Calligraphica created a Quaker wedding certificate that my husband and I used in lieu of a guestbook, and in honor of the Quakers in his family. We had a simple certificate with beautiful, hand-drawn and painted flowers at the top and bottom of the certificate. It's proven to be a really beautiful keepsake that hangs prominently on our living room wall and that I appreciate so much more than a traditional guestbook.
Steven was very responsive by email, made the certificate quickly, and created a design that my husband and I loved based on just a few lines of description I provided to him in an email. The most difficult part of the process was figuring out what we wanted on the certificate--the Calligraphica website offers so many choices and possibilities for customization. Calligraphica made an absolutely gorgeous wedding certificate for me! They worked all of the flowers and redwoond cones/needles I asked for into the design and made it come together beautifully, and, when I didn't catch a spelling error until the very last minute, they completely redid it and still got it to me on time!

Sharon prepared our Quaker wedding certificate (similar to a ketubah). The calligraphy was beautiful and the art work that accompanied it is lovely. Sharon was easy to work with, proofed our wording very carefully and had the certificate prepared in plenty of time to safely ship to us for the wedding. She was also extremely reasonably priced. We were delighted.

LOVED our certificate. It was a little pricey, but we love that it's a one of a kind certificate that was personalized for us. We did not do a full Quaker certificate with witness signatures. They are hand done and exquisite. We had it framed before the wedding and on display for our guests to see. She will work with your style and theme and sends a proof to review before commissioning the final piece.

Calligraphica provides calligraphy for all of life's celebrations; births, baptisms, weddings, birthdays and anything else that needs a little touch of elegance. I specialize in Quaker Wedding Certificates but I also address envelopes, letter place cards, escort cards, table cards, poems, quotes, seating charts, etc.
Quaker wedding certificates are unique records of the wedding. They provide a record of your names, the date, your vows, your flowers, and since all your guests sign it, you don't need a guest book. Everything is on one sheet of paper.
I have over 25 years' experience in professional calligraphy. All of my work is done by hand. I use acid-free and light-fast materials to insure that my wedding certificates and poems last. Order one of my certificates and your grandchildren will argue over who inherits it!
FAQ for Calligraphica
Most wedding certificate can be completed in a week or two, however I have a waiting list that is usually about 2 months long. I have had to turn couples away because they contacted me too late. So a word to the wise; once you decide you want me to do something for you, let me know. I also have a print option for "last minute" rush jobs.
Write to me for other services like invitations, save the date, addressing envelopes, thank you cards, place cards, etc. I will be able to give you estimates on time and price once I know what you want.
What if I'm not sure what I want?
Look over my website for ideas. If you are still not sure, contact me anyway. I can work with you by email. I am willing to do sketches and mock ups for you to help you realize your vision.
What different styles do you do?
I do several styles of calligraphy; two Italics called Vivaldi and Palomares, upright hands called Bookhand, Uncial, and Batarde. If you have a particular style that you want and it can be done with a broad pen I can probably duplicate it.
I have many styles of decoration. Many people like flowers around the lettering. Others like a landscape of the wedding location. I also have borders for those who like Craftsman style, or trees as a border.
If you are all booked up and can't do my project, is there someone to whom you can refer me?
If I cannot do it by hand I may be able to do a custom printed certificate. We have many styles on type and decorations from which to choose. Also, I have a couple other scribes that may be able to help you. Just email me.
1.The best tip I can give you is to contact me early. During the summer I am often booked 3 or 4 months ahead. Even if you're not quite sure of what you want, call me anyway.
2. Please make sure I have the address to which you want your piece(s) sent. This will ensure that I don't have to call you at the last minute as I'm driving to the FedEx hub.
3. If I am to address envelopes, please see that the list of addresses I get is legible. Typed is preferred, but handwriting is OK too so long as it's easy to read.
4. If I am doing a Quaker wedding certificate for you, please double check the wording, spelling, names etc. when I send you the preview photo of the certificate.
