Our Wedding cake was beautiful and delicious! Since we were married in December we chose red velvet with cream cheese frosting. All the guests raved about it, and there was hardly any left by the end of the night! Definitely reccomend!
Our caterer (Chris Angione of Stew Leonard's in Danbury, CT) recommended several bakeries. Cake Haven was the one we chose and we were very happy. My fiancee (now wife, of course) had some very specific ideas for the cake, but also some very vague ideas about other aspects of the cake. Cake Haven was able to take her specific requests and her general ideas and put them together into a beautiful cake that we all loved. The cake tasting was wonderful; there were so many different ways we could have combined the ingredients. We eventually settled on a pound cake with raspberry filling and buttercream icing, which was absolutely delicious. Our budget was a little tight, but Cake Haven was happy to work with us and gave us a discount to get the price to within the budget. We didn't try anything fancy, so I don't know how well they do really elaborate designs. We had a very classic sort of design that looked great and tasted perfect.
Ours was a wedding cake to remember! Alas, except in our memories, there's not a crumb left. That's how good was the cake from Cake Haven of Danbury, CT! Francine Bove, owner and pastry chef of Cake Haven, makes each cake unique and takes on projects by appointment only. She took at least 45" with us just to talk about what kind of cake we wanted. We looked through her photographs of cakes to get ideas of themes and colors, and finally she gave us a head-spinningly delicious tasting of the many possible flavors of cakes, fillings and frostings... In the end we chose a cake, fixed the date and she delivered the goods. She did a superb job, was on time, and delivered a gorgeous, three layers, each different from the other of super delicious moist cake that was the only dessert at our wedding. Everyone loved it. The empty cake plate the morning after tells the truth, but don't believe me, make an appointment with Francine. Taste and see for yourself. She's not cheap, but very reasonably priced she's worth every penny.
