Our wedding cake was the absolute most delicious cake we have ever tasted. No exaggeration, the thing was amazing. Our guests are still talking about our chocolate-peanut butter creation...so yummy! I don't even know if you can get Windows to make you a wedding cake if they aren't catering your event, but it is worth a try. Our cake was included in our catering proposal, but we still tried about 10 other places thinking we could find something better. Windows was the best, hands down!

I am giving Windows 5 stars across the board because the bottom line is we got everything we paid for and then some.
After extensively researching and interviewing caterers on the venue's preferred list, we knew we found a one-stop shop for all things reception with Windows, and specifically, Nicole, our event manager. Nicole worked so hard to come up with a delicious menu and beautiful settings with our budget and our tastes. When we wanted to cut something out or add something in, she gently discussed with us pros and cons. She handled all of our table, linen, and equipment rentals, and also put out our centerpieces (non-floral), homemade table numbers, favors (different by table). I still do not know how it all came to look so perfect and beautiful in the 2 hours she had to make it all happen.
The food and service throughout was fantastic; they made sure we ate, Nicole made sure we were on time for dances, speeches and cake cutting. I did hear the bartenders were making drinks a little strong, but we had a good drinking crowd (not to mention a shuttle service).
Windows also handled our cake; the food was DELICIOUS. As I said before, Windows was worth the price; food, service, planning, etc.; well worth it.

Let me start of this review by saying one thing: YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't even fully describe how delicious Windows Catering Company's food was. We were impressed from Day 1 when they offered for us to come in for a tasting. We chose one their Buffet Reception 1 package (salmon, chicken piccata, london broil, eggplant casserole, goat cheese ravioli) because of the amazing amount of variety it offered, and we were not disappointed. Windows created a whole spread for us to try, including two types of wedding cake we selected. Each entree on the buffet was accompanied by two vegetable sides, so the variety seemed endless. As a vegetarian, I was especially impressed with the amount of food there was for me to try. I had more on my plate than my meat-eating husband did! It was all wonderful, and on our wedding day it was even better. We had many guests ask us where the food was from and tell us how delicious it was. The wedding cake (white chocolate raspberry) was also extremely beautiful and delicious with real raspberries inside. I also felt that there prices were affordable for the quality of the food that we received. I would recommend Windows Catering to any couple in the DC metro area!

The food at a Wedding is one of the most important details. Windows has always provided the best of the best for us. Our engagement party, rehearsal dinner and our Wedding were impecable. The food is unvelivable tasty and the quality of their service is great! My mother-in-law has always used them and there is no doubt we will keep using them for future events. Thanks to Cinthya and all the crew from Windows for helping make our special day more special!

Windows did an elegant and delicious buffet reception. They provided waiters and staff. They also coordinated the bar and equipment rental. The Windows bakery made our cake. Everything was simply perfect! We genuinely enjoyed working with Windows.

Windows Catering provided exceptional catering services for our June wedding at Woodend Sanctuary in Chevy Chase, MD. They were among the list of preferred vendors that the venue provided, and after much research we decided they were the perfect fit.
Windows easily accommodated our request to have dinner served family style so that people could eat as much as they wanted without having to stand in line for a buffet, and did so at a reasonable price. Our event consultant, Nicole, was absolutely fantastic-- she was there from the initial planning stages right up until the bouquet toss on the day of the wedding, and helped us with our menu choices and any additional requests.
Most importantly, the food was AMAZING. I fully expected it to be delicious at the tasting, but was pleasantly surprised by how incredibly tasty everything was at the wedding! We have gotten numerous compliments from our guests regarding the quality of both the food and cake and the helpful and attentive wait staff/bartenders. Thank you Windows for making our wedding day perfect! I would absolutely, without hesitation, recommend their services to anyone considering using Windows for their wedding.

My daughter, Caitlin, was married at Oatlands Plantation, that required us to select from a preferred list of vendors. After visiting a number of caterers, we knew without question that Debbie Beard of Windows would be our choice. Debbie was dynamic, creative, professional, energetic, empathetic, dedicated and fun. She took my daughter's Alice in Wonderland theme and together with Michael Corrado of Dever's Design, created magic. For cocktails, the "White Rabbit" and "Alicetini" were served in off-kilter glasses. The glassware on the tables were like tulips; the linens, napkins and seat cushions were delicate pastels all coordinated with the bridal table. Debbie suggested mushroom macaroons with white polka dots so that the "Eat Me" place cards could be easily displayed. Debbie and Michael, working closely together, created an entrance for our guests that took their breath away. The food was hands-down the most delicious food ever - every course, from the appetizers to the salads to the entrees to the desserts were excellent. [I have used Debbie and Windows for business catering and received the same accolades as I did for my daughter's wedding; and another bride we know will be using Windows at her wedding this fall]. Debbie was also my coordinator for which I was relieved; I knew in her hands I could relax and enjoy myself and I did. I will forever be grateful to Debbie and Windows for making my daughter's wedding one of the most perfects nights ever. As one of my friends told me, "it was a gift to us all."

We ended up meeting with two catering companies, Windows and Occasions, and decided that Windows gave us the best food at the tasting. We were not disappointed at the wedding. They were phenomenal in delivering the food that was promised at the tasting. All the wedding guests kept talking about the food and how delicious it was. I plan on asking them for their recipe for the whipped cauliflower... so good! Nicole was our manager and she was a pleasure to work with. After the ceremony, my new hubby and I were greeted in the bridal holding room with our champagne and the an assortment of all the appetizers being served at the cocktail hour so we could have a chance to eat before joining our guests. They really catered to our needs for the wedding and I couldn't have asked for better food!
GUEST

I highly recommend Windows and especially Kelsey Hendrickson! She was fabulous to work with, completely organized, professional and really on top of her game. I must have emailed her dozens and dozens of times, with random ideas that I would have throughout the day/night and she completely delivered! Every minor request I had she fulfilled and I really appreciated all of her help. All of our guests raved about the food, and Rob and I were thrilled with how everything turned out. We had a wonderful time planning the wedding and had the most fabulous time at our wedding and we really owe a lot of that to Kelsey!
GUEST

Windows was wonderful. Everyone at our wedding RAVED about the food - I knew it was good, but honestly was surprised at how much everyone loved it! We worked with Kelsey, who was so helpful, nice, and creative. She worked with us to achieve exactly the sort of spread that represented us, and that we knew would make our guests happy. We looked at a few catering companies, and we definitely got great value for money with windows. It's not cheap, but it's certainly reasonable and very much worth it!
GUEST

Our guests are still raving about our wedding dinner and cake -- not something that is usually a highlight at a wedding! We were sold on Windows after our delicious tasting. And working with Kelsey was easy and fun. She helped us create the look we want, and construct a menu that made sense for our wedding. We are foodies, so food was a top priority for our wedding, and Windows truly delivered. We highly recommend them.
GUEST

Windows did a fabulous job with our wedding. From the table linens to the food, everything was absolutely amazing. Guests continue to make comments about how incredible the food was (filet w/mushrooms, green beans, potato croquette) as well as the cake!! They were so flexible and professional! Debbie Beard was our event planner and she was fabulous to work with. She has great ideas (if you have trouble making decisions) and can work with you to make anything happen! I would definitely recommend Windows and Debbie Beard to all brides!! :)

Listen, to say I loved our caterer would be lying. Because I more than loved them. My husband and I love food. His favorite part of wedding planning was the caterer tastings I drug him to. And I drug him to quite a lot of tastings before we decided on Windows. And that's not because after tasting Windows we were still concerned that it wasn't "the best" (because it was) but we were concerned with the price. It was a bit more expensive than some of the others. But if I had to do it all over again, I'd pick Windows right from the start. Heck, I'll pick Windows when my children have birthday parties! I'm sure their plated dinner would have wowed our guests, but we went with a family style dinner that seriously led to amazing comments from everyone.
Aunt: "I never thought to do family style at a wedding, it was FABULOUS!"
Friend: "I'm mad I ate before I came. Wedding food is always crap and I didn't want to be hungry. I am so sick right now because I made myself eat everything I could because it's so freakin good!"
Windows delivered amazing food and amazing service. Our day kicked off with lemonade and iced tea in the grove before the ceremony. Followed by delicious cocktail hour treats including buffalo chicken skewers per my husband's request. Dinner was plated so beautifully on the platters! And the service included never having an empty wine glass. Thanks for that!!!
Dessert was a brownie buffet and a cupcake buffet. And oh yeah the crowd pleaser - mini ice cream cones that were passed out during the dance party. Everyone was double fisting those!
Really you know it's good when friends post more facebook pictures of the food, than they do drunken self portraits.
ALSO, Nicole was fabulous to work with. She's totally cool and totally on top of it and answered every "I forgot what kind of tables we decided on..." email I sent within a few hours. She set up for us and then had to go, but she left us with another amazing girl whose name escapes me right now, but is the sole reason my mother didn't get smashed. I'd see her trading my mom a glass of water for every glass of wine she had. So funny, and I really could kiss her for being so awesome.
GUEST

We worked with Nicole at Windows for our June 26 wedding. She was so accommodating at every step of the way. I planned the wedding from Los Angeles, only coming into town for a few trips. She worked around my visits and within our budget. I would definitely, definitely recommend them again. Guests were raving about the quality and quantity of food (and trust me, it was not an easy crowd). When there was a minor snafu with the soft drinks (we used an outside vendor who unfortunately left them off the order), Windows took care of it all -- and didn't even let me know until after the wedding so I didn't worry about it on the day! You guys are awesome!!!!
GUEST

We had the most wonderful experience with Windows Catering. Our contact, Debbie Beard, was simply superb. We always felt as if we were the only guests and clients and Debbie was always on top of her game. She responded to all questions, e-mails, phone calls not just on the same day but within mins sometimes. We did tastings around DC and hands down, Windows, had the best food. When you come in to their office, you know the company knows what they are doing! Every single guest complimented us on the food. It was fantastic and Debbie's energy was contagious!
GUEST

Windows did a wonderful job at our wedding. I had solicited countless proposals from area caterers, and only Windows met our price point without sacrificing elegance and quality. Our guests raved about the food and service, and we are especially grateful to have had the opportunity to work with experienced event coordinator Debbie Smith.
GUEST

Karol at Windows Catering was amazing! Windows put together an amazing menu that was exactly what I wanted and worked with me to tweak and make changes until I was satisfied! The food was amazing, the staff was wonderful and professional, and everyone is talking about how great it was! Thanks!
GUEST

We thought we were going to go with a small caterer to get the best quality and service...but Windows was amazing. The food was great, our planner was extra flexible and they accommodated all of our requests without hesitating. We bought random china, silver and stemware instead of renting; Windows never even questioned that choice. Excellent catering vendor!
GUEST

I cannot say enough good things about Danielle Couick and Windows. From the very start, Danielle and her team were responsive, professional, competitively priced, and provided the personal touch that we were looking for at our wedding. The food, linens, and staff were absolutely amazing.
GUEST

Danielle Couick of Windows was absolutely wonderful to work with and designed an elegant and well choreographed dinner. Danielle had to work from scratch to create a dining atmosphere as our venue was a museum and not set up to provide dinner to large groups. She created beautiful table-scapes that captured the elegant feel I wanted.
She was extremely flexible and worked to create a menu that fit within our budget. The tasting experience was out of this world and definitely one of the best parts of the wedding planning! And, I cannot say enough about Window's cakes. Choosing a cake from all of the wonderful flavors was our most difficult decision.
Danielle and her wait staff truly impressed me on the day-of with their attention to detail. Danielle made a point to create a plate of hors d'oeuvres especially for my husband and me to enjoy since we missed most of the cocktail hour taking pictures. Thanks to her, we were able to savor a few moments together enjoying fabulous food before joining our guests at dinner.
Danielle was responsive, professional, and simply a nice person. We would highly recommend her and Windows to any future brides and grooms.
GUEST

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Windows. We received so many compliments from family and friends about how wonderful the food and dcor were. Our contact at Windows was Debbie and Im convinced that we couldnt have pulled off our wedding day without her. She was exceedingly professional, flexible, and pleasant to work with; I cant recommend her enough.
GUEST

We worked with Nicole at Windows, and had an absolutely wonderful experience. From our first tasting, we felt that Nicole's tastes aligned perfectly with what we were looking for in terms of linens, place settings, etc and she gave us some fantastic ideas that we wouldn't have thought of on our own. We liked that Nicole gave us a tour of the kitchens - she was great at explaining how everything would work on our wedding day.
We looked at a few caterers and Windows offered competitive prices for our wedding of 125. We got so many compliments on our meal in terms of taste & presentation (the tenderloin served at our wedding was even better than the steaks we had at Mortons at our rehearsal, and everyone loved the pear-shaped potato croquettes). Windows also made our cake - a wedding cheesecake that was to die for, and absolutely gorgeous.
Unfortunately due to an emergency Nicole couldn't be there on our wedding day. So she passed all of our information off to Karol, who was equally wonderful. Karol was an absolute pleasure to work with, and was so prepared, a testament to how well Nicole had it all organized, and everything went off perfectly. The waitstaff as well were professional and very friendly. Windows is definitely a talented and experienced company and I'd highly recommend working with either Nicole or Karol.
GUEST

My husband and I can't express in words how wonderful Windows Catering has been to us! If you are looking for a caterer, you won't find a company that is more professional, flexible, and pleasant! From the delicious food (which my guests are still raving about way after the wedding) to the meticulous details that Windows Catering attended to such as the table cloth & napkins on my table, they had made me a worry-free bride throughout my wedding planning period of a year and a half!
GUEST

Danielle Couick was wonderful. She was always responsive and accommodating and very professional. The food, presentation, professionalism of wait staff was outstanding. I highly recommend having them for any event. Our guests loved the food, especially the cake. I heard raves about the cake. (Almond). Amy McLaughlin

Danielle with Windows I cannot say enough great things. She was AMAZING from day one. Windows had amazing food and created a menu totally around our tastes. We had mini cheeseburgers at cocktail hour that everyone raved about and our cake was chocolate perfection. Danielle was so patient with every change i made and i tasted about 50 cakes before we found the right one. They were so responsive to last minute changes and worked seamlessly on the night of the wedding. While they were expensive they prooved they were worth it in quality, attentivness, creativity, and professionalism. I highly recommmend not only Windows but especially Danielle.

Phenomenal. Windows Catering did such a fantastic job at our wedding I still cant believe it. My coordinator, Arney, was so great to work with extremely professional, responsive, creative, flexible, and best of all she always had a great attitude. She handled quite a few things food, cake, liquor, linens, china. And they were all great. The day of the wedding everything went so smoothly, I was so impressed and so were all of my guests. The food was great (their cakes and desserts are particularly amazing), the setup of everything was gorgeous, the waitstaff was so nice I cant rate them highly enough!

My wedding would not have happened if it were not for Derek Friday from Windows. He went above and beyond a caterer and really became an important component to my wedding. He gives you suggestions, he is flexible, funny, and knows his stuff. He was always there for me and even went to help me pick a florist! I am almost speachless about the abilities of Derek. He will make you feel relaxed that day and will give you a successful wedding. He is just plain amazing!

Just....wow. Windows (Nicole, Amanda) was wonderful to work with - patient, responsive, attentive and sweet. They had wonderful ideas and executed my vision flawlessly. I'm admittedly a bit of a control freak about details, and Amanda set up everything perfectly. Her assistance with shuffling us from place to place during the beginning of the reception was also SO appreciated. In addition, Windows went out and PURCHASED some additional equipment for our cookie table so it would be coordinated. This was not necessary and it really went above and beyond. The biggest compliment we've received from our guests is that the food was incredible - the best wedding food they'd ever had combined with excellent portions. My groom and I *made* time to eat because there was no way were missing out on the strawberry tuna, curry chicken cups, prosciutto purses, or our incredible main courses! When its all said and done, the caterer is really critical for a great wedding and Windows executed wonderfully, even taking on some setup & coordination duties that weren't technically "in scope."
The only reason I'm not giving all 5s is just a general "holy crap" about the cost of the non-food items at a wedding. Windows was much more flexible on pricing than some other companies, and it is ultimately one of the reasons (in addition to fantastic food) that they earned our business! We really got what we paid for!
GUEST

We narrowed our caterer search to two vendors quite quickly and then went through full tastings and proposals with each. We did our tasting at Windows first and it simply set a standard the other "top" caterer in DC couldn't match - from presentation to food, Windows was superior. We were matched w/Karol as our representative and she was so amazing we didn't feel the need to hire a DOC.
When we found a table setting during our other tasting, Karol was quick to track that down for us and when my husband wasn't crazy about the fish that was done during the tasting, Karol worked with him to develop a different dish and then did a new tasting specifically for him. She also arranged flowers, cigar lounge furniture, lighting (to name a few) for us which was critical because of our crazy jobs.
When we were slightly behind schedule at the reception, they slipped dinner by 20-30 minutes w/out issue and people still raved that it was the best food they ever had at a wedding. She also assigned a server to us for the night to ensure we actually ate and had drinks - this allowed us to really spend time with our guests.
Windows is worth every penny!
GUEST

We worked with Nicole to have our event catered at Top of the Town. They did a fantastic job. Couldn't have asked for more. The menu and price points seem pretty fixed but it worked out for us.
GUEST

Fantastic food! Great staff! Catering manager was very flexible & allowed us to re-taste until they got things exactly the way we wanted. They even made a main dish that we gave them the recipe for. The appetizers were "to die for"!!! We are serious "foodies" as are many of our friends... and we heard such great compliments on all of the food.
We supplied our own alcohol, and when the catering manager realized that we were running low on white wine, she very quietly & tactfully let us know with enough time for her to run to a wine shop and buy an extra case before anyone missed anything...
The waitstaff were always there when we needed them and the entire staff was very pleasant & willing to help us with anything we requested. They served everything on schedule and clean up was done very efficiently.
We would definitely use them again!
GUEST

We choose Windows because they were highly recommended by friends of ours. My first contact with them was horrendous! Nicole would not call me back nor was she helpful when I asked questions. Finally after waiting more than ten days for an answer, I called back and told them I refuse to work with her and unless they assigned us someone else, they would lose our business. The gentleman on the phone told me someone would call me back in 5 minutes. Enter Karol Contreras to the rescue! She apologized for the way we were treated and immediately asked what she could do for us.
Throughout our entire planning process Karol assisted, made suggestions and helped make our vision to come to life. The food was excellent just as it was during our tasting. The presentation was exactly what we had invisioned and the staff was wonderful! They were everywhere we were and it seems that no one had to wait for anything.
Edwin, our bartender helped with a potentially disastrous situation and was extremely kind and helpful throughout the evening. The headwaiter was very kind and stayed by our side most of the evening.
Karol provided little touches that she knew we would like based on previous discussions. Our signature drink was quite a hit with our guests and with us.
Overall, our reception was exactly as we had planned and we could not think of any aspect that we would change. Of course like everyone else has commented, the pricing was high but we were happy with what we received otherwise. I HIGHLY recommend Karol!

Windows Catering served as our caterer for hors d'ouerves, seated dinner, and our wedding cake, for our 6.19.11 wedding.
Our point of contact was Ashley Beard.
We began working with Windows and Ashley a year out from our wedding. Ashley was completely candid and honest with us at all times. She never tried to sway us in any way. She also helped us to find the best foods for our budget and worked with us extensively.
Ashley was prompted in returning emails and phone calls, with both me (the bride) and my parents.
On the day of the event Ashley was there to oversee the catering behind the scenes. She did a great job of making sure the food aspect ran smoothly.
Everything was tasty and the guests enjoyed their meals!
I highly recommend Windows catering for any event!

Right after our engagement, my husband and I sat down and made a list of the things that were important to us entering into wedding planning; high-quality, delicious and accessible food topped both our lists.
We did a lot of research and narrowed down our selections to Occasions Caterers and Windows Catering. We solicited proposals from each company and received similar menus in return; however, the cost quote from Windows was literally thousands of dollar less than Occasions, so we decided to attend a tasting event with Windows.
We were not disappointed. The food was extremely tasty and we were impressed with the variety of options they offered. We contracted with Windows a couple days later.
I had a wonderful experience working with Windows. I was lucky enough to be assigned to Nicole, who worked diligently to ensure that the food and decor for our wedding was flawless. I have a difficult, seasonal work schedule and Nicole was more than accommodating; she provided us with helpful suggestions, while understanding that my husband and I had our own unique ideas.
When our wedding day finally arrived, our guests were thrilled with the high quality of the food they received from Windows- most of our guests commented that it the food was restaurant-quality and not the typical “wedding food” most caterers serve. The Kobe Short Ribs of Beef and the Poblano Corn Souffle we run-away hits (guests told me they visited the buffet for 5th and 6th helpings).
All in all, I am absolutely thrilled with Windows and Nicole. They were professional, helpful, and most importantly, delicious. I highly recommend them.
GUEST

Windows catering provides food that is not your typical wedding food. It is pricey but the food was delicious and our guests still rave over it. I was also pleased with my wedding cake I had provided them with a picture of a beautiful cake and it was replicated exactly. It was perfect. If you are looking to wow your guests, go with Windows.
GUEST

Everything I asked for and more! The food was wonderful--my guests couldn't stop complementing. The linens were wonderful, the staff friendly--everything was prompt, tidy, and professional. Wonderful!
GUEST

I had my wedding at Ospreys Landing, who has their catering service with Windows. I had heard good things about Windows so I was excited to try them out! When I went to the tasting the food was amazing! All my guest at the wedding loved the food! Not one bad comment! Only thing I did hear about was that during cocktail hour the hor dourves ran out. So just make sure that they have enough for all your guest. Other then that the food was perfect!
GUEST

We went with Windows Catering because we were told they are the best. They most certainly were. Our wedding was on June 13, 2010 at Woodend in Chevy Chase, MD. The food was excellent. I have been told by numerous people it was the best food they have ever eaten at a wedding. I also got my cake from the caterer which at first I wasn't sure about. I had guest tell me they ate two pieces because it was soooooooo GOOD! All the food was just perfectly cooked. It was wonderful. I would use them again.
GUEST

Windows was a great choice for our wedding caterer. They were willing to let us take the reins in creating the menu and helped us pick food choices that went with our vision and incorporated many of our favorite foods. I got so many compliments on our wedding cake, and it was delicious! The service at the wedding was exceptional. The wait staff filled my plate for me since I kept getting stopped on my way to the buffet and made sure that my husband and I had everything we needed. They were extremely attentive. Sometimes it was hard to get in touch with our contact at Windows, but overall she was very accommodating and helpful. There were a few details with the food that got missed on our wedding day (ingredients in a salad we had asked for: nuts, cheese, fruit, etc.) but for us, it was a minor mistake.
GUEST

Windows was great! My contact, Nicole was always professional, flexible, courteous and calm. They found solutions to fit my budget. The set up looked fabulous, the food was delicious and they supplied a wonderful basket of food for us to take to our honeymoon suite. I tried several other caterers in the area and they were by far the best.
GUEST

Windows provided an exceptional dinner, exceptional service, and attention to every little detail I requested for my wedding of 250. The logistics were difficult due to the location, but they handled everything beautifully. They cleaned up quickly and thoroughly, and the food got rave reviews from the guests. They are, however, quite expensive.
GUEST

The food at our cocktail hour and reception tasted great! A lot of people came up to us and said they really enjoyed it and had more than one plate. The tasting was great and they answered all my questions. The only downside is that I requested that everything be nut-free (only a few dishes had nuts) but I found out after the wedding from one our guests allergic to nuts that there were nuts in the salad. Other than that everything was great.
GUEST

We heard such wonderful comments from our guests on the level and quality of our wedding menu!! Nicole was wonderful and really went the extra mile! Though a little higher than some of the other regional caterers, the quality and professionalism were definitely worth it! :)
GUEST

They may not be the cheapest option, but they are one of the best. Their chefs are fantastic. They created gourmet versions of some of our favorite dishes, like crab rangoon. We really felt like they listened to what we wanted and delivered. People told us it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. Ask for Ashley!
GUEST

My wedding venue had Windows listed as a preferred caterer and my wedding planner recommended them to me. I also looked at RSVP Catering but chose Windows in the end simply because I thought their food was better. I worked through my wedding planner mostly but also directly with Nicole who was always very nice and helpful. The table set up and linens were beautiful which they helped us select. The food was really the star and we got a lot of compliments on this. They also made the wedding cake which was simple but lovely and also tasty. The staff was very courteous and helpful. This is a very professional company that you can trust completely. I found their pricing to be fair, however I am sure you can find cheaper catering, but perhaps not for the same value. They also recommended we buy our liquor through a store called ACE to keep cost down which ended up being a good idea. The only negatives were that the Windows bartenders cracked the seal to some liquor bottles that were never used so instead of being able to return these to ACE for a credit we had to keep them. Not really a big deal, it was only a few bottles and now my parents will have liquor for years ;) Also they were supposed to hand out mini ice cream cones during dancing and I realized this never happened, but I didn't even notice at the time and no one missed them. Overall we were very satisfied with Windows and my mouth waters just thinking about their yummy food.
GUEST

Windows was fantastic. Working with Nicole Gutierrez was great, she was very helpful and responded quickly to my emails and questions. The food was wonderful and it was exactly what we wanted. I would definitely use them again. It was great that during the cocktail hour and reception there was somebody always near us to fill our wine glasses and make sure that we got some of the cocktail hour food as well!
GUEST

Windows caterer my wedding. The food was delicious! 4 passed hors doeuvres and sit down dinner. We served beef tenderloin, it was cooked to perfection! They did our cupcake wedding cake as well. We had a slight issue with our alcohol delivery and our coordinator from Windows took care of everything!
GUEST

Food was amazing - if you care about how your food tastes and looks, go with this company. It helped me with everything from food, table linens, decor, etc. The only complaint is the responsiveness - we often would not hear from them for weeks after sending a request or question. That said, they were extremely professional when we did speak and communicate and the wedding went without a hitch.
GUEST

Our contact at Windows was Karol. I agree with the other reviews that the food was great, and the cake that they made for us was wonderful and decorated exactly as we asked it to be. In addition, they did not hesitate to cater our location, which had not had many previous weddings. Unfortunately, we found out not long before the wedding that Karol would not be there on the day, which caused my mother (who did most of the planning because I was out of the country) quite a bit of last-minute stress. However, the day went off very well, and Karol was even nice enough a year later to provide us with a "top layer" from our cake for our anniversary, since we did not have a place to store the original. I would recommend them for a friend's wedding and for other events, as well.
GUEST

Windows was great to work with. The only thing I didn't love was my entree, which I felt wasn't quite what it had seemed in the tasting. (And that's why the lower rating in the quality category.) But I think I made a poor choice on entree, and the appetizers, service and decor were wonderful.
GUEST

My husband and I used Window's as our caterer for our wedding on 09/10/2011. The staff worked very hard to get us a special menu that was both unique and cost effective. While the process of selecting the menu took months, the end outcome was perfect. My only complaint was that we would wait long periods of time to hear back from certain people and find out later that there was miscommunication between them and our event coordinator at our venue. Our mac and cheese bar was a hit!
GUEST

I used this catering company for my wedding in July. Kelsey was my catering manager, she was really good. The food was delicious, all my guests were very pleased with their meals. The only thing I was not happy about was their bartenders, who started handing out the cases of alcohol (that I provided) to my guests at the end of the night. It was not a pleasant way to end my wedding night. Their servers also did this with my centerpieces. I had to track down the guests with my alcohol and vases. As a bride, that was the LAST thing I wanted to be worrying about. I was really upset with the Windows staff for doing this. Other than that they were great, but that is a big mistake to overlook.
GUEST

I am still receiving compliments on how good the food was at our wedding! Windows is definitely pricier, but well worth it if you can fit it in your budget. Nicole was very patient with me in crafting a proposal and nailing down the contract. She dropped out of sight during the middle months of wedding planning, but she was as available and responsive as I could want in the weeks leading up to the wedding. Our tasting was great, and she was very helpful with making suggestions. She ended up being a fantastic person in particular regarding specifics about our venue because she had catered a number of events there before. She was able to answer nearly all of my questions about the particulars of where the ceremony chairs should be set up, what the rain plan should be (which we didn't need in the end!), where the tables and buffet and bar should go, and she even recommended that her staff set up water pitchers and glasses near the grove so that our guests could cool off before the ceremony. I went over my budget when I booked Windows, but I don't regret it at all.

Windows Catering did a fabulous job at my wedding! Everyone raved about the food! The wait staff was very attentive especially the event organizer. She made sure that my husband and I were always happy and had a drink in our hand or a napkin to help with the sweat :). They were very quick with setting things up and taking them down. Very efficient! I would hire them again in an instant. Nicole was always very responsive to all the emails I would send! The day was perfect!

I chose Windows because their food was far and away better than any of the other caterers I had tastings with. My guests commented on how delicious the food was--particularly the potatoes au gratin. Just fantastic! The food lived up to my expectations and really pleased me, however it was not an entirely smooth working relationship. First, the woman I worked with wasn't terrific about staying within the budget guidelines I gave her. The first meeting I had with her, she showed me their most expensive tablecloths, when in the end, in order to get the food I wanted, I had to go with their basic twill (which was totally fine with me, so why didn't we start there?). Second, despite a detailed seating chart I arrived to find that my father's table and my mother-in-law's table had been placed at the back of the room. When I asked the organizer to put them in the front, she said it was a problem because of the table size. These were the parents of the couple! In the end it worked out fine and I would hire them again based on the quality of their food, but be prepared to be your own advocate.

Delicious food and great service by Nicole! Amazing service, though do be sure to be thorough with the details. Nicole had a ton of things on her list on our wedding day and really did a good job of getting those done!

We used the list of caterers provided by our venue George Washington's River Farm, and Windows was among them. The initial responsiveness was excellent, and the menu was creative and the price in line with the other quotes we received. Our guests are still raving about the food, and a few have actually asked for recipes.
Where Windows fell whoa fully short was the service. We were told our 3 signature drinks would be ready the moment our ceremony was finished- and my husband and I were excited to see this, servers were to pop from behind the gardens- instead we saw our guests 25 deep waiting for drinks. A dear friend and guest in the event business took the bardenders aside created two lines one for mixed drinks the other for beer and wine to help. OUR GUEST, mind you. The wedding party had to go begging for water on a very hot day- and I as the bride, was told "you'll have to go to the bar for that" when I asked for a cocktail during our picture taking.
The overarching reason we picked windows was the food, which was excellent, people are still raving. The cake was something I didn't spend a lot of time thinking about, and the pastry chef took our invitation as inspiration. It was beautiful, and tasted even better. We served a special frozen lemonade (Del's) prior to our ceremony unfortunately it wasn't properly frozen to the right consistency, and there was a lot of work put into sourcing it-the equipment didn't show up on time.
Overall I would use Windows again, but make sure you go over the service aspect. When you're paying that kind of money this should be automatic. Kelsey Henrickson was pleasure to work with, I highly recommend her.

I'll start off by saying that Windows management has been very responsive to our concerns and took the mistakes made on our wedding very seriously, which makes me think it is not typical. But I think it's important to know these mistakes can happen so you plan around them.
The food was amazing! Our plated dinner was served warm and exactly as it was during the tasting. The cake was outstanding -- tasty and so beautifully decorated.
Nicole was our planner, but she had another wedding on the same day so she assigned her assistant to come to ours. I see from other reviews this has gone smoothly in the past, but details were overlooked in my case. For example, my specialty cocktail was forgotten entirely. Make sure all the details for your day are clearly written down, and make sure you know the person who will be at your wedding and know that they have all the information they need. Also, follow up a few weeks before the wedding to make sure everything is set and issues don't pop up last minute.

The food was good, not great. I've given it some thought before writing this review, and I'm giving them 3 stars because that's what I think my guests would have given them. From our perspective, they deserve less. Let me explain.
I can't comment on the hors d'oeuvres because we didn't get to try any at the wedding. The salad course came out looking very different from the plate we were served at our tasting - the presentation was messy, not the elegant and refined plate I was expecting; the portion was literally half of what we originally saw; and I've never had such a bland "heirloom" tomato in my life (and we're talking July, not the dead of winter).
Entree: Again, different from our tasting, although this time we would say it was an improvement. Our requests were accomodated, but there were other changes as well. It wasn't bad, but not something I'd ask to eat again. Even so, the problem here wasn't the final product, but rather the lack of consistency and communication about what they were going to serve.
Cake: Yes, we had Windows do our cake because it was included. And at the tasting it was DELICIOUS. At the wedding it was nothing special. The thick, dense chocolate filling (I would call it a ganache) that I loved was gone; instead there was chocolate buttercream filling. Also, the decorating was disappointing - they used a cheap papery ribbon around the base that was the wrong color (they had seen a swatch AND had a picture of what we wanted), and that same paper ribbon was creased in several places - the creases literally need to be photoshopped out of our cake pictures, they were that obvious. I wish they had used colored fondant instead of ribbon (which is what I wanted in the first place, but got an odd reaction when I mentioned it at the tasting). Also, we didn't receive any to take back with us at the end of the night (and I couldn't find anyone to ask) - so no 1st anniversary cake for us I guess.
Communication is a little difficult - you will get answers to your questions and emails, but they will be short and probably won't come from the person who you originally contacted, or even from the person who contacted YOU. I was never sure if my questions and requests were being communicated to the right people, and felt as if they always had something better to do or someone more important to talk to. And I did have to correct a few mistakes on the menus that were sent to me, so read them carefully to make sure they have your order correct.
As I said, most of these issues are things that guests wouldn't notice, and we haven't heard any complaints, but we haven't gotten any compliments on the food either. In a nutshell, the food was just average and NOT the same as at our tasting; the customer service seemed hurried and distracted.
I've since heard that Windows does a better job with smaller events and "drop-off" catering (office lunches, etc.) than with big events like weddings. So perhaps only consider them if you're having a smaller affair. Good luck!
Vendor response to review
We sincerely apologize for not exceeding your expectations with our food, presentation, and communication on your special day. Windows has an established reputation for exceptional food and presentation combined with outstanding service. We pride ourselves on the fact that each of our events and weddings follows these standards.
As you’ve pointed out, communication and setting expectations is critical to creating and executing successful events. In terms of the multiple points of contacts, we only assign one wedding designer to each bride for consistency in communication and to allow them to understand your vision for the event. We would be happy to discuss this further to better understand what transpired during the planning process.
We strive for consistency between our tastings and the actual event and apologize if you do not feel this was achieved. For over 24 years we have planned and executed both large-scale events and small intimate affairs as well as developed a strong corporate drop off segment of our business.
Lastly, we are sorry that your wedding cake did not meet your expectations we would love to create your 1st Anniversary cake to the design and flavors you had envisioned.
We take each critique seriously and would like to have an opportunity to hear your feedback and address your concerns in person, please reach out to Andrew Gerstel at 703.752.9402.

First, I have to say the food at our wedding was delicious and we got many compliments. Windows also did a great job of accommodating a couple of guests who showed up uninvited and things seemed to go smoothly throughout the night. There was one older man in particular that I thought was especially helpful and I was very grateful to have him there.
However, I wasn't nearly as happy with the service I received leading up to my wedding day. The coordinator we were assigned was quite disorganized - she mixed up the color of our linens at least three times (thankfully she got it right the day of), she never ordered a swatch of the linens for my florist despite my reminding her several times (I ended up finding it myself and ordering it online), she didn't tell me until long after the invitations had gone out that she needed to know who would be eating what and not just the total numbers for each dish (which meant I had to call up all my guests after they had already sent in their response cards - both embarrassing and time consuming), and she didn't bring up the extra costs associated with a rain alternative until a week before the event.
Fortunately, everything worked out well for the actual event but I just felt like there was a lot of unnecessary stress leading up to the day. Because of that, I'm not sure if I would recommend this vendor to a friend.

I know that Windows has a terrific reputation, but our experience was very much just ok. Once contracts were signed and deposits made, our contact with Windows was non-existent until I emailed two weeks before the wedding to request a tasting (which we ultimately decided we didn't really have time for.) The food was very good, but although I'd been assured that there would be plenty of food, people were HUNGRY. Also, the servers were not accommodating, and in at least one case, were downright rude. When a very hungry guest took two mini crab cakes instead of 1, the waitress told him to "think of the other guests and only take one." I mean, REALLY?!?!? On the upside, the food was good and the quality of the linens and the look of the venue were terrific. On the down side, I felt ignored once the money was paid, and the service was medicore.

My fiance and I had intially loved Windows when we went for our food tasting. During the tasting everything looked so nice, the food was fantastic, and the coordinator was very professional. Through out the wedding process up to the wedding day our coordinator Kelscy did a great job. The only qualms I had was with the pricing and professionalism of finance dept of the company. They nickle and dimed everything..right down to the 3 flowers (made out of frosting) I had requested for my wedding cake. A few days after the wedding my parents realized there was a significant amount of money missing from their account. Windows took that money because they made a mistake in their calculations and realized they did not charge enough. That was so unprofessional of them to take money out of my parents account without notifying my parents first. If I could do it all over again, I would go with another catering service.

Whatever you do, do not go with Windows Catering.
We were initially impressed with what Windows had to offer. They are certainly not the cheapest caterer out there, and so we thought we were paying for quality food, service, and staff. This was not the case.
I will just highlight a few of our major disasters with Windows, but believe me there were many, many more.
My initial complaint was the lack of organization/professionalism with our appointed windows event planner. She was not on-site the day of our event, which likely contributed to many of the errors. But also throughout the process my husband and I were looking for a summary of decisions we had made so we could review that we were all on the same page in terms of tables, decor, food, etc. This was never provided. We received sporadic e-mails that you would have to piece together to get the full picture. Additionally when we asked to see some potential cake designs, we were told, oh just go google some and tell me what you want. So I found one I like and then was told well that will be $3 per person to have that design. Wouldn't a professional business have a portfolio of cake designs and educate you on the pricing? Additionally, when we did the walkthrough of our venue, they provided no advise on best practices and did not even have a check-list or agenda on what we needed to discuss with the vendors who were present.
The larger concerns were with how our event was run. From my comments above, I should have been more concerned that things would go wrong, but I was hopeful that due to their large amount of experience, they would know what they were doing.
First, they ordered the incorrect seat covers and napkins for our wedding and didn't order the table number stands at all. They also didn't confess to mis-ordering until I called them out on the wrong colors. Seems pretty dishonest to me.
They also completely forgot one of our cake flavors. We only had two, but had menus printed with the two flavors, and only one flavor was at the wedding. Their remedy was to offer to send us a cake on our first year anniversary. Why would we want to be reminded of their mistakes on our 1 year anniversary?
Additionally, one of the main items that sold us on Windows was that in our contract, we staffed and paid for 3 bartenders. To me, that means the staff member should be a trained bartender. Well think again. At no point were there ever 3 Windows staff members behind the bar. It was embarrassing to have our guests queued up in long lines to get drinks. At many point there was only 1 bartender behind the bar. My husband had to take time from his own wedding to seek out the captain to address the issue. A second staff member was added, however his only skill set was to open beers or pour wine; he didn't know how to make drinks. Why did we pay for 3 trained bartenders when we got 1? A question that Windows was never able to answer for me.
The professionalism of the staff was a major concern as well. In my mind, the proper way to serve a table it to bring all 8 meals out at once and then serve them at once. This did not happen at our event. They brought out the fish and would ask, who had the fish? Despite the fact that we had color-coded name-cards AND had provided the staff a table-by-table diagram of who ordered what. Ridiculous! At one point there was a random waiter wandering around with a kids meal, looking for the child it belonged to. My husband and I literally had to point him to the far table in the corner. Why was he carrying one meal and plating a table where none of the other kids meals at the table or adult meals were being served. During the Maid of Honor's toast, I called over our waiter to get her a glass of champagne. He waved me off and wouldn't come to the table. I was the bride! Are you kidding me????
We also were told by Windows staff that we would have a waiter assigned to the Bridal Couple to make sure all of our needs were addressed. Really my only need was that I wanted a glass of champagne at my own cocktail hour. No windows staff member ever approached us to offer the bride/groom a drink. We had to ask our friends to brave the ridiculously long line and get us a drink. Service? What service!
During our ceremony, they didn't set up all of the chairs. Clearly there were enough chairs ordered because everyone had a seat at dinner. However, many of our guests were left standing during the ceremony because there weren't enough seats put out and even when they saw guests standing, no windows staff member thought to bring more seats! So unprofessional!
My last comment will be the quality of the food- which really should be the one thing they don't mess up, right? Well, the appetizers were all supposed to be hot, and when we did sample one (it was hard to even find any being served.. again, what we thought we were paying for and actually received, very different), it was luke warm at best. For the food service at dinner, we had many guests complain that their food was cold and a few guests who got steaks that were completely rare and inedible.
We addressed all these issues with our coordinator and then a VP at Windows and received a very small sum of money to compensate for these issues (about 10% of our total bill). My husband and I both felt this sum of money wasn't nearly enough given the gravity of our errors and the fact that no one on the windows staff was able to explain why these egregious errors occurred!!!
Windows is wonderful cater. Clients love there food and the staff make a perfect wedding day for the client. I always look forward to be part of a wedding vendor team when I know I am working with Windows.
Windows is one of the very best caterers DC has to offer. We've done dozens of events with them over the years and the food and service are always outstanding! Highly recommend!
Windows has impressed Collingwood time after time, whether it's a wedding or corporate event, they understand that it's all about the client! Not to mention the food is delicious!
Delicious food, great service, and professional staff.
Danielle and her team at Windows Catering were great to work with. Her professionalism and quaility of work and customer service were amazing!
I've worked with Danielle C. at Windows several times and every time is a pleasure. That's why I keep sending my clients there! The company has a wonderful system in place and they really know their stuff. Being in business for 20+ will do that to a business. Not only do they have spectacular cuisine, they also have a great pastry chef! The cakes that come out of their kitchen are better than most wedding-cake-only bakers I've worked with.
Schedule a consultation, go check out their amazing office/tasting room space, and really consider how much of an impact the catering will make on your event. Windows and their fantastic staff make the catering decision rather easy.
Amazing!! and not just the food, the staff is out of this world, helpful and sincere aside from their superior talent!! We recently had the pleasure of visiting them at their new site and their kitchen is insane!! They didn't miss a beat! We've also had the opportunity to taste their creations at countless events over the years and let me tell you, nothing compares!! You must stop in and see them!!
We love Windows! Their weddings are absolutely wonderful. They are consummate professionals all day long, patient, fun to work with, creative, and the food and presentation are just gorgeous. Their service is first class and always professional down to the smallest detail. You will love working with them. Brides rave to us about their experience with Windows.
