Actually, they are no longer operating with that policy. Most spaces are still only available after library hours, but each room has its own fee. They aren't restricted to only four weddings anymore either.

The Central Branch of the Boston Public Library allows up to 4 weddings per year as approved by the board of directors. It requires a large donation to get in there, but the surroundings and ambience are well worth it if it is in your price range. Catering is done by the in-house catering staff for Sebastian's and Novel Cafe. The reception does have to be held after public hours at the library, but then it is incredibly exclusive, with the entire library only open for you and your guests.
