Thank you, Michelle, for all of your hard work to make our 7/4/10 wedding at Point Vicente absolutly incredible! For future couples that need help organizing and creative ideas, Michelle and Critics Choice Catering will do it all for you! The food was *outstanding* and was a great value for the $$, too. Michelle was very flexible and willing to meet with us as many times as necessary to make our plans come to fruition. We can't thank you enough, Michelle!

Critics Choice was recommended to me by friend. As a frantic soon to be bride, I made an appointment. I walked in a little apprehensive and of-course really nervous because I had so much to do for the wedding. When I sat down and Janel walked me through what Critics Choice could do for me, I felt like a whole weight of stress just lifted off my shoulders. As I walked out I knew I wanted to use them as my caterers, not even sampling their food yet. Janel had this friendly vibe that wasn't fake. You could tell that she just met you, but she actually cared about you being happy as a bride and me needing to be hands on and not wanting any help, I knew I could count on her creativity and uniqueness to bring my vision to life. It is a great feeling because for couple months I felt like I was the only one I wanted to be in charge of everything so my stress level was so high. Couple weeks later, my Fiancée Joe and I went in for a tasting and it was beyond our expectations. I was really worried, AGAIN because my family and his family are all about the food and once we tasted it, we knew we made the right choice. Out of all the caterers we called, Critics Choice was by far the least expensive and they were willing to work with my budget. I thought since my budget was so low and I had so many people that, I'll get what I pay for, NOT TRUE. Janel worked with me through everything and she made sure I did not stress or freak out anymore than I should.
I walked into the reception, It was everything I hoped for and more. The tables were exactly how I pictures, the candles, decorations were unbelievable and so beautiful. All people could talk about is how beautiful the place was, what wonderful staff critics choice had ( Vanessa was wonderful) and most of all, People could not stop talking on how delicious the food was and that we must have spent a fortune (little did they know ;).
Janel, words cannot express my gratitude and thanks to you and your staff for giving me my dream wedding.

June 2010 Wedding

I recently got married at Point Vicente Interpretive Center in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Our coordinator, Janel, was great the whole way through. She created a wonderful menu for our guests that was oceany/hawaiian themed. We got a "free" taste sample before hiring Critic's Choice & I was sold right then & there. The chicken was seriously the best chicken I've ever had. And when the wedding rolled around, the reality was that we had a fair amount of vegetarians, so Janel prepared tofu for them, which was also great.

We had another taste test of the menu for the wedding a few weeks before and were able to finalize everything and make sure the food was all to our liking and good for the guests. We decided that all the appetizers would be vegetarian so no one had to worry about eating meat. Also, Janel had a separate sushi station set up, which was a really nice touch for the guests. I only with I had time to get some!

Janel also served as the day-of coordinator and planner, which was fantastic because we had no idea what we were doing & it allowed us to enjoy the day but still remember to do the important things -- bouquet toss, cake cut, garter toss, etc etc. Janel kept track of time and paid attention to the details so we didn't have to! I gave Janel all the stuff for the tables (place cards, games for the kid's table, toasting flutes etc) about a week before and she had it all set up at the location. She even included the centerpieces in her planning quote, so I didn't have to worry about getting more flowers. She created beautiful ocean-themed fishbowl centerpieces, with floating candles, which were really stunning! Also, all deliveries went through her, so we didn't have to worry about when the cake or ice or flowers got there.

Thank you so much Janel for making our day go smoothly so we could enjoy ourselves and our guests 100%. I would highly recommend Critic's Choice Catering to anyone!

I was recently married on 5/08/10 and we used Critics Choice Catering as our caterer and they did a wonderful job. Our coordinator, Janel, did an amazing job and I would highly recommend her. She was very helpful during the whole long process with giving us ideas and trying to make things easier on us. And on the day of the wedding, she was amazing. She continually checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed, got us drinks/food, packed up all of our things at the end of the night, etc. We weren't bothered with any of the little details.

The food was great! Everyone enjoyed it. Our menu was the Italian Stuffed Chicken and garlic mashed potatoes which I would highly recommend. The servers and bartenders did a great job as well. The bartenders and servers provided our bridal party with drinks and appetizers before the wedding and while we were busy taking pictures. Also, Critics Choice provided our centerpieces which I loved! I would and will recommend Janel and Critics Choice Catering to any future brides.

Michelle was great to work with. She was very understanding and worked around our low budget.

We had Asian stir-fry for dinner, and while most caterers/restaurants wouldn't allow outside vendors, she allowed us to have a guest bring in a roasted pig (as a gift) - which they gladly cut and served to our guests.

Since we had a specific theme going on (Beatles, 60s theme), they dressed up the buffet tables accordingly. They had the bright Sgt. Pepper's colors out (with their linens) and their own Beatles pictures and album covers for decorations. They even had their servers come in their 60s best.

WOW.....Critic's Choice Catering did a FANTASTIC job on our recent wedding. My husband and I got married at a beautiful plantation style home in San Pedro, CA. Critic's Choice helped make our wedding extra special by providing a marvelous meal, helpful staff and professional service.

The food was absolutely perfect and our guests raved at how delicious it was and how friendly the staff were. Carol did an amazing job and was truly a pleasure to work with. Carol was responsive to all of our questions, emails and phone calls and always took time to answer any last minute questions that came up!

I would HIGHLY recommend Critic's Choice for any catering need you may have. You can't find more delicious food, reasonable prices, and friendly and professional staff to help make your event everything you could dream of and more.

We had a buffet style wedding and are very happy with how everything went. Michelle helped us save money without impacting the vision of the wedding.

I would really like to be invited to a wedding that has critic's choice as their caterer because I didn't have enough time to eat and enjoy the food. (if you haven't gotten married yet you will know what I mean when your wedding is over)

They were also very helpful providing a bar package so we could provide the alcohol and drinks and pay a fee for the ice and glasses, saving us a lot of money.

Catering was the largest expense for our wedding but every guest loved the entire experience and gave very positive reviews of the food after the wedding.

My one recommendation would be to make sure that they set aside apps for you while you get pictures taken. I never got a crab cake!

Thanks Critic's Choice, you helped make our day even more special. I recommend you to everyone and hope that I have the opportunity to enjoy your wonderful food again.

AMAZING FOOD

FYI..this total does not incl alcohol. So pretty pricey, but they did a great job!! Janel was very likeable, very responsive and very easy to deal with. They did a great job with decorating and the table set up/floor plan. It was stunning! I was also happy that the staff approached us with some food before we headed down to the guests. We were starving and pretty much knew we weren't going to be able to really enjoy the meal.

We cannot thank Critic's Choice, and particularly Janel, enough for making our wedding such a wonderful evening. Our wedding was on August 1, 2009 at the Norris Pavilion. We initially hired Critic's Choice for the food, but got so much more than that. Janel took charge and handled almost every aspect of the wedding. On the day of, she perfectly coordinated and orchestrated everything. We don't know what we would have done without her! Not to mention that she was very accomodating and extremely nice to work with. Also, the food was fantastic. Critic's Choice provided our guests with their choice of Filet Mignon, Italian Stuffed Chicken, or Salmon - all of which were amazing, and very reasonably priced on our end. For cocktail hour, aside from gourmet tray-passed appetizers, Critic's Choice made a beautiful Mediterranean spread full of dips, unique homemade breads, and other miscellaneous items, which got rave reviews. With Critic's Choice, you won't get your standard "wedding banquet-ish" type of food - you know, a dry piece of chicken with that ungodly mushroom gravy smothered on top - that you will pay $100/person for at any hotel. You get quality and gourmet food, cooked by great chefs that are truly dedicated to what they do. Our guests are still raving about the food.

I cannot recommend Critic's Choice enough. There was nothing to complain about. The servers, bartenders, and staff were all very professional and efficient. The food, as I mentioned above, was amazing. And thanks to Janel, our dinner service (for about 215 guests) went extremely smoothly.

And thank you so much Janel for making the day as worry free as possible for us, and for being so nice and patient with us throughout the entire process. You truly made our vision of our perfect wedding come true.

We just had our daugther's wedding at the Norris Pavillion on 8/1/2009.We had 215 guests and I could not be happier with the results.The stationary meditarranean table was incredible ,the servers were very efficient and polite.

We had about 150 people at our wedding and wanted to have a simple sandwich and salad buffet. Michelle at Critic's Choice worked with us to get the menu we wanted within our price range (under 5000). I didn't realize how much catering costs and at first wanted to just buy food myself and have friends set it out, but after thinking about it, I saw the value in having professional staff . . . and I'm SO glad I went with these caterers. They were professional, on time, set out the food beautifully, cleaned up afterward . . . and I had several guests comment to me both during and after the wedding how much they loved the food. It took so much stress off me and my family/friends to know that they were taking care of the food, utensils, plates, cups, tablecloths . . . Oh, and the wedding cake was gorgeous and delicious too!! I would definitely recommend this catering company!

Our experience with Critics Choice was wonderful. Carol guided us through the entire wedding process. We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice to have this company (and their wonderful staff) handle my daughter's big day! The food was beyond our expectations: the service was awesome.....we just could not have been happier with our choice! Carol is very flexible and filled in when our florist did not provide the flowers for the cake....it was gorgeous when Carol finished with HER flowers! All in all...it was PERFECT! You can shop around all you want, but you might as well save time and money and book with Critic's Choice. You won't believe what they will do for you!

Michelle was our point-person, and by the wedding day she was also our friend. The food got rave reviews. Don't think the food isn't the most important part of your reception. It's probably the second-most important part of the whole wedding, the first being your actual marriage. Your guests will praise you forever. Critic's Choice helped take care of everything. Janel was ALWAYS prompt with emails and calls and even had co-workers return emails when she was out of the office for a day or two. Scott Fellows of Critic's Choice was a godsend for the success our important celebration of the publication of The Deep Voyages to Titanic and Beyond. Many deep sea exlorers, cinematographers, and submariners from around the world attended this special event and Scott's experience in the choice of materials, foods, and drinks to use was invaluable. Once again, you and your staff were fabulous! All I heard on Sunday and Monday was how INCREDIBLE the food was, how nice YOU were and what a fabulous night it was. The prime rib station received nothing but the highest praise! The desserts were a huge hit....but I didn't get to taste it...our Monsignour LOVED the white chocolate with strawberries, the chicken cabbage salad was also a big hit, apparently the curry was also quite appetizing on the mashed potatoes.

I heard people say that they really liked all the appetizers (I, of course, only ate the tenderloin.... which I did eat quite a few)!

All in all - it was a great night! We have only received praise, I have not heard anything negative from anyone who attended! Thanks a ton!

We had the pleasure of having Janel work with us on our daughter's reception. First of all we didn't give Janel much time, but she managed to take care of all of our needs. Since we are from out of town, we only met a couple of times so most of our contact was through email or phone. She was always very helful, but most of all very professional.

Janel holds your company with the highest regards and represents you with the professionalism your company deserves. The food is amazing, the staff very non-intrusive with us all having been to so many different weddings, from informal to black tie, all sorts of vendors, this was definitely the most efficient, beautiful, and relaxing location & service.

When hiring a caterer for a client, there are a few things I look for- delicious food, limitless menu options, beautiful presentation and a friendly & professional staff... Critics Choice has it all! They really work to develop a menu that is perfect for my clients tastes (and dietary restrictions!), and even throw in some creative options that we may not have thought of that are to die for. They're flexible, arrive on time, and the staff is so attentive and helpful. I'm looking forward to working with them again and often!
