Central Continental Bakery

This was the bakery that was included in my wedding reception site's package. I cannot tell you how many little cake testers we tried to FINALLY get our cake ordered! They give you a LOT of testers for FREE and even when you exhaust those....there testers are CHEAP. I was very worried about the cake being dry and the piece Bob and I fed to one another (the only cake we got all night....) was VERY moist! We went with the WHITE cake. We did different fillings in each layer. It was YUMMY!

We originally were getting my cake elsewhere, but that baker backed out just over 2 weeks before my wedding. Central Continental is the Bakery that my reception hall works with so we decided to go with them. So, props to them for making our cake on such short notice! I had a lot of specifications that were not included in the package that we paid for extra, but we were not disappointed. The cake was delicious! We got so many great reviews from everyone. The buttercream frosting was to die for! Definitely recommend!

Central Continental Bakery is the bakery that my vendor went through. I was a little thrown because when we did our tasting we ordered to-go cups for $2.50 of 6 different flavors of cakes / fillings, so it wasnt exactly the experience i was expecting - but every single type of cake / filling was out of this world!!! Everything at that bakery is just amazing. Everyone there is really nice too! The design on my cake was intricate, and didnt turn out like the picture, but it was very pretty and tasted AWESOME! I did 2 tiers of vanilla cream and 1 tier of raspberry cream - just delicious!!

We got rave reviews on our wedding cake. We went with the white cake/lemon filling option and it was so good! I highly recommend this bakery!!

We used Central Continental Bakery for our wedding cake. It was sooooooo good! Our cake originally came with a fondant "frosting". We are not big fans of fondant and preferred that it be frosted with buttercream. They were very accomodating. The cake came out exactly as it looked in the picture with fondant and tasted amazing. They have a beautiful selection and delectable flavors. No Value rating or Cost listed because we're not sure how much it costed; we ordered the cake through our venue (our venue ordered on our behalf).

My Cake was beautiful and everyone loved the way it tasted too! Central Continental was able to take three separate pictures of cakes I liked and make one perfect cake for our wedding day, thank you so much!!!!

What can we say expect "you're the best". Our cake was absolutely delicious and everything we expected and probably more. Their buttercream is the best. We ordered the "Danielle" in a white cake with buttercream icing and chocolate buttercream filling. We enjoyed our cake so much that we took half of it with us on our honeymoon - why wait for our 1st Anniversary. Continental is the best and always has been.

I had a large five layer red velvet cake that matched what I wanted EXACTLY. Not only did it taste amazing, but they were professional as well. Love it!

One of the reasons that I chose my banquet hall was that they contracted thru Central Continental for the cake. We had a square, three tier cake of the "Champagne" design. I liked the uniqueness of the cake. We did chocolate cake with raspberry filling. It was excellent. We have frozen the top, but intent to go back and get a fresh cake if it's not good in a year. (Note that I have them 5 stars in all categories as to not bias the rating, but I did not deal with the bakery directly, so i am only really rating the taste, appearance, and design of the cake.

This bakery was included with our reception venue (Makray Memorial Golf Club) & we ordered several sample cakes & were disappointed with how quickly they dried out. Skeptical, we upgraded the cake in hopes of having a more moist result (strawberry filling instead of bavarian cream). The actual wedding cake was STUNNING to look at & absolutely DELICIOUS to eat. Not dry at all, very light & wonderful to eat. We chose white & chocolate with strawberry filling & everyone really enjoyed it. I can't compliment them enough on the beauty of the cake - it was breathtaking.

Our cake turned out amazing! The place we got married worked one on one to make our special cake! It had resembled a bubbly champagne cake! The flavors were awesome and it wasn't to sweet it was perfect! We have been going here for years and when I found out we got to use them I was at a relief! You know you will Always get good quality!

The preparation of my wedding day went smooth sailing until I had to deal with my Wedding Cake. Of all the headaches that I prepared myself for this one threw me. I was forced to get my cake at Central Continental as it was part of the venue and I had to go thru MaryAnne. If you are looking for a basic wedding cake off their menu, you should have no problem. However, anything out of the ordinary they really are not flexible. I had to turn them over to my husband. It was a sour cream cake with raspberry and cream cheese filling with non dairy topping. Sound complicating????
The end result, I did get what I wanted at double the price. My guests said it was delicious and the best wedding cake they ever tasted. I let my florist do the decorating and it was gorgeous. For the best day of your life if you want smooth sailing......go elsewhere for your wedding cake.....

My husband and I had our wedding at the Fountain Blue in Des Plaines and they work with Central Continental Bakery for the wedding cakes. Our cake was amazing, and tasted delicious! They did an amazing job! Thank you for everything!

The cake was absolutely delicious! I wish we would have had time to eat more of it during our reception! It came out just beautifully; we received many compliments on the design we chose. We also called to add challah bread to our order and they were really great in helping to ensure we would have enough for everyone. Thanks for everything!

We used this vendor for our wedding cake because it was part of our reception package. Even though we could not pick who made our cake, I would highly recommend them now to any bride. The cake was beautiful. We picked one in their catalogue and made some changes to the design to make it our own. They made the changes no problem and it was perfect. The cake itself was delicious! We got yellow cake with a raspberry cream filling, we loved it and so did our guests.

We only worked with them through our banquet hall (Concorde Banquets) but we were very impressed at how the cake looked AND tasted! Excellent!

Our venue outsourced the wedding cake to Central Continental Bakery. Because our venue did not provide taste testing for the cake we called up the bakery and they gladly made samples, of our choice, for us to come in and test. We worked with Mary at the bakery and she was VERY flexible with us. We had an idea of what we wanted and she made it happen. Our cake was absolutely delicous. (Chocolate cake - fudge - white cake - covered in non-dairy whipped cream!)

Great cake!! We sampled many different kinds and had a different combination for each layer. We received many compliments on how great and beautiful the cake was!

I got my cake through my reception area. We went to the store and chose the cake from a picture book. I felt that the cake that was at my wedding was a little messy...the scrolling and icing was not even and slightly different from the book.

However, in the taste department, our cake was awesome. We had white cake with mocha filling and chocolate cake with raspberry bavarian cream filling...got lots of compliments on the cake. If you pick a simple design, then the cake should turn out great.

Used this bakery for my wedding at White Pines. Very nice looking cake. When you go for a tasting, you may find yourself limited by the flavors and designs (several elements come at an extra cost). For a classic, relatively simple cake (marble/chocolate and raspberry filling) they did just fine.

Our wedding cake turned out absolutely beautiful and was exactly what we wanted! Our guests raved about the quality of the cake, it was amazing!

We got our cake complimentary through our vendor, however it was very important to us so we decided if they weren't able to do the flavors we liked (we were willing to pay extra) and have it look the way we wanted, we would get a groom's cake somewhere else. We asked for 6 different types of cakes to try and we enjoyed 4 of the 6. The one we chose (almond cake with mocha filling), was amazing! We were so excited, we bragged about how good our cake was going to be. Then when the wedding came and our cake was brought out, it tasted like white cake with plain buttercream filling. My sister said a few of her bites she could taste the mocha...and several people came up to our head table asking where the great cake we had talked about was. We argued with the banquet servers to make sure they didn't serve us one of the cakes from the other weddings going on in our venue, but it was the right cake. Very disappointing. Also we tried to contact the bakery ourselves 4 times (two calls and two emails) before ordering the cake, but they were very rude and unprofessional telling us to call back and they couldn't help us. We eventually had to have our venue manager call for us.

Our cake was beautiful and delicious. The price was very reasonable compared to many of the city vendors we looked at, and we were so happy with the results. We also ordered cookies (it's an Italian tradition) and they were also great. They were on time with the delivery, even on a Sunday over a holiday weekend and downtown. Finally, they added extra flowers to the cake than what we ordered. The only slight downside was that during the actual meetings with the cake bakers, it was tough and took a long time to get them to understand exactly what we wanted. However, we provided some pictures, and they produced an amazing result. I was floored when I saw our cake for the first time, and I would highly recommend the bakery.

They were easy to work with especially since we had a somewhat unusual request for our wedding cake. They did exactly what I wanted and it looked great! My husband LOVED our cake (and he's still eating it because we had a lot left over).

There are no words to describe how absolutely perfect my cake was! We went to Central Continental Bakery and had samples of different combinations of cake and filling and went with a white cake with chocolate buttercream filling.

I found a picture online of a cake I really liked and they literallu copied it to the absolute last detail. It was far BEYOND what I ever expected they could do! With all those fancy cake shows on TV now you can easily have one of those cakes for a fraction of the cost! My cake was by far one of the best things about my wedding. It was so unique and different, no one expected a black and white cake! It was INCREDIBLE!!!! Thank you CCB!!!

My ceremony and reception site had an arrangement with Central Continental Bakery. The cake is included in all of the banquet fees, and all they (White Pines) ask is that you bring any pictures or ribbon for your design. I submitted probably the most confusing wedding cake sketch and set of directions ever, and they recreated my vision perfectly. The cake was stunning, and delicious (chocolate cake w/ raspberry bavarian cream filling), too!

Did a very simple wedding cake design. The cake was delicious. We did chocolate cake with a strawberry jam filling. Best wedding cake I have ever had.

My now-husband has several food allergies; chocolate and strawberries are only two of them. We wanted a lemon cake with a blackberry filling, which seemed great (light and refreshing)--they said they could only do raspberry filling. I asked (having worked in the restaurant business for 20 years) since they could do raspberry, couldn't they do blackberry just as easily? They said, "no". Wow--VERY inflexible!!! Just buy the other berry--they're bigger and juicier than raspberries, too!!!! Whatever--LAME!!! The cake was added in with the reception venue planning which saved us money (still very important) but the cake was so-so at best.

I recommend Central Continental Bakery! Their are just as delicious as they are beautiful. Some of the guests at the wedding said it was the best cake they ever had and my pregnant sister ate all the left over pieces - it was that good! We had white cake with mocha and raspberry bavarian cream.

Everything was good- nothing outstanding, but exactly what we signed up for.

My husband and I live in Dallas but got married in Chicago Oct 24th. It was hard to plan a wedding out of state. We chose to get our cake here and it was absolutely awesome. It tasted great and looked beautiful. I also had them do a surprise grooms cake. I wanted my husbands race car. I sent them pictures with every detail I wanted on it. I didnt get to see any of their samples but couldnt have been happier with the outcome. My husband loved it and it looked just like his car!! I would highly recommend Central Continental for your wedding or any occasion.

Cake tasted fine. One color was off, but it wasn't a big deal. They did a great job allowing us to customize everything to our liking. It really turned out fantastic!

They were wonderful!! We picked a style out of the book and then brought in some pictures from magazines to sort of personalize our cake to us. She was extremely helpful and for a small charge was able to incorporate my ideas. The cake samples were also easy to get. A little far from where we live but if we were in the area we'd definitely go back!

What an wonderful job Connie!!! I brought in pictures of a design we wanted and she took it and made it come to life. Our cake was the most amazing part of the decor. I still have people tellling me five months later how decadent and sinful our wedding cake was. HIGHLY recommend them for your wedding cake...it will not only look great, but it will taste AMAZING.

Our wedding cake was amazing! They were able to design the cake exactly to the scroll design and icing color we were looking for. And the taste was wonderful too (lemon/bavarian cream). We were very pleased and would highly recommend them.

My cake was absolutely gorgeous. I found a small picture in a bridal magazine of what I wanted my cake to look like and Central mimicked it 100%. Not to mention it was delicious. For our 1 year anniversary my brother had a mini cake make for us that was exactly the same as our wedding cake. Absolutely wonderful!!

The cake was outstanding. We liked a cake with fondant, but wanted buttercream and they said no problem. They were very easy to work with and the product was great!!!!!!! Would recommend for any bakery need.

Definitely a good bakery. Had no problems and the cake looked fantastic! Didn't really have a choice of baker though (went through the approved baker at our reception site) but like aforementioned, the cake arrived on time, looked beautiful and tasted exceptional.

cake was delicious and beautiful. Very fresh tasting and not a typical bland wedding cake. I recommend the real lemon filling and the chocolate.

Our cake was perfect. The only thing that didn't happen is that we had requested a green pattern on the cake and they left it all as white, but it ended up looking better and more elegant! I also had wanted to surprise my husband by incorporating something to commemorate the New York Giants winning the Super Bowl. The bakery was incredibly accommodating and made the perfect tribute on the side of the top tier so that our head table could see it but the majority of the pictures would not have it. Our reception site works directly with the bakery which made everything incredibly easy.

Great Service, patient and helpful! We would definitely recommend. Very professional. We got to taste a lot of different cakes for little money. I love white cake but they say that only yellow will work- but it tasted great anyway! Our florit put flowers on it and it looked beautiful!

We used Central Continental Bakery for one of our cakes for our wedding reception. Our caterer includes them in our package for a sheet cake. Central continental lets you pick flavors in cups and you choose the tastes that you like best. We picked out yellow cake with custard and chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and strawberries. The cakes were yummy! We picked the tastes, gave them to our caterer, and they did the rest.

I don't know the cost really bc it was included in our cost with the caterer.

Central Continental Bakery made the cake exactly the way we wanted it. We had to go to the bakery to pick up our own samples and bring them home to sample, which was inconvenient, and the samples were a little dry. But, we changed all of the frosting colors and supplied our own ribbon and silk flowers to put on the cake and it was perfect!

The cake was part of our package. It turned out beautiful. And especially yummy!

Our wedding cake was purchased from Central Continental Bakery. They matched the perfect color of my gown on the piping of the cake- I was very impressed by this attention to detail- it made for a nice touch! When we went to select our cake, the bakery had an amazing array of choices- both elaborate and simple. From what I remember, it tasted great, but I wish I would have had more time to enjoy it!

We happened to get our wedding cake here because our reception hall had a contract with them. They wouldn't have been our first choice, but truly, the best wedding cake I have ever eaten! Not too sweet. We had a 5-tiered layer cake that we chose from a photo, and it looked perfect. They even got our wedding colors just perfect. Every time I see a box from them, I think, "ooh, is it cake?" I can't wait to eat our top layer at our 1 year anniversary. Oh, and the great thing is that because they have a log of our wedding cake, they said they can make a fresh one for following years! Delicious!

I really liked my cake -- the way it looked, the way it tasted, but I had something very specific in mind that they wouldn't cater to because we were working through the reception hall as part of a package. I guess it is something that no one will notice when they attend the wedding, but I found it disappointing.

OH MY GOD.You guys made the whole nite with that masterpiece . That 5 story whopper couldn't of caputured Tina and myself anymore then it did .We loved it 100000000x's We can't thank you for taking the time to knock out those details and all the little things we asked for .You guys rock!!!!

They were pretty helpful. I didn't like the fact that I had to have butter cream and not whipped cream. The filling was fruit mixed with butter cream frosting. I didn't like it. I thought that it was too sugary. I would recomend them I just wish that I had Whipped cream. I didn't pay anything for the cake it was included in my reception site

We used Continental for our wedding cake and it was delicious! I also had a special request... My husband is a Boston College alumus and huge fan so I requested a groom's cake made to look like the Boston College logo. They were 100% on... it looked perfect and tasted even better!

The website definitely need updating. I was not able to pick anything I like from the website, so you'll have to go to the store. They're very flexible in making changes in the cake to make your "dream wedding cake" happened. The cake itself is unbelievably tasty. Best wedding cake I've eaten! I just wished I got to finish my piece at my wedding. It's a shame. I would go back for my anniversary cake and their other tasty treats!
