First of all, the food is amazing! Your guests will get a great meal at a reasonable price that's easier on your wallet than a lot of caterers. The waiters were very professional and constantly clearing tables as guests were finishing their meals. Jack is sometimes difficult to get in touch with, so email is the best form of communication. He is very accommodating and offered to even make our signature cocktail as long as we provided the recipe and the additional ingredients. He also gave us some extras (like glassware instead of plastic) at no extra charge. I definitely recommend this caterer!

I had Jack as my caterer and he was an awful man! He wouldn't call or write me back when I had questions close to the wedding. I actually had to have my dad call him to get any response from him. He says he was giving us a deal...I know I could've gotten a better deal AND service with someone else. On the day of the wedding, we showed up 20 min early and I just peeked my head in the reception site to look around. I was NOT coming in, I just wanted to see what it looked like. We still had pictures to take outside. Jack came rushing over and was yelling "does this mean you are going to end your reception early?!? we have a contract that starts at 6:30!!!". I was flabergasted!!! He then proceeded to turn his back on me and said "I'm not dealing with this sh*t" before I could even say one word. Needless to say, I was extremely upset! How dare he talk to me that way on my wedding day! He then threw our leftovers away and tried to tell me he left them for us on the gift table. He lied and was a complete unprofessional! I would NEVER recommened him to anyone!!! I had heard that he was a jerk but now I can tell you first hand that he was one to me. I wish I had listened to everyone that told me not to use him. I hope this helps anyone who is thinking of using his services.

Jack was an amazing caterer and was absolutely helpful throughout the entire process. He, like our other vendors, was willing to work with us even though we had a short time period to prepare for the wedding. He was very helpful in coming up with a creative menu that the guests enjoyed a lot. He was also helpful in bringing extra tables, napkins and other things to make the reception space come together very well. I really appreciate Jack and his entire team that worked very well to make our wedding reception a memorable event!!

Just 3 weeks before our wedding, we ran into a glitch. Long story short, we were without a caterer. I got in contact with with Jack, we requested a quote and since I had a bad first experience, I had many, many questions. Jack was patient with me and understood my concerns. He answered every question and got back to me quickly. Once we decided to take it a step further, Jack offered to come to our home to do a tasting. That's right. He came to our house for a tasting! He brought a ton of food, all extra's stayed with us, and there were lots. I didn't even have to cook dinner the next night. He hung out with us. Played with our little pug. And he went through the list of rentals we had reserved, made recommendations on changes, discussed layouts, etc.

At the wedding, while we were taking our formal pictures, I saw the fried oysters being passed around. I had to grab one. The photographers had to wait for me to finish chewing, twice. They were so delicious! We walked into the tent, the first thing I saw was a long table full of cheese, dips and fancy chips and crackers. My husband and I had our first dance, walked over to our sweetheart table and we were immediately greeted by a lovely staff member with food filled plates in hand. They served all 4 of our reserved tables, all other guests went through the buffet. The staff was amazing, so helpful, yet discrete. They were running around everywhere all night. The bartenders were fun and professional. We loved them all. Jack helped us with the cake cutting. He packed up food for us, packed up the top tier of the cake, oh even transported the cake to our location, 1.5 hours away from Richmond.

The food was absolutely delicious. Our wedding was 3 weeks ago and we are still getting complements on our food. We had a little less than 100 guests, we love and appreciate good food. When you start to cook for that many people it's hard to keep up the quality. But Jack did a great job. Everything was lovely! We had steak, fish, fresh veggies, fresh salad, red potatoes, fresh bread baskets on every table, water pitchers on every table. It was truly lovely!

The lunches were delivered on time.

We were married in August 2010. Catering by Jill provided mediocre food and terrible service. The staff was exceptionally rude to our guests. We had many of our friends tell us of rude comments for days after the wedding. We were embarrassed and humiliated. The owner of the company gives a good sales pitch when you are interviewing. He is a good bit cheaper than other caterers in the area. Beware! Spend the extra money for a better caterer so you will not be remorseful and dissappointed on the day that is supposed to be lovely.

Food and presentation were exceptional. They handled everything with great style.We worked with them and I can not say enough good things about her. I can not even tell you how many people told us it was the best meal at a wedding they have ever had. I of course agree.

I've known Jack for a few years now and I always kept him in mind for an event that I would hold. He has done several events for my friends that I have attended myself and I thought he did nothing but an excellent job. Not only Jack, but his servers as well. Everyone was polite, on schedule, and the food was great. I have recommended him many times to people I know who need a caterer and can't wait to work with him again in the future.

Catering by Jill was fantastic. People are still talking about the food at my wedding. Jack went above and beyond to make me happy. We had a 200 person reception.

Catering by Jill provided great services during my wedding in November 2008. All our guests enjoyed the food and I have recommended them to friends. They understand that people can get a little crazy when setting up a wedding or other similar event, but they have everything under control. They are great! I have to say the chef that was there on my wedding day went above and beyond her duties. Thanks again!

Catering by Jill was wonderful! The staff is friendly, professional, and so easy to work with. The food was exceptional, and everything went perfectly. We actually booked Catering by Jill to do my brothers rehearsal dinner in July! You can't go wrong with them!!!

Catering by Jill was the perfect option for our June wedding last year. They made the daunting task of choosing a menu quite easy, and did everything in their power to make my day perfect. Jack was friendly, knowledgable and just really awesome and flexible, during the planning. He really gets a lot of credit for keeping everything from becoming too stressful! The entire staff was enthusiastic and just as excited about my wedding as I was! On the day of, the serving staff were friendly, courteous, professional--just everything I had hoped for and then some. The food was, of course, excellent. Their seafood mousse is to die for.

The best part, thiough, is that they take a truly personal interest in their clients. I ran into Jack and some of his staff catering another event later in the year, and before I even recognized them, they had remembered me from my wedding day. I don't think you can get any better than that--when your caterers become more than just your caterers, but rather neighbors who you see around town and say hello to? Catering by Jill was just wonderful, and I would recommend them not only for weddings, but for any large event. They will make is special, with their good food, great attitudes, expertise, and creativity. Catering by Jill rocks.

My parents actually used this caterer for their wedding in 1994 and I was so impressed by them that I used them for my wedding. Plus unlike other caterers, they provide the following items at no additional charge: Glass plates, cake cutting service, real flatware, linen napkins in your choice of basic colors, buffet, beverage, and cake tables with linens in your choice of basic colors, cocktail napkins, service equipment, and beverage service equipment. They also do not charge any additional gratuity unlike other caterers.

I have had many brides use Jack for their caterer. His staff is the nicest people ever!

We have worked with Catering by Jill for many, many years. Jack and Susan are very flexible and easy to work with. They can plan a huge convention-style wedding or a small, intimate affair. The menu choices are very extensive. Their food and service are exceptional! We highly recommend them for your next event!
