Celebration Cakes

With less than a month to go before our wedding, my fiancé and I were struggling to find a baker who would dare to attempt the cake we wanted. A few months before the wedding we had travelled to London and saw the cake of my dreams displayed in Fortnum & Mason. Upon coming back to the US, we had emailed and visited many cake bakers to find one who could make the cake with less than a month's notice, and who would not charge us a ridiculous amount. It was a frustrating task. Most bakers we contacted either quoted us too high or said they could not do the job. We decided to go with Pamela as she quoted us less than half of what other bakers were quoting us and she claimed she could make it even bigger! (since we wanted a show-stopper). We were ecstatic! On the day of the wedding, when I saw the wedding cake, I was breathless. It truly was a "show stopper". It was taller than me on the cake table! It was truly a magnificent cake. Not only did it look amazing, but it tasted as great as it looked! Thank you Pam for giving us the BEST wedding cake we could ever dream of!

Celebration Cakes is owned by Pamela Hutzel. She makes the most amazing tasting cakes! We were impressed from our first meeting with her. When we arrived, we were escorted to the kitchen where a plate with 9 different cakes was awaiting each of us. She had created 9 of her most popular cakes, ranging from white almond with raspberry filling, to apple crumble, to pina colada...

Summer/fall is a very busy time for her, and we did have difficulty getting a hold of her several times. We were a little nervous given that we reached out with questions and didn't hear back for 3-4 weeks, but this was consistent with other reviews we had read.

The final product was absolutely incredible. It was 100% what we had imagined, and could not have tasted better. The cake was moist, and had a wonderful flavor. Our friends and familiy are still talking about our cake. We cannot wait for our 1 year anniversary to eat it again :)

I fell in love with Pamela's cakes at a bridal show at George Mason U and immediately, I thought, I'm not going to be able to afford these artistic cakes. Hands down, best prices in northern virginia. Complete shock. They tasted like happiness and I couldn't wait to do my own tasting. However, it was really hard to get in touch with her, but all the phone calls and emails were well worth it because I loved my cake. I hate fondant and she used REAL ICING. It was flawless and elegant. Even my husband got excited during the tasting w/ the decorating because it seemed like she could do any design we came up with. I would highly recommend our flavors, white almond and pina colada.

I highly recommend using Pamela Hutzell as your vendor for your wedding cake! She provided us the most flavors to sample at our tasting. We also got to look at many, many pictures of cakes she had done in the past which gave us inspiration to design our own with her. She listened to our ideas and helped us come up with something beautiful. She has done so many cakes that she was familiar with our venue which made the whole process a lot easier. The cake was delicious and many people complimented it. The cake was affordable, beautiful, and very tasty!

Pamela made the most amazing wedding cake. It was everything I wanted. When I first met with Pamela, I had another cake design that I originally wanted. About a month after I met with her, I wanted to change my design. I sent her a picture of what I wanted and spoke with her over the phone about it. She had no problem switching my order. About a month before the wedding, I wanted to meet with her in person to make sure everything was set and we both were on the same page. She knew exactly what I wanted and how I wanted it. I also gave her a sample of my bridesmaids dresses for the ribbon I wanted on the cake.

The morning of my wedding, she emailed me a picture of the cake. I woke up and checked my email (this is who I am) and saw this right away. I was so blown away and it was a great start to the most important day in my life. At the wedding, people told me how beautiful the cake was and how they didn't want it to be cut, because it was a work of art.

The cake itself was so good. It was moist and so tasty. We choose the Italian wedding cake with a vanilla custard and a lemon cake with rasphberry. Both were so good. We kept the top of the cake for our first anniversary and I can't wait to eat it.

The only problem I had with Pamela is that she is extremely busy and sometimes is hard to reach. After I met with her the first time, I wanted to get the contract and pay, so I made sure I had my spot. It was hard to get a hold of her and I was getting very worried. I would email and call and never get a response. I was even at the point of going with another person (which I did not want to do). But I finally got a hold of her and paid and was set to go. It may take several times to get a hold of her but it was definitely worth it. Her quality of work is wonderful. She works by herself but has a team to help with the cakes so with so many people, you will have to patient.

I highly reccommend her.

I discovered Pamela at a bridal show and tasted the Italian wedding cake. At that moment, I decided that I was going to have that as my cake.
I sampled a few other vendors, but found nothing other than either over-mosturized cake, and over-priced cake. Pamela actually worked off a design I'd seen at another cake place that wanted to charge me over $800.00 for a cake for under 100 people. Pamela did a similar design, with two flavors and more intricate pattern including delivery and rental of a stand for just over $500.00.

When the cake arrived, I was so thrilled! It looked just as I had imagined and tasted just as delicious! Love Pamela and Celebration cakes!

We were very happy with Pamela. We were able to schedule a cake tasting, and loved everything we tried. We selected a cake we loved, and were very happy with how it looked in the end. I had a little trouble scheduling the cake tasting initially, but once we got all the contact info down accurately, Pamela was flexible with our numbers and desires.

Pamela is such a nice lady and runs her business in a very professional manner. To start off, our tasting was FABULOUS, as we were able to sample 10 different cake flavors of which the presentation was excellent. My husband and I couldn't agree on the style cake we wanted, so Pamela sketched a design based off of both of our visions and it turned out AMAZING! Pamela made the tastiest, most beautiful, fun, elegant, 4 tier, square, topsy turvy cake I have ever seen! Our cake was a big hit because of the creative design and the great taste!! Although ALL of the flavors were delicious, we chose the white almond with raspberry filling and pina colada with pineapple filling. Yum! I would definitely recommend using Celebration Cakes for your wedding cake!!

Cons: She only makes wedding cakes, so I wont be able to call her every year to make our birthday and anniversary cakes :(

Pamela Hutzell is truly an excellent, professional and nice lady. Her cakes are absolutely beautiful as well as delicious. I was amazed that she actually bakes the cakes herself. She offers you such a wide selection of flavors and styles, that it made designing our cake design a pleasant and enjoyable experience. We really appreciated how accommodating she was. She was always punctual especially during cake delivery.

Pamela made the most beautiful, great tasting cake. We received so many compliments on the cake and she was very flexible and willing to change the size of the cake at the last minute when our guest numbers change.

Pamela is extremely talented. My cake was even better (tastier and prettier) than I had imagined! I LOVED it. She did such an amazing job. I showed her a picture of what I wanted my cake to look like and she was able to replicate it at a fraction of the cost of other bakers. We received many compliments on our gorgeous cake!

We hired Pamela of Celebration Cakes for our wedding cake after tasting numerous ones at Bridal shows. Hers were the only ones that were moist and they were delicious. She designed an absolutely goregous cake that was absolutely delicious. My husband even said our real cake was better than the samples he tasted! The other reviews are right in that Pamela is sometimes hard to get in touch with, but trust me, her cakes are absolutely worth it. Beautiful and delicious!

Pamela's cake was fantastic and beautiful - it looked exactly like the design we discussed. She was very professional to work with but seems like she may not check her Email too often, which I think was the only drawback of working with her. Give her a call though, and she'll get back to you. I think the cake is well worth the money - it actually tastes like a really great gourmet dessert instead of a lot of the more bland cakes I tasted before making my choice.

Pamela's cakes are amazing. I received so many compliments on the cake; absolutely fantastic, probably the best wedding cake ever had. We wanted a unique topper made out of strawberries dressed as a bride and groom and she was more than accommodating to try what we wanted and it turned out beautifully. When we first met for the tasting, she was more than flexible with our work schedules for us to meet. Communication is best via phone. Her product is definitely worth the price.

Pamela Hutzell did exactly what I had envisioned and the cake was the best I have had in the Northern Virginia area. Light, fluffy, sweet and delicious for a bargain price! The only complaints I had were her response time to my emails and phone calls.

Our cake turned out beautifully and Pamela did an excellent job. Everyone loved the flavor we chose, and the colors on the outside matched beautifully!

Pamela at Celebration Cakes did an amazing job on our wedding cake. It turned out even better than I could have imagined. We chose the red velvet with cream cheese and butter cream and the french vanilla with strawberry and butter cream and both were delicious! Everyone was complimenting us on the beauty of the cake as well as how great it tasted! I highly recommend Celebration Cakes for any kind of cake!

Pamela Hutzell at Celebration cakes did a great job. We were able to attend a cake tasting in the DC area which was great and her pricing is really reasonable for the quality of the product that you get.

We gave Pamela a picture of a cake we liked and she was able to replicate it while making a few tweaks that she wanted.

This is a low maintenance vendor who delivers a great product! Definitely recommend.

The cake was BEAUTIFUL, everyone kept saying it was the prettiest cake they'd seen, and it was also the best red velvet cake I've ever eaten (which says a lot, I LOVE red velvet cake). all the cakes I tried at the tastings were just as good. I didn't taste any cakes at any other place that came remotely close.

Pamela was awful about responding to emails and whenever I called her she seemed like she didn't know who I was; I finally asked my mom to call and she didn't have any problems, so I let her do all the cake stuff from that point on :)

I give Celebrations an A. They'd get an A+ except for the responsiveness thing.

Pamela makes THE most delicious and beautiful wedding cakes! For our Virginia themed wedding she worked with us to create (her first!) Dogwood Flower Cake. She was able to get these perfectly detailed handmade/painted sugar dogwood flowers to dress the cake with. It was simply beautiful.

The added bonus was the cake tasted so good! I originally tasted her cake at the Dulles Expo in Spring '08, I believe, and it was the only one that wasn't too sweet, wasn't too dry, wasn't too bland, or didn't taste like it came from a Betty Crocker Box! It was delivered fresh, on time, and in perfect shape despite the long drive AND steep/bumpy driveway to the venue!

The cake was gorgeous...I mean absolutely beautiful. It tasted pretty great too. My only complaint was I felt that one of the two flavors of cake we had tasted like duncan hines. We had two tiers that were Italian cream cake which were amazing and the other two which were chocolate cake with chocolate ganache. I thought the chocolate cake was a little generic.

Pamela was the single best vendor at our wedding. She created the most beautiful and delicious cake. I just love looking at pictures of this master piece. Pamela also did our flowers for the rehearsal dinner, reception and church and I was in absolute AWE when I saw how she transformed all those locations into a true wonderland. I cannot express in words how thankful I am to her for doing such an amazing job.

My only concern in the beginnging was that it took a while to receive her proposal and to get her to respond to my emails. When the time came though, she had everything under control and implemented every single detail we discussed.

Her prices are totally reasonable and she will make sure that she stays within the discussed budget. I have recommended her to every single bride and will continue to do so.

my cake was amazing! not only was it beautiful but it tasted fantastic. After my wedding people still where talking about how great my cake tasted.

We first tasted Pamela's cakes at a wedding expo. There were several vendors and her cakes were, by far, the best. Celebration Cakes were moist and had true flavor. We met with Pamela to plan the wedding cake and the grooms cake. It was a fun experience. She had albums we could look through to see the many cakes she had prepared in the past. They were all beautiful and very individual. In the end, the cake was decorated to resemble my wedding gown. Pamela paid attention to every detail. Our wedding guests all made comments about how delicious the cake was and that it was one of the most beautiful cakes they had ever seen. The grooms cake was made to resemble the grooms dog. Pamela had even framed the picture of the dog, so that it could be on the table with the cake
! The bouquets were beautiful and complimented the dresses. Everything was delivered on time. Would definitely recommend Pamela and Celebration Cakes and Flowers.

In one word - delicious. When we were meeting with cake bakers - our first concern was taste - our second concern was appearance. We didn't want to pay thousands of dollars for another standard, tasteless cake. Celebration Cakes did a fantastic job. Pamela met with us to design the cake, and helped us to choose the perfect flavors. She gave us the opportunity to try all different kinds of cake. She was great to work with, laid-back and not pushy at all. It was delivered on time as expected and was beautiful - just as I'd pictured it. Our guests actually went back for a second piece of cake - that was how good it was. I'd order another cake in a heartbeat!

Pamela Hutzell, owner of Celebration Cakes, made the most beautiful and delicious wedding cake for my wedding. We met her at one of the area bridal shows and were impressed by the taste of the cake samples and her portfolio of previous work. When we met with her one-on-one, she worked with us to create a design that would reflect the style and personality of our wedding. Unlike some others we met with, Pamela was willing to work with us to create our own cake and not just pick something that another bride had already used. She made us feel like she really wanted to bake and design our cake. Also, her prices were more reasonable than most of the other cake vendors that we looked into. I would strongly recommend Celebration Cakes for your wedding cake. (Oh, our delicious cake was chocolate with chocolate mousse filling, and white buttercream frosting, in case you want to try the same delicious combination we used!)

They had multiple tastings but due to other commitments we couldn't make it to any of the tastings but desperately wanted to taste their cakes. They actually mailed each of us 7 different pieces of cake. (1 to me in VA and 1 to my then fiance in MA.) Even after being refrigerated and boxed and mailed and re-refrigerated it was still the BEST cake we tried.

I met with Pamela and was able to look thru 2 or 3 albums of gorgeous cakes. My FI and I had talked about getting a very basic cake but we didnt want it to be boring. She helped us to design a truly unique, delicious, and beautiful cake. We settled on a square 3 layer cake - 2 layers with swiss dots and one layer with a swirl pattern to match my dress. We got Orange Grand Marnier cake with buttercream filling and Almond cake with raspberry filling. The cake was AMAZING!!! It just melted in your mouth and the flavor was to die for. We actually had guests fighting over who got to take the leftovers home with them.

We were so thrilled with Celebration Cakes. They went above and beyond to help us and gave us an amazing cake that people have been raving about ever since the wedding!!!

Not only is Pamela Hutzel a fabulous cake maker but she is one the best floral designers in the business. I have worked with Pamela for almost every wedding I've had the past three years in business and my clients and I have always been beyond pleased with her work. Outstanding cake and floral designer, outstanding vendor to work with! You will not be disappointed.

What can I say??? Their cakes are by far the tastiest and beautiful cakes I have had the pleasure of filming. All of the brides that I have met who chose Celebration Flowers and Cakes could not stop raving about them!!!
