Bridal Alterations by Anahit

I didn't get my dress at VOWS, but Anahit took me anyway. I was so happy because the reviews clearly show she is the best. Well, she is. She knows what she is doing and does not try to sell you. I am so happy with how my dress turned out!

For our May 2011 wedding, I bought a beautiful Vera Wang gown in December 2010...and found out I was pregnant a few weeks later. This wonderful yet unexpected news led to only one dilemma--what to do with the dress? Anahit was a marvel. She found ways to creatively alter the gown so that it maintained its gorgeous Vera-ness...and hid the bump (we had decided to tell our families about the baby at the wedding). Added to that, she refused to charge me for additional pregnancy-related alterations. This was particularly generous given the quality of her skills--even my grandma, who was quite the needleworker in her day, would not believe the precision and artistry. Anahit's shop is spotlessly clean and her advice on hemlines, straps, etc is totally spot-on. She is the consummate professional--and at a time when I wasn't able to tell really anyone about the baby, she was also a wonderfully kind ear!

I've been to Anahit for my own wedding dress and been there with two friends for theirs. She is very strong willed, but I will say that in most of the cases that I saw, she's been right. My dress looked and fit perfect on the day of my wedding.

Anahit is a very talented seamstress. The alterations to my dress came out perfect. She speaks her mind but also listens to what you want. She also offers great tips about accessories, hair, etc.

I brought my wedding dress to Anahit for alterations last Nov/Dec for a March wedding across the country. She altered the chest and hips and hemmed it up a bit. In addition, since it was strapless, I really wanted to make sure it stayed on the whole day. She sewed in the undergarment which was great advice and it worked! In addition she advised me to change the trim on my veil, and it was a beautiful suggestion. She is a little bit expensive but, she really knows what she is doing, and I would highly recommend her to any of my friends for bridal alterations!

Anahit is an artist - she can immediately see how a dress is constructed and how she should alter it. She took my dress in, added a built in bra, and made a beautiful and ornate bustle that perfectly suited the dress. She also made a gorgeous veil, for which she matched the silver edging thread to silver threads in the dress. She can be blunt, and she is super busy so fittings need to be booked ahead of time, but she is worth it.

I bought my dress at Vows and went with Anahit with alterations. The dress came out better than I expected since it was a size too big when I bought it. Also she handmade a beautiful veil that was inspired by my dress.

Awesome place to get alterations, she does a great job. The only downfall is she's quite expensive. Right across the street from Vows bridal shop!

Stand your ground and you'll have a beautiful dress"I bought my dress at the Filene's Basement Running of the Brides and took the gown to Anahit for alterations based on the recommendations of two friends who had stunning alterations done by Anahit. Anahit is very very skilled. The bustle she made was simple and elegant and maintained the look and integrity of the gown. The beadwork repairs were flawless. Words of warning:Anahit knows how she likes things and can seem snappy at times. My gown needed to be taken in, but that was going to be labor intensive so Anahit stitched the bust tighter. I insisted that it made the line less flattering and made my bust ooze out over top and eventually gave up arguing. I went back for an additional fitting when I decided that I was really going to be uncomfortable with the top of the gown cutting in as such (it's a heavy gown meant to be supported by more than breasts alone). This time she agreed, apologized, and cut the prior stitches out and said it would be fine. I didn't try to argue for the cost of the stitches back. (She's very intimidating even if you are there with a friend for moral support.) The weight of the dress pulled itself down so that by the end of the reception you can see the gown dragging on the floor in the photos. She does do incredible alterations - but you need to be just as strong willed as she is.
