My sister had her wedding reception at Chandler's this past weekend. Everyone was very accommodating and helpful! We had rehearsal dinner in the wine room the night before. Brittany choose a BBQ themed casual dinner for about 20 of us. The food was excellent and the bartender (Jake?) was great!
The next day after the ceremony at Look Park, (I was also the Reverend for my sister) we headed back to Chandler's where the guests were enjoying cocktail hour. The whole courtyard was in full bloom and everyone was happy the weather cooperated!
We had a sit down dinner and danced the night away. Amanda Malone is the manger of all the events at Chandler's and is awesome! She made sure Brittany had everything she needed and she was always happy to go the extra mile with a bright smile on her face. When it came time to pay the bill, we had previously discussed with Amanda that our parents were divorced but her new husband's family would be helping with the wedding costs as well. So was patient and understanding and professional when we divided the bill up in separate ways.
I would highly recommend Amanda and the entire staff at Chandler's for any event you are planning!! See you for dinner soon!!

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner at Chandlers restaurant. The food and service was wonderful. The atmosphere was so cozy and romantic.
We LOVE Chandler's!!! Joe and I actually got married at Magic Wings butterfly conservatory, just down the road... Anyway, when we were trying to decide if we should have the reception at Magic Wings or elsewhere we happened into Chandler's on a whim, and were in love instantly. They were setting up for a wedding that night we stopped by, and it was as if fate was telling us this was the place. And it was. We had a fabulous, wonderful evening. We couldn't have imagined it better. It was just perfect, the food was awesome, we didn't have to decorate because the place is already beautiful; they customized our linen choices for us (we picked plum tablecloths with lilac/light purple napkins). It was beautiful. We're so happy! People said it was the best wedding they'd been to in years and years. = )
I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out if I should write a review of my wedding. It’s hard to not feel very passionately about my experience since a wedding is supposed to be one of the most important and memorable days of your life.
Over all, Chandler’s has a great look and feel. They are very flexible with the menu and décor and seem to really strive to meet whatever vision you have. My wedding was very beautiful and had a romantic and intimate feel to it. I chose Chandler’s because I wanted a rustic fall type wedding and from the moment I set foot on the grounds, it felt magical.
The food, at least what we had, was very delicious. The CON is that they ran out of the roasted potatoes and served mashed potatoes. Granted, this is not a show stopping issue but you should know how much food to prepare when you are hosting weddings. If I wanted mashed potatoes, I would have ordered mashed potatoes. The bridal party also did not get all of the hors d’oeuvres as only one plate was brought outside. I was under the impression we would have our own plates with all of the appetizers brought out to enjoy while taking pictures.
One of my tables almost didn’t get to eat. By the time they were told to go up to the buffet, it was being broken down. My biggest issue with this is that I was concerned about the possibility of having a long line if I chose to have stations- but was told not to worry.
The seating was not what we had discussed. We (bride and groom) were in the most awkward spot, my bridesmaids were on the other side of the floor not near any of the other guests and I could not see my grandparents. I had set my seating up a specific way, based on Amanda’s suggestion and knowing of the quirky floor plan, so that all sets of grandparents could see us. I was told that the dining room could seat 125, which was my original list. The final headcount was 100 and that was very cramped. Luckily we were not seated very long.
The day of the wedding I was told to meet Amanda out front of the main entrance of Yankee Candle at 5:15 but she was not there to greet me. I ended up walking through Yankee Candle myself trying to find my way to the museum. I was trying to avoid being seen by anymore of my wedding guests as some had already seen me while I waited outside.
My last and final review is by far the biggest thorn in my side of the whole process. It is the reason I almost changed locations and the ultimate reason I am actually writing this review. The communication is VERY spotty. Perhaps I worried more than most brides or asked too many questions- I’m not too sure but either way I should not have to feel as though I have to chase down my event coordinator. I should not be told that I need to call the main line if I have questions, as the management suggested I do. You are responsible for planning my wedding, I am paying you and it is your job to set my mind at ease and help me- plain and simple.
Anytime I called Amanda’s line it would go to voicemail- I didn't want to be playing phone tag and I feel as though I can explain things easier in an email, plus, I work at a desk (sometimes crazy hours) so it’s an overall easier form of communication for me. I had to follow up on almost all of my emails. I wasn’t asking difficult questions and perhaps they didn’t need to be answered right away, but some sort of acknowledgement is not so much to ask for. In a few of my emails I had asked if it was easier to provide me with a timeline of when I should expect to discuss things, so I wouldn't have to feel as though I was being annoying.
I feel bad leaving this review because it seems like a personal attack against Amanda and I don’t want it to come across that way. I have no doubt that Amanda can throw a great event, Chandler’s always has something going on and the decorations were exactly what I wanted. Perhaps she does not have enough assistance or the proper support. She is very sweet and easy to get along with and she seems to really have a passion for what she does but perhaps my wedding was too large to manage along with all of the other events that go on. I think she should have at least one assistant to help manage all of the events and/or communication in between.
I sent all of this in an email to Amanda in January along with a second email a week later. I know that Chandler’s is really trying to expand and host more weddings, so the intention of my email was to provide constructive criticism for future weddings as well as voice my own concerns since it was no secret we had a rocky past with communication. But…I never received a response. Since my wedding is over and paid for, I guess it doesn’t matter what I have to say but again, I would have appreciated some sort of follow up. I am very well aware that no matter where you get married, you’re not the only bride or the only client but you shouldn’t have to feel as though you aren’t important.
While I checked off that I would recommend to a friend, it would have to be someone with a small and manageable wedding.
WHAT I LOVED: The location, the picturesque New England backdrop, the ambience, the intimate setting, the wine list, and Amanda Malone: top-notch wedding coordinator. Amanda didn't miss a single detail and she went above and beyond for our small wedding. She gave this bride the best wedding gift: Peace of mind. (If I was just reviewing Amanda with the stars above I would give her a 5.0 rating in every category.)
WHAT I DIDN'T LOVE: There were two definite food problems followed by a lack of accountability by management.
One: the crostini bread that was served with our cheese plate was so hard and stale that no one ate it. You could have literally broken a tooth on it. I'm not sure how it passed the kitchen's inspection.
Two: Of the three main dishes we offered to our guests, the kitchen got one completely wrong. We ordered roasted duck as a poultry option and we were definitely served roasted chicken. Plus one of the side dishes for this meal was wrong. Further insult to injury: it was the driest chicken you can imagine. We were mortified as we watched our guests politely struggle to eat it. They of course didn't complain to the wait staff, and at the time we didn’t either. However, within a few days of our wedding reception, my husband contacted Amanda to share our disappointment. She took detailed notes. She said she'd pass the message along to the appropriate management staff and that they might follow-up with us. Unfortunately, no one ever did.
Had someone from Chandler’s called to apologize I would not feel the need to publicly share our disappointment.
Having said all of this, if we had to do it all over again, we would still have our wedding reception at Chandler's. Overall, we have fond memories of that day. We simply wish Chandler’s management and chefs could have been as professional as their wedding coordinator.
My husband and I had our wedding reception at Chandlers September 3rd, 2011. The service was incredible! Amanda Malone (the event coordinator) was so incredibly helpful and always just a phone call away. Everyone at the venue was so flexible and accommodating. The food was amazing and the venue provided just the romantic feel we were hoping for. Everything was just perfect!
Chandler's did an excellent job with our recent bridal shower! The wine cellar room was perfect for the event and the staff was friendly, professional, and very accomodating. The planning process was made simple with Amanda's help and the food display was great. We will definitely be using Chandler's again in the future! Thank you!
Although we had a few communications problems in the beginning, with my daughter living in Ohio, we can't say enough good things about our experience with Chandler's. They catered the reception at our home, and the meal was excellent. Our guests particularly liked the Pasta station. Amanda, Chef Greg and the entire staff was very professional, and accommodating. The helped make my daughter's day a very memorable one.
It was a wonderful experience and our wedding was perfect! Amanda and her staff were amazing. Everything was just as we wanted and the food and the service were excellent. The entire staff was friendly, professional, and very helpful. The room and the decor were beautiful. We would highly recommend Chandler's to anybody looking for the perfect wedding venue!
I actually didn't have my reception here- I had my bridal shower in the 'Wine Cellar Lounge'. Not only was the room beautiful, but it was the perfect backdrop for my wine tasting themed party. My girls said it was very easy to set up, pick out appetizers and wine, and for a great price. All my guests had so much fun, and everyone complemented the atmosphere and the food!
The best place for a nice romantic dinner
