The service and quality seem to vary greatly by location. I definitely had a rocky start at my tasting with both the Doral and Coral Gables locations, but Coral Gables eventually rectified it. That being said, based on their customer service, I would had never booked them if they weren't included in our venue package. My best advice is to avoid the weekends and make an appointment (get the bookers name!) to taste FRESH cake and the fillings you want.
As a package cake, I dislike that they charged us extra for (1) making the buttercreme a color other than ivory and (2) for filling to be added in between the layers (is there someone that has no filling in their cake?). I feel that this is something that should be included in our package cake. However, this might be more of something to bring up with the venue instead.
On the day of our wedding, our cake itself was gorgeous and the perfect color, the buttercreme was so smooth and looked just like fondant! However, the orange flavor was not like our tasting and was much too intense and the texture wasn't so good. It was coarse and it was clear that the cake was not fresh. The strawberry filling also did not taste the same as the tasting and was a really thin layer. Overall, I was quite disappointed in the taste, but happy with the appearance. If you have a choice in bakers, I recommend that you look elsewhere and go with a smaller baker that isn't so hit-or-miss.
We didn't have the greatest experience with the Doral location from the very beginning. The problem was that the quotes we were getting for the cake we wanted were just way too high, and we couldn't justify the cost but no one was willing to try to come up with something that we liked and could afford. The staff at the Doral location was just rude. From the first time I walked in, everyone who helped us had an attitude. Edda's was basically our only choice because Ana Paz was even more expensive and we didn't like the flavors as much, and the two of us grew up eating Edda's cakes for every special occasion. We ended up going to the Pembroke Pines location and they were extremely nice and courteous, and we got a pretty good quote from them. However, my wife had emailed a picture of the cake we wanted to the manager at Doral and ended up getting a quote that was significantly lower than any other quote we got, so we decided to go with them. When we went in to order, the same exact lady who gave us the quote via email quoted us almost $4 more per person. We had a feeling it was too good to be true so my wife brought along a printed version of the emails they had exchanged previously. She admitted that she had quoted that, but then she claimed that she hadn't opened the attachment correctly, or some other BS excuse, and she couldn't see the cake correctly. We said that was too bad but we had sent her the picture in high-resolution and she could see every single detail in the cake had she opened the attachment, and that she was the one who messed up and not us, so we should not have to pay the consequences. Clearly if she quoted us that price, even though she messed up, she had to honor it. She told us she would talk to the regional manager about it the following day and call us back. She called my wife the next day and told us that the regional manager told her she had to honor the price, DUH! So we saved over $400 on our cake. We were a little scared that they would do a half-ass job since we got it for so cheap, but the actual cake was exactly as the picture we gave them. Everyone raved about it (flavor AND design). We were very pleased with the outcome! Their customer service sucks but we ended up getting a steal and the cake was perfect.
My cake was not easy to make and searched all over miami to find a vendor that would gurantee that they could re create exactly what I wanted and Edda's cake Design was able to not only make me the most beautiful wedding cake that was exactly how I wanted it but it also tasted amazing. My guests were very happy!!!
Happy with the cake, very dense but very good and exactly what we expected with the photos and tasting that were given to us.
awesome cake. this is always my favorite cake. we got buttercream, and it was delicious. the design came out awesome also.
We ordered a cupcake tree, which is a tiered stand with cupcakes on 3 levels and a small cake for cutting on the top level. Edda's supplied everything needed. They included sugar flowers on the top of the cake at no additional charge. We chose chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. They were so yummy! My guests said they were the best cakes they had ever had at a wedding. My venue plated them with raspberry sauce and a chocolate covered strawberry, which really made the presentation nice.
My wedding buttercream cake was created by Cake Designs By Edda. They did a nice job on it and the consultation with them was worth the trip. We got to try all kinds of cake flavors and also what was nice was they all tasted really good it was hard to make our minds up but in the end we made our minds up and picked the style and kind of cake we wanted. It was fun being able to see all the different wedding cake designs that they could do for us and also the fact that they did excellent work. We were happy with the cake as it turned out perfect and we were also happy about the service. They can sure bake some good wedding cakes that taste good.
Both the Wedding cake and Grooms cake were great .. and tasted even better.
My cake was simple, beautiful, and delicious! The photos of it came out great and everyone was impressed.
Our Cake was delicious! I shouldn't have to say anymore than that…but I will. It was not only delicious but it was beautiful too. It almost didn't look real, but it obviously was because we ate it. On top of it being perfect, it was buttercream (not that nasty fondant). Which is way better as far as taste in my book. Well the buttercream was so impecably smooth, it looked like it could have been fondant. I have never seen such smooth buttercream before. The cake itself was perfectly moist. I did freeze the top layer, and I did eat it on my anniversary. And believe it or not, it tasted just as good a year later.
We got a package cake and added a few upgrades when we did our tasting. We did our tasting directly with the Coral Gables store. We liked that there was a variety of flavors to choose from, rather then just 1-2 package flavors. We were able to alternate flavors on the tiers at no cost. We added fillings to some of the layers and were only charged for filling on those layers. Our additions were inexepensive and way worth it.
We wanted to find a baker close to Red Fish Grill and were excited that Edda's was in Miami and close to us in Pembroke Pines (we live in Fort Lauderdale). The cake tasted great and there were so many choices. We chose Amaretto with Nutella filling for the largest layer and top layer and lets just say, we will not be saving the top layer for our one year anniversary as it is already gone. Middle layer was lemon with raspberry filling. Best of all, the cake looked as good as it tasted.
A cake was included in our package with the Doubletree. We did a few upgrades which were affordable. We actually did our cake tasting directly with Edda's and chose a cake from their book. The cake actually tasted better at the wedding then at the tasting, which is always a nice surprise. Some guests actually had 2 pieces, which almost never happens at a wedding.
I used this vendor for my bridal shower & wedding. I loved both of my cakes. especially my wedding cake. it was exactly what I asked for and they exceeded my expectations. All of their work is very detailed & stunning outcome.
Simple, but pretty cake. Tasting fantastic. Low cost.
Cake was included in our package. Four tiers of beauty and deliciousness!
We ordered a cake for 80 guests so we could have three tiers. The cake was still quite affordable. It was a sinmple buttercream cake and looked just as smooth as fondant. We chose a different flavor for each tier. We saved the top for our anniversary (which still tasted great when we just celebrated 1 yr last month). We cut the other two layers at the wedding and saved the rest for our brunch the next day. The cake was delicious and once decorated with fresh roses looked like it should be in a magazine!
We decided to do mini cakes instead of a traditional wedding cake. They were little round ivory cakes with polka dots in light green, chocolate brown, and pale pink. We displayed them on a lucite stand rented from Edda's. We served dessert at the wedding, so the cakes were just on display. The caterer boxed each one to go at the end of the night for the guests to take home. Edda's provided the boxes too. They were clear boxes with gold on the bottom. They also included a cake topper for the ceremonial cutting.
I had gotten so many extremely high quotes for wedding cakes, that by the time I got to Edda's I was in shock at how reasonable they were. They were the first cake company that told me buttercream was fine for the design I wanted and didnt try to sell me the expensive fondant upgrade. Buttercream was as smooth as can be and looked just beautiful! We chose a different flavor for each layer, vanilla rum, amaretto, and orange. Our guests raved about the cake and said it was the best cake they ever had at a wedding.
Edda's made my dream cake. I wanted something large, but I didn't have a lot of people to make up the number of slices. After speaking with the sales person at Eddas they helped me come up with a design that would "look" large without the large price tag.
My wedding cake and groom's cake were perfect on the outside and inside - they were so mouth watering delicious that after the wedding I went back and bought more of wedding cake. It was that good. I wish I could post pics here so that you ladies could see them. They worked with me to make the groom's cake and it turned out beautiful.
My only tiny gripe was that they are hard to get in contact with via email: I sent them 3 emails but never rec'd a reply, so finally I went into their Pembroke Pines location and everything went great from there.
Try them out!
