Tony Sparks was a great DJ! We booked him at the suggestion of our wedding planner. Apparently, he does a lot of the weddings in Napa, where we got married. We are very particular about music and he totally listened to what we wanted and executed it perfectly! We did not have a dance hour after the reception but instead wanted something chill and lounge-like, which he totally delivered. During the dinner hour, we wanted a classy feel, and he delivered with standards like Frank Sinatra. He really set a great mood and tone for the wedding with music! He is also really low-key and a really nice guy!
Tony Sparks of Close Cut productions was the best! His prices were reasonable. For a small fee he provided up-lights. He's easier to reach on the phone, but will respond to email. Tony is well organized, professional and really kept the party moving. He will be the go-to dj for all of our family events.
Tony was fantastic. A dream DJ. He never missed a step, made sure everyone knew when they were giving their speeches and kept us all on time! We never felt rushed, just taken care of throughout all the toasts, the bridal party entrance, the bouquet and the garter toss. He also kept everyone dancing all night and was amazing at getting people on the dance floor. Everyone had a good time and loved the great range of music he played. One of our favorite vendors, don't hesitate to book him. Tony ROCKS!
Tony was really easy going. Maybe too easy going for my taste. A week before the wedding and we still hadn't heard from him about selecting music. I contacted him and had lots of questions. He told me to relax and he would take care of it all. It would all be fine. By that point, I was pretty nervous about the whole thing. I felt I was on my own to select all the music for the wedding and really didn't get much in the way of recommendations for the ceremony. Didn't much care for the playlist of songs he sent us for the reception either. About 50% were ok but rest were hip-hop, rap, and soul and that wasn't our thing.
His easy going nature was nice at the wedding because he was very relaxed making my guests relaxed. He did do all of the emceeing correctly and kept us pretty much on schedule. He was very earnest and wanted us to have a good time. Buy, I asked him to upload a few songs from I-tunes and I don't think he did that. I never heard the song I picked out for the cake cutting and he played a Greek grapevine song instead of the Jewish hora song I asked him to use. Definitely, didn't understand a Jewish wedding and the tradition of "Hava Nagilah"! But, everyone still had a great time and we had a good laugh that we did the chair dance and hora to Greek music.
We also had him do the A/V at the reception to show a Photo Montage. He was very professional about it all, checked out the DVD to make sure it worked ok, checked all the equipment, etc. and it all went off without a hitch. I've been to two weddings that had trouble with this and I was relieved that this went well. He had all the equipment so it was easy. I would highly recommend him for this.
I would recommend him but really make sure he gets all the music you want and review it all with him even if he says he's got it. I would suggest you make a cd of any special songs you want rather than leaving it to him. And, make sure you don't need the cd back as I gave him a cd of French cafe music and I never received it back. He doesn't know where it is at this point.
