Cake City made a beautiful cake for us. After paying total for cake and delivery charge, the day before I received an invoice of another delivery charge. We paid fifty the same day as our cake tasting, then had to pay another 100. It was ridiculous. They're not very repsonsible and the husband is VERY rude. I was hung up on after discussing the add on delivery charge. So professionalism? NONE. Also, she had said the vanilla with raspberry filling was their most requested. Definently tasted sour and the day after our wedding it was worse. The chocolate on chocolate was good. I was displeased and upset on how I was treated.

We have waited a long time to respond to this review because we wanted to be calm and fair. We really did try to please this couple and gave them a free tasting when they came in to see us. I don't recall if they tasted the raspberry. We use fresh raspberry coulis, not the raspberry flavored jelly you find in a donut. We have never had the raspberries go sour and are very sorry if that was the case. If it was a matter of expecting the sugary glop instead, I can't help that. We really do our best to keep all of our recipes the same and very precise, quality and flavor being our main focus.
There were a few problems with this order and we did our best to make their experience awesome in spite of the problems. The couple wanted a $1500 cake for a $500 gift certificate which they presented at the end of the lengthy design consultation. When I explained the certificate wording said that it was a value up to that amount and that any extras would need to be paid by them, the bride stonewalled me, and being the softie that I am, I gave in. We ended up making a $1500 cake for them, and were glad to do it.
Then we find out that they were not correct in their driving time to the venue. We found out it was a 3 hour round trip, not an hour and a half. We had to make accommodations for the deliveries of other brides' wedding cakes in order to get this cake to the venue on time.
I am really sorry for the bride's experience. I was there when my husband spoke with her on the phone and I never heard him to be rude. He told me she was yelling at him and giving him a hard time. There is always two sides to the story, and again, I am sorry if she thought her experience was less than she had hoped. We really go out of our way to make the brides happy and provide a gourmet dessert with our cake.

Cake City is a cake design studio producing cakes for weddings and other special occasions as well as a retail bakery featuring fresh, scratch-made pastries, scones, croissants, petit fours, eclairs, and cheesecake which has been compared favorably with that most famous New York cheesecake! We carry a large selection of French macarons (gluten-free) with at least 10 - 12 flavors on hand all of the time. We can provide individual desserts for dessert tables, croquembouche made of profiteroles or macarons.
Our most favorite is making wedding cakes! We make each cake fresh and use only Italian meringue buttercream, nothing made from shortening, just real European-style butter. We use fresh fruits, never any jelly-donut type fillings, fresh pastry creams made with real milk and eggs, and luscious chocolate ganache made with real Belgian chocolate and fresh cream.
We always have free samples of our macarons which reflect the flavor profiles of our cakes and fillings. You can also try a petit four or a slice of cheesecake. If you wish to have a formal cake tasting, we charge $25 to prepare the tasting for you and to set aside an hour for the tasting and consultation. The price of the tasting is deducted from your cake once you contract with us for your cake.
We love to decorate and we love to make cakes that taste great! We make sure our cakes arrive on time, and we love to make brides happy! All of this comes together to make the very best wedding cake and to help make your special day absolutely wonderful!
