Brooklyn Bridge Park

So there are a lot of things that don't really apply here as far as a traditional review goes. I would give this place more than a 2.6 overall star rating considering that it was exactly what we wanted. The obvious draw to this spot for a ceremony venue is the atmosphere and the view. Another perk is the fantastic options for photo ops provided by the cool surrounding spaces (the old tobacco factory, the carousel, the side streets of DUMBO). And if you specifically opt to use the Main Street Pebble Beach location (there are two other park locations at which weddings are allowed), there is built-in seating for your guests (the granite amphitheater-style steps). But this is truly a do-it-yourself kind of venue choice. The permit price is steep-$400- and doesn't provide you with anything more than the right to use the space over any other weddings that might be trying to crash the space guerrilla-style. The park doesn't provide any kind of special clean-up, set-up or break-down, or area policing. We had to make sure all of this was taken care of by other vendors or wedding party helpers. All that being said, the people at the park's office were very up-front about all of this information and were always good about returning calls and emails to answer our questions. In the end, it was totally worth it to pay the fee to secure this spot for our wedding day. If you go with the park for your wedding, make sure you do your homework and read all the fine print and get your application in early.
