My hubby and I were married here on 9/4/11, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day! Lori was extremely helpful throughout the year of planning; from flexibility (as my groom was deployed until a couple months before the wedding), to responsiveness (I always got a response back right away, even to my silly questions in quick emails!), to making the day go off without a hitch. She worked hand-in-hand with my planner, Megan and Rebecca, and we used a lot of the vendors she recommended without any hesitations! Even when we decided last minute to extended the party by an hour, there were no glitches!
The resort was absolutely beautiful- The gazebo wasn't there when we booked, and since we have moved out of state, I was extremely happy to see it when we arrived in town for the special day!
All of our guests had wonderful things to say about the food, the location, the reception... I am one lucky bride to have had such a perfect day! Thank you to everyone at the resort who made everything so special for us!!

From beginning to end, the process of having a wedding was made sooooo much easier by the staff at Chesapeake Beach! Our wedding coordinator, Lori, was so experienced, friendly, professional, and flexible. When I would have those random little questions here and there throughout the year leading up to my wedding, she always emailed me back right away. She was also able to offer tons of great tips and advice and made the whole process smooth. She was a pleasure to work with and made everything stress free!

I had my rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception at the resort. I have heard nothing but rave reviews about the food, the service, the scenery, and the reception room itself. Everyone had a great time and kept saying things "How did you find this great place?" and "I am telling my friend to have her wedding here!" I can honestly say that I am one of those lucky brides whose wedding went off without a hitch, and I think this is largely due to the hard work and professionalism of the staff at Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa.

I also stayed at the resort in one of the deluxe suites. It was stunning!!! They went above and beyond to make the stay incredible and gave us all the little extras that made our stay special/ easy: chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne, make-up removing towelettes in the bathroom, etc. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! One even wrote down the directions to the cake shop so I could return my rental items :)

Lastly, I also used the spa services (along with the bridal party). They did a beautiful job! You could tell that they took pride in their work and they tried really hard to give me exactly what I wanted for a look (and succeeded).

I could not be happier with the venue I chose!!!:)

We were very pleased with the Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa. Our guests really enjoyed the venue and everyone thought that the food was great.

Our wedding coordinator, Lori, was really helpful. She did a rehearsal for us the day before the wedding. It was raining the day of the wedding and the ceremony had to be moved under cover near the fountain. Lori did a great job getting the chairs moved and keeping everything on schedule. She was keeping hotel guests that were not attending the wedding out of the way of the wedding ceremony and the pictures, which was really helpful. She kept my programs dry, which I really appreciated. She worked with our DJ to coordinate the order of events during the evening (and to get him setup out of the rain).

I would also like to say that the other ladies in the wedding/catering office at CBR&S were also really helpful.

It was great that the ballroom was available all day for me to get the decorations setup (flowers, favors, etc.).

Since CBR&S provides the food, the venue, the tables, etc., it really made my life easy. I also want to note that most of my vendors work with the CBR&S on a regular basis. I feel that this made my life easier, since the vendors were already acquainted with Lori and the venue.

My only complaint would be related to the Smokey Joes restaurant (where we took the after party). This is completely unrelated to the wedding services of Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa, but Smokey Joes is owned by CBR&S. The service at Smokey Joes was really sub-par. I had friends who were insulted (myself included), food was not being delivered, the wrong food was being delivered. I would not recommend Smokey Joes for the after party.

Fabulous wedding weekend here in June 2011. Our guests enjoyed the laid-back, bayside ambience. They found the accommodations to be very comfortable and reasonably priced.

The staff was also very helpful and helped direct us to local vendors. They all worked together to help our day go off without a hitch.

The value was good for the price as well. The food was fantastic and there were many things included in the package - open bar, buffet, cocktail hour, champagne toasts, etc.

Very fun and stress-free weekend!

I can not give enough props to the Chesapeake. I recently had my July 4th wedding at this location and my guests are still raving about it. I will be honest, we randomly picked the location and ended up with the best ceremony and reception that we could ever imagine. With a little over a year to plan, Lori Kirby-Medlin and Mary Donovan were unbelievably responsive with my thousands of email requests. They worked with us to give the exact look and feel that we were going for. We had our wedding the weekend of July 4th which was perfect, I was a little nervous since the area holds a big holiday celebration but I wouldn't have wanted it any any other way. We had our rehearsal dinner on Saturday at the Boardwalk Cafe, we had our own area for the wedding party and were able to enjoy the bands and the crowd, not only that but we had a perfect view of the fireworks display. The following day was the ceremony and the reception. It was absolutely everything that I wanted, Lori managed the guests and the wedding party so well, and helped me get my bearings before walking down the aisle :) The food from the Rod and Reel was delicious, and the service was amazing. I would highly recommend this location to anyone who is looking for an outdoor ceremony, great food, and excellent service. Most of our guests couldn't get enough of the place, which was wonderful, there was so much for them to do that we didnt have to worry about making sure they were entertained for the entire weekend! A lot of folks have already told us that they have recommended other friends and families to have weddings there and also are planning family reunions. I am in the middle of taking a poll to see how many folks would go back next year to help celebrate our 1 year anniversary with us! I am looking forward to going back real soon :)

I had the most amazing wedding experience at CBRS. First, I want to say that the wedding coordinators, Mary, Lori, (and Carrie) were so good to us. From the first meeting when we booked, we were treated with respect, professionalism, and kindness. Lori, especially, went out of her way to make sure our wedding was a fabulous event. The food is fantastic...I am so glad we went to the tasting because I was too excited to eat much at the actual reception, but everyone raved about the food. The hotel stay was fantastic...many of our guests had booked rooms for the nights before and after the wedding and everyone had such a fun time. The views of the Chesapeake are breathtaking. The ceremony location is gorgeous right on the water, and the reception is indoors only a few steps away. I am so happy that we chose Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa as our wedding location.

My husband and I really wanted to have a destination wedding but it was important to us to have all of our friends and family there. I have a grandmother (86) and great uncle (92) that just would not of been able to fly. This location offered everything we wanted (a wedding outside on the beach). I didn't have a problem with responsiveness. Mary seemed to respond to me in a timely manner. The food was amazing. My guest kept telling me they had been to many weddings and the food is usually ok but the food at your wedding was great. We had the steak and crab cake and then a chicken dish.

Mother nature did not cooperate with us on the day of our wedding. It poured :( Mary gave me up until 30 minutes before the ceremony to decided if I wanted to have it inside the ballroom (where the reception was held) or to have it out front by the water fountain. The rain stopped just long enough for us to get married outside. Though it was not on the beach like we wanted it was still beautiful.

We did a lot of shopping around and Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa gives you so much for your money. Yes it does seem a little pricey at first but look around and start adding everything up..the resort just offers so much more. Though I do agree since you are spending so much money there they should give the bride and groom the bridal suite for free. However when we arrived in our room that night there were champagne and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us.

All of my girls, my mom, mother-in-law, and myself had our hair and makeup done. They did such a wonderful job. They let us bring food and champagne into the salon. My hair looked amazing and never fell.

I am so happy with my wedding. It was everything I could of dreamed for and Mary and her staff did a wonderful job!

Great cake, just what I had asked for - amazing flavor and super moist. Decoration of the cake customized to match wedding colors and flowers. Still tasted great when we tried a piece on our first anniversary!

My husband and I couldn't have been happier with the final results of our weddings. Both the ceremony and reception sites were breathtaking. We completely lucked out with the weather, it was only 80 degrees with a nice breeze (which for a July wedding is a miracle). Lori and Kandi were a pleasure to work with. They were both very responsive to ALL of my questions and Lori was there the day of to help alleviate any issues that occurred.

The only complaints we had were with the hotel part of the resort. For some reason the catering and hotel are very separate and for anything hotel related (reservations, shuttle, etc) we had to go directly through them (which was a pain in the butt). They were not very proactive in responding to us (we had to call and leave several messages before receiving a call back). We had difficulty changing some of the room reservations and making the shuttle reservations. Then the day of the wedding the shuttle was waiting at the wrong hotel which caused some of our guests to be late.

Besides those few minor complaints everything was perfect and we would highly recommend this place to anyone interested in getting married on the Bay.

We just had our wedding on 9/24/11. I am beyond happy with how our day went. Lori and Kandi were their to help throughout the entire process by answering my many questions on the phone or through email. They were always quick to respond. They were both excellent on our day, especially Lori who took such good care of us and made sure everything went smoothly. I would highly reccommend having your wedding there and you wont be dissappointed.

Getting that first appointment at Chesapeake Beach was a little tricky, but booking the place and working with Lori and Kandi was easy. They respond well to e-mails, they give great advice, and they were very flexible. They helped me to create a perfect menu. They only do a few tastings a year, and it's in large groups. This makes it less personal, but on the other hand, the Resort treats it like it's a real wedding, so it's fun to see how the ballroom looks and feels, in addition to tasting meals. And you get to taste not only entrees, but also the crudites, champagne, appetizers, and other desserts. I personally was not a fan of their foods in the buffet, but their sit down dinners were great-- we chose the filet and the crab cake with stuffed chicken and then served a portabello mushroom for a vegetarian dish and had a children's dinner option. We got RAVE reviews about the food.

The Chesapeake Beach Resort & Spa took care of us from the moment we stepped foot on the property. I truly felt like I was the only event occuring there during that Holiday weekend, even though they had multiple events going on. The hotel staff were very courteous and helpful. Mary, the event coordinator, was exceptionally helpful, especially when our officiant did not show to the rehearsal. Our entire wedding weekend went so smoothly and I was able to enjoy myself knowing that everything was taken care of and set up exactly the way I wanted it.

Our wedding was such a blast and this was largely due to the location. Chespeake Beach Resort & Spa really captures so much in a such a quaint little resort that it makes you feel like you're having a destination wedding (but only driving an hour to get there!) We wanted a beach wedding but didn't want everyone to have to travel too far, so living in the DC area, the Chesapeake Bay was a natural choice and we ended up finding so much more at Chesapeake Beach Resort & Spa than we had ever anticipated. The atmosphere was laid back and fun (but still elegant), the scenery was gorgeous (and made for excellent photos!!), and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating! Mary (the events coordinator) was always so happy to answer any questions or concerns and really made me feel so much more at ease as the day came closer. The best part was that her and the other staff members really seem to enjoy what they do and love helping you make your wedding everything you dream it to be! They gave us the utmost attention when our day arrived (they only schedule one wedding a day). And truly helped us make it personal to us and made sure everything ran smoothly. The banquet manager (I can't remember his name to save my life...) was also really great on the night of the wedding and made sure all our decorations were boxed up and good to go, and he even found little individual takeout boxes for our leftover cake when my family realized they had no clue what to do with it. Overall, the reception and ceremony were a little more expensive than we had hoped, but we found other ways to cut (in invitations, flowers, etc.) to make up for it. We got more comments about how delicious alllll of the food was and how beautiful the site was than anything else. In the end, I definitely think it was worth every single penny!!!

I also got my hair and makeup done by Emily at the spa and she did a phenomenal job!! I couldn't believe how beautiful I looked in the photos (I'm not at all photogenic) and I owe it all to her. The rest of the staff at the spa was great too. All of my bridesmaids and my mom loved their hair and they were really friendly and laid back and helped me stay at ease while getting ready.

My review is of the spa, as my ceremony and reception were held at Herrington on the Bay. I had a wonderful time preparing for the wedding: main/pedi and a knockout updo. The spa staff provide wonderful, reasonably priced services and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Amie (sp?) made sure that not only did my hair look as I wanted it, but also assured that it didn't budge an inch after the long day and plenty of dancing.

Make sure you book your appointments (for yourself and your bridesmaids) well in advance if you're having a summer wedding!

I had my reception here and it was just about perfect. They are a bit pricey, but provide your food, drinks, tables, linens, flatware, dishes and glassware. They offer a variety of sit down and buffet options that range from about $50 to $75 per plate (which includes the above mentioned provisions). Standard h'or doerves are provided with the buffet or sit down option including vegetables crudite, crackers, etc. You can also upgrade or add on other h'or doerves. You can select an open bar, open beer and wine, or cash bar. They have a nice sized dance floor in the middle and areas for the dj, cake table, present table, guest book table. They are pretty flexible and good about making your wedding day EASY.

I was not overly impressed with this location as far as a ceremony/reception LOCATION, but the catering services were excellent. The food was tasty and we had a wide variety to pick from (although, I believe that the choices have been limited since our wedding). The guests loved the food and our buffet style meal went very smoothly!

I used the spa for my hair and makeup, I also was able to get a trial run. I let the stylist do what seh thought would look good and it turned out great, even stayed in overnight and I didn't have to wory about if falling out. She also did a great job on my makeup making it looking very natural and not caking it on.

The wedding was amazing and beautiful. The food was wonderful and everyone said it was great. I love the scenery there and the place was quite affordable. The only thing that was overpriced were the hotel rooms. They were beautiful but really to pay almost $200 a night for a place in Chesapeake beach just seems a little ridiculous. Also I was told that my guests would get a discounted rate for being in the block and they ended up being the same price as any other guests coming on that weekend. Mary and Lori responded to my concerns almost always pretty quickly but on occasion it took a bit of time to get a response. The communication between the hotel staff and the coordinators could be a bit better as well. I can honestly say it was really a great experience and I am glad I had my wedding there. If there were any issues the day of I did not know about them and I had a beautiful day.

We were married at Herrington on the Bay but decided to have our hotel accomodations for our wedding party and family at Chesapeake. We also had our rehearsal dinner at Chesapeake's restaurant, the Rod N' Reel club.
We had a lot of problems with our wedding block. There were price issues as well as one of our bridesmaids didn't end up getting her room and she had to stay 20 minutes away. We were told she had a reservation and that it was squared away but that wasn't the case. That was the worst of our issues there.
As for the rehearsal dinner, we were told we would be allowed to come in a few hours in advance to decorate and that we could do whatever we wanted with the area we rented. However, on the day of they would only give us an hour to decorate and they were suddenly changing the rules on what we could and couldn't do as far as decorations.
We did get everything worked out in the end but it was frustrating how one person would tell us one thing and another would say something else.
Despite the hiccups and problems with the reservations and the restaurant we still had a really good time at Chesapeake. They did upgrade my room for free because of all the issues. Also, the food at the restaurant was really good and the hotel gave us a bottle of champagne as a wedding gift. The rooms are nice and comfortable and we enjoyed the restaurants and outdoor bar.
All in all it is still the best place you will find for accomendations in the area. There isn't a lot of options in the area and I still think this is probably the best option. The rooms and the food are a bit pricey, so we expected to have a much smoother experience.. but in the end it all worked out fine. You just have to really stay on top of them with the room reservations and ensure things are clearly stated in the contract.

I was thrilled to find this gorgeous venue on the water that was actually somewhat affordable compared to other venues on or near the water in the Annapolis area. Since our wedding though, their prices have skyrocketed, I believe. My first meeting with them went well, but once we booked, it was very hard to get in touch with people regarding our ceremony/reception. The responsiveness was very good during the week before the wedding (I had sooo many last minute questions!), but it would have been nice if it was like that all along. The ceremony was gorgeous and went off without a hitch (except for a boat starting up right before we were about to say our vows!!). The food was FANTASTIC and our guests had an amazing time at the reception. However, with the amount that it costs, they could do some updating to improve the overall appearance of the ballroom. In addition, even though you are shelling out thousands of dollars for the reception, they do not give you the bridal suite for free...they charge you $400 a night with a 2-night minimum to stay there!

This is a great all-in-one venue. The hotel is attached and is very nice, probably the nicest hotel I've stayed in in a long time. The ceremony site is beautiful with a marina in the background. The Chesapeake Ballroom space is large and well-decorated. The food was UNBELIEVABLE. Every guest complimented the crab soup and loved that there was such a variety and plentiful quantity of great-tasting food.

The only drawback was that the wedding coordinators on-site did not communicate very well with me. I found out the DAY OF my wedding that there was ANOTHER WEDDING on the same day, occurring 1 hour before mine. It screwed up my picture schedule and made things complicated for my guests. But, aside from that, I would highly recommend this venue.

so the wedding planner was ok. so was just pretty much a coordinator for the place. she didn't listen to us about the weather. she kept insisting that it wasn't goin to rain anymore and it pured. delaying the ceremony 45 mins because they kept going back and forth on wheter to do it on the dock or nder the overhang. the did not really extend the reception either. on the other hand the food was amazing and well priced. all of our guests commented on how well the liked the food.

While we had a lovely wedding day and generally positive experience with this location there were a few issues that anyone thinking of using this venue should consider. First the good. It is nice to have the hotel right next to the reception site. Free valet service was very nice. Mary and her assistant Lori were fairly easy to reach and responsive. They were very flexible with many of my requests ( although I did not ask for much- but even so it was nice). The location is beautiful and the food was great. The price is decent for the food compared to other venues.

Now the issues. The day of my wedding there was no water for the majority of the day. I almost did not get a shower, and some of my bridesmaids did not and we could not use the toliets as we got ready. ( we stayed in hotel night before wedding). We of course expected some type of a credit (especially when the cheapest room is 170$/ night) but no. They said it was not their problem because the water main break was outside the hotel. In my opinion no matter where the break happened I expect to get a shower in my hotel and if this can't happen I want some kind of rebate. After much arguing with the staff I was able to get some money off the almost 500$ a night bridal suite but my guests did not get any type of rebate, rather just attitude. The cake was not served during the wedding so most of my guests did not eat the cake and the wedding coordinator Lori disappeared midway through so I had to have my photographer get us plates to use to cut the cake. The bartender was as rude as could be. I have heard complaints from every one of my guests. She was complaining about working the wedding all night and making my guests get their ID and then when they came back to bar with them she stated she did not need it! Worst of all we paid 25$ a head for the top shelf bar only to find out from our guests later that they were being served the rail liquor. Only the guests who knew about the top shelf and asked for it received this. The day after the wedding my mother spoke to Mary who runs things about our issues. She basically acted like we were lying and said the bartender had been there for years and was wonderful and that the bartenders were told to serve the top shelf. When we insisted they were not she brushed us off and said she would think about giving us a refund. We have emailed her and have yet to hear back.

I think this venue needs to work on their professionalism and class if they want to promote their wedding business. If you want a budget wedding and take their base package then this place may be a good bet. If you are upgrading anything we found it would have been better price and quality of service wise to go with one of the venues that includes everything in one price and that has more experience on how to run a wedding.

First of all, the place was extremely expensive for the services that we recieved. The ceremony was on the beach behind the restaurant associated with the resort and the ceremony was in the restaurant (Rod and Reel). We paid almost $20,000 for the wedding and we treated as if we paid nothing. First, we were not given a complimentary room and they gave us a problem with trying to make sure the wedding parties were able to spend the night together the night before. Then they started telling our guests that it was a two night minimum (the cheapest room is $170) to stay at the hotel for the wedding, when we were never informed of this when we signed our contract. The wedding coordinator quit about 6 months after we signed the contract and she left nothing behind for anyone else. They increased their prices on rooms and for weddings and tried to increase them for us because they didnt have our contract any longer. When I faxed over the contract they finally agreed to the orignial prices. We had slip covers put down in our original contract, which they never ordered for us. The only thing they did was tell me a vendor that would supply them a week and a half before the wedding. On our orignial contract we had a 5 hour reception, when we went for our final meeting Mary told us to just do a 4 hour one and we can add the extra hour if the recpetion is still going strong. So the night of the wedding, when we told the restaurant manager that we wanted to have the extra hour he told us "no". He said that he called Mary, the woman we had been dealing with, and she said that she never told us we could do that. My mom and personal wedding coordinator went out to talk to the man and he wouldnt budge. Finally I had to go out, during my own wedding reception and talk to him. He finally gave it to us and I believe it was because I threatened to take the entire rest of the wedding (about 80 people who can drink heavily and spent a great deal there the night before) down the road to the next bar and they will see no more money form this wedding. My last grievance with the place was about the liquor being served. We upgraded the wedding to include rail liquor. However, they had all liquors out for the guests to see, so no one knew what was free and what would cost them and a lot of guests had to pay for their own drinks at first. Finally, my mom had to ask them to put all none rail liquors away and only serve them if people already knew they would have to pay, so they weren't suprised at the end.

Where to start....
Back in July of 2009 my fiance and I went to visit this place and fell in love! We met with Lori, she seemed great very friendly, answered all our questions and was willing to work with us. The place was pretty and clean and we loved the fact that the hotel was right there.

I had gone there a few times in between for hair trials, ect, and everything seemed to have a little flaw here or there, but no big deal...
until my actual wedding came around.

We checked into 2 of the hotel rooms, one which smelled so horrible like mildew I was scared to leave anything in there worried that it would catch the stench. After going back downstairs and asking them to change my room or spray it out or something they said they only thing they could do was change my room but I'd have to pay for it. Which makes no sense at all I'd have to pay because YOUR hotel smells!? Poor customer service right there. Best part was she ended up moving me to an exact similar room, which didn't have an upgrade. Next, My rehersal dinner was as Smokey Joes and the food was far from "resort" quality. Even one of the other staff memebers stated how they dont hire great people to work there and everyone complains about the food. So wedding morning came around, got up to have a little breakfast, which included stale muffins and warm yogurt, and to check on how the wedding was being set up so far. I walk upstairs to the reception venue to find a little girl trying to carry in tables and asks me if I've seen Lori because the other person called out and she doesn't think she can set it all up by herself. At that time also one of the tables she brought in looked a little trashy (wooden top with chunks out of it) as she set it up it fell back down. I asked her to change it out because it didn't look very sturdy and she gave me a sny "ok". I left to go find Lori and bring up more of the centerpieces/favors. Found Lori and informed her about the situation and told her I was worried about it being set up. At that time I went downstairs with my mom to calm down a bit and hope to get something in my stomach. After waiting for 30 minutes for a salad I had ordered, that still didn't come I figured I'd go upstairs and see if its coming together any more. To my gut feeling, of corse not. After emailing Lori SEVERAL times priorto tell her my guest count and table numbers ect, I came up to find 12 tables of 8, when I specifically, even that morning told her 7 tables of 10 and 3 tables of 8. So again, had to help them move things around, which is the last thing a bride should be doing on her wedding day. At that point I had to go downstairs and just hope that the unorganized/chaos would calm and be all behind us. BOY WAS I WRONG!! We started getting ready in my hotel room, which was about 82 degrees because the fire place wouldn't turn off, so we had to call maintence and the onyl way he could turn it off was to turn the entire gas system off. We started also running b ehind there because the restaurant still didn't have the food ready so myself and the bridesmaids all had to get our food to go and eat in our room while trying to get ready. I get down to the spa for my hair apointment at 2:15 to not be started until 2:40, another set back. So set back after set back we are all trying to rush to get ready and the phone in my room is ringing off the hook! Who was it....LORI my wedding coordinator to tell me to "hurry up I have another wedding right after you cna't be late" how UNPROFESSIONAL! Because she made the mistake of booking two weddings so close together I was supose to hurry up becuase HER restaurant was late and HER spa was late! Then after we were about 20 minutes late finally getting ready(with no time to take pictures with my phtographer) we walked down the isle, exchanged rings and the ceremony was over...wiht one BIG mistake...my new husband and I NEVER got to say I DO...why you ask...because LORI had the nerve to tell my pastor to cut the ceremony short in lamens terms. This lady was so frazzled with the hole she dug herself I'm not sure what was going on in her brain. She was rude to myself, my family, my DJ and the pastor. I had NEVER seen this side of her in the past year plus I worked with her I was in shock. She then told us we could only take pictures over on the other pier becuase the other wedding had to start, then once they were done, she let them take pictures on the ceremony site BEFORE us. When we asked her/the phtographer if we could her response was they are already taking pictures there. So basically a bigger wedding took presidence over a smaller wedding, which in the long run probably spend more money between the rehersal dinner, wedding, hotel rooms, lunches, ect. So on our way to the reception, our DJ was rushed, again by Lori as she told him he must be packed up and our by 10, but was paid until 10pm. One of our guests tripped on the step going down which was a large step followed by an uneven board covered in a larger carpet. The carpet was dirty and the boards didn't even touch eachother. We fnally got upstairs and Lori was nowhere to be found, instead some inexperienced little girl who was lost/clueless was our "go to gal". And where was Lori, who from day 1 promise to be at OUR wedding for any questions/concerns, downstairs at the larger wedding. To cut short, the bar ran our of glasses, so my guests were drinking out of plastic cups, they started taking the food up early and a some of my guests were still eating, they wait staff barley touched the tables, when cutting the cake the little girl"in charge" wouldn't give my guests their selection of cake, she explained to them "we are cutting the chocolate first and then the yellow cake". I'm sorry but MY guests, MY wedding, THEIR choice not yours!! Once the night was winding down, and my hope that chaos was over and PRAYING that my guests didn't see all the errors and had a good time, the SAME table I asked to be removed fell on one of my guests, spilling water all over the ground and causing another one of my guests to slip and fall. Where was Lori and the waiting staff to come help....NOWHERE TO BE FOUND for about a good 15 mintues. My mom and I started cleaning it up. So after a rough day/night I went back ot our room with my new husband to listen to the sound of someone running above me back and forth until midnight and started the next morning at 6:30 and the smell of stale air.
Yes at first the place seemed wonderful! The staff seemed great, the view was fantastic and the price was great. But little to my knowledge, I was wrong at my first judgement. The ONLY staff memeber that should have gotten ANY acknowledgement was the little bell boy who was there the ENTIRE weekend. He was so helpful, so nice, and went above and beyond to assist each of my guests and my family and myself.
Brides, my BIG advice, look closely and look acouple times before booking your venue.

Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa (The SPA): F
I scheduled my first hair trial for the beginning of September because I unexpectedly got a new job halfway across the country so my DH and I moved two months before the wedding. I am so glad I scheduled the appointment so early because the hairstylist, Linda, gave me a second degree burn on my cheek. She was curling my hair and accidentally held the curling iron to my cheek. It hurt so I made an exclamation to which she said “Oops, I've never done that before” She got me neosporin and finished the hair. I didn't realize at first how bad the burn was because she turned me away from the mirror and it took a little while for the burn to really turn bright red. When the trial ended and I went to pay, I thought I would get it for free (because of the burn) Instead, she charged me extra because the appointment took extra time. I called the next day and my money was refunded and they said they would pay for my medical bills. However, the insurance company never followed up with me. I would caution anyone from using this spa, I was looking forward to using it because of the convenience of it all being at one location. It was not worth it, and I had a scar on my face on my wedding day.(I was successful at covering it with make-up, but thats not the point).

Chesapeake Beach Resort (The view and Food):
The reason we booked this venue eventhough we were having a difficult time with the owner, Mary, is because it had a beautiful beach front view and everything could be all in one location. They set up the room the day before and because we DIY'd our centerpieces etc. we were able to use that time to set up the room and finished it in no time. Although Mary had given us conflicting information as to whether or not her staff would put out our centerpieces. However, the day of the wedding Mary gave my wedding planner a great deal of attitude when she asked if they were going to fill the vases - so my wedding planner had to run downstairs in the middle of our ceremony and fill them all. The wedding planner was able to get Mary to agree to light the candles so that she could return to the ceremony!  However, the view did not dissapoint. We had our pictures outside on the beach (in December!) and our wedding in the upstairs room. While we had some issues with that location, the view was spectacular. The view from downstairs was also just what we wanted. Also the food was delicious. All of the stuff I reported below, aside, my guests had a fabulous time and the day itself was absolutely wonderful.

Let me first say, a lot of my guests didn't notice all the problems and we still had a great time
When we got there earlier that week I asked if we could get a complimentary upgrade to the suite, it is common practice in most hotels (even boutique hotels)  I informed them, that I needed the suite because I need to bring in a hairstylist since the resort gave me a 2nd degree burn on my face.  When I wasn't successful, I went to Mary (the owner) and got her to reduce the suite enough for us to agree(not free upgrade). The night before the wedding some of my bridesmaids stayed over and the room was a bit of a mess what with all the hair stuff and makeup and getting dressed that happened. 
 
Before the ceremony my "wedding Planner" had to ask several times to have the extra chairs removed from the room and at was told by MARY to ask the maintenance man to do it - because he only spoke spanish and Mary stated that she didn't speak spanish. Also the wedding planner had to ask several times to have the doors that led directly upstairs opened because so that the wedding planner did not have to run through all of the slot machines in order to get upstairs. The wedding planner also had to ask several different people for a wine carafe for our ceremony. Also  the restrooms outside of the ceremony room had so much toilet paper on the floor that it looked like a highschool lockerroom.

So the next morning things went smoothly, got pics done, had a great time.  i really liked how everything and everyone were in one place.  So, we headed up to the ceremony room which is next door to the slot machines and I get into the elevator to ride up with my bridesmaids and some random gambling dude got in with us.  They totally kept all the slots going during the ceremony-we could hear the music and even heard an announcement for the 3 o'clock winner of the drawing.  And while I was waiting to go down the aisle, they continued to let the gamblers come out and fill up their complimentary drinks.  The floor was messy and it was tacky (in both senses of the term).  I so did not appreciate it, but its kinda amusing in hindsight. (in a wow-this is what they consider customer services sort of a way).  The ceremony went well though, I loved the space, (just not the random slot machine sounds I could hear).  During the event Mary informed our wedding planner that we could not enter the reception room until 4pm. Our wedding planner got Mary to agree to allow the guests into the room - but she refused to open the included bar to accomodate our guests and instead offered a cash bar

Afterwards we were informed that the bar doesn't open for another half hour, and guests will have to pay for drinks until then.  Um, ok.  Well, then they Kept Open the Cash Bar in the reception room all night, even going so far as to have one of the beers on tap cost money.  I was furious.  I told Mary calmly during the reception that it was unacceptable and I told her 3 times during the developing of the contract, specifically to remove all alchohol not included in the free beer and wine.  She told me, "oh well, we didn't want people to go to the bar next door"  Um. yeah.  So, I'm a tacky bride that had a cash bar at her wedding.
 
So what I didn't realize is the Hotel never cleaned our room.  Even though my wedding planner specifically spoke with the front desk and asked them to come and clean the room at 12:30 and they agreed. And then my wedding planner specifically asked the maid to return at 12:30 - and then my wedding planner notified that particular maid when it was clear to go ahead and clean the room. Instead, my MOTHER and My bridesmaids snuck out in the middle of the reception to decorate the room, and were surprised to find it completely messy.  The most offending thing was that DH and I slept on dirty sheets in the bed I shared with a friend the night before.  Yeah.  That sucked.  When I spoke to Orhan the next day he told me "Mary was FAR more generous with you than I would have been.  We've done enough for you"  He said they tried three times that morning to clean the room.  Um, My wedding was scheduled for 2:30 pm at your resort.  I am the BRIDE. wouldn't you know to come THEN.  I mean, a wedding day is kinda busy with getting ready etc.  So, yeah.  The convenience was nice of not having to drive.  But they are jerks.  I would recommend you not stay there, if you are waivering.  But, the convenience was nice.  So, just know what you are getting yourself into!
