An amazing venue! The day and location were perfect! The staff were so helpful throughout the process. The Castle Green is a beautiful location with so much space. The guests loved it, as did we.

I really loved having my wedding at the Castle Green. The venue is gorgeous, and I felt like I got a lot for my wedding in terms of space - huge gardens for a ceremony, many interesting rooms for cocktails, and the ballroom for dinner and dancing. Shannon was really sweet and nice to work with, and communication was good. The nice thing about the Castle Green is that everything is already so beautiful, that any decorations you add are just icing on the cake. As a DIY bride, I found it easy to just bring in a few extra decorations and let the venue do most of the work for me. They do charge extra for outside catering, but I thought the logic behind the decision was reasonable (basically, because they are a historical venue, there is a vetting process for new caterers to make sure that the venue isn't at risk for damage). There was a lot of variety between the caterers on the recommended list, though, so my fiance and I didn't have a problem with that. Many venues locked you into using one and only one caterer, so this was a reasonable compromise. We had no problem getting our security deposit back.They do have a few restrictions due to it being a historical venue--for example, no candles. However, I didn't find these to be a problem or impede any of my plans. I just used LED candles instead with no issues.

This was an absolutely beautiful place for our wedding ceremony and reception. The grounds and first floor event area were kept very clean and neat. Shannon was very helpful throughout the planning process and responded very quickly to every email and voicemail that I sent her. I am very happy with my experience and will always remember how beautiful my wedding was. I would defiitely recommend this venue to anyone looking for a beautiful historical building. What a special place to have had our wedding. The best part is all the space we were given to work with. There were times getting in contact to make arrangements became a challenge, but not enough to deter us. Thanks Castle Green for providing us with such a special space for our event.

The locations was very nice. I experienced some difficulty getting in touch with them, but other than that they were very helpful and a pleasure to work with. the location was beautiful and our wedding turned out amazing.

Overall, my husband and I loved our experience at Castle Green. On the day of our wedding, Shannon came into the bridal room and asked if I needed anything. I was glad she was on hand just in case. Everything was stunningly beautiful due to the professionalism of all the vendors we hired and the grandness of the place. Most of our vendors had already been to Castle Green which helped because they already knew what to do and what to expect. I truly felt like a princess in my own castle and everyone was working together to make our wedding beautiful!Castle Green is a wonderful place to get married because it has a lot of rich history and architecture. My maid of honor said everyone thought the wedding was beautiful and unique. Originally, my husband and I chose this place because I had fallen in love with the lawn where my ceremony took place. The ballroom was easily transformed into an amazing reception area. The lighting from the chandeliers was perfect. There was a glow in the room which added to the ambiance of the evening.In the end, my husband and I received a small gift along with a thank-you card waiting for us in the bridal room which was a nice touch.I will have memories of my enchanting wedding at Castle Green for years to come! The Castle Green is just an incredibly gorgeous venue, and a historic landmark as well. It's unique beauty outweighs any of the unattractive aspects of having an event there, such as no onsite parking, no open flamed candles and the expense. Despite it being more costly than some of the other venues we looked at, it just didn't matter as this location was stunning and perfectly suited us. Plus, I might add that although the venue itself is costly to rent, you actually save money if you plan to have an open bar. The Castle Green doesn't have a liquor license so our caterer and coordinator worked out an arrangement with a local liquor store to deliver what we needed without markup and the liquor store bought back unopened bottles as well. So, when you take that into consideration, we actually saved a fortune.Because of the beautiful and elegant Castle Green, our incredible wedding coordinator (Lumiani Events), and our artistic photographer (Duke Photography), we ended up with the wedding of our dreams.

This was my ideal wedding venue! The coordinator Shannon Ercek was very sweet and very accommodating. The site is absolutely gorgeous, and the rooms are beautiful. It was a little challenging to get a few questions answered at one point since they had to let some people go at the beginning of the year, but Ms. Ercek always made sure I was completely taken care of. It's actually easier to reach Shannon via email. The cost is actually quite reasonable for how beautiful the site is. When you go in for a tour, ask if they are running any specials… I got an extra half hour free just for booking in the month of October! Just be careful because if it rains, unless you're going to rent a tent, you'll be stuck having to move everything inside and it's the outdoor sites that really make the ceremony beautiful at this place. It is Definitely worth checking this site out.

We recently celebrated our wedding at the Castle Green and it was the absolute best! The grounds are so spacious and beautiful and so roomy for our guests. When I decended down the spiral staircase, I felt like a princess in my own fairy tale! The event planner, Shannon Ercek, suggested the caterer, florist, photographer and even answered questions we forgot to ask! She made sure our special day was trouble free by helping us with our preparations well in advance. The Castle holds so much history, it was a privilege to be married there!

Castle Green is an event professional's DREAM venue! Located in one of the best spots in Old Town Pasadena, the Castle is a truly gorgeous and unique venue! I have referred several brides there and we have had rave reviews from every guest in attendance! The staff and the Events Director, Shannon Ercek were extremely professional and helpful. At the beginning of one wedding, I actually spotted her straightening the pillows on the patio furniture! If that isn't special attention to detail, what is?? It is such an easy venue to work with and you get to chose from four catering companies and are able to bring in your own alcohol! We always do signature drinks on the expansive veranda during the gorgeous cocktail hour where guests are allowed to explore the Salon areas and the gorgeous garden views! Not sure why these reviews have to be written by the Bride! LOL. My new wife and I had a wonderful wedding recently at Castle Green. We both fell in love with the place the moment we saw it, and new it was the place for us. Was slightly bummed that it was too warm a night (the first of November) to light the big fireplace in the main lounge...but we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. Marcela is marvelous, and happy memories of the Castle will stay with us forever!

I am completely happy with our experience with Castle Green. We had an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception. The location is beautiful, no doubt! Photo Ops galore! Marcela was a breeze to work with. She took all my calls, there were a few, with stride. We did choose to use an outside caterer which meant having to pay an additional fee to CG. However we still saved a ton of money because the caterers they recommend were, in my opinion, very over priced. There are quite a bit of rules that must be follwed due to that fact that the location is also a residence. I would and have recommended the location to others, I would just say make sure you really read the contract well and ask any and ALL questions before signing on the dotted line. As with any location you need to know the specifics.Overall this was a dream location. I really have no complaints about our day!Many of our guests said it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to!I think that should say it all!

The outside of Castle Green has beautiful green lawn and the pond/fountain is very pretty. The historic structure is very majestic. It's excellent for wedding photographs. However, the traffic noise really bothered us, especially on a busy Saturday afternoon in Old Town Pasadena area. We could hear the bus drove by and the helicopter in the air. Besides the uncontrolable issues, everything else was great. The facility has a lot restrictions like to food and beverage in the carpet area. It was very challenging for our ushers and wedding coordinator. We put signs up, but many of our guests ignored the signs. So our ushers and coordinator have to inform our guests several times. I guess in order to maintain the historic building, this is something we have to suffer.

We had our wedding reception at the Castle and it was absolutely beautiful! The outside grounds are perfect for taking pictures. The only thing we were not to fond of was that it was an extremely hot day and even with the AC on the ball room was WAY too hot! Not sure if the instalation is not up to code or what, but it honestly felt like we didn't even have an AC on. If it wasn't for that our day would have been just perfect! Castle Green truly is a beautiful place and I would recommend it to others, Marcela was very helpful and always took my calls and answered all of our questions. The only thing I would say is if you're going to get married here make sure it's not during a really hot time of the year, we got married in late September and the weather still was too hot for the quality of AC the Ballroom has.

Castle Green is an amazing venue. We had our wedding ceremony and reception there. Both were held outdoors. It was beautiful. The events coordinator was very responsive to all of our questions and got back to us in a timely manner. If you are thinking of having your wedding there I would highly recommend it. My only thing that I didn't care for too much for was that the bathrooms were inaccessible to those that are disabled and that there were only a few stall available. Other than that, I think it is an amazing place to have a wedding!!!!PS if you do end up having you wedding there, be sure that the DJ stops playing the music a few mins before your rental ends. otherwise, residents @ castle green get pretty cranky and you will get charged even if you are a min. after your rental is over.

Castle Green was the perfect place for us. You walk in and step back in time. It was built in the 1880's and the building brings all of that authentic charm and life to the wedding. There are old photos on the walls, a grand staircase, various parlors with endless things to look at, a beautiful sun room, a giant porch that wraps around the building, a pretty fountain and a great classic ball room. Marcela, the contact as Castle Green is easy to work with and a total sweetheart. Every time you talk to her you feel her genuine excitement for you about the wedding, and she works her butt off to make sure you have what you need. She gives great recommendations for vendors and everything went flawlessly for us. We had our wedding on a hot day during the wildfires, but most of the vendors had worked there before and knew just how to handle it all - when to put out the flowers, when to deliver the cake etc. The ballroom is the only air conditioned room, so be forewarned if that's a problem for you. At our wedding nobody even noticed the heat though - the venue was just too interesting to care....and we were all sweaty from the dancing anyhow. The great thing about Castle Green is that nobody will feel trapped in a ball room. There is plenty of space to roam and things to see. We loved it!

i had my perfect wedding in castle green! The coordinator Marcela pierce is very nice and helpful, very experienced and patience to explain everything for me. it's a very nice venue if you want to have a really antique taste wedding. Everyone was happy and enjoy my wedding!! Highly recommand!!!

I recently got married at Castle Green (March 2009) and had overall a good experience with this venue. I feel like there are much easier venues to get married at and at times I wished I had picked those but it was worth it in the end to have such a beautiful event.

Pros:
- Outdoor wedding space on the lawn is scenic and gorgeous
- The lobby looks amazing filled with guests.
- Marcella, the venue coordinator, is a joy to work with. She is genuinely kind, warm, and friendly and works hard to be as helpful as possible. The restrictions at Castle Green can be quite annoying and Marcella always tried to help me come up with other options or resources.
- The grand old fireplace is supplied with complimentary wood.
- Costs include security who watches over your gifts and the gates so only guests enter.
- 200 gold chivari chairs and 20 round tables included.

Cons:
- Even though we got married on a Sunday evening which is supposed to have less traffic than Friday and Saturday, the street noise was still loud and distracting (and we had a wireless mic setup).
- Outside catering fee was $10 a person but because I already had a deposit down, Marcella gave me a discount.
- A full kitchen needs to be set up outside and my caterer told me that Castle Green only provided them with a hose as a sink. All drinking water had to be trucked in.
- A babysitter had to be hired for every 5 kids.
- Every vendor had to fill out a form and you were responsible for making sure that happened.
- If your petal aisle is not cleaned up, you're charged $100. I found that out 2 days before and my florist was able to take care of it thankfully.
- Ballroom is kind of crowded. We were told 220 could fit in there. I don't see how that is possible. We had 170 and it felt very full.
- No candles but Castle Green lets you borrow 100 led flickering candles.
- Pay for valet service or have your guests park in the city parking garage.

In summary, the venue is gorgeous and unique but before you book, I highly recommend that you read the contract very carefully and ask Marcella as many questions as possible to know all of the details you are expected to take care of.

Castle Green is indeed a beautiful place to host a wedding. The grounds a re well kept and the interiors are very nice. However, every castle has its secrets. If you book an event here be prepared to spend a very huge amount of money (not including food and decorations). When we had our wedding here, they made it almost impossible to pick another vendor that was not theirs. I felt they made a deal with their vendors to give them some profits if they are booked at a wedding as opposed to any outside vendors. We had a very challenging time with this. Also be sure to put the EXACT amount of guests you will be having at the reception or you will end up paying more per person and end up with no chairs for your guests. They will only put out the EXACT amount of chairs as the guest list you provide. As a result, we over estimated and ended up losing money here, but we couldn't afford to have our guests standing during dinner. The bathrooms needed much renovation and better cleaning for our event. The sound for the DJ did not travel well across the ballroom resulting in very poor quality acoustics for the building. Clean up was a nightmare. Not only did you have to pay approximately $6,000 just to have your event here, but the cleaning is not included which resulted in me, the bride sweeping and cleaning after my own wedding. This was horrible because we were literally exhausted! I did not feel like the princess in the castle. During my event I felt myself and my guests had to treat the place as if it was made out of crystal. The home owner's association made us feel like they would persecute us if any chair was out of place or stacked up wrong at the end of the night. Which resulted in a very uncomfortable and fearful feeling for us during our event. The price was much too high concidering we had almost no time to set up decorations and clean up. The time allowed for us to be in that venue was the worst 5 1/2 hours. I fellt my wedding reception was rushed and I had no time to enjoy it. If you have the money and want a short wedding this is the place. The only positive thing was the events director who tried her best to help us on top of all the limitations the homeowner's association placed on us. She remained professional and courteous through this whole ordeal. We thank her.

Castle Green is a stunning place to have a wedding. The venue provided an on site wedding coordinator who did a great job the day of our wedding. If you are interested in this site for your wedding I highly recommend taking a tour of the facility. The only negative thing I can mention is that there was some street/traffic noise during our ceremony but that was expected since the ceremony site is right next to a main street. Other than that everything was top notch.

I couldn't be happier with the attention that we received from Castle Green. They were so pleasant to deal with and had an answer to every question we could think of to make our reception perfect. A beautiful venue that I will try to use again if I can find an excuse!

This venue is beautiful. We planned to get married here, but after some minor issues that came up (not with Castle Green) we switched the date of our wedding and Castle Green was not available. Their customer service was wonderful and thry tried to accomodate us and work with us unfortunately we were not able to get the date we needed. I definitely recommend them!

Castle Green is an amazing place to have a wedding.

As soon as my husband saw this place, he knew he wanted it. It's an old hotel turned into a residence but has still managed to keep its historical charm. We had the ceremony in the front, garden area near the pond and it really looks lovely in our photos. I was afraid that the sun would be a problem (the wedding was at 6:00pm in September) but it wasn't at all. The building blocked it and the lighting was just perfect for our pictures.

The reception took place in their ballroom while cocktail hour was done throughout the first floor of the old hotel. It created the perfect atmosphere for our guests. We wanted them to feel as if they had somehow stepped back in time and were attending an elegant masquerade ball. It was exactly right. They had the freedom to mingle and drink before dinner was even served. Another bonus to this place is the grand stairwell. It was an excellent way to make an entrance which we decided to do instead of entering after everyone sat down for dinner.

Everything about Castle Green was wonderful. Our guests loved the atmosphere and we enjoyed planning around the unique charm of this place.
If you want a unique and elegant feel for your wedding, this would be the perfect place to go.

We could not have chosen a more perfect venue for our wedding. Castle Green is simply amazing. The decor is very classy, and the grounds are breathtaking. Our guests were blown away! We would recommend anyone to use Castle Green for their wedding!

Castle Green was beautiful. The moment my fiance, well now husband, stepped through the doors, we knew it was where we had to be. They treated us very nicely, and understood what we wanted. They are a little strict about things, but it is an historical place and needed to be treated with respect. My guests had an amazing time and every comment I got back was how beautiful the place was.

Castle Green was the first vendor that we booked and I have to say that from the moment we walked in, I knew I had to get married here. This place is amazingly beautiful, both inside and out. The grounds and building are maintained meticulously and are just gorgeous.

We had originally planned to have the ceremony outdoors and reception indoors, but we had a freak rainstorm the day of our wedding (weather channel called it "unprecedented"!) and the ceremony was moved indoors at the last moment. It actually turned out beautiful, intimate, and cozy, there is not one place in this venue that you couldn't have a lovely ceremony.

Staff was helpful. Once we booked the venue we really had no dealings with them except to schedule the rehearsal. We were able to have a one-hour outdoor rehearsal at no additional cost. And don't worry that the hotel has been converted to condos - you will probably not see any of the residents.

It is not especially cheap, but cost does include the Chivari chairs (which you don't need to cover - hooray!) and the round tables for the reception. They have A LOT of guidelines, including NO open flames (i.e. no candles), no runners on the grass, no more than five children under 13 etc. etc. but we had no problems with these. Best part is you can bring in your own alcohol and depending on your caterer you won't have any corkage or cake-cutting fees...not bad because many venues will nickel and dime you on these various fees.

We have had so many compliments on our venue choice and I know the photos are going to be awesome. I can't imagine having our wedding anywhere else.

Castle Green is a beautiful venue - our guests loved it and we did too. The staff there was very pleasant and accommodating throughout the planning process. The logistics are a bit complicated (no kitchen on site) but our caterers had no problems working around the rules set by Castle Green. Our photos were fantastic, thanks to the beautiful gardens.

Castle Green is a beautiful place to have a wedding. My husband and I had an outdoor ceremony, and the onlny thing that we were disappointed with was the fact that it was rather noisy because of Pasadena traffic. We did not notice, but some of our guests commented that it was difficult to hear the ceremony. Though other people have been dissatisfied with the communication at Castle Green, we did not experience any problems. One thing to note, however -- if you're having a wedding in the summer, even with the air conditioning, the ballroom gets pretty hot. Most of our dancing guests were pretty sweaty by the end of the night. You won't be disapointed with the surplus of picture opportunities. This is a perfect place to hold a Victorian themed wedding.

Simply beautiful! Very affordable compared to other places not nearly as elegant. Everyone was nice and willing to help. The rooms inside make a great place for guests to gather for cocktails, and the ballroom is perfect. This is the best place for a fairy tale wedding.

I had my wedding here on December 10, 2006. I thought it was a great location - very unique. The staff was sometimes frustrating to communicate with (thus the three stars), but overall I would highly recommend Castle Green. My pictures came out beautiful - just a lovely and unique location capturing the charm of Pasadena.

Castle Green is absolutely gorgeous! The décor is so classic, and you feel like you have escaped to another world. It has a lot of personality and charm, and our guests had a blast! We particularly liked that they have tables, and chavari chairs which are included in their price. We didn’t like that they charge extra for a/c (which barely worked, esp. in the lounge rooms), and it was often hard to get in touch with the person in charge of events there. Also, if you do want to bring your own caterer, you are charged $5 a head. If you can get over the “we can add these charges simply because, we can, and we don’t need your business” attitude, and just take it for what it is, you will love it. It was an incredible and dreamy backdrop for our reception, and I would definitely recommend it!

Castle Green is a lovely Victorian Hotel now converted into private luxury apartments. The former hotel lobby, conservatory, cigar room, solarium, ballroom, and outdoor garden are available to rent for weddings and events. If you are looking for something unique and not the run-of-the-mill wedding location, definitely check this location out. Many movie studios have even used this building for filming locations and you will understand why, the inside is lovely complete with period furnishings!! So not only will your wedding location be rememberable, but so will all your wedding pictures~~~I had an indoor wedding ceremony in the conservatory, in front of one of their many grand fireplaces, and then the reception in the ballroom. The price tag is high, but it's well worth it!!!

This is a beautiful venue! I loved my pictures and I loved the uniqueness that my wedding had! These people were great to work with. The only problem I had was that I was asked to allow people in the main hall who were filming on the top floor, use the elevator, but they worked with me on this and we did not have to accommodate them. I love the fact that you can have a ballroom as well as the other entry rooms for appetizers and such. It was just great! They aren't that flexible in terms of allowing you to spend a lot of time beforehand taking pictures, but we got a good 3 hours at the location to get ready and everything. A WONDERFUL SITE!!!

I've photographed weddings at Castle Green for over two years now and can tell you that the staff is on top of having everything ready. The archetecture, the grounds, the furniture, the lighting, are all from a elegant by gone era when the Green was built around 1910.

What a great setting for a wedding. Whether inside of out, the location has style and class.
