Reviews for Castaway Burbank

We were very disappointed with The Castaway after hearing many great reviews from friends and other reviewers! Our first meeting with our adviser, Mikalina was promising as we made our initial contact and had a few questions answered. However, after everything was booked with her we were told that she was transferred to another site. We ended up with Steve as our adviser and everything went down hill from there! He was unresponsive, unprofessional, and very difficult to work with. We had to send him several emails and follow the emails up with a numerous phone calls to make sure he received our message or to get an answer from him. No one has time for that in the midst of planning a wedding! After about a month of the nonsense, we asked for a new adviser. We ended up with Laura, the manager there. The planning after that was a lot better after that.
However, on the day of the wedding, Laura had promised us time before the party started to set up our decorations. When our friends arrived, they had not yet cleared out the party before us and they weren't able to set up with the time that we had anticipated. The result - our wedding party scrambling to set everything up while our ~300 guests wait outside in the cold. Eventually, my wedding coordinator (a friend of mine) had to tell Castaway to serve the hor dourves outside in the cold while all the guests stood in line to get in! How tacky! When we got in, we also noticed that the first two rows on tables that were supposed to be our family's tables were all wrong!
The venue is beautiful, there is not doubt about that. However, for the price you pay and the stress that comes from working with the Castaway staff - I would not recommend...

After searching high and low for a venue that would offer everything on the spot for a good price, we decided to book the Castaway in Burbank. We worked with Mikalina and she did a great job answering all of our questions and panning out all of the little details. I was a little nervous about how things would turn out the day of the wedding, but let me say that the Castaway provided exceptional service the day of and I was so pleased with how everything turned out! We had our ceremony at the gazebo and reception in the Verdugo Room. The venue provided a beautiful backdrop for all the festivities and they were able to accommodate to all of our guests needs, especially due to the heat! From start to finish, the staff were so helpful and would regularly check in with us to make sure we had enough to eat and drink. They passed around hordourves like there was no tomorrow and we received soooo many compliments about the food and open bar! We rented chivari chairs and lighting from them as well and their prices beat all of the other vendors I've researched. Also, the cake from Cakery Bakery was awesome! Once you add all your personal touches, it really transforms the place. I highly recommend the Castaway if you want an all inclusive venue that provides everything at a reasonable price. Overall, we had a great experience and although this place is popular for weddings, I felt like our event was unique & special in every way and everyone had a blast. Hope this helps other brides!

My wedding was a great success. I had the buffet and my guests all loved the food and how it was made. The place was gorgeous and I couldn't ask for more. They accommodated my wishes to the T. I love this place!

Our wedding reception on July 28th was beautiful and we got a ton of compliments on the food, which we were pleasantly surprised by. Our event coordinators there, Mikalina Celani and Danielle Verdick bent over backwards to make sure everything was the way we wanted and dealt with all of our last minute changes and odd requests. I love those girls!
The ONLY thing that was disappointing was that the room we had the reception in (the Mountain View) did not have enough power to efficiently run the DJ's booth and slide show. Our slide show was a COMPLETE disaster. It went up late because of all the technical difficulties then it played without the music which really is a huge part of the slide show itself. I spent months working on this slide show and putting in the music where it needed to be. I was told by both the Audio vendor and the DJ that they both had issues with the amount of power let into the room. My DJ was frustrated all evening. While everyone who worked there was wonderful and the food was great, I'm not sure I would recommend this place to anyone who is having a large wedding with lots of electricity...

The castaway was so beautiful. The view is amazing. The food was absolutely wonderful...my favorite was the salmon! They gave us a complimentary appetizer and the staff was very helpful and friendly!!!
GUEST

The venue is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. The meal packages are actually a good deal since open bar is included in it. All our guests had a great time and the food was pretty good. The only downside is the responsiveness of the coordinator. The coordinator we had was nice and ended up accommodating our requests, but it took quite of pulling teeth and follow ups. Overall though, the venue and price is definitely good. We were very happy how everything turned out at the end.

Absolutely beautiful! I worked with Steve, who was great to work with. He is very professional and returned phone calls right away. He helped everything go smoothly. I highly recommend working with him. Also, the wedding coordinator, Maureen is fabulous and helps a lot the day of. Location is great! Beautiful! Great views and really good food. Everything was almost perfect. A few little glitches that I would clarify with them if you decide to use this venue. I was over my head count by 2 people. I was fine with paying extra, however, not ok that the waiter told my guests at one table that he couldn't feed their kids because it exceeded the head count. Really unprofessional and I had to apologize to my guests. Also, one of the bartenders was trying to charge $13 for a beer to one of my guests. We had 2 bartenders, one was great, the other so-so. After 3 hours of open bar, I am sure he overcharged some the guests that already had too much to drink. Let's just say, one walked away with a hefty tip by overcharging drunk guests. If you clarify this ahead of time, everything will be great! I think everything turned out beautiful and everyone else commented about how beautiful this venue was. (The other waiters and the other bartender were great).

We had our ceremony outside at the Gazebo and Reception in the Verdugo Ballroom. It was supposed to rain the whole day on the day of our wedding January 21 2012 so we had to have plan b incase it rained. I wanted to have the cocktail hour outside because I felt like our florist and lighting team needed time to prepare and setup the reception room. I worked with Catering specialist Zarin. She was kind and returned my calls promptly. On the day of the wedding it rained earlier in the morning and luckily it cleared up for our 5 pm ceremony outdoors. Zarin understood beforehand that I wanted the cocktail our outdoors if it didn't rain. After the ceremony it was already dark and very windy. All of the guests were cold but I still wanted to have the cocktail hour outdoors because the harpist who played at the ceremony was outdoors and would have to move her large and heavy instrument indoors and I also felt like the florist needed more time to setup. After the ceremony Zarin said the bar is not setup outside and that the guests were all cold and wanted to come indoors. I reminded her of our conversation and agreement and still wanted the cocktail hour outside. Zarin insisted that I have it inside. Finally I agreed because it was extremely windy, dark and quite cold outside and didn't want my guests to suffer. Zarin and Maureen (the ceremony coordinator) were quite helpful and understanding with our requests. The Castaway was quite flexible when it came down to the package. My Uncle made my wedding cake so they allowed me to make another selection. Luckily I also booked my date before they moved up the prices and took things out of the packages. Overall good experience. Reception supervisor I believe Francisco was very friendly professional. HE always had a smile on his face.HAd a beautiful wedding and everyone still talks about how elegant and beautiful it was. Flowers lighting and dj/mc make a world of difference! Make sure you book the right vendors! OVerall has a great experience and I am a very detail focused bride and everything turned out beautifully.
GUEST

If you are getting married at the Castaway, make sure Zarin is your coordinator. She is a gem! I was a little worried about getting married at a "marriage mill" but she made us feel special and made our event seem like the only one at the venue. Our theme was the night sky, so getting married in a location overlooking all of the city at night was perfect. The room was beautiful, the guests were stuffed (so many food choices and all delicious!), the waitstaff was exceptional. My wedding was better than I dreamed!
GUEST

Absolutely love this place! From the food, to the reception area, to the waiters and our coordinator Mikalina... Everyone was great... Mikalina was very helpful and is is very open to ideas... She was easy to work with and answered my emails right away. To think that she is new to the Castaway. Our head waiter Francisco was great too. Thanks Castaway for making our wedding beautiful =)

We had our wedding reception at the Mountain View room at the Castaway and our ceremony at the gazebo. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful... such a pretty location. Its a beautiful venue with lots of places to take wedding pictures. and our reception was perfect! The staff did a great job during the reception, eveything came out right on time and my guests said the waitors and the bartenders were very friendly. Everything was so much better then I even imagened. The food was also excellent! I worked with Steve from the Castaway while planning and he was a pleasure to work with. The ceremony coordinator Maurin was also great to work with and she made sure our ceremony ran smoothly. I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out, the wedding was a dream come true!
GUEST

They were always a phone call away, but during the ceremony the ceremony coordinator gave a couple slip ups and wasn't always on top of things. Their food was amazing and for the cost it was definitely a great deal. There were things that we couldn't add to our reception but they added it without charging us, which was the awesome of them to do for us. The wedding expectations blew me away.
GUEST

It was the perfect location for our wedding and the views were beautiful !!! Our wedding was amazing and everything we imagined. The Castaways was wonderful and easy to work with VERY professional, punctual, friendly and affordable. Zarine and Maureen were great to work with I would recommend this venue to everyone !!

We had our wedding on July 17th and loved it! There are some definite pros and cons to having your wedding at Castaways in Burbank.
First pros-
Castaway was a beautiful wedding and reception venue. We highly suggest you book the Gazebo because it really was fabulous. It can book up fast and the alternative is the patio which is not nearly as nice. The servers on the day of the wedding were great. As soon as the ceremony ended they were there waiting for the bridal party with h'ordearves and drinks. The h'ordearves were tasty too. We had bacon wrapped shrimp, beef satay, and artichoke heart pastries. My guests thought the dinner was great, (salmon or prime rib). I had the Salmon and have to agree, it was really good.
At night the venue has amazing views of the city below and we were fortunate to have had our cocktail hour outside in the back of the gazebo area. If you can try to do this for any summer/ early fall wedding. It really added a fun, classy feel to our wedding.
Now for some of our Cons-
Let's start with the marketing staff..... we originally had a girl named Kim who was somehow transferred to a different position halfway through our planning. She was nice but it was awkward to have to get a new person to handle our wedding and not be told why or be told that someone else was handling the planning.
Then when we got a new person... Susie, we really liked her.... she got transferred too, and we found out ON THE DAY of our wedding. This did not really effect us since we had a planner but apparently our planner had to sort out a lot of contract information because of that.
If you can... ask for Leslie, she seems to know what she is doing and is always around to help. In fact she helped us out a few times when we came and our other two were "unavailable."
In summary......
Castaway Restaurant in Burbank is a beautiful location to have a wedding, with great service. However the marketing and event staff have a lot of communication issues to work out. I'm sure if you can get with someone who is not going anywhere you will be fine. All in all everything worked out perfect for the wedding!
Oh, one more thing.... DO NOT use the Castaway preferred vendor list!!!! We can't stress this enough!!! The ONLY one we found that was great was the harpist Corina. She was fantastic, if you need a reasonably priced and good harpist call her! Other than her the other vendors were not good!

We had our wedding reception here, in the Lagoon Room... Overall we were happy with the waiters' service... I HATE the fact that a cash register was placed right on top of the Bar, the main table (Bride and Grooms table) right next to the bar. First off when I walked in coming from our beautiful Cathedral ceremony, into our Reception I see this huge clunky cash register, NOT KIDDING it was very noticeable! Even though our menu included an open bar till 10:15 (4 hrs) the cash register there was soooo unecessary and even tacky b'cuz some of our guest thought we had a cash bar, where the guests pay for their own drinks, this caused some emberrassing unecessary confunsion. If I could upload a pic here I would to show how the cash register made its way to a many of our wedding pictures -I should sue the restaurant and make them pay for the photographer for pictures ruined!!!!!! On one picture of my mom and stepfather the cash register is RIGHT ABOVE MY MOM'S HEAD! and this annoys me so much b'cus my mother will not take picutes, so this was one of the few we had of her...
I totally understand if they need to have a cash register for after the open bar hours are over.... BUT they could of brought out after that specific time AND be descrete where to place it!
I swear maybe 1-2 of our guests actually went to purchase a drink once the 4-hr open bar was over... which begs the question: WAS THAT UGLY CLUNKY THING REALLY NECESSARY?????????????
Would I recommend to a friend or have a future event at Castaway.... that's a good question.... I'd only consider if Management at Castaway starts paying more attention to details by handling the cash register in a more classy and descrete...

We had our wedding at Castaways. I worked with Steve who helped us in the planning process. He was a delight to work with, very sweet and accommodating. My husband and I had some issues coordinating our church ceremony with the date we had selected at Castaways. Steve was flexible enough to change our date even though it’s against their policy. He answered every question I had along the way and when he wasn’t available he would call me right back to follow up. He made sure our day turned out perfect. The food was delicious, the room was set up just as we discussed. The wait staff took care of us and our guests, making sure we had drinks at all times and our dinner was served on time. Everyone we spoke with afterwards commented on the great food and wonderful venue. I couldn't be more pleased with how everything turned out. I would do it all over again if I could!
GUEST

The Castaway Restaurant was pretty amazing. They worked around any thing that we wanted to have done for the wedding. The service in the reception room was amazing. The head bell captain would be on top of anything we needed before we even thought to ask for it. Everyone of our guests loved the food from the appetizers to the entree. And even though we didn't get a chance to eat much of the food ourselves my husband and I the little amount of food we had we enjoyed greatly.
GUEST

Our wedding was PERFECT!! It was everything we dreamed it would ever be. Susie and her entire team were nothing but professional the entire time. Our guests are still talking about how amazing the wedding was and that's all thanks to the Castaway. Dinner service was top notch. Food tasted awesome. The entire staff treated us and our guests like royalty. Highly recommend the Castaway and be sure to ask for Susie in the catering department.

I worked with Zarin in the catering department of the castaways in burbank. She was very patient with me and very accomadating. They went above and beyond what was needed to help me out in planning my wedding. Zarin kept me calm when I would start to get anxious about guest count, linens and all the crazy little details that one doesn't normally think about in their daily lives. Our guests were very well taken cared of and everyone said the food was great! I can't thank castaways enough for the awesome service that they provided us on our wedding planning process.

We got our wedding done here at the Castaway in Burbank a few weeks ago. I'm going to keep it real - let me start by saying this. #1 - Food was awesome! Prime rib, Salmon, chicken was the bomb! EVERYONE loved the food and they are picky eaters btw (they dine at Lawrys, nice places) so getting a compliment from them was surprising to me. We picked the $50 per person menu which came out to like $80 per person with tips, tax, & everything, which included 1 hour of open bar (which was crazy btw) my friends nearly closed the bar down by ordering 4 drinks at a time...lol. I highly recommend this part, to fix those alcoholics in your crowd.
#2 - Location was awesome! Outdoor ceremony - although it wasn't coordinated that well (background music playing while wedding music was playing) was a bit weird, but I recommend preparing more with the dj if we had to do it again. (please talk to the DJ & Coordinator!!! & do a test run) We winged it and it didn't come out well, but the views covered it up.
#3 - Overall - we were on a $5k budget, and we did everything - so we're very happy!

The Castaway is a beautiful venue and that is one of the biggest reasons we decided to go with this location. The view over Burbank is awesome and on a clear night you can see downtown LA in a distance. We had a few dates at the Castaway in the beginning of our relationship so the venue was extra special to us.
We had our ceremony at the gazebo and our reception in the Verdugo room. The ceremony was beautiful! The sunset was gorgeous just as we were saying our vows. It couldn’t have been more perfect.
We decided to go with one of their all-inclusive packages because it made it simple on us. The food was very good the night of our wedding. Our on-site contact, Zarin, was even able to swap one of the items we didn’t want for something that we did want. We were very happy she was willing to work with us. One thing we did not like in corresponding with her was that she isn't very good at emails. I would send her an email asking questions and instead she would call me. Which is fine but there were a few things she flip flopped on which made some of the details a little stressful. Regardless, they all worked out. We hired our own wedding coordinator and Zarin seemed much more responsive in working with her so that was good for us.
The on-site ceremony coordinator, Maureen, was not very helpful. She didn't show up at the rehearsal the day before (luckily we hired our own coordinator) and at the wedding Maureen said that we didn’t show up. Her personality is a little rough around the edges.
The night of our wedding the catering staff was simply amazing. Very much on top of everything and extremely helpful. The appetizers were excellent, and the chicken was delicious. The steak was a little over-done for our taste but this may be just our preference.
Overall we were very happy with the Castaway.

Had the reception in the mountain view room. Our guest commented that the food was tasty and a very generous portion. The waiting staff did a wonderful job to make sure that my husband and I always had something to eat. Thank you very much for making our special day so easy!
GUEST

The castaway is a beautiful venue. Of course, I felt like I was paying a lot for the food that we had. I thought that they could have been a bit more flexible with the menu as well. Regardless, the services provided made it worth it all. The room we had was wonderful. The lighting was perfect for photographers to work inside as well as in the gazebo area. The arch on the main patio was to be our "spot" as we exchanged vows, but the gazebo opened up at the last minute. That worked out really well. Having a wedding coordinator there, on the premesis, was included with my wedding package. She didn't have much to do in regards to my wedding but I saw how helpful she was just in coordinating some of the smaller things. I made numerous phone calls to the office and to the catering staff. All my calls were returned in a timely manner. Everything turned out beautifully.

Castaway was very professional. We had the best time at our wedding!

I can not say enough positive words for this place. At the Castaway in Burbank we were treated like royalty throughout the WHOLE process. Zarin assisted us with all of our planning. All staff was friendly and professional. They were amazing. Whatever we asked for they were able to accommodate. They took their time with us, they were very patient and cooperative. My husband and I didn't know where to begin and they explained everything in detail, they returned all calls promptly and addressed all our concerns. We were able to sample the food which was so DELICIOUS. Our guests raved about their meals. In addition to the outstanding service and delectable food; the venue itself is gorgeous. We had the mountain view room. And yes, we had a view of the mountains. It is a lush background great for photos. The room itself is also very nice. There are other rooms with beautiful city view lights in the evening as well. We also had our ceremony here. We were supposed to have the gazebo with the mountains as a backdrop but it sprinkled off and on that day so the ceremony was moved inside. It was still great. Our day of coordinator was Moreen. She made everyone laugh and feel so comfortable. She helped to take that edge off. Affordable, beautiful scenery, delicious food, outstanding service.

They have a great Brunch. Make sure you make the Reservation in advance.
GUEST

I thought that the Castaway did a great job with my ceremony and reception. The wait staff was very professional and the food was delicious. I did have a few minor problems however.
The ceremony coordinator provided by the Castaway was very very hard to get a hold of and never emailed me the confirmation of the rehearsal time. Also, my wedding started early. We were ahead of schedule from the pictures and I was really looking forward to having about 20 minutes to wind down a bit, but the next thing I knew we were lining up. I later found out that some of my guests came in after the ceremony had started, who would have otherwise been there from the start had we actually started when we were supposed to.
Overall, I was very pleased with the Castaway. They did everything I asked for and the room was beautiful. I felt that it was a great value for what we paid.
GUEST

A beautiful place to get married! The ambiance and food were excellent. The service was professional and curtious.
In some instances during the planning stages, the catering office did not get back to me and I had to follow up multiple times to get the info I needed; but it was worth it!
GUEST

Great location, wonderful views, efficient service and good food. We had a Wednesday wedding and they were very flexible with our requests. During the reception, the catering manager and the staff were regularly checking in w/ us to make sure if we needed anything and if everything was up to our standards. Our guests loved the venue and the atmosphere of the Mountain Room. The Castaway definitely made our day a wonderful and memorable one.
GUEST

Great staff, wonderful view and even acceptable food. The reception staff was very nice and friendly. Overall a great location.
GUEST

We got married 9/5/2009 and it was great. The food was great and each of our guest got a big plate full of food and not just whatever food, REALLY GOOD FOOD. All our guest enjoyed the food. Everyone there was such a big help and made our reception just amazing.
GUEST

The individuals in the catering department were so helpful every step of the way. They were flexible with making sure we had everything we needed, and the whole reception was perfect. We used the luau grounds below the actual restaurant and it was beautiful... there were even deer in the hillside during dinner! The buffet was so delicious and we got so many compliments on how it was the best wedding meal they ever had. We couldn't decide on which kind of sauce to have with the pasta and they were very flexible and let us have 2 different selections. Also, we had specified that we wanted to have the bar run the whole night, and pay a flat fee. 2 hours before the reception ended, they let us know that nobody was drinking and let us pay $100 at a time rather than $2000 to keep it completely open as our contract specified. Overall they were really great, and I don't have a bad thing to say!
GUEST

So, I will have to say that I got a TON for the money that I spent. We got valet parking, ice sculpture, filet mignon with shrimp, tray passed hor duerves, the list goes on! The entire time I was planning it I got great responses from Castways. They would always email me back, they were so nice....blah blah. I seriously couldn't be happier. But, then on the day of the wedding the day of wedding coordinator (the one that Castaways provides you with) is no where to be found!!! Thank HEAVENS that I had a REAL day of coordinator who did it all on her own. I definitely knew I got a lot for my money and if you are on a budget (maybe not a tiny tiny budget but a medium sized budget) this is the place for you. Just get someone to be there the day of!

I was so impressed with Castaway. We had our reception in the Luau Gardens which is a hidden gem at the Burbank hideaway. I worked with Steve who was a little difficult to get ahold of at times because he didn't do email, but when we did speak, he made sure all my requests were taken care of. The price was great too...and they were willing to bargain with me. I paid $63 / per person for a appetizers, full buffet, cake and 4 hours of premium bar service. The reception was beautiful and the service was great! I had no idea that the groom and I would be so taken care of! The food was brought to our table and anytime we needed a drink, someone went to the bar for us. I was a little nervous about the quality of food (from other various reviews) but the guests loved it! We got so many compliments...even the best food ever! I would recommend Castaway 100%
GUEST

This was the best venue ever. Great service, view, food and customer service. Our catering manager, Susie, was wonderful and very professional. Our wedding coordinator, Morine, made the wedding day flawless and a huge success.
This is definitely a great venue!

Perfect! Castaway provided the perfect setting, dinner, service, everything!
They have mastered the art of PERFECTION!
GUEST

My coordinator, Leslie Carter, was wonderful. She worked with us on price, set-up, and was very flexible with the changes that we made throughout the planning process. Everyone raved about the food, which I found to be so much more than I expected. The Catering staff was so helpful and attentive as well during our reception.

the place is just perfect, the ceremony overlook the whole valley.,. and maureen was very nice the coordinator.. i cnt ask for more,. i was treated like a princess.. the food was perfect as well it a night they made me not to forget..:D
GUEST

I loved having my reception at Castaway Restaurant! They were always friendly and professional. They did their best to accommodate me and answer any questions I had. The food was decent, the view was spectacular, and the price was unbeatable. The only problem I had was that the bartenders were charging guests different prices for the same drink (overcharging some), however I brought this to my coordinator's attention and she was appalled and promised it would be dealt with. (We had a cash bar so this wouldn't have been a problem had it been open or dry).
GUEST

Zarin was my catering coordinator at The Castaway and from the moment my husband and i met her we were sold. She was not pushy, was very nice and pleasant and made us feel important. Completely the opposite of what another banquet hall made us feel like that same day.
Everything was perfect! Absolutely nothing went wrong with our wedding. The place looked amazing, the service was awesome and they catered to my every need. Everyone loved the food. I highly recommend The Castaway in Burbank, CA.

They are a popular venue for weddings because their food prices are really affordable - approximately $50/person for fairly good food; the ambiance of the venue is pretty awesome (you get the whole valleys and mountains view because Castaway sits on a hill). The day of my wedding there were four other weddings going on. I had no problems at Castaway - it was beautiful and serene and amazing and affordable. Their staff is always accessible and polite. Great venue for a wedding! =D TIP: In the Starlight Room, don't rent the tulle looking ceiling decorations - you'll usually end up getting them for free because of an event before or after your event. Awesome!! =D
GUEST

Steve was my coordinator at Castaway. He will not negotiate any part of the contract unless you PUSH real hard, and usually its best for your wedding planner to do this, because he was pretty mean to me in the end. My wedding planner had finalized all the details, and he took out some of his frustration on me two days before my wedding, it was not very professional. All in all, my wedding was beautiful, the venue itself is WAY WORTH the price, i would not have done anything differently. The ceiling adornments are supposed to be rented, but on any given weekend, they're up for another event. I did not rent them, but got lucky with them for the event that night anyways. Steak is HUGE, chicken is kind of dry, but all in all the food was great, I received many compliments. The view is fantastic, and perfect for pictures.
GUEST

I had a great experience with Castaways. I had my reception there and it was beautiful. The view was beautiful in the Starlight room. The food was great, served on time and they were all very professional. I would definitely recommend this place.
GUEST

They are really pushy about finishing on time. The food was good.
GUEST

Great service, Castaway even provided ceiling decoration that made the reception even more beautiful. Only downside is you'll likely see another bride there and there's likely another reception going on next door in another banquet room and your guests so sit near that wall will hear their music.
GUEST

All of the staff at The Castaway were very helpful. Impressed with their professionalism and the quality of the food served.
GUEST

The Castaway is one of the best deals in the Valley for receptions. They have three banquet rooms, each a different size with a slightly different view (the view of the valley at night is amazing!) We did our ceremony outside on the recently renovated gazebo area, and the reception in the Verdugo room. The ceremony coordinator is included in the cost of the ceremony (which is also a good deal) and Deneen was excellent to work with.
One thing to be aware of is that there can be three weddings going on at once. That did not bother us - I thought it was fun to see the other brides and parties. Our ceremony was over by the time the other receptions started, and we did not hear any sound from the bigger reception room next door. Parking can be a pain if you don't get there early - valet parking is free and they provide a shuttle from a second parking lot down the hill when it's busy (sometimes the shuttle can be slow, but it doesn't take long to walk)
Another potential issue is that they do book events in the afternoons, so we could not get into the reception room to setup until an hour before the ceremony. We had friends and family providing music and some decorations, so that was a little tight for them to setup and be ready for the ceremony.
Overall we were very happy with the service and the venue. The Castaway was easily a third of the cost of a lot of the other places we looked at, and much nicer!
GUEST

This venue was only for my reception. I instantly fell in love with the location and food selection. I was on a very conservative budget so i thought that i was going to have a very hard time finding a perfect place. There packages provides a variety of things. You can say they are almost a one-stop wedding center.
This is what the package included:
Location
Valet
All rentals (table, chairs, table linens, stage and so on)
Happy hour
Food with 4 different choices including Kids meal
drinks

They even had a great line up of vendors who always work with them.
Place looked amazing after all my finishing touches.

At first, I was not particularly excited about going to see this location, because it was in Burbank and I didn't think I would find something I really liked. We dealt with a gal named Elizabeth and she was wonderful. I had to use them for catering, but when I handed them a specific menu to what I wanted and provided the recipes, they made everything exactly how it should have been. The food was GREAT and they really did their best to ensure that my "special day" was all that it should be.
The one thing I didn't like is that there are other banquet halls there. So, you could have 2 receptions going on at the same time, it could get confusing. In our case, it ended up being just fine.

The representative was great. Very professional and patient. She helped us cut a lot of costs. The reception was very elegant. The waiters were very polite and professional. The waiters smiled and served. They made all the guest very comfortable.

Recently photographed Ken and LeeAnn's wedding at Castaway. I love being up in the mountains with the beautiful views. Many great locations for photos also. You can see the wedding I shot http://www.rustinmichael.com/blog/2009/03/18/ken-leeann-031409/
