As soon as I found out that the Clarendon Ballroom was also a wedding and events venue that was very affordable (!) in comparison to many DC wedding locations, I had to get married there. I've been to so many concerts, parties, and just random nights out at the Ballroom over the years, but having our wedding there was truly special. The catering manager, Sandra Hoehne, is awesome! She suggested many reliable vendors to make our day special, and we ended up using many of them, as well.
We had our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all at the one location. They use the main floor ballroom for the ceremony setup, cocktail hour on the roof or in the front lounge, and then transform the main floor ballroom into a beautiful reception space in one little hour. Everyone told me how impressed they were at the transformation, and how much they loved having the outdoor cocktail hour on the roof with the great view of Arlington and sunset.
The food at the Clarendon Ballroom is really the reason to book. It is that good. Again, many guests raved about how good the food was, and depending on your bar package, they have a TON of beers on tap available (my husband really loved that one)! They make the wedding cake there or else you incur an extra fee per guest if you bring it in from the outside. I was nervous about this at first, because if I found I really cool cake design, I didn't know if the chef would have the pastry skills to pull it off. I should never have worried. They made a beautiful tiered cake with an enormous sugar flower covering the side of several tiers, and it looked EXACTLY like the picture that I sent. I was floored. It tasted really yummy, too! :)
I can't say enough about how happy I was with having our wedding at the Clarendon Ballroom. You may think of it as more of a bar, but they really far exceeded my expectations of what our wedding day should be. We couldn't be happier and we're excited to go back every year to celebrate our anniversary on the rooftop deck!

When we told people we were having our wedding at the Clarendon Ballroom, their response was "that bar we go see bands at?". It. Was. Amazing! The price was very good for the DC area and included a lot. The food is amazing; we had a cocktail style reception that our guests loved! Everyone raved about the Mac and Cheese. Sandra was super easy to work with and I enjoyed all of my meetings with her. They were very flexible with how we decorated the space and it was completely transformed! We had so much fun and I am so happy we had our wedding at the Clarendon Ballroom!!

I truly cannot recommend the Clarendon Ballroom enough. I had been there to attend a company holiday party, and it was the only potential place we looked at (although I spoke with a half dozen or more locations). I knew I liked the space, but the things that really set it apart that I wasn't expecting was the service and the food. Sandra, the catering manager (and wife of the chef) provided such an overwhelming level of responsiveness and service, I can't even properly capture it. There wasn't a single thing I asked for that she didn't reply immediately with exactly what I needed, and she was just so understanding of everything I was going through.
The food was also amazing - you can basically get whatever you want, so we had stations with Spanish tapas, sushi, and pasta. The guests couldn't stop talking about how incredible the food was.
Having our reception at the Clarendon Ballroom was probably the single best decision we made about the entire wedding.

When we started our wedding planning the only thing we knew was that we did not want to have the same hotel ballroom wedding everyone else has had. We discovered that that Ballroom did weddings and knew that this was the place for us!
We got married October 17, 2009 and worked with Amanda at the ballroom. From the very first time we met her, she was incredibly helpful and accommodating. Amanda helped us to create a menu that our guests have not stopped talking about! We did a ton of appetizers (mac and cheese, sliders, eggrolls, soup sippers, sushi and a few more to boot!) For our dinner, we did a bunch of different stations, which we loved. The food was so good and everyone loved getting up and moving around the room.
Amanda gave us wonderful suggestions for decorating the ballroom and was an absolute pleasure to work with. I was unsure how everything would look when the room was decorated for our wedding, but we were WOWED by the transformation. The room looked amazing and Amanda helped us to create a memorable evening. All of our friends who had been to the ballroom before, could not believe what a beautiful space it was.
We did our ceremony and our reception here and loved every aspect of having our wedding at the ballroom. Without any hesitation I would recommend any couple looking for a place that is unique, fun, has amazing food and staff, the Clarendon Ballroom is the place!

The Clarendon Ballroom was special to my fiance and I since we met there and later had our first kiss at the Ballroom. We were delighted to have our ceremony and reception at this memorable location. Logistically it was easy since they provided parking for our guests and the venue was less than a mile from our apartment. Several people questioned how nice we could turn this nightclub/bar that we frequented in our younger years into for a wedding but it was fairly easy. We really only used uplighting & flowers. We did not want the traditional hotel reception since my fiance works for hotel and knows how they nickel and dime you for everything. While the Ballroom may sound a little pricey for the rental fee, you should know it includes everything from tables, chairs, linens, and parking. You really just need to pay for food (and cake), alcohol, flowers and music. The staff and especially our coordinator Amanda were fabulous. They were easy to work with and helped everything run as smoothly as possible on our wedding day. I am still amazed how everything flowed so well and went pretty much as I had planned. The food was awesome and was exactly what we wanted for our seated diner. We are still getting raves from our guests about the food. The portions were huge! My only regret is that it rained the day of our wedding and we could not use the rooftop for happy hour. It would have made for some wonderful pictures... Maybe we'll head back there for our our anniversary.

The staff at the CB was wonderful. They made all of my dreams come true! We were assigned an event coordinator who put up with all of my incessant questions and who was just great! She had us drop off all of our decorations a few days before the wedding and then when we walked in it was just as I imagined it! The food was fantastic, the bar is to die for and they can accommodate all kinds of requests from sound system to linens. Highly recommend!

I loved this space - the bar was gorgeous and I liked upstairs deck for cocktails then the lounge for the after party. It was a blank canvas for me to add in special touches. My friends couldn't believe they way it was transformed. The service staff was great - they guests still rave about the food. I got to work with the sales staff to create my menu - they did a great dual entree of fish and steak with grits and southern biscuits. When I wanted more grits - the made sure I got some. The staff was also great making sure my bridal party and parents were well taken care of.
I highly recommend the Ballroom for your next event.

My favorite vendor by far. I was EXTREMELY impressed with CB, especially catering manager, Sandra Hoehne. Boy did they deliver big time!! We only looked at CB and the Key Bridge Marriott. The View Ballroom at the Marriott could not hold the number of guests we needed unfortunately (at that time, around 150-200). We love going to CB for happy hour and other events, so why not our wedding reception! In the beginning, it was really hard to get a hold of anyone at CB. But after the initial contact, we had no problems. I found that email was many times more effective than phone. Sandra was very prompt with email and answered the millions of questions I had. The thing I love about CB is that you have so many choices and options, and you are only limited by your imagination, from hors d'oeuvres, to main courses, to dessert, to table linens, to set up etc etc. I always felt that the choices were way too limited at hotel receptions. We chose to do 3 food stations with a mix of large round tables and smaller cocktail and high-top tables for a more cocktail party-like atmosphere, where people mingled more and less formal. The theme was tropical / Asian. We met with Sandra 3-4 times and discussed the feel of what we wanted and the theme. She had tons of suggestions on the foods and setup to go w/ our theme. She showed us menus from other weddings and told us about setups for corporate events. It was so much fun. After we signed the contract, we did the tasting (not sure if you can do a tasting there before signing the contract, which would make more sense). The ballroom (Art Deco style with a huge dance floor) was dimly lit with candles and tables set up with their silverware and china. As soon as we tasted the food, sitting in that ballroom, I knew we had picked the right place. It was magical just sitting at the tasting! (Its executive chef worked at the Inn at Little Washington among other notable restaurants in DC and it shows in the magnificent food) A valet was included which made it easy for everyone. We also had a room downstairs for us to keep our stuff and get changed in. The night of the reception, the ballroom itself was dimly lit with a ton of votives all around, giving the room a romantic glow (CB provided all the votives and I asked that they used all of them). All our guests loved the food and couldn't stop raving about the hors d'oeuvres (lamb chops, shrimp, mini crab cakes and prosciutto wrapped asparagus). For main course, we had a sushi station (that sushi chef from Sushi Ko was on overdrive that night!), a ?Hawaiian station? with mahi-mahi, and a traditional comforts station with Cuban pork loin (to die for) and turkey. The food was awesome. Sandra assigned one waitress dedicated to us, making sure we had drinks and got all our food for us. We always got the hors d'oeuvres first. She set up a little sweetheart table for us, which I did not think to request. Sandra stayed the whole night until everyone had left and made sure everything went smoothly. She even packed up all the leftovers for us (we ate wedding food for the next 3 days). Sandra was so organized and everything went according to schedule without it feeling too constricting. She was a total professional and a pleasure to work with. We mingled with all our friends and family and had the time of our lives! I could not imagine our reception at any other location and the space was just right for 150 people. And no, we didn't do the rooftop deck, as it was 90 degrees that day. I would recommend the Clarendon Ballroom for any event in a heartbeat.
Terrific venue! Definitely one of the cooler spots we've played a wedding at. The period theater detail adds both glamour and rock'n'roll to events. And the staff couldn't be friendlier or more accommodating!
This Is one of my favorite palces to work. It has a feeling you can't get in any other venue. I highly recommend it for an event.
A beautiful place for a wedding. We love shooting at Clarendon Ballroom!
What a lovely and hip room to have an event in. The Mustangs Band has enjoyed many shows in this Arlington cornerstone.
