Joanna and Paulette were a pleasure to work with. They always answered my phone calls with crazy questions and were super organized. Everything went so smooth and the venue ROCKED! Loved the fact that we were able to have the rehearsal dinner there the night before then ceremony and reception throughout the property the next day. Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much for all that you both did to make my day special!

My grandmother was diagnosed with life-threatening cancer and was scheduled for an emergency surgery during my wedding. Because of the urgency, we were forced to call Castle McCulloch on Christmas Eve. We were told that no refunds would be possible, that the date would be easily filled again, and that they would not comprise with us.

Where do I begin? Gorgeous venue-I will say I couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else. I received so many compliments. With that said, I did find that I was promised the moon when looking for a venue, but when finalizing plans, I could no longer fit 150 people, use whichever caterer I wanted or have my rehearsal after 4:00. I think the thing that bothered me the most, though, was the fact that no one welcomed me or even acknowledge my presence during the entire rehearsal, ceremony or reception. When I tried to ask where the bathroom was by knocking on the office door, I was yelled at and told I wasn't allowed to utilize that area. It just seemed like a very uninviting atmosphere. The bar service is insanely expensive, and I'm pretty positive I was overcharged but had no way of proving it when comparing my records to theirs. With reservation, I would probably still recommend this venue.

PROS: This was a very pretty spot for my cermenony and reception. The atmosphere was so renaissance that I did not have to decorate very much. I recommend the Iron Works package as the candle holders are very sturdy and fit into the theme. We had the Queen's Chambers only, perfect for around 25-50 people. Rosa Maes catered a Medieval feast and assisted totally with cleanup and putting away the Iron Works. For an August wedding and me in long sleeves (evening), no air conditioner, it was a little warm but not to bad as this is more like a basement area. The lighting in the ceremony room was controllable.
CONS: In my opinion, the wedding that was happening upstairs at the same time, kind of ruined my quiet ambience as thier DJ music was BOOMING all the way into the Queen's Chambers. I only had a nice stereo with piano music. The attendant at the time was kind, and asked us if she should go upstairs and ask them to turn it down a notch, but we declined as we didn't want to ruin the other wedding.
Overall this is a wonderful venue with great...

Castle McCulloch was fantastic. I couldn't imagine my wedding anywhere else. It was beautiful, clean and elegant. They also worked with me well while I dealt with being long distance while planning and also when a death in the family through us through a loop. They really worked with us to make sure our day was special no matter what.

When we viewed the venue last year, we fell in love with it, but when we had our wedding there 2 weeks ago the carpet was stained and absolutely disgusting. We were embarrassed for our friends and family to see it since we had raved about how beautiful it was last year. Furthermore, we also had our wedding taken over by a new castle representative, who has no idea what they are doing and over stresses their value and place of importance. Three days before our wedding she tell us we have a balance due even though she corresponded with us several times the three weeks leading up the wedding and never said a word. The Castle's vendor point system does not help you save money. You think you are getting a credit and you do get a small discount but you need to use all of their preferred vendors. Also, I found out from one of their preferred vendors that they have to pay to be on that preferred vendor list. So all I can say at this point is watch every move you make and every penny and hope that you don't get the shaft by the "new bridal show producer" as she calls herself.

It was a very pleasurable experience to have our Wedding here! The people were nice to talk to and work with. I just wish the time slots were longer so we could have had more time to do the various activities. But looking back it was a great value, beautiful and made our wedding day very special. Thank you again.

This is a beautiful venue to get married at. From the moment we walked into the Crystal Garden Ballroom I just knew that this was where I had to get married! It is a little pricey depending on what your wedding budget is, so we did our wedding on a Friday instead of a Saturday, which saved us a good bit of money that way. You do have to do a lot of the stuff yourself (alcohol, decorations on a tight schedule, clean up, etc), which was fine because the place was so gorgeous to have as our ceremony/reception. I also felt like we didn't need a crazy amount of decorations because the venue itself was beautiful on it's own. We used an outside caterer, which was AMAZING and they did a wonderful job, but you have to pay a fee for that sort of thing. Overall, it was a great and memorable experience and I'm glad that my husband and I could have our big day there!

I will start by saying that the venue is beautiful! However, definitely NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!! Reason being, pitifully poor customer service. The ladies you deal with are not on the same page. I was quoted one price, then charged an additional $1000. Took my complaint to the manager and was pretty much called a liar. The girl that quoted the incorrect price. I would have conceded and paid the higher fee and been okay if they would have admitted that she misquoted the price. Instead, they told me I misheard or made up the conversation that took place. Our wedding was in the Crystal Garden. Two of the three air conditioners were out so we were all hot. We had to have large, visually unappealing fans brought in to cool the area. They were loud as well. I urge anyone interested in this venue to look elsewhere. They stay extremely busy, and I believe that is why they have such poor customer service. You do not want to deal with these people while planning the happiest day of your life. I wish you luck in your search for a venue and hope this was helpful.

This place was my dream location and they helped make it happen. I couldn't afford a Saturday wedding in May here but they worked with us to find a day that we could afford. We ended up with Sunday date and I couldn't have been happier. Everyone was very nice and professional. The location is beautiful and I highly recommend it. We had our ceremony in the Great Hall, our cocktail hour on the Great Hall Patio, and our reception in the Crystal Garden. Photos came out amazing!!

Absolutely AWESOME place to have a wedding. How could any girl turn down a wedding at a castle? Everything was perfect and the weather cooperated. Thanks.

I fell in love with Castle McCulloch the first time my mom and I were there for a bridal expo. The only area I would say that needed improvement would be the time limit placed on my wedding. We were not allowed in the castle prior to 4:30 and had to be finished by 10:30. For this reason, things seemed a little rushed. That said however, the experience as a whole was very enjoyable from the planning all the way to the actual event. Everyone at the Castle was very professional and went above and beyond to provide us with whatever they could within certain limitations.

I loved this place it was the perfect place to get married I wouldn't of had my wedding anywhere else!

BEAUTIFUL venue! All of the staff at Castle McCulloch were extremely helpful and friendly. My reception was in full swing and my time frame was nearing its end, but they had no issues with me extending everything one more hour; I just had to sign a quick paper. I honestly cannot imagine getting married anyplace else.

I really enjoyed having my wedding at this place. It was a great price for the reception and ceremony. Although the caterers they provide are a little over priced. You come out cheeper paying a few and going with another caterer outside of what they recommend. and there was a wedding above us that was going on that we were told would be finished by the time ours would start, they were still up there running around for awhile during the ceremony and after..Other than that.. It was a great place to have a wedding!

In the end it did turn out to be a beautiful evening. So I do give the venue 5 stars for the actual location and atmosphere. As for everything else, Kelli is the most unprofessional, rude and unfriendly person I've ever dealt with which is pretty ironic when excited women who are planning the biggest day of their lives are who she's working with. She needs a job in a cubicle because she had zero interaction with clients and that's if and only if she calls you back which makes it really difficult to feel comfortable about planning the venue. Had I known who we'd be dealing with, I would've chosen a different venue.

What a great venue for my daughter's wedding, who wouldn't want to get married in a castle. Easy to work with, provided much of the planning.
GUEST

This was an amazing site. But there were a few things that we were not happy with. First of all they did not record my rehearsal time like we were told they did and when we called to confirm everything a few weeks before the wedding we come to find out that they never recorded it and would not do anything to compensate for their mistake. There were also a lot of rules to have it there, which was just frustrating. The workers were not friendly and were very rude. But the place is gorgeous!

I recently hosted my daughters wedding at Castle McCulloch. It was that fairytale wedding she has always wanted. The reception in The Crystal Garden was breathtakingly beautiful.

The Castle was a beautiful ceremony and reception cite. The place was beautiful and the employees were very helpful. It is a strict business with little flexibility (unless you are willing to pay extra for it), but it was well worth it. I couldn't have asked for a better or more beautiful place to get married.
GUEST

They required you to pay for everything that you could pay for, we needed an extra hour and there was no one using the place before us but we still had to pay $100 extra. Other than that kind of thing they were very good.
GUEST

The Castle was a beautiful and unique place to hold our Wedding. The prices are quite high to rent the place, and the service is not very flexiable. Certain Packages are offered to choose from.
GUEST

The castle is beautiful, but I warn and welcome those who want to use it the same time that I did (December). Warn because there is a lot going on due to the castle's event--Christmas at the Castle and welcome because the price is much more reasonable then during the spring, fall, and especially summer.
GUEST

The Castle was a beautiful place to get married! Even though it was a little expensive, my family and friends and I loved the end result!

Castle McCulloch is beautiful, but expect to pay a lot if you book here. For starters as a venue the cost is moderate to expensive in comparison to other vendors in the triad area of North Carolina. Then they have preferred vendors that they expect you to use which will get you discounts, but if you don't use preferred vendors for certain things like caterers for example, you have to pay additional fees, and the discounts don't apply to the additional fees. If you want alcohol, which you'll likely expect for your toasts, you'll to pay extra for bar service and the discounts for preferred vendors also don't apply to this. If you want a full bar service for mixed drinks, you're going to have to buy all of your own alcohol and bring it in yourself, but you can't have it there any sooner than 72 hours before your event and you have to take the time to label every single one of your bottles and/or cases of beer, wine, champagne. In the time that you book, you have to allow set up time for your vendors as the Castle will not let your vendors on any sooner than the start time that you book, which lessens the actual amount of time for your ceremony and reception if you have the reception on site like we did. You can't use just anyone, as they do have some vendors who have been banned from their venue. A lot of the preferred vendors are just as expensive and are even overpriced. We liked none of the caterers on their list, found a much cheaper florist on our own, and a cheaper photographer. But we did have a great experience with Island Sound DJ's and Rev Ron Grillo who were on the preferred vendor list at the time.
So yes, be prepared that you are going to have annoyances and that there are going to be extra costs than just the original booking. However, the grounds and facilities are beautiful and with the right vendors the atmosphere of your wedding will be amazing. All of our guests said that our wedding was beautiful, and kept gushing about how beautiful the Hillside Terrace and the Crystal Garden were. At the end of the day, my husband and I will say that Castle McCulloch was worth the money that we paid.

My husband, Fiance at the time had always called me a princess, and I got married in a castle. I will never forget my wedding at the castle. When I first saw this place, I had to get married here. I was very lucky to get my wedding here and at the date that I choose, and also I the last minuet. That's another long story. The staff at the castle are awesome. The coordinator that was handling my wedding did laugh in my face when I told her my wedding date. But I proved to her that it could be done. This is the best place in the world to me. And it is actually affordable. We had our wedding and reception in the same place. It was beautiful. We were in the crystal towers room, and it had a circle dance floor in the center. It was around Christmas time, therefore the room already had decorations in it, and at night the entire castle was lit. This was the most beautiful place at Christmas. Perfect for a wedding.

We had our dream wedding at Castle McCulloch in Jamestown, North Carolina. We had many, many people comment on how beautiful our wedding was. It was a gorgeous place to have our wedding. We go back to the Castle for the special events they hold there for the holidays.

This is a beautiful vendue and very unique. The bar is a bit overpriced, but it works out.

I had a beautiful wedding at Castle McCulloch. They were able to put together everything for me in just 5 weeks. Even though it rained on my wedding day it could not have gone any better. There was more then one wedding that day but you could not tell that we were not the only ones there!
Castle McCulloch is a great place to host any event. The professional staff teamed with a ONE OF A KIND venue makes this an excellent choice for a wedding.
Absolutely beautiful wedding venue!
Castle McCulloch is a beautiful venue to host an engagement party, bridal shower, ceremonies, and receptions. With the variety of indoor and outdoor options, you can't go wrong with choosing Castle McCulloch as your host site!
First, Castle McCulloch is an utterly stunning and unique venue for your wedding and reception--whether you prefer the medieval feel of the Greaqt Hall or Queen's Chambers, the contemporary glass Crystal Garden with its magnificent vies, or the covered patios that also provide vistas of the exquisite grounds. But, in addition, the staff is absolutely fabulous. Joanna is their GM, and I dare not list all my other buddies there for fear of leaving someone out but, whenever I see any of them, it's all hugs and kisses and catching up--they are sooo sweet and they do not let anything fall through the cracks. You will looove everything about The Castle! As an Officiant, I've been a Preferred Vendor there since, I think, 1999!
I've been a Preferred Vendor, an Officiant, at Castle McCulloch since, I think, 1999. I loooove working there! First, the site is absolutely stunning and one-of-a-kind, whether you want the medieval-feeling Queen's Chamber of Great Hall, the contemporary glass Crystal Garden, or one of the roofed and elegant patios with stunning views of the grounds. But, also, their staff--impeccable! JoAnna's the GM and I won't list everyone on the rest of the staff because I'll leave someone out (feels like the Oscars...) but. whenever I see anyone and everyone on their staff, I just go up and hug them! I also love participating in their Wedding Shows, year round. Castle McCulloch and everyone who works there is a treasure!
I am so looking forward to working with Castle McCulloch. What a beautiful venue for any event!
