyone--on the T, one-stop shop (no hustling from ceremony to reception to overnight hotel), good food that was flexible enough to accommodate all the dietary restrictions and requests for the meal, and a wonderful place to spend the weekend. The rooms were affordable enough that we didn't feel like we were overly burdening out of town guests who had to pay for travel and accommodations but still nice enough (and with amazing views!) that no one felt like we were skimping on the details.
I only wish I could give this hotel 6 stars.
My husband and I just had our wedding at the Cambridge Marriott this past June. The location was perfect for our guests, right next to the T in Kendall Sq. and extremely close to Boston. The interior of the hotel ballroom was recently updated with new paint and carpeting so it was clean and fresh for our event. There also is a gorgeous roof top garden available for photos and/or the cocktail hour.
The staff were attentive and helpful through the entire process--it was really a joy to work with all of them. It certainly quelled my nerves on our wedding day to know I was in such good hands! During and after our wedding we were complimented so many times on the quality of the food and service. The Cambridge Marriott truly made our day wonderful, we're so happy we chose the hotel as our venue!

A little more expensive than other venues we looked at, but well worth the extra cost. They went above and beyond on our wedding day and gave us the perfect day to remember.

Having my wedding at the Boston Marriott Cambridge was a fantastic experience. From start to finish, all of the people and services were wonderful. The Marriott raises the bar when it comes to quality and service, and my wedding was no exception. I highly recommend this hotel for any wedding or function, and am very thankful to all the staff for my first rate experience.

This place is great, they offer alot a flexbility with there packages. Its not cut and dry, its like building your own wedding package around what they offer. Romy and Jen are two of the people to talk to. And the rooftop garden is lovely.

The good: they did a fairly good job on the day of the wedding. The food was good and there were no issues that resulted from their side.The bad: payment processing and communication was one of the worst we had to deal with across all vendors. Seems like different parts of the hotel were not well integrated - accounting, event planning etc. The ugly: the event manager changed in midst of the planning and caused a month of inactivity and unresponsiveness.
My experience with The Boston Marriott in Cambrige was wonderful. The staff was on point with everything. The set up was beautiful and I enjoyed my time their as a photographer. I highly recommend The Boston Marriott Cambrige.
Great venue and wonderful staff!! Always an easy set-up and fun place to rock a party. I have recommended the Marriot many times to clients looking in the Metro-Boston area..and they have always been satisfied...
