Reviews for Coco's Alterations
I was referred to a fellow PW'er to Coco's and I was very pleased with the work she had done. I did not need any alterations on the gown except to put in a bustle. Coco did a simple three point bustle on my Maggie Sottero gown and I was pleased with the work. I did have an issue with how one point of my bustle was a little too high, she fixed it right away. Another issue I had was that I noticed that one of the hooks she installed on the back of my gown clipped too tight into it's sister hook and I noticed that a bead or 2 fell off of where the hook was sewn on, I understand that this was bound to happen and 2 beads from the 5 billion beads on my dress is no big deal but still I had to minus a star for that.
Overall I am pleased with her quality of work and her pricing can't be beat. I paid $35 for my 3 point bustle.
I was referred to Coco’s Alterations by a local bridal salon. They have been sending their brides to Coco for 5-6 years. She owns a small shop in the shopping strip next to El Gringo in Redondo Beach. I have a Lazaro silk satin gown and was hesitant taking the gown just anywhere for alterations. Rest assured I felt confident in Coco, every time I visited the shop she had many other brides, grooms and bridesmaids come in to drop off or pick up garments.
My wedding gown needed the bust/waist taken in, bra cups added, hem, bustle, and bead work added to my sash. In all I had 3 fittings with Coco and she worked very hard to make sure my dress was perfect for the wedding.
She also added about 200 crystals to my sash (hand beaded) as well as create a hook and bow to the sash so it can be put on as a belt vs. tying the sash (which would not have held up all night). For all the work Coco did, I only paid $275 which is way less than what a bridal salon alterations department would charge. I highly recommend Coco for wedding gown alterations.
Coco is the most laid back person- no stress. Located in the South Bay, and her shop is filled with bridal dresses. I bought a sample dress from a Bev Hills shop that retailed for $4800. When I got a bridesmaid dress there years ago they charged me $200 for alterations- so I knew I was finding my own person this time. The dress I got had about 13 missing satin buttons that she had to match and make and sew on, and it had to be fitted in the chest and waist. Plus, I took my flower girl dress in to take it down a size. She charged me $55 for both. When I went back to get it fitted, I had lost weight in my boobs (!) so she charged me another $20 to do the very difficult task of opening up the seams, tucking in the middle and rearranging the silk organza flowers to cover it up.
My bridesmaid paid $75 to take a sheer silk organza dress from a size 14 to a 12 and shorten it 4 inches. A total overhaul that had to be precise because you could see every seam since it was sheer material. Plus, she did it all in a few days. I am going to go there for everything now.
